Quote:. I do know we don't talk about it - maybe because of the bad karma involved, maybe because we superstitiously fear talking about it will bring them back. I suggest you PM Forbin or Zekiran for details so they don't have to post them publically.
ASK FORBIN! ASK FORBIN! lol. I think my blood pressure still goes up a notch thinking about that whole debacle O___O -

Yeah I realized that the op was euro - but we DID also just have this discussion about what, 3 weeks ago as well?
Suffice to say that it was a MESSY situation that led to this section going from the upper parts of the forum area, to the nethers. Some folks would take that way too literally lol. -
I had been using blue the entire time I've been on before the switch. But I can't STAND how it looks now, at least unless they've changed it in the last couple weeks? I use red now. It's a bit easier on the eyes, I think.
-
I have to concentrate on not using the Tribal belt option. I just love it. I wish there were accents on the shoulders which matched it.
-
I wonder if anyone's ever survived their first whole encounter with them? They are tough, indeed.
-
And I had this great idea, stop me if you've heard it, "search feature"!
Everything you mention has been brought up a bunch. Check first Not that they're not fun or anything, but... mostly have either been shot down entirely (statues, pvp) or aren't really necessary (more powerful than the rikti, try a task force or two), or just... have been suggested to death (alien planet). -
Don't people already HAVE twitter and such? ... I think this qualifies as "shiny but tmi".

Quote:I've been replaying a LOT of half life recently (from hl1 onwards, I'm on OP4 right now and I have the FISH GUN) (GLEE) so whenever I come back to the City I always want to do three things:I always get this odd HL2 deja vu when walking around the newbie zones on redside. It's even worse when I see physics-enabled objects and ragdolls.
Use my crowbar on a box
Crouch
and Turn on my flashlight.
.... *pulls hair out* -
To whoever just ranked me negative with the quote "I disapprove" .... You disapprove of my not having an issue with this area? Wha? It's not like I'm making anyone else's game worse by *not having this issue* myself... Sorry if I was unaware, as I only have *my own ingame experience to rely upon*...

No, I've only been role playing for going on 25 years tabletop and have written plenty of fanfic of my own characters from this game.
I don't actually see ANY connection between the restrictions and your being bothered at farming, really - costume equipment is hardly ever something that I know is heavily "farmed for". I've helped one friend gather eyeballs for the Rularuu weapons, and that was *fun*.
Costumes are what make most characters unique.
And like I said: I *undersand* your opinion. I don't *share* it. -
I like a story to have you thinking about what you missed, when you get to the end, and realize that it was all there and you just didn't realize it.
Fight Club - perfect example. The first time you "see" this alternate personality emerge you almost miss it. I had to actually rewind the tape (yes, I have it on TAPE) to make sure, no I didn't just imagine that. By the end of the movie, you DO know what's going on, but it's still marvelous that you should have known if only you think.
One or two of the Sin City collections (though it's been years since I've read em and can't recall which one I'm thinking of) the pacing of the detective work is flawless. Literally the page you realize what's happening is the one you're turning to see what you imagined right there on the next page.
But being dragged behind a tale, that's no fun. I've seen this happen more in pen and paper games where the GM either doesn't know what they're doing, or has some particular story to tell and whether you want to be there or not, you're going to witness it. I don't like those at all. Individually the sessions are fun - and if you're talking about COH/V missions, they can be too - but the end result is that I don't feel like I made *any* difference to that story. -
We still get those same powers temporarily by earning them in the game though.
I think it's fair to use the examples of "Valentines day" and such, as why costumery and such should still be per-character. The character earned the temp power of the nemi staff. *I* earned the vet reward. I know, it's weak. But I'm still just a fan of having things that in-character, you'd earn apart from all your others. I mean - I will never USE the roman stuff on most of my toons - if I have a good idea, I'll get that character up in levels and get the reward for them. That my others have it already doesn't really matter to me - but I do see the point. I just like earning them separately. -
Quote:Was it an informal one, or one from the game's system? Big differenceYeah. Truthfully I talked with my bro earlier today and he said everyone else is really just waiting for Issue 16 to come out, so we'll probably all just chill out and start from scratch then.
When I first started playing CoX we had that level pact and it was really fun, closest I've gotten to 50 (45), so hopefully with I16 we'll be able to do that again. -
Quote:Perhaps you and your friends should start a level pact group of characters all at the same time. If they're your friends, and they want you to play with em... maybe you should try it. It's been in the game not very long, and is probably subject to changes, but still. read up on it.I don't think it's possible for me to play harder since I play as hard as I possibly can no matter what team I'm on.
I don't know I just feel like a younger brother who always wants to tag along with his older brother and his friends but everyone just wants him to go away when I'm Sk'd on a high level team even if that's not the case...lol. It doesn't really matter to me what the "point" of Sk'ing is, because that's just how I feel about it. -
And yet, in the game world, you can't possibly come up with a REASON why your first character got that doodad, and then subsequent ones also have it. Anything that goes on a character like that should be earned individually. We get better perks like vet powers account wide.
I do agree about the gladiators however, that doesn't seem to make much sense since "you" aren't really playing - it's a pokemon tournament lol. -
If they added a tremendous amount of transparent "siding" to them... perhaps it wouldn't look SO bad, do you know what I mean?
If you look at some of the capes particularly you see it, and also the edge of the trenchcoats. The "gaps" in some areas are just transparent layering, the piece itself still is the same 'shape' as everything else of that sort. But... still, not good enough I think.
I'll live, though it'd be very nice to have front/back loincloth type things. buttcapes only on both the front and back, but I don't think they can do those because of the limited number of costume nodes available. -
Without the skeleton, none of the animations are even possible. So, yeah. Not too likely even if that IS how they did it in another unrelated game engine.
-
QFT.
When, 5 years into a live game, people continually request something and it's been said by the devs to be "that problematic" ... it's not going to suddenly change. They may some day develop an entirely new character generation system which might include some form of "dress/robe" outfits, but right now, yes, it is that difficult and yes, it does look that bad. -

Quote:I think you ARE missing the point behind sidekicking. The point isn't that you are equal to your mentor, it's that they are helping you be better. That's both meta and in-game terms.Well that wasn't a very nice thing to say
It's more of a personal thing really. I don't like being SK'd too high because I don't really feel like I'm pulling my weight if I'm, say, a lvl 12 on a lvl 35 team because I don't have access to the same powers/enhancements everyone else on the team has.
Yeah, the mobs will con about the same but I still don't feel very useful and therefore don't really have much fun...
Someone not pulling their weight is, say, an emp who just spams heal and does no attacking - or worse, just stands around not doing *anything*.
You click a power, and you are doing something more than that. You're not slacking if you're using what you've already got. -
My favorite 50 is my ice/kin who I soloed until she was in her mid-40s. Then I started teaming. I don't know - I have her slotted for slows and holds, and that made all the difference. She is filled with awesome. She can Hold the Flyer in the STF.
