I like the Dire Wolf, but we REALLY need to mix it up a bit. We already have three wolves in the Beast Set, so a Polar Bear would give the set a better variety. Something like this:

An even better though-out, non-rant about F2P.

Some very good points for and against. -

Anyways, bringing back up older suggestions: A while ago there was a big discussion with Noble Savage about how to handle old pieces and a lot of people leaned towards "up rez but don't reinvent". While obviously it wasn't unanimous, it did touch on a major sentiment on how some parts of the costume editor are viewed. Copy/pasting a quote for a moment:
My suggestion/request is to actually work on a few higher resolution variants for a few of the pieces like the Bikini top and bottoms. While a lot of cool stuff is coming out, refreshing the patterns will help a lot.
Been wanting textures on masks for years. -
Could we get a little more viciousness in the wolves in the Beast MM set? Something a little more like this;
-
Quote:Well I had an idea where the set was a melee set where as you grow larger, your attacks become more cones and aoe's. As you shrink, your attacks become more single-target and more accurate. On the inverse, as you grow, your resistance to damage increases, but your defense decreases. As you shrink, your resist drops, but your defense increases (in the vein of agility).I'm pretty sure Growth/shrink is implausible within the game mechanics. Growth would be limited to the point of uselessness by the indoor maps, and Shrink would be predominantly useless in a stat combat game. I don't see it bringing anything interesting to the table, gameplay wise.

I could see animated costume pieces acting as alternate animations for certain power-sets. This could give you the wrist guns or shoulder rockets from the AR set.
-
I think Growth/Shrink is the lowest hanging fruit of all that are still outstanding. It's all a matter of making the set and establishing the range of size.

Since we live in a F2P(free-to-play) world here, I found this repose to be a good expression of the feeling many have about the system.

Where would those micro-missiles come from since we can't tie powers to costumes.
-
I don't know how good they will be in the "Leather-Men" universe
-
I would like to know what will happen in Sharkshead, with it being, ya know, on the back of a giant Incarnate.
-
Quote:Actually, it does.
The Midnighters, Resistance and loyalists all have exclusive areas that can only be accessed by people who've joined them, the Vanguard give out special merits and perks to members, temp powers can summon allies, zone mobs can con non-hostile, scanners, newspapers and contacts can all give repeatable missions, and contacts and NPCs can recognize player achievements and status - if they put all of those existing functions together, they could give players a pretty good impression of being an important part of an organization.
And yet here we are at issue 23 24 and none of that has happened. It's like they throw out these neat new mechanics, but never expand on their use. -
To be honest, if Marvel had bought this game instead of trying to sue it, I think it would have been something awesome.
-
Slowly, but surely, Marvel is starting to let the "tail wag the dog". The movie is infecting the other universes where stories and characters are being adapted more to the movies than vise-versa. If the movies start to tank, there will be a lot of collateral damage.

Quote:... doesn't the Universe itself have a personification in the Marvelverse?
That's Eternity. Although every major aspect of reality has a personification as well, so Eternity is the body of the universe, but must often counsel with the other forces to come to a consensus on universal matters. -
Quote:I would love to see an actual example of of a free-form game that is also balanced.More to the point, it prevents Tankmages at level 1. Most of the MMO design community still seems deathly afraid of this. If they designed a better game system to begin with, then they would have nothing to fear from giving players more freedom. Open power selection only results in a broken game when the game as a whole isn't designed properly.

This! I would prefer him in Shazam, but give him a "Crow-Style" makeover, dreads and a foul mouth and it's a wrap.
-
Sooo many characters to change!
-
I hate the recon of the Beyonder. As a universe unto himself, he should be equally matched with Eternity, but well above the Celestials and the Molecule man.

Just take the DCUO trailer and make it into a movie.

Quote:When Praetoria was released, the Dev's introduced the 'neutral' targeting faction. IE, the 'gold reticle'.
This is a TREMENDOUS feature. It allows enormous storytelling flexibility, and is the key technology that would allow free transit to all zones.
If you are a villain going to Paragon, all those Longbow patrols, all those PPD all over the place, they are no long untargetable NPC's, they are now gold box neutrals. They aren't SURE you're up to no good, but as soon as you take a swing....they know.
Add in the 'Seers-like' ability to radio for backup (PPD BACKUP RADIO!) and this makes things much more interesting.
Honestly, I have been a bit disappointed that the Dev's have not exploited the gold reticle a bit more. It is a tremendous tool for making dynamic content, just tremendous.
For example: "Lowby" zones tend to be a bit underused. King's Row, IP, etc. It would be fairly simple to sprinkle in a fair dose of neutral-set high level badguys. They're on patrol, but they're just chillin', because this is easy detail....Until it's not. Take a swing, and they go off on you.
You could have entire neutral factions, even. Heck, all of Malta and Cage SHOULD be set to neutral on the streets, and maybe in most missions. Malta isn't going to bother with a street battle, and Cage is curious to know if you have any cash on you before they start shooting.
Carnies should be a neutral faction. The Shadows aren't fighters, they're LOVERS, they just want to have fun and party and suck in the innocent and the unwary for a little soul-searching. Punching supers in the face is not a party activity.
Etc, etc, etc.
Granted, this would be a lot of work to implement, but it'd be cooool.
I have to agree here. This tech too makes factionless zones more feasible. -
Why not use the "zone morphing" tech from Recluse' Victory? In these zones where heroes and villains have competing objectives, us this tech with a measure based on mission completions.
