  1. I suspected it was on Virute but I wasn't sure. I should have stored the screens on my website space. Darn it.
  2. A while back someone had created a "Funland" amuzement park in their base. I had taken a lot of screens of it and I have since lost them to a virus.

    Anyone know where I can get the pics of them?

  4. Just curious...if I go villain can I unlock the badges there, including the beacon badges?

    And when I go back to hero, will I still have those badges?

    And btw, I think Issue 19 (today I hope) is merging all the transport systems, including base portals.
  5. I still think an SDK is the way to go. Allow the community the option of developing new stuff and submitting it to the Studio.

    Do they have time to review submissions? Well, if they don't have to totally write the code for a new base editor themselves, I'm sure they can make time.

    Same goes with other areas of the game.

    I remember Freedom Force use to let you develop 3D renderings and such to add to the game. Multiple MMOs allow the community to develop content.

    There are some dedicated programmers and artists in our community that remain commited to City of Heroes. The developers should come up with a way to take advantage of that.

    There's a good point...they should warn us ahead of time on the hard drive space increases. I have three different Superhero MMOs installed right now (one in beta) and my space is running out. Too poor to buy a bigger hard drvie, so eventually I'll have to uninstall something!

    I think they should just remove AE from the game. When it first came out I came up with a bunch of arcs...real epic type of stuff.

    But with all the exploits I got tired of fixing the broken arcs when they nerfed the exploits. I NEVER design new stuff now. Waste of time.
  8. I'll be honest...when I saw the title of this threat, I was certain it would be someones way of saying Bases don't matter in the game. I entered this thread prepared to rebuke, but instead found a well presented arguement.

    Very well done, Shadestorm.

    That said, I do not agree with everything you said and have comments on other stuff:

    While that certainly played a role, the real reason was pathing. Since introducing the new pathing system (which I love), Base Raids became impossible. Entire rooms can now be closed off...make it impossible for invading forces to win.

    As mentioned above, they do not go everywhere. You clearly play on red side...where the number of zones are limited. On Blue side, Ouro Portals are widely used, but they do not go everywhere. For example, if you wanted to go to...um...Boomtown using the Boros portal, you would have to zone 3-4 times to get there...and would have a bit of running to do as well.

    A base will take you there instantly.

    I addition, Ouroboros is only accessable from level 25 on...which means bases are even more useful for toons below that level.

    Boros also has a vender, which is a plus. This is why bases should have venders added.

    The same could be said of Steel Canyon, which has WW and a University near each other.

    However, you do not have the same resourses as in a base. As someone that uses the invention system constantly, and I am also able to make billions per week in WW, my storage in the market window is usually full. A base helps fix that.

    Still, adding a Market Interface to bases would be a good addition.

    I have long been suggesting a Danger Room interface for bases. It would be much like the MA/AE interface, but would have randomly generated missions...with group-type threats.

    Much like the Radio or Paper system for heroes and villains, this system could say something like:

    "A villain group called Devils Minions is rumored to be planning an invasion of a local radio station..."

    The system could offer tickets that can be used for buffs through a buff vender in the base...or some other reward.

    I am a big time soloist in the game, but I can see your point about the lack of team-based development affecting the game.

    I play on Freedom, and I have always been a good team player, although I prefer solo overall. Yet it is still hard to find groups at times even when the server is red.

    Clearly, more team content is needed, and making it SG/VG/Base-related will give it staying power...unlike all of the stuff released in the last 2 years that become boring over short periods of time.

    This is not entirely true. Certainly Defensive rooms work, but there are other rooms as well. The large workroom, control rooms, power rooms...etc. I think even a TP room (but not sure). All of these have limited defensive abilities, but they do hold slow fields to some extent.

    On the bright side...you DID inspire me to use those cabinettes in a cool new way...



    Seriously though, Stacker...I have a tech base with around 90 million prestige freed up, and never seem to have enough base building time.

    I started a makeover and it has been going slow. So if you ever need room to build, send me a global (@AmericanAngel-Pete).

    My SG is not currently very active...maybe 10 of us at the moment. Might I suggest...when you do rooms for people, maybe do so on a PB names "Stacker" so people know it's you and not to boot you from their SG?
  11. DO AWAY WITH BASE PORTALS ALTOGETHER!

    After seeing the new zones, I got to thinking...why not have a building in each zone that looks like a hall of justice, pillars and all?

    Clicking on the doors would zone us into our bases.

    And on redside they can have a building htat looks like a hidaway with camera to warn of the cops coming.

    It's got nothing to do with justifying ones self. They are merely updating us to the progress. That's what family does...they share information.

    I have a small update in my "Dear Devs" thread as well, regarding my experiences thus far.

    And don't forget, they did not start this thread.
  13. Just to Update, I have recently been in cummunication with a red name...I won't say which one because I'm not sure if that person would want me to.

    But here is the response to my base builders concerns:

  15. I wish to finish my contacts first. I want the merits and badges. There's no good reason not to have a field analyst in at least one of the zones.
  16. I know people will get on here and say things like "They want to make sure we work through the arcs" and such, but I'm fighting freaking blues at lvl 14!

    I've been through the arcs, both above and below ground, multiple times. Give us a freaking field analyist already! I'm about ready to stop playing in Praetorea altogether!

    From what I understand, the 3 of you got together, talked a little, and decided to try this. It's a good idea...there was a group of designers years ago that tried it as well...back when Cryptic was here.

    However, it will do zero good. I hope you prove me wrong though. I've been with the game since beta, and a base designer since they were launched. I've been on these boards, mostly in the base forum, since.

    And in all that time, I could count the number of responses from the devs on two hands, and still have fingers left. The most I've seen is a new red name stating she would "like" to get attention for hte base builders, but nothing came of it.

    I would suggest I be a part of the commitee, but I'm simply too peeved at the devs to maintain a quite profile.

    On the other hand, I've been speaking with one recently on other matters and she seemed very nice. I even briefly mentioned bases getting attention, and the response was "nothing planned in the near future."

    Frankly, I'm considering leaving the game soon because of the lack of attention to bases. It is frustrating when they don't even read the Base Forums any more.

  20. I would start off with one simple question:
    "What is in developemt right now for bases?"

    Because anything not already in development is likely a year or more away.

    i19 in on the horizon, and already I'm seeing some possible flaws. That means they'll be spending time fixing them.

    I think Praetoria is the perfect place to introduce a new base editing system. Design a new one for those characters, and later make the switch in all areas.

    OR, they could commit to adding 3-5 decorative items per issue, and fixing a tech issue each issue.

    I, personally, would love a Base Editor design contest.

  22. I use to order by level, but my SGers always had trouble finding the portals they wanted, so I switched to alphabetical.

    The only exception in one telepad in a special spot in the center of the first telepad room that has Peregrine Island and RWZ, since those are commonly used by higher level toons.

    By doing them alphabetically, I line them up straight down the line, and it continues the line in the next room.

    That's not exactly what the announcement says. It says that players will be able to access the Preatoria portion of Going Rogue.

    On a personal note:
