Time Slider; would that be like the stacking bars for powers like Siphons, Rage, Follow Up (I don't think the SoA version has the bar anymore ) or a bar like Fury? Or was this going to be something completely new?

Lore support pet buffs (assuming Mids has ever had pet-based player buffs in it (like Bot Bubbles); I honestly can't remember).

Any of the Interface 'chance of' procs (Effects tab).

This is disheartening to see that they [would] pigeon-hole[] an entire expansion. First Cimerora; now Praetoria. Why create another world map and design such a narrow and limited scope to go with it... then add insult to injury by leading the players on with faction choices when, apparently, they amount to nothing.

I, for one, would like to see the 21-50 Praetorian lore that allows for further exploration of the Resistance/Loyalist (Independent) theme; pertaining to both the self-contained affairs as well as the relationship between Praetorian and Primal Earth.

    PEATs.

I would like to see player Praetorians have access to Incarnate Abilities with a set of Trials that center around major assaults against Primal Earth (like the destruction of Skyway City); even if those assaults aren't enough to turn the tide of battle. Or even chronicling the internal struggle between civilization and the DE/Hamidon.

Even if Praetorians aren't given access to Incarnate Abilities right away; I wouldn't mind seeing it happen as a precursor to 'The Coming Storm'.

What I don't want to see happen is Praetoria wasting away to nothing/minimalist use after this particular storyline is done. That would be an astronomical waste of resources and a huge mislead, IMO.
  6. So, when do we get to play the Praetorian role in the Pra/Pri Earth War?

We've already played 20 levels in which we could side with the Loyalists but beyond that it's all been anti-Loyalist content.

I would be disappointed if Praetoria didn't get the full immersion treatment that comes as being part of a major expansion.

Tying zone events to mission complete objectives can cause multiple possible problems. A good case in point is found in the Malta storyline. Players have used the Khronos titan spawn to grief low level zones, leading to the in-game modification where the Titan can only be spawned in specific zones. Another good case in point is Synapse task force. Create player groups can spawn Babbage in zones other than Skyway.

Nor is such abusive behavior a thing of the past. In recent times players have used the event spawns from the Lady Grey Task Force and the Halloween Salvage to grief zones during Numina Weekly Strike Target periods which requires street hunts through multiple zones.

Creating more zone events, or more triggers for more zone events, that are bound to commonly attainable missions, would also require more work to limit those zone events as to not impede existing content.
The fact remains that there are player triggerable events (whether it's the big Holiday Events or smaller ones tied to their specific zones (ie. PvP missions).

Griefing is kind of an irrelevant issue being that it can be done independent of any events. Foresight becomes the keyword... If code needs to be done to keep things zone specific and/or level appropriate; I personally don't see a problem with it. Likewise if code needs to be put in so that streetsweeping portions of a given TF doesn't allow for its participants to grief people trying to enjoy their non-TF activities; so be it.

And as it stands; the stated mission would be zone specific; to Peregrine Island.
  9. Does activating the device actually start a Rikti zone event? (If not, it should -and there should be more missions with that kind of impact).
  10. If I were to put the Decimation proc into Lightning Storm, who gets the benefit; the 'pet' or the player?

It doesn't take hours to organize, it is not long enough that you have to set aside any time (outside your normal playtime) to do, and if you don't want to do it, you don't have to.

    Sounds pretty casual to me.

The only part of the system that ISN'T casual friendly is trying to get all your Incarnate slots up to tier 4 on every character. And it isn't expected that everyone is going to do that anymore than it is expected that every player is going to outfit every single one of their characters with every purple IO set they can slot. Unless you are one of those people that believes the point of the IO system IS to purple out every single character, in which case you'd probably say that isn't casual friendly either.
    Exactly.

At this point, I'm getting irritated with people expecting to T4 their stable of 50s in less than a month. Not just wanting to but having that as an actual expectation.

They are willingly ignoring the basic premise that this isn't supposed to be a system that can be completed as quickly as it comes out.

It is, currently, (to a fault) a fairly quick and easy system, yet people are trying to make it even moreso (people are getting their T3s faster than they got their first Purple IO set or their first PvP IO set).

[That being said, I wish they would've released more content for 50 level Incarnates than just 2 missions]

I only bring up this because when I join forces in trials I am and have been the only controller for the last 9 trials.

As a Controller player I ask you...whats wrong with us? I like us? But why am I usually the one and only?
I think I've been more fortunate and have been on teams that typically had 2 or more Controllers (besides myself).

But, speaking as a solo player (primarily), it is a pain in the butt to level up a 'troller without that team support or a secondary like /Storm; IMO. Hence why you're not seeing as many floating around the trials. I have an Elec/Rad that I would like to level up to 50... but geez; seriously?
  15. To date, my Plant/Storm Controller is the toon with T3s in almost all slots

My current project is a SoA Crab (tank death incarnate)...

all I'm really after for my Thug/Dark MM is a Lore pet (but my pets are a hindrance for phase 2 of Lambda)

I don't know if I want to Ascend my WP Brute (more of a concept thing that I'll have to figure out later)

and I'm almost at a no-go for my Ice/Ice Dom; the one that actually should be an Incarnate (again, a concept thing that I'll have to figure out later)

and the 2 I really want to level up is a Widow (Stalker) and another MM

Brutes, Tanks and Scrappers really don't do it for me... I guess I have a preference for 'green deck' and/or 'blue deck' character types
  16. Although Mid's allows for selecting APPs for VEATS, all Wiki information says that this is a no go. From experience, I know that I can't select APPs as a villainous VEAT; does this change when I change alignments?

If so, do I have to go all the way to the Blue Side; or can I get access as a Rogue?
  17. Lamda is basically just a Mayhem Mission with a similar set of pitfalls and opportunity for 'griefing'.
  18. I know that upon getting the Sync badge, the League also gets an Astral reward and a rare drop. Is this the only instance where syncing 'nade/acid container destruction nets you the Astral reward and drop or can a league do this for every container pair they come across (for a total of 10 possible Astral/rare drop rewards)?

Also, does this reward apply to the courtyard containers as well?

It's when you get into large teams and multi-team encounters that this breaks down, and I don't really think there's anyway to avoid that.

That's why I'm not suggesting we avoid it, so much as supplement it. I'm often seen as arguing for soloable story arcs because I'm an anti-social ****. While that may be true, this isn't why I argue for them. I simply recognise that multi-group content isn't the place to look for personal glory. However, I don't want to argue for removing it, as that would be stupid. So instead, I ask for an alternative that's perhaps somewhat less "epic" (for the "large-scale event" definition of the word), but a lot more personal than open warfare. It shouldn't take away from the zeal of fighting in a giant conflict. It should instead supplement the experience with a more personal focus that we can more easily pretend is our own little spotlight.

I think I spoke about it upthread, but even just one Incarnate story arc per Incarnate Trial would be enough to keep me off the forums, and enough to keep my suspension of disbelief strong and lasting.
I think newer players will feel more of what you're looking for (or newer toons) because solo content that deals with both the Praetorian Invasion and Incarnates (which are kind of one and the same... at this point) is available; mostly at lower levels through Vincent Ross, Ramiel, Mortimer Kai (and to some extent, the Morality Missions and even the RWZ (up until you get all of the Alpha T4s that you want - VMerit build up)).

I think the perspective needs to zoom out a bit to see beyond 'Incarnate content only at 50' scope.

Now, for those players/toons that are taking Cole's side in this... I feel bad for their content (Incarnate or otherwise) at all level ranges beyond level 21. They are the official step-children and casualties of this content.

It's probably selfish of me to say this, but I play this game for the characters I make, and I want to see them shine in their own right. On a smaller team, this can happen because I may be the only one providing a certain function. Like that TF I ran a while back where I was both the only "tank" and the only "source of damage" on the team, playing a pretty chunky Brute at the time, on a team that was mostly Controllers, Defenders and AFK/lost. I'm not sure I wasn't feeling all self-important at someone else's expense, however.

My point here is that it comes down to Spoony's take on RPG protagonists - "Because I'm the hero! This is my story!" - as he goes through other people's stuff looking for potions. And you can't really get that from grunt warfare, at least not with other people who deserve as much face time as you. Call of Duty games, at least the WW2 ones, always managed to take a faceless war scenario and make YOU the protagonist de-facto in them anyway, but those were single player.

Generally speaking, people on smaller teams have a much easier time feeling like, if not THE star, then at least A star, because their role isn't redundant. IF you're the damage dealer, you are THE damage dealer, not damage dealer #17. Big crossover events never worked for me.

And, to me, is the hallmark of a bad story. And I say "bad" because it's the kind of storytelling that might work in a "hero with no name" RPG like Diablo or Dungeon Siege, where you're either a wanderer or just one more peasant with a sword. In these games, yeah, you can slap a hundred people together because characters are basically interchangeable moulds over which to hang your gear. Not so in City of Heroes. Well, at least it wasn't always so. This is one of the few games where NPCs actually address us by name, have you noticed? This is one of the few games where we're asked to create a backstory and a pretty final look right out the gate. Here, we're expected to have a backstory, and who we are matters.

So it's more than a little disheartening to be tossed into the grinder like we are, reduced from a person with a personality and a backstory, into one more warm body in the trenches. There's a reason I stay away from war stories.
This is also an MMO and the unfortunate thing about MMOs is that at some point, you will become rank and file because it is impossible for the game to address every player on a personal basis in every fashion at all times.

Solo content; sure... that's the most logical place for one to get their face time.

Team content; sometimes... but you have up to 8 people that all want to be the star; which one is the game supposed to cater to... which role gets to have the spotlight.

Large team content; this is 'put-your-egos-aside-and-lets-save-the-world' stuff; it makes sense that trying to be MJ might get one face-planted more than a person would like. It also makes sense, like in a real war, that you would have to do something extraordinary; above and beyond, to get any kind of recognition and that that recognition should (more often than not) come from the one mechanic than can adjust to erratic bursts of 'Im the man! -isms'; other players.

I've, primarily, been using my Plant/Storm controller in the trials - a toon that's not likely to get kill kudos around a bunch of tanks and brutes; or heal kudos or much of anything but the trials do break down enough where the opportunity to garner notice from your teammates becomes more probable.

The stop the prisoner portion of the BAF, as well as 'taunting' the AVs to the ambush spot and stopping the adds.

As well as the hunt phase of Lambda, Lambda, Lambda.

(Even breaking up your league into smaller group to cover more ground can create those opportunities)

*I got my shining moment helping to stop the Mindwashed; a teammate liked how I played my Plant and said he would have to reconsider how he felt about them in general.*

I can agree with this. Once you're in the queue; the game essentially becomes of little worth until the Trial actually starts.
