This was brought up quite a bit in beta.

That would imply it is being worked on, there has nothing to give me that impression.

Really, this should have already been done. It should have been done within an issue of the initial release. I agree that they are just chasing the new shiny. I love this game, and I really like most of the Devs, but this is a ball that has been dropped.
  3. I almost didn't buy it, because I don't really need it. It is also a huge pain for most of my characters. I pretty much only play scrappers and brutes, both are toggle heavy. Which means when I land, I have to retoggle before jumping into a fight.

I could see where it is a great power for any AT with very few toggles though.

I still bought it, because I want more things like it. If it sells well, I am sure they will make more cool stuff like it. I want a motorcycle so bad.

    Barbarian Set

There is no monstrous version of the gloves. I love the set, but I wish I could place a pattern on the legs with the loin cloth. I am not sure why they didn't make it a kilt/shorts option, so that we could choose the legs we want to use.

All in all, I love most of the items. There however seems to be a trend where females are getting more options in these sets, I could be wrong.

I love the weapon options, the male belt, and the male chest details. I managed to make a pretty good He-Man look today, and that was very cool.

Agreed, and that is why I will be skipping them for now. I had intended to purchase one more tray, that will not be the case now.

Yes. I do all of my online purchases with a Walmart money card, this includes the one I did today.
  7. I ended up getting the Barbarian package deal, rocket board, the back pack, aura unlocks (hate that mission), and 2 costume slots.

I dropped $50 on points, and will do another $50 on Friday. I am mostly looking forward to new melee sets, and costume items.
  8. I know there are a bunch of us who can't log into the boards, but they can speak up later.

What are you going to buy in the market first? What is that one thing that you must have no matter what they have change the cost to?

I know I will grab at least one costume slot, but past that I will grab any new male costumes they have added.
  9. I will be staying on Virtue.
  10. This is the first time I have been able to log in to the boards since yesterday. I am not so worried about my avatar.

Next, range. Marines have it. Romans won't even come close to that with their Javelins and their arrows aren't going to match it either.

Never mind the Marine Sniper that comes with the group to pick off Romans one by one before they know what's happening.

Never we have the Humvees. 100mph! 100 points for every Roman! That's right! Why even waste the ammo? You can plow right through them! Nevermind the Bulldozers that also have.

Then lets add in modern weaponry! Grenades/rocket launchers! AOE \o/

the Marines would have it. Nevermind the helicopters, that even if it didn't frieghten the Roman's would just make short work of them. Run out of ammo? Bet they could give a few Roman's some haircuts before they knew what was happening.

It's just not a fair fight. It just sounds like the Romans stand a chance, but really they don't. And there's plenty of ways for them to conserve gas/energy to make sure they win it, and it's silly to think they wouldn't if needed.
Brand covers it very well. Do you guys realize that the GAU-19 mounted on a Hummer can fire up to 2,000 .50 cal rounds per min? That bulled will punch all the way to the back ranks of a roman line.

Which means with the way the Romans line up 1 sniper shooting a .50 cal rifle could kill multiple soldiers in a single shot. There is a good reason we no longer line up in combat.

Have you guys considered the damage an RPG would do to a group of soldiers attempting to do a shield turtle? It would be very bad.

I suggest watching Locked and Loaded on the History Channel. I am not sure how many of you guys the devastation modern weapons can dish out unless you have seen it first hand. As a paramedic I have seen the damage non-military ordnance can do to the human body, and it only gets worse.

Also, a flack vest will stop just about anything the legions used short of siege engines.

Wasn't the natural pack the Martial Arts pack? I am not sure any respectable ninja would wear that. :P

I do see where you are coming from, I have wanted quivers and scabbards forever.

And I'm not just saying this because her move to another game and the debut of Lighthouse led to my instant banning... Okay, partially...
When I first started reading this I was wondering if you would bring up the banning.

Things like the weekly ustream and participation on the boards are what made me make the comment. The team as a whole seems more connected now than in the past. This could be because there is more of them, and that NCsoft actually cares about the game, where as Cryptic just shoved it to the side. No disservice was meant towards Cuppa, but I will admit I like Zwill better.

A lot has changed though. The general attitude of the devs seems to have gone from "It can't be done" to "It can be done, but would take massive amounts of time" this is a good change IMO. I miss some of those who have departed like BABs and Castle, but the current team seems to have a fresher outlook. Again, a good think IMO.

Shoot this is a 7 year old MMO that is still relevant, and I can only think of one other that can make that same claim. I feel it can continue to be relevant with the team that is in place. I hope Freedom floods in enough cash that even more people need to be hired, and what we want will get here even faster. For me that means they need to hire more people for the art team.

Apparently the only REAL reason we haven't gotten back costume items until now is that the Devs were unwilling to give our collective ability to tolerate some clipping a chance
I think it is more an issue of bang for the buck. Freedom allows to make these things piece meal, and not have to dedicate weeks to nothing but back details. They have made it clear that we will get more costumes faster because they no longer have to release them in huge packages.
  14. I still pretty much hate the hair the most. My wife is pissed that they removed the briefs look, but it doesn't bother me much. I think the movie is going to flop no matter what though.

Then, however, there are people like me, and to sidestep the argument of comic books let me give a different example - the common fictional representation of sexes (side-step into a pit, but roll with it). Watch any trailer for any game which gives you classes and lets you pick your character's gender and you'll almost always see big strong men serving as the warriors, tanks or heavy infantry while women serve as mages, archers, marksmen (marks...women?) techs, scientist and anything else that's seen as less brutish and physical. I really don't want to challenge popular preconception here at all, that's not my point. But to me, this is the "base," this is what's expected. So when I sit down to make characters of my own, I start to think what I could do that HASN'T been done before. Yes, cute bruisers, matriarch and so forth have been done in the past, but they are significantly less common in fiction, and as such they draw my attention.
I am not sure this is the case anymore. I have noticed that there are more and more warrior women in fiction.

Any way, for me more is better when it comes to costumes. I may not use those new costumes, but I still enjoy seeing them in the game. I never play female characters, because I like to player characters that I relate to, and well I am not female. That is just me, and I don't hold it against anyone who does like to play characters of the opposite sex.

As for game systems, I like new stuff, and new ways of doing things. I really am not so attached to the old that I am resistant to change.
  16. I guess it would have been fair to make some suggestions on how to change Hasten.

I feel the most friendly would be to change so that it adds a blur effect like we see with SR. With that most auras and power effects could cover it.

If still want horribly flaming hands, they can use an aura for it.

It's not like I expect the Devs to be monitoring these forums 24/7 but you'd think that most of the suggestions that've come up regularly for years would not be considered "brand new" to the Devs.
To be fair, Zwill is the most involved community rep we have ever had. There is no telling how much stuff never got passes on to a Dev. We seem to be hitting all new heights of Dev involvement in the game, which is a good thing.

Most importantly, this isn’t a task that requires only FX time. To implement these options into the powers customization screen, we need UI and code time. It’s true that we’ve already added an additional heading to this screen for Incarnate powers, but that was just one heading. We will need to add several headings to the powers customization screen to implement pool powers customization. And by several, I mean more than the screen can currently support. We also need code to help us address the question of whether all of the possible ancillary, patron and regular pools are visible in the screen at character creation, or whether they are added later in the game as you choose your powers. The first option will require code time, and the second option will require more code time. Then we'll need a UI artist to revise the powers screen and make sure it's as readable and attractive as possible.

I know some of you are really dying for an update on the state of pool powers customization. Being one of many people necessary for this feature, I'm not the best person to share this information. When and if there is solid information, we'll make an announcement.
I never mind being quoted by a Dev.

I see where you are coming from, but I think there are really only a few big culprits. Those would be Hasten, Super Speed, and the Medicine Pool. These are the ones I can remember seeing the most complaints about.

I will be honest, I really HATE the hasten FX, it needs to be changed to something that can fit any theme, and not obscure the work people put into their costumes and concepts. Sadly, for some builds it is just too good to skip. I get that changing how it has been may tick some people off, I still think it is worth changing, and I know that is me being selfish.

Thanks for the answer though. I know you guys realize how important pool customization is to us, and I can only pray that it is being worked on in the background. We harass everyone we know to harass about it, care to give us another name to add to the list?
  19. I really really hope we get the long skirt, and the large gloves the Death Mage wears, and they just didn't show it. I can still use the other stuff, but I have a feeling that long skirt is what the majority of us wanted.

I like the back pack, but I doubt I will ever use it.

    News from PAX

Did the show pictures of the back packs?
  21. Posi hinted in a ustream that there would be some discussion about back details/backpacks. That is what I am excited about.

I expect that stuff will be in today's panel though.
  22. Change the animation for Hasten.

    Now for a serious answer.

Most of what I would do, I see the Dev attempting to do in this version of CoX. The main thing would be to dump using a different model for mobs and players. I would also go a bit deeper into customization, much like the competition did.
  23. Scrapper KM/EleA for now, soon it will be my Street Justice/Invul scrapper.

QFT. Not to mention that style of point fighting (even the ring fighting) that they did was sadly lacking in comparison to MMA fights of today.
