With CoH canon dealing with crazed deities and even crazier drinking water it's nice to have something superhero themed in a superhero MMO. Perhaps with that in mind, this arc was created
For the People

Story and structure
Essentially, a lot of the arc's strength/weakness is a simultaneous mirror of what it is: an unapologetic homage to old school team up stories. It could be argued that parts of it might be a little hokey while at the same time that adds to the charm. Could potentially be polarizing to some but it's simply a stylistic choice. I'm only partially okay with directly referencing AE within the arc. You try to work it into the story somewhat but not sure if it's truly needed.
The arc has an inconsistent level range for its missions which may be annoying if the team leader is on the lower end of the level range.
The arc doesn't rely on customs so no need to worry about custom mob strength level. However, there is the concern of packing multiple AVs in the same area. In theory, your allies will help mitigate this but this can't be guaranteed due to various reasons such as spawn point locations. I actually used a Stalker for this to eye boss placement and sometimes kill a few on my own before unleashing the "aggro assistance". The last room in the final map particularly had a fair bit of craziness.
Speaking of mission 5, you might want to swap either Positron or Statesman's Front spawn point with Sister Psyche's Middle. Due to the Designated Helper system, you won't get her buffs if you rescue other allies first which will affect the difficulty of the fights you encounter. Especially when you take account of the fact that NPCs tend to be pretty good at keeping both the player and other allies buffed.
The arc could stand to have more descriptive titles for some of the objectives. A few were simply the enemy name as opposed to "Defeat <enemy name>". Most were fine though. Also, some of your clue colors were hard to read, mainly the dark ones. You might want to experiment with them a bit. I know SupaFreak did a forum thread showing a sizable range of color options in the Mission Architect section.
Spelling and grammar
Mission 3
[NPC] Back Alley Brawler: Hey, $name! Where did you go?
[NPC] Synapse: $name, don't move so fast! You left me behind!
Maybe it's just me but it seems like Synapse and BAB should switch quotes for when you get separated.
Mission 4 Outro
That's why we need to act quickly. Your team's mission is reconnaissance. Find out: what is the End Game weapon? And, if possible, destroy it.
Seems a little clunky and as currently worded, "what" should be capitalized. Would probably be better as...

Mission 5
Holo Man's display name was Halo Man. Not sure if you made an accidental typo or if this was a subject of the obnoxious profanity/copyright filter like your workaround with Black Scorpion. -
With my subscription being current again, Mission Architect Handyman is back open for business if you'd like the feedback.

A little time a way may help freshen your perspective and recharge your batteries. On Your M-Arc, your trailers, and the various Storyteam meetings have added to the community.

Use the unused. Going by various CoV maps, there are several islands in the Rogue Isles that could be added simply by populating them. If they truly are "untouched", they would be perfect for territorial control situations.

Quote:Looking at this, I feel a lot of the problem is that while the devs generally do a decent job listening to feedback, you tend to put yourselves in situations where you simply don't have the time and resources to respond. Like most complaints the past few months concerning costume sets. The amount of grief and walls of text would be spared if things were structured differently. Then there's things like Mission Architect that tend to not get much dev discussion. The useful thing about being able to talk with you guys is knowing how to channel our energy. If we know ABC isn't possible but DEF is, we can better plan out DEF rather than throwing ABCDEF all into the mix.Hello again Z, good to see things from your side of the coin. I would just like to point out that, for my part, I agree with you. Mostly. Where I disagree is this:
It seems there has been a very noticeable trend towards release-on-time-at-all-costs that has us dealing with more bugs sailing through Beta unharmed than ever before. Also, it's been seeming like there is either not enough work being done to fix these bugs and other bugs from Pre-CoHF, or possibly even less de-bugging work is being done than pre-CoHF.
Either way we're stuck dealing with these problems and it seems that not only are more bugs coming out, but now, they're even being treated as 'working-as-intended'. To misquote Uncle Ben: "With greater amounts of released material, comes greater responsibility to make sure it WORKS."
When it comes to feedback, hell YEAH you guys are pretty good! What concerns me is this seeming decline in responsibility to keeping the game as error-free as it has the potential to be. No game is ever bug free, but this one's bugier than it used to be, and that's worrisome. -
Dhahabu Kingdom and the Indelible Curse of Hate has gotten a visual upgrade on a number of its enemies. Try it out today!

Nominating 15+ Min TUTORIAL - Knowledge Is Power: Architect Entertainment #28470 and ADVANCED TUTORIAL - Knowledge Is Power: Tips, Tricks & Secrets #403441. Originally I wasn't going to since the first of the two is a Hall of Fame but both are more than deserving of being Developer's Choice and the second probably won't get any attention without a DC.

Well, I have two problems and the bigger one isn't (directly) the stealth fix but here goes.
Know how the Circle of Thorns got updated for Freedom? Well, the Reflections enemy group in the Shadow Shard didn't get updated at that time. I felt it was a massive win since I was using recolored versions of one of those enemies and I figured that anything involving the Shadow Shard was far enough off the radar not to get "fixed". When working on some updates for Dhahabu Kingdom and the Indelible Curse of Hate, I discovered that the CoT within the Reflection group were updated with the new snakeskin look which isn't what I was wanting.
The bigger problem is that when running through Test Mode, I discovered that an entire enemy group lost the renamed standard enemies which will take a while to find and add back. I don't think this is directly related to the Reflections stealth fix though it's gonna take work to do. Also, I don't know if the published version of the arc has been broken or not. Doesn't help that the I22 changes to the Banished Pantheon sorta has me in full panic mode but I'm looking into that and trying to be mellow. -
You know, I really hate stealth fixes. *sigh* I've got work to do.

Arguably the boots look lower resolution than a lot of stuff we've gotten recently, even within the same pack.

Well...I guess Diabolique and Numina have greater visual difference now. While the "undressed sorceress" look sorta works, I think it would have been interesting to give her either a flowing robes sort of look or possibly had her pay homage to Samara/Sadako. It is interesting that with the height increase she seemed to also get a higher proportional body mass. Guess she's a first pick if the Powers Division decides to start a football league.

Quote:I think the structure is bad as opposed to the concept. Besides it's nice to actually use the zones sometimes rather than just instances. A nice update would be stating "anywhere in the zone" but actually increasing the amount of spawns of an enemy type if the hunt is active.Street sweeping missions are so incredibly bad.
And it's not so much that they're easy or hard, as it is that it's incredibly frustrating to talk to someone who says "oh yeah, you'll find the lost in kings row" only to find out that there are very few specific spots in an area on the zone where they show up, and they share spawn locations with other groups so you might fly right by ALL of their spawns and never see one... And ask yourself "WHAT in the WORLD is this guy THINKING? There are no lost here!" -
Hmm...I think the full extent of the set will be easier to view if split into parts on ParagonWiki rather than viewing it as a full set.

That's a redside AE specific NPC chatter that's been around for a few years now.

Quote:It seems like you leaned a little too hard on the "letter of the law" so to speak than the spirit of the suggestion. While it could be argued that some mission writers script things too much, the concept of being able to use a tool for story telling. I guess I can see some of the hate since the devs have no middle ground. Either a zone gets blown up and filled with aliens/demons or it's totally untouched. In fact, the main part of the suggestion is that they need to make small adjustments here and there. Especially multiple missions that are back to back that do the same thing.I completely disagree. Vehemently, in fact. I don't mean about holding a competition, that's a good idea. I mean the notion that "speak with person" is the making of a good mission. On the contrary, I find this to be one of the most annoying things to stick into a mission, especially for no reason. It's right there with protection objectives and escorts for no reason. Just because you CAN have me converse with a computer through three text screens of made-up ridiculous text interface doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Efficiency Expert. I'm pretty sure most are incarnated out and can blow through it without thought but the time when I got it felt like a major accomplishment. I also like the various badges for being the team leader.

Quote:Funny thing is that not reading them (yet) is likely the reason why I've pretty much never had a problem with him. I just see him as our Superman-guy. It could be argued that all of the Freedom Phalanx could stand to be given more attention in-game to flesh them out. That might be difficult with people's hatred of Jack Emmerett and feeling offended if attention is shifted off them for half a second but adding more depth to the NPCs makes it a more engaging game world. For instance, to my understanding Luminary actively enjoys music but in game she just seems like that boring robot in Talos.I would have given him a much more prominent presence IN THE GAME. People shouldn't have to read comics off archive PDFs that few even know where to find or a book that I'm not sure is even in print any more to understand what a character is about.
Mortimer Kal SF. Plus, a number of redside cutscenes seem more likely to overtly mention the player by name or be treated as you interrupting the NPCs. -
Arguably you could exempt or run AE. Of course, people complain about being lower level for the former and the latter is is openly shunned irregardless of mission choice.
-
Quote:My problem with Elliot is that he seems to fluctuate a fair bit between decent informational pieces (though they seem more aimed towards outsiders than CoH fans) and fluff opinion pieces like this article. More problematic is when he researches things for the former but it comes off as Did Not Do The Research due to the way presented or limited experience with the topic like the AT breakdowns he did a while back.I'm tiring of some one guy writing reviews on glorified fan sites like they're experts, and people taking them seriously.
It's just some guy.
We can all make a wishlist and post in a blog.
It's one thing to play the role of a journalist and report what's going on. Sure, some one guy can do that fairly well and fairly objectively (though never completely). I'll pay attention to that.
But it's another thing when there is a review, or a wishlist and it's all one guy's opinion. Get an editorial board made up of people who have been successful in the industry or who've done real research into what makes MMOs successful, *then* I'll pay attention.
Until then, anyone posting a suggestion in the suggestions forum has an equally valid point of view.
