Anyone wanna take Bets on when Positron's gonna make a blurb or statement about this? I'm betting we won't see him at all even though he was obviously the one who made the call. Gawd I love it when that Power-Gamer shirks responsibility ...He finally caves to the Casual Gamers' overwhelming demands for fixing the 30-40 grind and wins some huge brownie points with this community, and then flips around and pulls this Epic-Fail "Fix" in the same patch. HUGE Lolz, son.
BtW, if anyone wants to know his thoughts on the matter, just go read the Market Forum. Those 1337 100t "flippers" are all cut from the same stone he was. The more these recipes cost, the bigger their E-dilz get, and the happier they are. That's Positron's "Fan Base" and the only justification he needs for being a total Miser. -

Ok, now to reply to Lady, altho Tremere has NO clue what he's talking about. Sigh.
Ok. I think to let people choose the EXACT recipe they want would probably not be to good of a thing (the market would all of a sudden be flooded with LotG's, Numina's, and Miracles) I have a slightly different way to rearrange it.
REMOVE the Single-Origin rewards. They're pointless. Replace them with recipe categories. Melee, Ranged, PBAoE, Dam Res, Def, etc..... So even if you get a recipe that doesn't sell for to much, it's still from a set you can use, hopefully.
And also it keeps things partially random so one recipes value on the market doesn't fluctuate to much, hopefully.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this suggestion. Coupling this with moving several of the generally unwanted recipes from Pool C [u]and putting them into Pool B would be an improvement[u] over the current system and would not cause any big issues that I can see.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also /Q'ing.F.T.
...Though I worry making those selections drop ONLY Pool-C's would be too "gameable", so they'd also need the Pool-A rares mixed in to ensure those drop pools are still large enough to keep the Odds interesting -

ORRRR......
The statement from the EU head honcho was spawning wild rumors on the EU boards that was starting to infect the US boards and so the US head honcho is basically saying, "We got plans but we're not confirming anything, so, anything you hear is a rumor."

I just ROFL'd
...taking on rumors about Very specific things, with a fluff statement that avoids ALL specific is like tryin to put a fire out with Confetti -

Sounds like a "I wasn't invited into the I9 Beta, so it obviously sucked" whine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Deserved to be? Or actually Was? You're probably right about the first one...
I'll admit I'm not the most diligent of Beta testers, but we can't all be Arcanavilles and MadScientists. The process itself is great though and I look forward to more assuming I'm invited back. Criticizing it doesn't mean I'm against it, as I said, it just needs some real improvements if the actual content being filtered through it is going to be generously increased. (Pohsyb's stat monitor will be a huge leap forward for the testing but only if there's enough Dev involvement this time to deal with all the feedback) -
[ QUOTE ]
just so we know who we are dealing with, are you counting last year's releases as failures? given that they were hugely popular with the community and rolled out without major bugs, due to the closed beta testing, im just seeing what your definition of failures is, and wether there really is any rational space to debate the point in.
[/ QUOTE ]
Alright, but remember, you asked for it....
Issue-9 ....had very limited actual Beta Involvement across the player base and even less actual testing on drop rates or any way to verify them(Pool-C's being the hardest to verify). Issue-11 was a cluster-bomb of channel-drama that saw the release of several bugged and untested IO sets since there was no direct market access to them--especially Pool-C's ...these 2 issues of oversight conspired together to make TFs/SF's the targets of "pool-C farmers" which just saw a huge stealth Nerf [u]despite the Devs' own promises that none of the existing content would be made more difficult to compensate for the implementation of I.O's.[u]
The entire issue could have been fixed issues ago by focusing feedback and testing on TF rewards for casual players so that everyone was getting rewards at a rate that satisfied demand and discouraged farming. ...when that failed to happen, Farming took over and solved the problem it's own way. Meanwhile the devs HAD the resources(All of Us!) to fix the CAUSE of the problem instead of just treating an ugly symptom of it. Instead what we got now is some very un-informed corporate doublespeak labeling RMT'ers as the scapegoats and a solution that will only further reward the farmers they claim they're trying to stifle.
When I say 4 years of failure, this is exactly what I mean... Simple feedback and pro-active effort on the part of the Guys at the top of the design decisions easily fixing the problems early on, but instead what we get are Half-Truths and stealth-nerfs designed to bypass player Scrutiny entirely. ...followed by bad explanations and excuses later on. It's tiring. I understand it's how American business sometimes works, but I don't want to feel like the mid-level Devs I WANT to support so much, have to work in Dilbert's Office for a buncha "pointy-haired Bosses". -

However, our highest priority is to ensure that the quality of all new content being brought to the game meets and exceeds your expectations.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was just there for filler then
I think you're just going to have to wait and see before you doomy doomy doom. Or we can just presume the devs are lazy
[/ QUOTE ]
That's my point though... It sets off a red flag or two when they talk about it being their first Priority but give no details on how they'll actually do it or what they will do differently to ensure we don't have 4 more years of the same old failures.
What we got instead was barely even a Blurb.
I've seen more detailed and "Articulate" press releases from SnakeOil Salesmen. -
Puff Piece since it has no mention about actual Quality control, Beta/Testing, or fixing any of the past problems where _informed_ player-feedback went largely un-addressed b/c they didn't have the resources to address it as it flowed in. It almost reads like "We're gonna bring you the highest quality content that WE think money can buy"

I vote this stealth-nerf that favors RMT farmers to be:
[Censored] of the year!

HAHA, /SIGNED
...right when $$ on the best recipes was set to inflate by LEAPS and BOUNDS, they go and do this on top of it without removing those crappy Mez/Snipe recipes from Pool-C first. I give it 2 weeks before the INF-farmers find ways to farm the hell out of this and the better recipes all start costing over 100 million each.
Such epic LoLz.
It's like Positron is intentionally GIVING me the noose to hang him with on this issue...I love it -

7) an apology for not being as awesome and cool as I am. I know it's technically not your fault, so I'll also require an apology from your parents too.

I am so very sorry for not attaining the awesomeness that you have attained. I also apologize for my lack of coolness, as I know it doesn't approach yours.
My parents are not very computer savvy, so they are snail mailing their apologies to you. Expect it in 3 to 5 days.

Did the Devs not say something about increasing the load capacity of the servers to compensate for this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. We upgraded our server hardware as part of our re-investment plan for City of Heroes/Villains, but the fact of the matter is that we've actually hit a new capacity threshhold.
To be clear....There are more players on Freedom now than have ever played on that server. Ever.
[/ QUOTE ]
...and Half of them are in Peregrine right now STEALIN R XP!!
(Fact: PL'ing on Freedom doubled and then tripled after server Transfers)
Seriously, for those of us who've made Freedom our home for the last 2 years but get locked out b/c of so many newbs... this actually is unfair. And yes I do believe there was precedent for entitlement b/c this very issue came up time and time again during the discussions about Server Transfers.
I don't wanna say I told ya so, but..... I TOTALLY called this like 8 months ago

Can't you see what's happening?! He's LOOKING AT DEFENDERS AGAIN.
We did something somewhere we weren't supposed to do!

One day there should be a devs vs. subscribers PvP war. One Dev with each AT from both sides, and one subscriber (picked like from a raffle?) [u]playing their FotM's[u]

If enhancements were deactivated wouldn't that help balance powers out? Because then no matter what your enhancements are, a Dominator with Fire Control would have the same effectiveness as a Controller with Fire Control. And only inspriations would make a difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even worse...
then the only people actually hitting anyone would be those teams of Emp'd Blasters popping PB-Aim/BU -
still looks fine Putz...
Before taking the weekend off, Ex made it a point of asking "what 3 things..." As in there's too damn many of us asking for too many things so can we narrow it down even more? Hell, I'll do one better and narrow it down to just 2 things:
-Castle's too busy for us...add an extra Dev just to do the PvP balancing he Can't do.
-Tell Positron we all KNOW he's wrong about rewards. Don't just say we "think" he's wrong. You can't attract more players to ANY activity in this game in larger numbers without some kind of worthwhile rewards! -
New President? wut? ... so I take it the blood-letting ensuing from WoW stealing all of the Lineage players (LoL, Koreans) went all the way to the top!? ....Good, Maybe the Industry as a whole will finally start getting away from the tired old E.Q. formula now that Blizzard has totally monopolized it.
But since when has Any president of any Publisher ever bothered to go into details about "a comic book Game?". And Question #2: Does this guy PvP?
EDIT: Oh! He's from Arena.Net...
...that means not only does he PvP, but he's H4rdc00rz and could kick all our [censored] too.
Good! Someone get on the phone to him and tell him this game could use some PvP specialists -
How many holds can a Grav/Emp or Emp/Electric stack?
Also: Maybe it's time to consider new ways of doing Cinder's 'Diminishing' Returns idea this first attempt caused a "rage crash" of sorts. Castle said last year he doesn't have it figured out yet, but we know they've already got a System. If they DIDN'T then there'd be no E.D. scaling. -
[ QUOTE ]
Dom + Emp was already better than blaster + emp imo when played right.

Which on freedumb... is all of 5 ppl, right?
(that was just a guess, I've actually only witnessed like 2 so far so that estimate might be high) -
Gratz to whoever recommended tweaking CM/Clar/Thaw. Let's hope the change sticks for the short term.
I guess they don't like my idea of lowering the Status Protection cap on Spiking AT's.
But hey, it's still great news for Balanced Emp-blaster Teams (IE: Emp+Sonic Super-Teams) -
/jranger... and I'd like to request that only */Traps guides Predating Issue-9 be allowed.
Kins, Rads, and Thermals are the only thing Teams want b/c everything else /Phails the LRSF & P\/P.
And If it doesn't /Phail, then you could make an even better one by rolling it as a defender instead!
Everyone clear? Ignore any new guides that aren't based on old FotM's!
IGNORE THEM!! -

Smoothing the XP Curve
One thing that we constantly examine is the rate of advancement in the game. In a future version, we intend to smooth out the leveling curve by changing how much experience is given out for defeating opponents. The intent is to smooth out the bumps where players typically get stuck leveling up their characters. Keep an eye on coming patch notes for specifics.
Real Numbers
As a general quality of life improvement we will be adding new functionality in a coming version of the game to display the real numbers behind your characters and their powers. This includes a user configurable display of important characteristics such as movement rate, regeneration rate, resistances and many more! Additionally, you will be able to see how those statistics are affected in real time by buffs and/or debuffs affecting your character.

I think I just $#%& a brick....
*checks* ...Yep I did...
Now I have make amends with Positron damnit... Seems he saw the Light and is FINALLY getting away from Jack Emmert's oppressive ideas of "FUN" when it came to Character progression and build Customization. ...If Positron does the same thing to smooth out Salvage and Pool-C drops.... I promise I'll [u]never say another bad thing about him[u] for the rest of my villainous days. (Exluding "AGH!, put the Helmet back on!" of course ) -
