Arcanaville said this about the Avatar of Hamidon fight, but I think it is apt for the new trials:
For better or worse, the strategy Winterminal relies on cannot be done by a lot of leagues, and after a few goes, players will tune the trial out. -
Quote:After repeated trips to the hospital due to this on the successful trial I did on beta, all I can say is:The one difference is that Maelstrom will be present and he likes to one-shot league members as they are exiting buildings with his version of Vorpal Judgement. Ignore him, and if you are unlucky and he hits you, simply hit the hospital and join the rest of the league in the current building as soon as possible.
There is no <CENSORED> way that I want to subject myself to this crap.
This should never have been allowed. The player exits the hospital with no recourse and instantly dies. -

Special Origins, once the great reward for the special trials and tasks have now been eclipsed by IOs and the new market enhancers.
Crystal Titan Origin Enhancements
Hydra Origin Enhancements
Synthetic / Hamidon Origin Enhancements
To make these enhancements desirable again, I am suggesting that they become attuned enhancements from 35-50 (with a scaling increase/decrease in value).
- This would eliminate the Titan and Hydra enhancements being seen as worthless because of their very narrow level range.
- It would be something that wasn't possible before Issue 21 with the available tech.
- It would give more characters an incentive to actually run Eden and the Abandoned Sewers (more incentive would to be make them co-op, or make equivalent red side trials).
-
Quote:The moment they follow your suggestion would make not only purples seem like penny candy, it would make PVPIOs seem like penny candy.Normal IOs only cost you time spent playing the game, which presumably you would be doing anyway.
ATOs have a calculable, non-subjective value. Let's say you are a Blaster and the ATOs are not weighted by Archetype. Let's further say that there is one ATO in every pack. There are 12 different Archetypes, so that means you will spend an average of $12 just to get a single Blaster IO. An average of $72 to pull a set.
Therefore, just by playing the ingame market, you can pull a set that is demonstrably worth $72 in real American dollars.
This is bad.
The fact that ATOs are also available ingame mitigates this only slightly. I am requesting a bit of code that differentiates the storebought ones, so that they cannot be traded ingame or sold in the Auction House. -
Quote:There is zero interest in the new trials. I did it, successfully, on beta and I have no interest in the TPN. It is NOT fun, it can be failed by a few people not paying attention, and I don't want to spend most of my night micro-managing how the team is made up.This.
2-for-2 on successful runs last night on Pinnacle. The second one (which was smoother since we had figured out the winning strategy) was 30 minutes flat. I have a hard time believing that people will be shunning a 30 minute trial that guarantees them 60+ Incarnate Threads and at least 1 Empyrean Merit every time they run it. They just need a chance for the strategies to become widely known. -
Quote:That is what the badge hint text says during the open beta.I'm a little confused about this one. There are only two 500-point Public Opinion challenges; the other caps at 250 and doesn't require reaching that threshold. So:Quote:
Hint text - Complete all three 500-point Public Opinion challenges, taking no more than 8 minutes per challenge, and then finish the trial.
• Is the first challenge included in this?
• Do you have to get to 250 Public Opinion for the badge?
• Or did I miss a third challenge at some point?
Edit:
The hint text is currently the same. -
Pretty much this, except that the Incarnate System is increasingly tipping towards the "job" and away from the "fun" aspect.
-
Quote:The shunning of the new trials has already started on Triumph. The general populace will do exactly what they do now with the Keyes (though this is now getting run thanks to the changes on November 10) & Underground Trials: Players will avoid the new trials because they aren't worth the hassle. Players are STILL avoiding the Underground on Triumph and I don't see that changing.
-
Taunt and Gauntlet still work on any AVs that are considered "immune to mez".
-
Quote:Triumph seems to have skipped a step then as we're back to BAF, Lambda, and Keyes.TPN is actually far less complicated than MOM in terms of mechanics. It's just a matter of efficiency and tenacity. Both trials were completed during beta, after strategies were figured out. So please don't just say "It's too hard" then go back to running BAF and Lambda.

Quote:This guide explains how to see what your account has unlocked: A guide to finding out what you have unlocked from the market.I've been told that because I've been a player for so long (Tier 8 VIP), that when my subscription expires next year I'll still have access to Mission Architect, Inventions, purchasable ATs (e.g., Controllers, Masterminds), etc. -- basically everything except Signature Arcs and Incarnate content.
But where can I actually see this for a fact? I was looking at the Paragon Rewards tree, and I don't see anything there that says I'm getting all these things. Is there somewhere else I can look to confirm this? -

Quote:Domination protects the villain from Knockback/Knockup, Repel, Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, and Confuse effects, and can be activated even while suffering from them to break the villain free.Well, there are enemies that can ignore Domination boosted mezzes and mez you even though Domination's mez protection.
The point still stands. Everyone is affected equally by those particular holds. -
Seeing someone else brought this up:
Quote:http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/GamblingGambling means randomly winning or losing money, or exchangeable tokens that have money value, or chips that don't really have money value but can be exchanged for money, depending on how you look at that.
Let's see. You are using the first usage.Quote:Gambling [gam-buhl]
gam·ble [gam-buhl] verb, -bled, -bling, noun
verb (used without object)
1. to play at any game of chance for money or other stakes.
2. to stake or risk money, or anything of value, on the outcome of something involving chance: to gamble on a toss of the dice.
verb (used with object)
3. to lose or squander by betting (usually followed by away ): He gambled all his hard-earned money away in one night.
4. to wager or risk (money or something else of value): to gamble one's freedom.
5. to take a chance on; venture; risk: I'm gambling that our new store will be a success.
noun
6. any matter or thing involving risk or hazardous uncertainty.
7. a venture in a game of chance for stakes, especially for high stakes.
The second usage includes anything of value. I'm pretty sure that most players value costume and some players will value the ATOs.
The sixth usage also applies.
Do you agree that costumes or ATOs can be valued by players? If so, then it is gambling.Quote:But this is the sale of a randomized collection of virtual goods which are not necessary for players, and it's meant to provide players with something for their purchase. I'm seeing a distinct detachment between what we know so far and what people are assuming will happen. -
What was funny was that at the time I was actually surfing the forums quite well. It gave me the "sorry" page once when I tried to post, but less than a minute later I was happily surfing the forums again.
Even a little less would be an improvement.Quote:Talk of Ice Control and fixing Jack, "Jack is a little less derp."
Quote:Issue 22 will add a special tag to incarnate trial bosses to deal Containment damage to them, and on any big scary boss that is immune to control in the future. Here is the thing. Adding the containment tag to the Lts in BAF would not make it easier. It would make control powers more flexible, and it would allow control powers to help with any potential leaks while not actually mezzing the targets.Quote:Adding that Containment tag to the Lt's in BAF?
Hawk: "I don't want to make something that is already easy even easier. I can understand thematically why you'd want it. But from a gameplay point it doesn't need tweaking."
Hawk talks about playing Ice/FF back when the BAF trial mobs had no mez resistance.
My thought when I asked the question was "Every non-control power, every non-Controller inherent works on all the prisoners. However, every control power and the Controller's inherent power is specifically crippled for any critter that is flagged 'do not mez'. No other AT in the game is restricted to this degree." Basically I challenge the developers to name any instance where another AT is targeted like this.
Is there any content that negates any of the following?- Scrapper's chances of getting a Critical Hit?
- Dominator's prevented from using Domination?
- Blaster's Defiance not working?
- Tanks Gauntlet or Bruising not functioning?
- Brute's Fury build up?
- Defender's Vigilance?
- Mastermind's Supremacy pet bonus? Okay the Incarnate trials were a problem for MMs, but the pets have subsequently been buffed to incarnate levels while near the MM.
- Stalker's Assassination ability? That is getting looked at currently for I22.
- Corruptor's ability Scourge anything & everything?
- Arachnos Soldier's (Widows or Soldiers) getting their Conditioning ability?
- Peacebringer's Cosmic Balance? Okay they have to deal with nictus and other targeted damage, but over the years this has been so watered down that the nictus are minor annoyances.
- Warshade's Dark Sustenance? See Peacebringers.
- Controller's containment? Why yes, there is content to negate this inherent ability.
Letting the inherent work will not magically let the Controllers mez anything that is flagged not to be affected by mez, however it would offset the penalty that is imposed by any critter that becomes immune to their powers. Containment was supposed to offset the fact the because of the mez abilities that the powers were doing less base damage. -
Quote:I see the opposite happening. If the packs don't sell enough for them, they will put even more wanted items in them to further try to get people to buy the stuff they don't want. In other words they'll put the stuff they know will sell, to try to move the stuff they know won't sell. Actually the packs are already an example of that.I've no doubt in my mind that these super packs will take that into account. They'll probably release the packs as they are, let people collect a few, then after a while see if the response was good and offer a way to purchase single parts at elevated prices, essentially the same way you can go to a local comic shop and purchase the magic singles you want (if they're in stock).
No, I just have to worry about the next scheme that comes up. -

I'll be getting the artwork later today, and will post links. -

- Tonight's Top Story

I'll be getting the artwork later today, and will post links. -
Quote:PM sent as I don't want to derail this further.I apologize for stealing your thunder. I had no idea I was going to get this kind of reaction from posting a simple badge list. If I had known that you intended to post it later today, I would not have done so myself. And if it helps any, I certainly won't be posting any lists in the future.

Quote:There have been no patch notes relating to the TPN trial since Oct 28, except that they removed the mid-trial reward table on 11/04/11. The patch notes above are pretty much identical to that patch, except one tiny bit in the rewards section.Do you know that there were no changes to the TPN trial for a fact?
I don't know since I'm at work still but maybe they haven't, maybe they have made changes.

Heck, most of the initial patch notes for 20.5 are intact: Discussion: Issue 21 Special Update: Media Blitz : VIP-Beta Patch NotesQuote:Incarnate Trials- The mid-trial reward choice tables have been removed from TPN Campus, Underground, and Keyes Island, based on feedback that the table popping up is confusing and distracting. Quote:You might have given me a day.Well if you really feel that way, I'll delete the post. I was just trying to help out in the forums since I couldn't find any other topic outside of beta that even mentioned the badges
At any rate, don't bother now. You can't delete posts after people have replied to it.
It took away my control to edit the list before posting, it makes it harder for those looking for my list of badges to find the new badge list a few months down the line, and he didn't bother to wait even a day to see if I was going to do it.Quote:I don't get this at all. He gave credit to you so...what's your problem?
Edit: I'll also point out that only VIPs can do the Incarnate Trials, and all VIPs have access to that section of the forums.

), but I would not be averse to such a thing.
