I don't know anything about the game-economy or systems like that but with lots of past experience I hate marketeers. I'm not going to explain why because the last time I did I was countered with meaningless insults. The market, in my opinion, is fragile as it is. The only marketeers I like are the ones who do forecasts, etc - make a genuine effort to make a profit.
I say this because one of the main things I do nowadays is obtain rare items and sell them for what I believe the appropriate price. I know it's a market but I find it somewhat insulting that I spend a tremendous effort obtaining rare items and then selling the ones I don't need only to find bob down the road buys them at a whim, because he plays the market. An expression I absolutely abhor.
It's all perfectly fine for you to play the market, but I only applaud the ones who invest time, effort and lots of experience. Not the ones who shall we say somehow obtain blah blah an amount of money only to find they spiked a price, or whatever. Basically the ones who damage the market, and don't dare argue with me that they don't.
EDIT: I'm completely off-topic, apologies.

Getting problems here, and it's not budging off "Connecting...#..".
EDIT: 10minutes+ waiting, exit and restart: nothing.
Well done, not surprised..

I'm just hoping my effort in the past 5 years is not going down the same drain as waste does.

To simplify it to the lowest principle:
There is far too much influence & infamy floating around at the moment.
I should state that I do not mean that everyone has too much on their character, but rather the amount in circulation is disproportionate to the amount of, shall we call it, expenses that are in circulation. Meaning those who obtained a ridiculous amount of infamy or influence with a frivolous effort is happy to meet what has now become excessive prices.
Couple that with the fact the main measures to obtain influence & infamy recently don't have drops means rare items become rarer, to a degree and for a finite time, and prices basically rise.

There was a boom of /SD sets when the exploits were rife, now there pretty much dealt with, a lot of them have no idea how to use them now. Personally I find /SD horrible to farm with, other than my SS/SD brute. Primarily cause Foot Stomp keeps the pace up, with the FF proc in it too.
Elec/SD has two main AoE's which with an incredible amount of effort and influence/infamy spent can be brought to about 25s. In my opinion that's pretty poor. Fire/SD reminds me of SS in a way, but still don't like it and never have. Personally I've always used Fire/Kin/Earth(or)Fire because I find them quite speedy, I run with two other toons so I can run +4/8/B'on.
You can farm with it with SO's its that simple.
Also the advent of the BoTZ nerfs may mean that /SD will have to recover some bonuses too for DEF, my /SD doesn't use BoTZ but just saying.

Wow we are having a few fresh faces, it's good to see!

I'll be on one of them at least! Hope you enjoy the game!

Quote:In other words we got picked cause there the bigger boy in the playground? I'm not being naive but that's a pretty childish system. They needed a server to test the patch on, and the Euro Test is smaller, so it was the one to be rolled back to I16 - rolling the American one back and leaving the Euro one still with I17 on it would have been silly - they'd have cut off the majority of the beta testers from being able to test.
Even if it's more convenient to do it to our 'Test' server, they hardly warned us either in advance.

Quote:While I understand the principle behind this, the devs' will never put purples as merit rewards. Purple recipes were intended as end-game content, which I use loosely, therefore I see no intention of it being added to the merit system. They've been pretty adamant about their 'Purple' system anyway, I don't think we can dislodge them about it, at all.One answer would be, making purples available at the merit vendors for a higher purchase price. This would allow anyone to buy them by putting in the time doing tf's.
Fury -
In my opinion I suspected purples began to fall in price prior to the series of exploits, and the problem now is that with all this ridiculous influence/infamy around people are happy to pay in my opinion what is absurd prices. And it's one big loop, it's going to be a while for it to dwindle.
Especially when Tom, Dick and Harry all have capped infamy/influence on their hands and don't know anything.

It's a game get over it, not like your all getting shot in the foot for goodness sake...
Be a little relative.

They trademarked the name, thats all. Speculating this early is a little over-ambitious. I severely doubt there will be a CoH2, whatever.

Exploits need to be fixed immediately, I can't imagine the devs' in this game finding a fix and then waiting, at most, a whole week for the maintenance window. They kind of have to be fixed.
I am the same as you, I find these random downtimes quite irritating and in my schedule but I guess must is must.
Fury -
They are fixing exploits, exploits which are resulting in the very 50's that some of you are contradictorily complaining about. Of course it's very difficult these days ensuring everyone is still happy in the end. Presumably you'd understand that these problems should be fixed almost immediately, however it results in rather rash decisions, but then again they are hardly going to spend a week fixing a measly 'XP' exploit, which consequently would result in a furore from us - for time-wasting.
I realise that for quite a few of the die-hards in this game, it is quite demoralising when a nerf bat swings a bit too hard but at the moment you have to take it in stride. 'AE' has been out for a while but it's still being fine-tuned, especially since most major updates have a new influence on it, of course lets all contemplate that they remove XP from the 'AE' system for example: Do you really think that the same number of people will use it? It would become exclusive in the sense your friends would only invite you into a good arc, etc. Unfortunately resulting in a discarded feature of the game.
The 'Ally' nerf had to come, in fact I have no idea why 'Allies' are even there, since it really would be abused severely. I don't understand why when the developer implemented this particular criteria the word 'abuse' did not bounce around his/her head. You can't argue that it was going to be used fairly, and unfortunately the people who did obey it were punished - and I use that loosely. I don't really make arcs but surely a story can make do with a citizen, or some variation of the sort. It's hardly worth the reiterated effort, when you consider that on the counter-balance lay one incredibly easy way of exploitation. I do view both sides, and I do feel some sympathy for those who enjoy their imagination going wild, but it doesn't really break the system nor destroy your efforts in a wild way. I appreciate that it does require you to edit them but, again I stress you can't really outweight the exploit with say a longer period of time attempting to mitigate any damage on the players as a whole.
I also understand that the fixes appear to be rather rampant and blunt but there really hasn't been an update in this game that has been pitch-perfect with the audience. There will always been someone affected, you and I both know there not one to sway unless it's imperative.
The spur of patches lately have been for 'AE' exploits and I feel that eventually it is being corrected slowly. They have 'Going Rogue' on their hands, and if you really sit down and consider it, there not a great big corporation focusing on every minute detail.
If your affected by it, try and work around it, and I mean really try. That's all that can be done lately.
I say this with a whole-hearted attempt for both parties, the bigger picture seems better to me

Sounds a great idea, well done Tsu'. Hopefully we can get this posted out on the major channels, try kick off a fire! I have several guys that are itching for a craze of mad-hatted destruction! You've got my vote. Anything I can do to help, just say.
Fury -
Seems someone played a particular arc..
Fury -
As Lemur Lad stated, they don't post pre-patch notes if they are correcting an exploit. After all, if they told us what they were fixing several hours before they brought the servers down I would imagine a lot of people would then go use this exploit.
As well as that, if the patch didn't successfully correct the exploit, anyone who frequents the forums would now be aware of it.
Bottom line is, if they don't tell us before they patch it then most likely, in fact I would insist all the time, it is a correction of an exploit.
Fury -
England is open, your welcome there! In fact I insist you go there, I'm sure there currently holding the 'Welcome GG' sign already at customs! I should also notify you that there is no country that exists above England, this is in fact a lie. Do not go up there, you'll uhm.. fall off the border. However I am sure if such a country would exist, it would be excellent to visit.
Yea.. that's it!
Fury -
So far I have no idea what the patch did in it's entirety other than nerf several arcs to "Lawl-mode". And previous experiments haven't yielded much use. In my opinion, until patch notes clear it up, I think they might have went a bit over. Then again, I'm not fully sure what they've done to the system as a whole.

Anyway.. I must admit Carni' I haven't been on NA servers to confirm my hypothesis, I just assumed the time differences alone would have been enough to qualify the thought. I completely agree with you now, having said that I wonder if our EU servers would populate quickly if we did have a server list merge. It's merely out of curiosity, after all even here us 'Onions' are loyal to Union, and 'Defiant' to Defiant server. I would relish a merge list having said that though, it's just saddening to log on into 'Atlas Park' with a small pop'.
Fury -
Welcome back Coin.
Hopefully see you around Union my friend, you know the channels?
Fury -
The slight problem is that even if we did a server list merge, I doubt we'd play along-side many NA subscribers.
Since by the time most of them have finished work, assuming east coast, it'll be 22:00PM - in the UK - or later. Which is even past my bedtime. Morning-wise in the UK at 10:00AM it'll still be 02:00AM in the morning for them. These aren't exactly accurate, I can't remember the precise time changes but we are forgetting the rather large time-scale difference.
