I'm the type to welcome it into my house and then greet with full on SWAT gear, night vision goggles, and an FN-P90 with silencer and that green dot laser sight so they can't see it... but I sure as hell can. I'd turn my stairway into the scariest damn fortress anyone ever did see in a house Don't worry the red there is just paint but over there.... someone didn't get the memo... ooo >_<

What can I say, if people don't take the first warning seriously... well how am I supposed to be taken seriously? Simple -calmly states and shakes his head nonchalantly- you lead by selecting one of them as an example.

"Yo-yo-yo, oh no you didn't. Go bring your friends I got plenty in this baby for all yo boys. Ya hurd me?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still say that the best way to defuse that sort of thing is to avoid threats, and to do it before it gets past the point where you can't stop it without violence.

If you have to, by being far more intimidating then the other person expects. Tone, phrasing, and the right look can all imply things that while you don't outright state them, can very much give the impression that you are not a person to be screwed with.

Being a short, Islands girl from out of town in the middle of Hicksville, USA (or a subsidy thereof), I perfected that art very well in high school. >.> I got told a lot that I'm a wonderful person to be around, but I can be damn frightening, especially since it's so damn hard to tell if I'm actually being serious or I'm just goofing around.
  2. Still hope things improve for you, mang. Especially in the area of the jerb and growth. That later one gives me the heebie jeebies something fierce.

As to the redneck guy, eh. That's something I'm just going to caution you handle carefully. No need for you to get hurt or arrested for some backwater loser that's not worth a damn, right? Better to avoid something bad altogether.

*Quietly replaces all of the coffee in the Rookery with nice, sweet, delicious Kona blend.*

    It's a Good coffee day.
  3. *Flumps down into a chair, dressed up in neo-space-elf armor (sans helmet) and gets herself some coffee.*

...Been screwing around with reading Warhammer 40k lore for the better part of the morning, and it's got me fairly pumped up for some reason.
  4. I'm sort of confused.

People seem to be misconstruing the word 'ignorance'.

It's not a bad word, people. It's just used (like many other words, such as 'love', 'hate', and 'bacon') poorly by people that don't fully grasp that the word itself is only valid in that context because it's been misused by so many people over the years it's assumed that's how it's supposed to be used.

Newbies are ignorant. People that don't want to learn are ignorant. People that know and don't care can be considered functionally ignorant for all intents and purposes.

Newbies can be taught, and hopefully in the most polite, respectful, and informative manner possible so as not to hurt their feelings. Newbies are people, too, they're just learning the ropes. That's all. We're all newbies in relation to some factor of the game - it's our job as quality players (I'm assuming that at least half the people reading this can say they're a 'quality' player, at any rate) to make the learning experience as smooth as possible for new people, and correct them on the proper terminology - and why it's used instead of other things - so that they don't feel as awkward in the community, or catch heat for just plain not knowing any better.

People that don't want to learn should be informed in a similarly polite, and respectful manner. Eventually, it will stick, and they may or may not choose to actually use what they've learned. It's their choice, though, and they should be allowed to make it.

People that know, and don't care that they're using improper terminology and inefficient tactics? Are both lazy and ignorant, and perhaps incompetent (not always, though), and while they should be educated as to this fact in as polite a manner possible, but without forcing it. They can and should be allowed to choose to be a lazy, ignorant person.

...For the record, I rarely, if ever, practice what I preach. If you're going to make a comment about hypocrisy, please don't. I'm well aware, and frankly my dear, I just don't give a damn.

    Take that as you will.
  5. I'm here because I post damn near everywhere out of principle. Infact, the only places I can say I don't post are server forums (beyond Virtue anyway), developer/player help forums.. the Multi-Media, Forum Games, and Roleplay Boards... Aaaand maybe one or two other places.

I have at least one character of each AT on my home server. Those ATs I love the most tend to get 3 out of my 30 slots devoted to them. The current roster?

Blasters, Brutes, Controllers, Corrupters, Dominators, and Scrappers.

    In alphabetical order, no less.

Doesn't mean I don't peek in on other forums from time to time - I just rarely post in AT forums unless it's Stupid-o-Clock or I have some point I want to make (in the most sarcastic roundabout fashion possible).

Usually, though, I just stick to the Comic, City Life, or Virtue boards. Dunno why. More fun topics, I guess.

    Heeey. I already said that!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes you did! I been replying as I go.

    Reply faster! Gogogo! :3
  7. Ahh. Nifty. So it's more of an 'We can expect at least this much' sort of thing. That'll be handy in future speculations!

If only recharge was touched, to meet the rules to the key, it would have to be changed to a 56 second recharge, this would lower dps drastically.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looking for a little clarification on this point. Was that a typo, or did he really mean 56 seconds? What's the recharge set to now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's currently 10. The next 'most balanced' version is 20.

If Starsman's cruising through... How far off is the Blaster version from the baseline?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
If there is a rule that is never followed it is not really a rule then is it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It technically makes it more of a general guideline, then it does a rule. Specifically:

This is the baseline. In order to make powers more or less interesting, or to create a specific 'feel' within a set, some powers may be above or below this line as long as it's within a reasonable difference and it's made up somewhere in the set, or that it's not likely to produce any catastrophicaly weird effects.*

*I have absolutely no idea if this is actually how it's used, however it is how I would use it were I designing a system to create a point of balance.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
This is dumb anyway. You people just like arguing for the sake of arguing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That about sums up the internet right there, mang.

You can stamp your foot and claim you're going home, but trying to claim we're at fault for whatever reason is ridiculous. It takes two to tango, after all. Sometimes more, if you get a good line dance going.

I just got promoted on the channel.

    All is lost.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you kidding? I had * there for, like, ever, and everything has been fine.

Still not sure why. I mean, honestly, I'm the last person I'd trust with responsibility.
  12. IIRC, if it says in-game that it should accept those sets, then it is most likely a typo.

Dark Servant, to my knowledge, doesn't have any powers that do damage - the main thing that RIP (I giggle every time I use it in this context) sets were designed to buff up (being that they, yanno, have +Damage mods).

It can't slot for something it doesn't have, or at least that's how I understand Pet sets working. Some of them however are bugged to do exactly that, which is a far worse problem then what we have here...

EDIT: Huh, faux pas on my part. I was unaware that it had Tenebrous Tentacles - which does indeed do damage as far as I know. But, it still doesn't accept straight Damage enhancements, so I'm not sure why it would say it takes RIP sets.
  13. Sending the best of wishes to Mids, for putting together one of my most heavily used out-of-game tools, period. In any MMO.

And a salute to the people at the Titan Network, for keeping it alive for the future. o7
  14. I get that a lot, too.

Some silly thing about girls not being 'metal' enough. I can rawk hard, too!

Ain't no thang, though. S'all good, wut wut.
  15. To be honest, this is my 'light' death ray.

I felt that this wasn't exactly a job that necessitated the Super Orbital Death Ray that I normally only reserve for those moments that I need to express my extreme displeasure.

Nothing says '[explicitive] you' like a giant, 5-mile high column of pure destruction, after all.
  16. Seen it before, but it's still amazingly well choreographed.

I find that kind of stuff just... endlessly faskinating to watch, and that's why I tend to be so into well-done shonen anime. Some of the better, more action-focused ones are just beautiful to watch.

Moribito's honestly good for awesome fight scenes, as an aside. But, then, I'm a sucker for polearms and it was awesomely choreographed. <.<
  17. Yanno, I get that a lot.

*Pops into the Rookery through a loose electrical outlet and bounds into the center of a chocolate donut while giving Emmi a snug and Neko a fuzzle.*

Good morning everyone, nice to see new faces. We may need to move a couple walls back the way this place is growing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yar gudt, commandant.

*Whips out an X-117 Death Ray (Intended for Purely Peaceful Purposes) and starts knocking out walls.* More space! You heard the man. COWER BEFORE MY MIGHT, PUNY WALLS! Ahahahahahahahaaaaahahaha!

....We may need construction bots to put up new walls soon.

I can handle my own security *huggles broadsword*

Nah....I'm too mean to be in a serious position of authority. Regulations just tie me down hehe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Preachin' to the choir, Tarbles.

I'm more likely to fire a death ray or fireball at offenders.

...Do we even get offenders in here most of the time? Iunno..
  20. We don't have a huge guy at the door. But we do have a guard fox!

    *Dons her security hat.*

Then again, with my rampant apathy, it's not like it matters much. *Sprawls in the hammock and dozes.*
  21. *Sprawls on the FoC and pulls her hat down.*

Gonna be a long, slow day for this ol' Fox. Not doin' nuthin' srs today. Been too srs lately. Getting burnt out and grumpy. I need to relax, take it easy, and find my center for at least a day or so.

...that means loading up my favorite FPS and Hack/Slash games and going to town like a fox possessed.
  22. One internet for you, dear sir. <3
  23. Faskinating, but can you do one to calculate the total percentage of the mob-base that has X or Y resistance next? :3

If you give a nerd a spreadsheet... it'll just ask for you to calculate another scenario.

    US airports.

Yeah, ok, you're going to tell me this is a US game, and I'll have to agree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it was just the quickest example I had on-hand. I don't know enough about international culture to make such a claim in that particular direction, but I'm sure if you think about it you can find something.

Stupid isn't limited to a single geographical region, after all, and sadly enough neither are dumb ideas to protect stupid.
