  1. Thanks for posting this EG, I wasn't awake quite as early as you were this morning it seems .

We're hoping to have this addressed at some point either later this week or next week. For now, unfortunately, the work around will have to suffice .

And for those who will ask: The reason it will take "so long" to correct is that this is a database + code issue (which is why the work around works: when you change your password, even to the same password, it updates the format the password is communicated in back and forth between authorization servers) which as many know, code = time.

    Thanks for your patience everyone

    • We are still working on a way to filter past purchases, however there's some snags with how the database plays with individual items, past purchases and bundles. It's a known request and something we're working with our partners to figure out.
    • There's certain restrictions we have to operate within when implementing a in game web browser (the Paragon Market) in a way that it doesn't impact game performance and is lightweight enough that it also doesn't impact client install. We're always going to be looking for ways to improve the interface, and appreciate your feedback.
    • Pricing wise, items will go on sale, on a weekly basis. So be sure to watch for the featured items as we rotate them out. And who knows, you may even see those enhancement slots .

VIP Transfer Tokens not immediately available
The VIP Character Transfer Tokens will not be available to players with the launch of the City of Heroes Freedom VIP Head Start. We plan to include these in a patch that will go live early next week. Players will be granted their token upon the first login after the patch.

  3. Please note that Signature Story Arcs are not available during the VIP Headstart. SSA's will launch with the launch of Freedom. Please do not file a customer support appeal regarding this.

    Thanks!

    Fixed
  5. There should have been some significant price changes...maybe not to the *specific* items you were looking at, however check items such as some of the costume pieces and the Enhancement Boosters.
  6. How about that...it's goldenrod instead of gold
  7. The HTML color is quite literally "gold"

I'll check some other hues of HTML Hex coded color and see what I can come up with.

If this were fixed I'd simply buy up any packs I hadn't (I think two), but since I can't trust the game not to rip me off for things I paid cash for already I won't be buying costume packs.
This should have been *mostly* filtered out through some backend work, at least for individual purchases and costume pieces. There are some bundled items that were impossible to filter out however.
  9. In preparation for the rollout of Freedom, and also preparing for the possibility of giving Free and Premium users *limited* forum posting capability we're going to be testing some changes to how your forum accounts function as VIP subscribers. You'll notice some updates throughout the next few weeks, so please stay tuned.
  10. We are still working on the issue preventing players from logging into the official forums, however as a workaround, some players may be able to log into the forums by updating their *game account* password. We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you updated.
  11. Maintenance Completed : All live servers are now open to players. The Paragon Market is also available, and VIP players should now have the bonus points that they have accumulated since July 1st, 2011.

    ---

We will be taking down all the live servers tomorrow morning in order to continue the process of publishing Issue 21: Convergence. This downtime will begin at 4:00am PDT (7:00am EDT; 12:00pm BST; 13:00 CEST) and is expected to last approximately 5 hours, and we hope to have servers available to players at 9:00am PDT (12:00pm EDT; 5:00pm BST; 18:00 CEST). As part of this maintenance we will be bringing the Paragon Market online and granting all VIP players their bonus points accumulated since July 1st, 2011.

Thank you for your continued support.
  12. This new *fixed* version of the launcher was live as of 7 PM PDT.

Let me know if there's further issues with it.
  13. Just got off of Ustream, so apologies for not updating prior to this.

There is currently an issue where the launcher is not recognizing OS 10.5 as a supported version. We're working on getting this fix up tonight, as in very soon™. IMPORTANT - If you installed a previous version, please uninstall the LAUNCHER ONLY and reinstall the new version when it is live.

I don't plan on leaving tonight until this is resolved, so I'll update you guys when the new version of the mac launcher is available.

    Thanks for your patience!

  14. The script to grant accumulated points is one of the final things we will be doing before bringing the Market online.

    Doom redacted.

  15. We still do not have an ETA for the servers coming online. We will update as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the delay.
  16. There appears to be an issue with 10.5 and older.

We're looking into having this corrected tomorrow morning.
  17. The system isn't designed to punish "aggressive" playstyles, only to detect, and prevent, egregious exploitation. The examples provided are pretty explicit as to what you would have to simultaneously defeat to trigger the throttle.

Yes, but you didn't have pictures.

  19. /FLEE!!!

Nothing but love! We'll see many of you tonight for the Galaxy City sendoffs across the servers!
  20. The issue with the Market will, of course, be included with the Known Issues.

    Issue 21 - MARTy

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that City of Heroes remains an environment where everyone enjoys a safe and fun online experience we will be introducing a new anti exploit detection measure in Issue 21. We’d like to take a few moments of your time to answer some questions about this new system, MARTy.

    What is MARTy?

MARTy stands for Metric Activated Reward Throttle (Y? Because exploits are bad!)

What is the goal of MARTy?

The primary purpose of MARTy is to automatically detect and prevent exploitative behavior by constantly analyzing the rate at which players gain rewards in game. This applies to many different rewards such as INF and Experience.

A secondary goal is to throttle only the worst offenders; those who exhibit truly exploitive behavior that ruins the game for everyone. If you trigger MARTy you are going to know that you are doing something abnormal and exploitive.

    Will MARTy affect my gameplay?

The system runs entirely in the background on the game server and will have no impact on your in game experience.

Is MARTy installed on my computer?

No. MARTy is a server side function.

What about things that augment how quickly I gain Experience, such as XP Boosts or Patrol XP Benefits?

MARTy is aware of and takes into account all of these systems.

How fast is too fast for MARTy?

While we won’t reveal the exact formula behind what makes MARTy tick, any one of the following circumstances would qualify as “too fast”:

    - Simultaneously defeating every, single enemy in Perez Park.
    - Simultaneously one-shotting the entire Freedom Phalanx, Arachnos Patrons *and* Praetors.

How will players know that they’ve triggered MARTy?

If a player’s actions have triggered MARTy they will stop receiving rewards for a variable amount of time. Additionally, a log of the player’s activity is recorded for review.

It is important to note that MARTy is not aimed at one specific playstyle or Mission type. The threshold at which MARTy is triggered is such that, through normal, or even aggressive, gameplay, a player should never be impacted by any penalties. We have been vigorously testing MARTy against live server and Beta server metrics and have ensured that even the most aggressive normal gameplay will not be impacted. We will, of course, continuously monitor this new anti exploit measure to ensure that it is effectively performing its task.

    Thanks for your continued support!

  23. You will be able to obtain the Tier 9 awards after they've been cycled out. More on the specifics for that later, but rest assured they will not be one time availability.
