I can't remember exactly how the invite systems work, but I know your fullname would be /invite Animorph@"globalname". The one server deal will be seperated into 'shards' kinda like how sometimes we have "Atlas Park 1" and "Atlas Park 2" on the same server. Again not sure how that'll work.
And just to let you know Balance, I actually have the name Spartacus. He's a higher level so I'm kinda iffy about letting him go, but I MIGHT work out a trade or something. -
I just recently learned about how on Champions Online there wont be a name limit, per say. You'll have your "global name" that's unique and then any name for your character you can pick. So there could be 500 Captain X's and 12 Animorphs, ect, ect.
Personally I'm a little torned, but leaning one sidded. I really do like the idea because there's been hundreds of times where I'm sitting at the character screen trying to find a name to fit a concept because of course the one I would of liked was taken.
But at the sametime, I kinda like knowing that I'm the only "Animorph" in 'my universe' (Virtue). Also, with Virtue for the most part being a close knit server, if I were to be in Atlas and see someone meantion someone like DragonBerry or Hardi Har Har, I would automatically know who they're talking about.
Of course I'm sure this will never come to CoX, but was just curious to see if you guys would want this option in our game? -
Is it just me or has there been more and more people like this around Virtue since AE showed up? Before people of Virtue would tell people like to go to Freedom, lol, but as of late I don't really see a difference in our servers.
I know, I know, beat the dead horse... -
Quote:.....OK I'll be nice....yeah do to the fact that u guys only ae now it really kills the game ya know
which is why im starting this sg for the peeps whoo wanna play the game and do all of the awsome content thats just being ignored
First off, the whole "u guys only ae now it really kills the game" comment, not a good way to get people to join your group. Honestly it makes you seem like a little kid and no one wants to join a SG that has a immature kid as the leader.
Second, I'm guessing you're somewhat new to CoX and/or possibly new to Virtue. You said it's an RP SG, well just from what you posted I seriously doubt you'll get many people wanting to join. Serious RPers around Virtue want to know about the group before joining. They want to know the name of the group, the theme, how it's going to be set up, what you have in mind of leadership and roles, how active you plan to be, ect, ect, ect.
If you want people to join you'll need to post more info about the group and what your plans are, but to be honest I really think you shot yourself in the foot with your last post. -
With power customization being one the major deal with i16, do you think they'd actually let everyone look at it in the character create screen? I would imagine that's a major thing that only the closed beta invites get to see right now.
But of course I may be wrong. -
Thanks for the responce. Just found this out aswell after copying my guy over to the test and trying to enter the base....*sigh* Now to decide if I want to take a chance or not...
-
I have a 'apartment base' and I have an idea for a new one but not sure how it's going to look. I spent alot of time on my current apartment and would hate to start a new one just to see that my idea isn't going to work out.
If I copy my guy to the test server, can I work on my base there and no worry about damaging anything on the live server?
Thank you. -

Is this pack ever going to go live within the next few decades?
[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously have you read any of the posts in this thread?
I want the booster to go live as much as the next guy, but with all these bugs they're better off working it out on the test server instead of having to try and patch it after it's gone live.
In reality this is the biggest booster to date and adds something the game never had to deal with before so it's gonna take a little longer to work out.
Trust me, I was right here complaining to a week ago then I got on the test server and read the forums and seen that it really would be a bad idea to release it this soon. -
It's cool that I got to see my new tank on test and see how it'll look, but now it's making me want to have the booster on live even more lol.

Dang it Devs! You seen what you've done?!
Due to his excitement and anxiety over when the Science Booster will be out, Slax hasn't slept in weeks.
His mind is slowly turning to goo and everything he says comes out cluttered and sounding like some delusional website prophet spitting out words and phrases that only he can understand... -

so anyone have any idea whats holding back the science booster pack?
problems? bugs?
I thought it was going to go on sale the same time as I15.
think maybe this week it will be available? or is it going to take weeks?
[/ QUOTE ]
I've maybe missed an announcement somewhere, but I don't think they ever gave an estimate on when it'd be pushed to live. How long were the others in testing before they got released?
Personally, I'm dismayed at the lack of bubble helmets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it was originally stated that it would go live around the time i15 did, but that statement has magically disappeared :-)
Dang Dev Mafia....
My guess is that they're trying to figure out a way not to have the NCStore blow up again with so many people trying to buy it. -
Not trying to nit-pick since I know what you're trying to say but I think left some parts out.
I'm guessing what you're trying to say is that items, like the boosters, should be placed in the store 14-30 days before they're actually released into the game as a pre-order.
People could buy them and use the seriel code on their account and once the content goes live then the player automatically has the booster as if he or she had just purchased it.
I think it's a good idea, but one problem I see is that many people believe that the science booster is already in the game and that you just have to have the code to access it. If this is true then if they did a pre-order then people would have the content before the devs wanted to release it since the player would already have the serial code entered in. -
No problem and didn't realize ST had a rep. I remember him but not much about him.

Psh man I've solo'd Sally so many times it's not even funny...
Ok that just kinda sounds kinda bad... -

The firey-ness is cool. I'm just pointing out the fact that this is a nightmare for nitpicky RP addicts like me :P Just making a mountain out of a molehill, though I'm somewhat suprised nobody else shares my annoyance.
Incidentally, it does look awesome on my Fire/Stone Brute, and on my Stalker (Djinni and fire mesh well, though I wish I could turn it green...). I'm hoping they'll come up with more /cce's spanning differant elements, since we now have Lightning* and Fire.
*NOTE: I'm a tightwad and don't wanna pay for the magic booster...Yet. I'll crack someday.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did think it was kind of weird that it used fire but at the same time it does look cool. I guess it's good to have the fire one since most of the other emotes use smoke.
As far as elements, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they use Hibernate as an emote. -
Try @Dollhouse I think she leads/lead the group.
If memory serves right SoulTrain lead a group of reformed Carnies; Le Carnivale Rene'. -

This is his post/blog about his last day with CoH. He goes back and does the exact samething, then wonders why he gets the responce.
EDIT: Wow. I was reading the replies from his site and a woman was discussing the matter with him and making valid points. He was responding and answering her questions respectfully, but once he found out that she was "just a player" and not someone at a 'his' level he just blew her off. -

So why isn't anyone offended by the idea that other players would verbally abuse and insult someone (including making real-world threats against the player) because his behavior in game isn't considered appropriate?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because judging from the threats, it was probably a teenager making the threats. Think about high school, you do something someone doesn't like their responce is something the lines of "I'm gonna kill/punch/hurt you if you don't stop, for real/not kidding." And nine times out of ten it's an empty threat.
*shakes head*
Why does it have to be someone from Louisiana?
I somewhat remember a character named Twixt, but I don't remember it ever getting this out of hand. Something else that he failed to mention was that the game has servers. He's acting like it was the entire community acting like that instead of just a group of people who play on his server at the same time he does.
Not to knock on Freedom, but if he's doing a research on a community then he would go to the server that's the most populated, being Freedom, and Freedom really is full of kids and/or players that want you to play like them.
Something else I find stupid, (ok there's alot of things I find stupid in this article) is that the article stated that [i]"Myers, who bought "City of Heroes" when it hit store shelves in 2004, quickly learned that players ignored the area's stated purpose."[/i}
City of Villains and the PvP zones didn't come out until October 2005. He had a little over a year to have his "experiment" on the community and then this one thing happened and he's basing the entire CoX population on it.
Two things I find very hard to believe is 1) "...players ignored the area's stated purpose. Heroes chatted peacefully with villains in the combat zone. Instead of fighting each other, members of the two factions sparred with computer-controlled enemies.."
I was pretty big into PvP when it came out and for awhile afterward. I very rarely seen heroes and villains standing around talking with each other. When I did it was always somewhere hidden where other characters wouldn't easily come in and interupt them. On top of that I had never once seen heroes and villains working together to fight the computer enimies, but I may be wrong.
2)"At first, players tried to beat him in the game to make him quit. Myers was too skilled to be run off, however....Mobs of villains then ambushed Twixt, hoping to defeat him so often that he would quit.....One by one, Twixt coolly picked his opponents off. As play sessions passed, popular villains and heroes stepped up their attempts to change him."
Come on now, seriously, if all the guy can do is TP Foe them into the guns then there's no way he could "cooley defeat" the whole mob. Back then one stalker could take him out easily. Also if he's TPing them into the guns, then players would eventually just stop going to him.
There's a difference from "following the games rules" and doing something that you know just pisses people off. He was wanting to get a bad responce from people for his research so he found something that would piss people off and did it.
To be honest it seems to me that he played the game as a fan of it, ticked people off, continued to tick people off and then tried to justify it as being research.
Sorry for my rant, I'm in my 6th year at working toward my Masters in Child Psychology and Minor in Social Psychology and it bugs the hell out of me when people twist words and situations around to get their desired report. It's even easier to do on a subject like MMOs that only concerns a low percentage of the majority population of the country. So people read the report, see that he's a professor and automatically think, "This guy knows what he's doing and talking about, people that play these MMOs really have no lives." -
