Quote:It's good to see that your parents instilled in you such a robust sense of proportion, while mine clearly let me sit around stabbing people. No, that was a correct statement on what happens when kids aren't raised properly and an opinion. Nowhere was an insult typed or a person named for it to be an insult. And i do feel sorry for people like that because alot of times it leads to criminal acts like HATE CRIMES and such.

Sure, hence why I ridiculed him. Same as I would if he'd complained about his farm being shut down. The devs put the information there, it's at the top of the page; what more do you want?

Quote:Hence why I drew the comparison to a large sign written on the wall designed to direct people's attention towards the information they're likely to come here to seek.Obviousness is subjective.
What's moronically simple to you may not be immediately apparent to someone else and vice versa.
Like, you know, the guides. -
I'm reminded of a post you made a long time ago about the time you discovered that Mask of Vitation had to make a tohit check. I was in a similar boat last week, and had the same heart-in-throat moment in response. Good times.

In particular, one person who has a very, very low tolerance for people who will stand in front of a sign saying 'THIS WAY TO THE EXIT' who then cry to the room that they don't know how to find the exit.
WITCHES I say. WITCHES. -
Quote:My point, blithely missed, is that the expressions and opinions of people who do not know these things are not particularly useful contributions to a discussion.
You met someone who didn't know what they were talking about, that doesn't equate to the majority of players not noticing long cast times.
Nor is seeking the support of a silent and unsupporting majority. -
About as popular as it is.
The majority of players don't notice long cast times, or care. I listened to someone talking about her rationale for keeping Total Focus was because it was great for pulling aggro. On her blaster.
Even if you could prove a plurality of support, popularity is still not a good measure for the balance of a powerset. -
If you fire your nuke and, while it's animating, jam on a blue, your end bar will creep down, but not hit zero, before the blue's endurance 'arrives.' Practical upshot is that you can 'restock' without toggling down.
I've done it on my fire/fire blaster; he of course has Consume to top up with that small dish of endurance when he moves on to the next spawn. -

You don't know me being snide, kid.
Hey, here's a fantastic idea! Why don't you look at the stickies at the top of this whole forum page and learn anything about anything before you come in here whining that things are too expensive and therefore, cannot be purchased at all. Is that unreasonable? -
I haven't seen a single resistance-socketing comment in those powers since Issue 9.
-
No, you just need to pay 25mil or more.
You can't make 25mil or more?
Well, I guess nobody can. I guess the market is just fuelled by witches. -
Quote:Absolutely. I mean, if you take a question as an insult, sure.wow. no questions about what difficulty settings or anything. just right into insults =/
You aren't asking about the difficult mechanisms, the nuances, the tactics of the stalker. You're not able to glean the core of the mechanics through your own play, so you're clearly quite new to this; in which case, you shouldn't be dialling up the difficulty and expecting it to work out your own way.
In the simplest way I can express it: If you encounter a mechanic that works in a particular way, don't approach it with the idea this is wrong because it does not work the way I want it to, but rather why is this the way it is? I told you why it's that way - it's a tool to add value to stalkers on teams, because stalkers didn't need any help in solo scenarios.
Are you arguing that you do need help soloing? -
Quote:Solo, how bad do you need to be that you can't immediately off a surgeon or sapper without AS?I understand what you're saying, but that seems to be a rather strange design decision. It forces me as the player to choose between:
a.) AS a high priority target like a Sapper or Surgeon
or
b.) AS a target that will survive so I can demoralize a spawn
I would think that it would be better to encourage players to play tactically than to attack the tankiest target =/ -
It's especially damning considering how the lack of Cathedral of Pain was the death of the game. Real shame the whole game withered and died on the vine in 2007.

Quote:As we know, any well-planned build will have amazing end drain protection and an even more amazing self-heal. Apparently.No. This video highlights the strengths of a well planned build.
I did not say 'exclusively highlights,' Hyper. I said 'highlights.' Two of the things that Dark Amour can do and is shown in those videos is walk off end drainers like Carnies and Malta without fear, and when things go badly and they are, in fact, losing attrition fights, reset their health to full from almost nothing. I don't know any other armour set that can do both. -
Solution 1... sure. I'm pretty much jaded to any ifs-ands-or-buts excuses on farms at this point. Quite frankly, I'd rather drive away people too stupid to read the in-game information about what not to do than put up with the pox of clamouring whiners we have who are so insensitive about their story that the diminishment of XP earning directly translate to a complete failure of the whole system.
Solution 2. I like this idea a lot, especially since right now, the granulised system is really bad and awkward for review purposes. What makes an arc 5 star for me might not make it a 5 star for someone else. All we have at this point is a system which blitheringly tries to quantify 'liked it' and 'disliked it,' and handles it badly.
Solution 3. Farms get run a lot. :\ -
The issue is a little more nuanced than that.
Yes, they could make it fire off on you, but then it wouldn't be able to know if you killed the guy or not. Yes, they want to make sure that the guy doesn't die before the demoralize fires. Why?
Because you don't need help soloing when you can one-shot kill dudes. The demoralize effect is for when you're punching above your weight, taking on bosses in group environments. That demoralize effect is an AOE debuff that other people can capitalize on better than you.
(Cute trick? If you do kill an enemy who rezzes afterwards, the first thing they do will be to fire off the fear. Which is even funnier, because then they fear themselves as well.) -
As opposed to the shield showoffs who take a set already quite good for def, resistance, and bonus HP, and then push it a little further to get massive defence.
This video highlights strengths unique to dark armour - the end drain protection and the amazing heal, for example - and shows what you can do with Dark Armour if you choose to build it to these strengths. -
He's fighting inflation, one enormously ridiculous geseture at a time.

Apropos of nothing, if you dig on Cloak of Fear, on a brute, it's mag 3.
