Wanted to comment on the "so soon" portion of the thread. I am really happy with there being a booster between each issue. Keeps something fresh in the game at all times.
Even if it were I booster I wouldn't buy (can't imagine what that would be), I would still get to see others using it, and that makes the game fresh also.
Guess I am just a very visual person.
I would gladly trade all of my vet free costume change tokens for more costume slots. I will admit that I am a bit shocked that they sell sever slots, respecs, and transfers, but not costume slots. We really need more costume slots...bad. -
This is much better than the emote pack. If these are all available at character creation, that alone makes it worth it to me.
I can count on one hand the number of characters that I have who use capes, but I love auras.
I just want them to tell me when, and how much so I can budget this purchase -
Any damage aure. Then it seems like my pure awesome is killing them

Quote:What is even better is having those two auras at level 1
GR item pack - wish i got it sooner. The auras . . . wow! -
I want to know why there are no children in CoX. I mean in the early days the mutant store was the only NPC child in the game. Some consider Penny a child (I see her as a teenager). There are also no doge, or cats.
We even have parks with play equipment.
The addition of any of the above would be a huge improvement to the game.
Now that I think about it, there are no gas stations or Churches/places of worship either. Very odd.
Now a disclaimer. As a game designer, I can see why the Kids, and churches were left out. If there are children, then they can be put in danger, and that might make some people upset. Same with churches, don't want to step on any religious toes. Even with that, the loss of these things take away some of the immersion. -
Quote:The hero power seems like weak sauce compared to the villain power
Oh well, I am in the slow process of moving my red toons to blue. The real reward to me is playing in the environment I prefer.
I was never fond of the concept of penalties for switching sides. -
Even if it was just hasten, and the travel powers I would be happy.

I have to agree with you Sam, I hate getting cool stuff only to have strings attached. There have been several characters that I designed around a costume, I can't do that if I have to wait till level X to unlock the item. Well, I can, but it is not as fun as having my cool costume at level 1.
With boosters I can make my character from the start with the costume. -

Quote:Because in this case more is better.I agree, then wouldn't it make a lot more sense to spend time fixing that instead of adding further means to differentiate characters. Since, as you said, this game is already unmatched in that regard.
How then is it the highest priority to finish customization if it's already the most robust element in the game? That doesn't make sense.
I have read the text for the new content, and I love the skill trees, but I still got more out of the added aesthetics in GR than anything else. Which means I read the text the first few times I did that stuff. Please don't get me wrong, I thing the GR story is some of the best I have ever seen in a game (only topped by Bioshock 1), but looking cool while doing it was still key for me.
The things that really neede to be added like under water swimming, running on water, outer space zones, and a few things I may of missed, don't seem to be on the radar. Customizing the Pools is just finishing what was started. -
Quote:Yeah, in the end the suits decideI love the logic chopping and context people some people do to corner the devs into breaking promises.
In the grand scheme of things, do you really expect Posi to know exactly how every bit of content is going to be delivered? He knew new dance emotes were part of the code tree for that phase of development, and he made a mistake about how they were going to be given to us. That's kind of like expecting Castle's answers about City Vault to be written in stone correct.
It was a live chat. Allow for the fact that sometimes they might get things wrong before you build a house of cards out of broken promises. -
Quote:I agree 100% and said as much in all of the feed back threads. If they were costume options I would agree.
The emote pack aren't costume options.
If they had thrown in some costume options in there I might have actually bought it.
Quote:If everyone currently paying for access stopped paying for access right now how long would we keep getting all that new 'free' content?
If you look at other MMOs and compare their content updates with CoX's you can see why they are called "free". Everyone I can think of off the top of my head sells the things we have gotten in issue updates in the past. Guess it is all perception, I see myself as paying for access, and the content in the issues as being free. Others may see it differently, and they are welcome to, but be realistic about what the 15$ a month covers. -
Quote:Costume options will all ways sell. At some point they will realize that Costumes, and power customization are this game's bread and butter. With that said I'm ALL FOR the boosters.
If they need the extra money have at it. Just make sure it has something in there that is sure to make it sell well.
If it has something that's great, I buy it. If it doesn't then I don't.
It's fine to do an emote pack, just put something in there with it that makes it sell well.
I also agree that after 12 mo (or so) they should open them up to be purchased with hero/villain merits. This goes for the vet costumes too. A reflection of maturity I guess, because a few years ago I would have been dead set against it. -
Zombie Man is right, they never should have let it go this long unfinished. They have known forever how much Hasten, and the tricorder are hated by the players, and yet it is still static.
Sam also hit the nail on the head about the game Aesthetics. I hate to say it, because I love this game, but character customization is this game's main draw. Past that it is still button mashing in the end.
My characters and how I can customize them are what keeps me here year after year. I can do the same "content" over and over as long as I can do it in cool looking new ways. -
Quote:Then you haven't really thought about what the 15$ a month you pay actually covers. There are several posts on these boards that break it down. Some of them even made by those who work in the industry. Things like sever maintenance, Salary, rent, electric bills.Sorry to nitpick but I hate when I see stuff worded like "free" It aint free nothing is free in this game. They charge roughly $15 a month to roughly 100K people that's roughly 1.5million dollars a month. If you think 1.5million dollars is free well. The so called "free stuff" is actually what keeps the game going, booster packs just help little side projects.
This message brought to you buy it aint free inc.
The only thing free in life is sunshine and air.
If the game were making money on our 15$ a month, there wouldn't have just been a round of layoffs. Any new content is free, we pay for access, not new content. -
Doesn't bother me. My only real concern is that free items will stop making it into the game.
I think most people feel their suggestions have a better chance of making it into a booster than free into the game.
Me, I have all of the boosters. I teetered on the Dance pack, but when it hit, I had some extra cash. -

8 or 9 for me. I REALLY hate the way hasten looks on all of my DM characters.
-
I wish yo luck. They are selling for 50$+ on e-bay. I am not sure if that is against the EULA or not. I have never been lucky enough to get ANY costume code.

Quote:Who knows, I am am just giving one possible example, and my opinion on the situation. There have been things in past betas that got changed or pulled before they went live. I seriously doubt the delay of the Incarnate System prompted the need for a signed NDA for I20. If signed NDAs were going to be used as a future tool to mitigate whining why didn't I19 get one?

I am frightened by this, but I agree with Johnny on most of what he said. My Preatorian loyalist came to Paragon to be a hero, and if asked to sabotage the mediport system, he would tell them to take a hike. I already disagreed with Cole to his face when I first arrived, I am 30 levels higher now, so I will be glad to offer up a swift kick to one of his lackeys.
