Or, have a second account.
I keep one mainly for a random friend to use during a CoH LAN party (it's a good recruitment tool). You can also use it for trades among your alt characters or starting your own SuperGroup without having to enlist the help of others. You only have to activate it when you need it. -

The cape options for the High Collar is missing several options for females. Basic, Occult, and Arcane are available, but Male and Huge also have Long Cape, COV DVD Edition Cape, DVD Edition Cape, and Valkyrie options. Please add these options for females.
[/ QUOTE ]
I created a separate thread here for a more thorough look at this problem. There's obvious bugs in what's broke or missing, but there also needs to be a policy decision made with the higher ups about what should or shouldn't be available from level 1 before capes are 'unlocked.' When one pays real money for a cape unlock, does that always bypass the level 20 rule? -
We all know you need to be level 20 to unlock capes, *except* if you have the Veteran Reward of Single Shoulder capes, or, you bought the Mac Edition or the Magic Booster which gives you the Valkyrie and High Collar Capes.
However, what is and is not available to a level 1 character with all the cape extras is wildly inconsistent. The following examples are from an account with the Veteran Single Shoulder cape and every other Paid-For Cape from collector's editions, regular editions, and boosters.
Let's start with the Veteran Single Shoulder Cape. You get this option from level 1:
Single Shoulder > Long | Short > standard patterns
However, it is missing these 'patterns': Valkyrie, Occult, Arcane, DVD Edition Cape (Four Winds), COV DVD Edition Cape (Arachnos).
Now, you might say that they're separate goodies and one shouldn't expect these patterns to be available on all other cape styles, and to that I respond: oh, but it has. All those patterns show up on the High Collar cape from the Magic Booster. The Valkyrie pattern used to be available on the Single Shoulder cape but is now missing. If I earned and purchased all these styles and patterns and they do get crossed over in some cases, then they should be crossed over in all cases. There's no rhyme or reason for saying that some can be mixed and matched but not others. Let's be consistent.
Double Shoulder Options
From level 1, all the other Double Shoulder mantle options (Full, Half, Asymmetrical, Over Shoulder Mantles) have the Valkyrie Pattern. So... why can't they also have the Occult, Arcane, DVD Edition Cape (Four Winds), and the COV DVD Edition Cape (Arachnos) patterns? Let's set a consistent policy that all Paid-For capes are available at level 1 in all styles rather than just one (High Collar).
High Collar Options
From level 1, the High Collar has these options for Male and Huge Models:
Basic > no detail2
Occult > no detail2
Arcane > no detail2
Long Cape > all standard patterns
COV DVD Edition Cape (Arachnos) > no detail2
DVD Edition Cape (Four Winds) > no detail2
Valkyrie > no detail2
Notice how having the Magic Booster High Collar Capes allows you at level 1 to basically have any cape in the game. You want a cape with the fire logo or the Arctic cape? Just chose High Collar and Long and you can have it from level 1. The only thing missing here is a High Collar Short Cape option with all the standard patterns.
Now, notice I said these were the options for Male and Huge Models. For the Female Model at level 1 only this was available under High Collar:
Basic > no detail2
Arcane > no detail2
Valkyrie > no detail2
Not only were the Long and DVD capes missing, but so was the Occult Cape which is very much a part of the Booster Pack. The Occult Collar was also missing for the Female Model.
Now, once capes are unlocked at level 20, new bugs appear:
The Female Model has High Collar > Short Cape as an option, but the capes are not short, they're still long. (Also, Occult is still missing.)
And that's it. There are some obvious bugs here, but also an inconsistent policy, namely, a decision needs to be made as to what will or will not be available to a character that has not 'unlocked' capes at level 20. If exceptions are made, then those exceptions should be evenly applied to every Model. And if some exclusive patterns are 'proliferated' to some exclusive styles, they should be proliferated to *all* styles for maximum choice and customization. -
Well, all they announced were two new sets: Vines and Ulterior. I imagine they'll be like I13's Arctic, Perplex, and Vandal.
Also, a handful of new costume change emotes.
Also the boosters tend to be just one set (albeit with several mix and match options and with psuedo-3D detailing).
I like new costumes, too, but they'd have to be adding a lot more at once to get me to drool.
-
Masterminds and Corrupters won't be able to take Empathy even if they turn 'good.' If they want a 'heal secondary' they still need to take Pain Domination.

The Arachnos cape unlocks at 20 after doing the regular cape mission, as does the Cape of Four Winds (COH CE.)
The others, as they're specifically part of costume packs, are available right away.

Actually...
If you get the Magic Booster, you'll get the High Collar cape unlocked at level one. For Male and Huge models, you can put the Collector's Edition Capes onto the High Collar cape from level 1. However, that's not the case for the Female Model.
I'm about to make a thread of it in the Tech forum reporting it as a bug. What's available and not available at level 1 with regard to Veteran and Pay-For capes is very inconsistent. -
Pro tip: Buy the Architect Edition (boxes in some game stores, or through Amazon, or just the digital rights via the PlayNC store).
You get a free month worth $15. You get a coupon to redeem for the Magic Booster (which has the cape and jacket you want) or the Cyborg Booster which is worth $10 if bought separately. That's a $25 value and the Architect Edition only costs $20.
And do the same with the Good v. Evil Edition and the Mac Edition (usable by PC owners). Each comes with a free month worth $15, a goodie package worth $10 if sold separately; and each cost only $20. -
Also, you're starting to get close to a full C: drive, you're already more than three quarters there.
1. Go to control panel and then Add/Remove Programs and get rid of any programs you don't need any more.
2. Go into Windows Explorer (not the Internet Explorer) and right click on your C: drive and chose Properties. Under the General Tab, you'll see a button for Disk Cleanup, run it and get rid of deleted (recycle bin) and temp files.
3. Under the General Tab, make sure Indexing is not selected. Unless you need to do quick searches of your documents on a regular basis, you don't need this. It may take a while to propagate the un-indexing to all the sub-folders.
4. Go to the Tools Tab and click on the defrag button. Run the defragger. It may take an hour or two to defrag. Make sure the computer doesn't power down during it (you'll find power options where you change the screen saver -- right click on desktop...). -
It's not like none of us ever tried to enter the tram from the exit door and cursed how the game was broken. <whistles innocently>

You have a torrent application running in the background. Accessing the Market is a huge database dump and background internet programs aren't going to behave nicely when both programs want to access the Net at the same time.
While your killing background processes: Why are there three different mouse drivers running? Also, don't have Outlook running at the same time as CoH. Or java or acrobat. Or Windows sidebar.
If cleaning the background of your OS doesn't help. Try issuing this command right before interacting with the Market:

It doesn't hurt for everyone on the team to go to Bloody Bay and pick up a Shivan. That detour is less time than experiencing multiple team wipes.
[/ QUOTE ]
And this is why I'll never do a STF, a LRSF, or Hamidon raid, as you seem to be expected to have a shivan and a nuke or two for those. I haven't been in a PvP zone since Issue 6 went live, and I'm not about to go in one now.
[/ QUOTE ]
I suggested it for the team stuck in a STF. Most good teams don't need it. Most Hamidon raids do without it. I'll give you the LRSF as problematic... it's a broken Strike Force completely unbalanced for this game.
And your aversion to a PvP zone is rather ridiculous at this point. Bloody Bay is almost always a ghost town. If you go with your TF team, no one's going to touch you. The zone has inspiration vendors so that you can pop whatever you need to survive a ganker til your team shows up. And with a team, the Firebase is easily overcome and you all 'create' the Shivan Shard lickety split.
Really, you need to get over this 'forced to zone PvP' nonsense in order to pick up a Shivan power. -
I'll admit that when I'm LAN-partying CoH with guy-friends and they get up from their computer for the kitchen or washroom, I'll hop onto their computer and type in broadcast:
I'M A PRETTY GIRL!!!
And let them deal with the consequence when they get back.
This just shows that password protection doesn't go far enough. Each execution of a command, chat line, emote, or power should require the input of one's password again just to be safe. -
I've been on good teams that simply hit a brick wall with Ghost Widow or Mako or the inability to separate the Lieutenants or to deal with Recluse.
For Recluse, you either need a Tank who knows what their doing or who has very, very good healing support; or a sniper who knows the magic place to hover to keep Recluse preoccupied figuring out how to get at the sniper.
It doesn't hurt for everyone on the team to go to Bloody Bay and pick up a Shivan. That detour is less time than experiencing multiple team wipes. -
Are you planning to stop all who rob or plunder?

Plus if anyone was waiting to get into a Supers MMO and were going to go with CO in April of this year, they were told it was really going to be July.. and just recently it's really going to be this September.
Plus, marketing is starting to finally do their job: product placement on TV; web advertising; simplified and easy Trials; Game Card and Architect box on real store shelves and available at Amazon; easy upgrade from trial to full game; fansite blitz (actually flying in MMO and game fansite writers to San Fran for a preview to Architect); etc... -

This very issue is why I include the $level switch with all my channel keybinds.

For all you role-players, use this bind:
/bind Ctrl+L "local Don't mess with me! I have Security Clearance Level $level!" -
1. Reboot.
2. If that doesn't work, go to C:/programs/City of Heroes directory and delete checksum.coh then reboot and allow the client to reverify. -
This might be related to the crashes many people are experiencing at the end of the final mission of a TF. Send in a Customer Service ticket, they should be excited to get such a reproducible bug.
In the meantime, please post the results of these two programs:
<ul type="square">[*]CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
[*]HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

Turn off water effects, bloom, and desaturation: ATI cards don't like that in CoH.
If you get the extraneous polygons again, especially in Grandville, disable Geometry Buffers. -
Devs decided to make the slash command '/help' and its alias, '/h', open up the help window rather than be the command to type in the help channel. The new slash command to type in the help channel is '/hc'.
So, to ask, "Where are the Circle of Thorn in Kings Row?" you would type...
/hc Where are the Circle of Thorn in Kings Row?
When they did this, they introduced a bug, namely, when one tries to type with the help tab active, instead of typing in the help channel, which is what it's supposed to to, you instead wind up issuing internally the /help command which is no longer the help channel but the display help window command. That's why it's telling you too many arguments since the new /help command takes 0 arguments.
