the spam while annoying dosent bother me that much really, just the gold farmers messages that say "Sorry for bothering you" or the "This is the only way we can tell you about.."
I do like the ones that cant even spell "Trusted".... -
Quote:Thanks for the reminderBetter than ON 2xp weekend. Wait... wait. Champion and Protector (both also affected heavily this time) were down for a while then.

Quote:I knew that little varmit was planning this the whole time...Also, this wouldn't have made it to live if people had actually summoned the Rikti Monkey pet on Test.
On a side note Co* dosent have near the funding as like say WoW does and even WoW borks their patches a number of times. Its almost impossible to catch every single bug going through, Im just glad they pulled it off the servers once they realized it was messing them up. -
Quote:My home server woot! Sadly Hero side seems to be where you find most of the new players as to where red side we have fewer new players. This is 'sadly' as in red side could really use more people on Protector >_<. Im not sure how it is on other servers, but it seems heroes get most of the new players (we all wanna be heroes right?) hopping with going rogue numbers on both sides will even out, that and i cant wait to move my blaster red sideOver on Protector I meet quite a few new players. Heh, I've kind of made a hobby of it. Mostly they are running from Ms. Liberty to the AE and back again but a few, those glorious few, that stop and say hi and ask questions ( such as the ones who notice the fireballs I'm juggling and ask "how are you doing that?") are the ones worth encouraging.
additionally if you wanna see an AE that has few people in it Red Side is almost a ghost town most times, at least it has been the few times Ive been there to farm tickets for sets. -
I was wondering that myself. Bosses are good exp but only if you could down them at a fast rate. I was making more exp doing War zone missions than i did on that 'farm' that and I wasent bored out of my skill (also was working on the costume pieces!!)
Boss on farm i killed: 4k sometimes 5k
Warzone Mob: normal 1k, Lut about 2k, boss: 8-9k
Boss on farm was about 2-3 minutes to down
Warzone mobs in order: Norm 10-20s, Lut, 30 sec to 40 Boss: about 1 minute
on top of this I get the 'mission complete' alot more often at about 15k
I really dont see the benifit. I use AE for getting tickets and checking out player made missions, I dont see it as a more efficent way to get exp. -
This isnt WoW, you can have a borked build and still be able to do stuff. If you feel that the build they have is too borked to be useful dont group with them or ask them to poke around the forums for builds. I had a guy in one of my groups that had three travel powers. I asked him why he needed to get three of them he said it just made traveling easier for him (He had Fly, Super Jump and super speed). I told him he really didnt need three because having that many really wasent all that useful, however since it was PVE content it really didnt effect the outcome of the mission so i didnt really care. I just pointed him to the forum builds after we finished the mission.
Ive also been called a noob for having two travel powers on my stalker (Super jump and super speed) which i use to pvp with. *shrug*
Edit: lol anyone eles notice one of the tags for this thread is "Cheese with your whine?" :P -
Ive seen people level just as fast not doing AE stuff, I dont complain about people doing Newspaper missions, or constantly doing TFs. Its all the same really. The only reason its *quicker* now than "back in the day" is you have more sets to use, and IO sets to help out. You can make 50 within a week just doing newspaper missions on the first setting if you wanted to.

Quote:I think your missing the point, I have high levels on Protector. Why would I want to go start again fresh on another server when i have already invested a ton of time in those characters? Its not just the leveling from 1-50 either. Its the badges, IO sets, Super Groups ect invested in that server. Thats alot of time to invest in something just for someone to say "Quit crying about it and just move" (not saying thats what you mean just making a point). I pay for a service, granted 15 bucks isnt much to speak of, but its money I could put into another MMO, instead I put it into this one (i happen to like this game alot). The mall right next door is having a similar upgrade promotion.
On the contrary, DoubleXP Weekend is actually the best time to move around onto other servers. You can meet some new people, and get a head start in a place where you don't already have high characters or other resources that woudl help a new character along.
More seriously though, servers can go down at any time for any reason, and nobody owes you anything. They have already admitted a problem exists, and taken several servers down for extra maintenance already, and apologized for the inconvenience. I know it's not an excuse, but I don't know what else you people expect. It's not possible to just snap your fingers and have a perfect internet. lolz
That aside.. as a test, I just created a new character on Protector and have been on for half an hour (in Atlas) without any mapserve issue. I was broadcasting with some people for a while and they don't seem overly upset about the performance. Sure, it's a little annoying to get the occasional mapserve, but it's not interfering with their general gameplay (their words). Sounds to me like people are overreacting, using systems that can't handle a little extra network stress, or the issue was just temporary.
If anything, hanging out in Atlas on Protector was 100 times more network-friendly than Atlas on Freedom. I even ran a few missions to test teaming/zoning and AE.
Sorry, I don't see the problem here.
Now onto the mater of if they owe me anything or not. No they dont. These things happen and it will probably be fixed, but several servers have complained about this thus far, and if this is what we can expect if the servers get 'a little network stress' then there are probably going to be problems the next time they do this.
As for your 'test' 30 minutes in the newbie starter zone, i did that with same results, thinking it was fine at that point i logged on with my CoV character in Spider City and BAM, Map DC. and it was happening to several people when i asked there so i know it wasent just me, not only that but it was working 'okish' on Friday with the odd map DC but nothing major. Monday - thursday there was no map DC and during those days i was playing ALOT trying to level my brute to 50.
Its not to say i DIDNT make a new character eleswhere, I didnt want to waste the x2 exp, I was just not happy about it. also note the character I rolled was on Freedom where it seems I never encountered lag or a map DC. *shrug* i have no idea, it probably *IS* a Nemesis plot.
additionally, I know the internet is not perfect and things happen, i am however allowed to express my disapointment when a service I pay for goes down. I never insulted them, i never demanded they comp me in any way or say they were sorry and in general am quite happy with the service they provide.
useing your mall scenario again, you say if the mall is burned down go to another mall. Trust me when I say the people running this game DONT want you to go to another mall =) -
-
Quote:The mall isnt closed though, but the door slams on my face every few minutes making it hard to go anywhere, sadly all my items i bought there before this happened are still there, on top of this they are offering upgrades to the items I bought even though the mall is doing this. Then you are on the wrong server. They posted announcements about problems with it. Why are you surprised?
If the mall in your area had a fire and was closed for the weekend.. but you had some shopping to do.. would you go to the next town, wait til they reopened, or sift through the rubble?
Point of fact, all my high levels are on Protector. If they want to offer free transfers to fix the map server problem then yeah, I will move, but until then they should fix the problem once and for all. Its not to say they are not doing anything (do they take weekends off?) but people are understandably upset when an event like this goes on and they cant play the characters they WANT to level, instead of having to roll new ones.. -
Quote:From what i see its in two sections already, english is at the bottom. as for turning it off no IdeaOkay, so when I click on new posts (Which was what I used to do before the forum change (That I am displeased with)) I get a bunch of posts from the french and german forums. That wouldn't be a problem, except that I can only speak in English, bad English, and cat-in-the-hat vocabulary Japanese.
Is there any way to set this thing so I don't even see those forums, and they aren't included in the "new posts" part? -

Sounds like Protector may need more Riki Monkeys to power it or something.
-
Monday is a bit late for that if you actually WANT to get the x2 exp, also protector isnt a heavy load server as its never gone above one blip, do ALL the servers share a single mapserver or something?
-
On protector our map server keeps disconnecting. Anyone eles having these problems? its becoming un-playable
-
Ive been seeing this most of the day on Protector, accept mission, lag, then "lost connection to map server" then it comes back, then 'lost connection to map server' comes back for a bit, "lost connection to map server" then dead to all the 'catchup' attacks that the npcs seem to be doing. What gives? Its not my computer or internet connection as both are fine, and before friday it was fine for months. I would really like to finish leveling up my character but i dont see how thats gonna happen as all this dying to the map catching up is putting me in debt...

"Hey baby wanna go slot some IO's?"
"Super speed or Jump?"
"Super speed"
"sorry dont date guys with super speed..."

While in MA we need snacks and trainers, and for those that have been in there for days on end we need to give them this
Padding
Soap and some water wouldent hurt either..you ever sit next to a Brute after hes been MA'ing all day? *shudders*

One way to find out just wait and run one mission in AE and one out and compare the exp, more of a surprise like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know about you but I'd rather not waste that kind of time.
[/ QUOTE ]
What, running an AE mission, killing a few MOBs then quiting an seeing if the same MOBs in the 'real game' (god, that's a bad term) give more? yep, real hard and time consuming to test this.
[/ QUOTE ]
But when you have all the data plugged into Excel so you can get the highest exp-per-second, a few minutes can throw the calculations off and you wind up spending too much time without maximized experience gain!
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds like more work than its worth..Im just happy when I punch something, it dies, and i get exp.. -

QFT
I quit WoW
I stopped playing Lineage II
I don't play Guild Wars
I'm not playing EQ2 anymore
I'm sticking with this, the first MMO I tried. It's still the best experience overall. Not to mention I have yet to meet anyone who looks even remotely like any of my characters ... 4 years later.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is my first and only one I have played. I have no intention of trying any of the other ones.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair the MMO I played the most was WoW (most have played it at one point) and the original EQ. If i had said "I have no intention of trying any other ones" I would have never come here. Im an MMO junkie, Ive played all those listed here and then some and I can tell you each offers something a bit diffrent (cept EQ2, its a game that never sparked anything with me). i can honestly say this one is one of the most fun since I can solo most of the content and pick up a mish or two between chores/jobs (very good for that 'quick kill' fix you need after a bad day at work). Most times i keep two MMO's running but given the blandness of alot of them these days I just gave up and will be here till a good SciFi one shows up (so sick of elves/fantasy)
Will MA farming kill anything? naw, just the prices at the market, but players adapt. people who just leave due to something like that probably had more issues with the game than that, and if they leave because of MA IMO thats just silly. -
Ive noticed some missions dont seem to award exp even though the mobs are equal to or higher level than you, am i the only one expirencing these problems?
-
Most of my white salvage just gets tossed up on the market for 1 inf unless its like a luck charm or something, just to get credit to the next market badge. This is of course CoV side where the market is some what less filled than the hero side. When i need white salvage i just buy it, most of its not that much to begin with and after you get out of the 20 and below range it seems to get better in price. I never have used tickets to get white salvage, normally I just use it to get recipes which sell better anyway (since all you get are set recipes i think), some times for rare salvage. But for sure drops its to the market for me.

AE is a wonderful innovation. It can be fun, just like everything else in the game. It has greater potential for abuse, but also great potential for fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
"With great power comes great responsibility" sorry had to do that =) However to answer the post with my own views. I dont see anything wrong with AE to be sure. Can it be abused? Yeah sure but so can a number of things. I enjoy seeing mission that other players make (some done very well!) and it breaks having to do the same old missions every time i decide to roll a new character. Would i run them if they had no rewards? no, I probably would not. I wouldent run any mission if i didnt have something to gain from it (unless its helping a friend or VG mate). sad thing is i prefer to run the normal missions rather than the AE ones anyway but never would i dream of taking away the AE system just because I felt it took away from my own play style.
