Thunder Strike is a massive single target attack, with neglegible AoE. It's little more than a BI point, AoE. The real power is in the single target damage, which, needless to say, is spectacular.
-
Hmm... nah. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
Ah well. This is the link I use when I encounter thread necromancy. -

FYI, Lightning Rod's Recharge Time will be being reduced.
[/ QUOTE ]
(tries to push luck)
can we get a dmg boost?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. I should say, "Not Likely" since anything is possible. Lightning Rod, with it's Area of Effect, does about twice the damage of any other Brute tier 9 power. Against a single target, its damage is comparable to Greater Fire Sword.
EDIT: Chain Induction: We're looking at options on this. The XP loss was not intended, but may be unavoidable with the current design.
[/ QUOTE ]
Castle, since you're posting here now, is there any chance of upping Thunder Strike's damage to something resembling the blaster version? It could use a damage boost in the single target aspect. We could use a heavy single-target hitter. -
That looks good, but please, please, please, please, PLEASE slot Shocking Grasp. Best attack in the /Elec set, in my opinion. Well, barring Thunder Strike of course. They're both gems. Big fat gems.
-
I never needed Acrobatics. Try and fit in Aid Self earlier, preferably before Stamina. Get Tesla Cage at 18, trust me, I was a new blapper after that power.
I also highly suggest double acc slotting. And a slotting of 2 acc, 2 damage, 2 hold in Shocking Grasp. It does approximately Lightning Bolt damage, so it's excellent. Or, you could try an alternative and go 2 acc, 2 damage, 2 end drain. The Boss Drainer version, that would be. Slap that on, then hit it with Short Circuit = instant perma-drained boss post-I7.
On a side note, Mystic, get busy updating this guide! -
Sorry for double post:
I noticed, one time, that Shadow Maul's animation looked as if *I* was the one getting hit by it. The whole "OMG I'm being ravaged!" look. Tried to reproduce it, but failed. It occured on the rare occasion when you just stand there while the animation plays out, such as when you drop from fly while activating a power, your character will simply drop and do nothing while the power animates. Just an odd thing I noticed. -
I'm fine with the non-crit. If it's still a 6.0 BI attack, we'll still be outdamaging Bone Smasher most of the time.
Edit again 'cause I forgot this wasn't the Dark Armour thread -
That's one of Thunder Strike's main abilities, the ability to send several things flying while a lot of times just outright killing the selected one. It's a very powerful attack in my opinion, and wish Master Mystic would come to love it as I have
-
Yes, I use Thunderous Strike 'cause it's *almost* Total Focus damage. Shocking Grasp with Lightning Bolt damage means I use it offensively, but still try and use it to greatest effect I can, I.E. setting it on a troublesome lieutenant and letting it tick away. Makes for a nice attack chain.
-
In my experiences, Charged Bolts just gets used too rarely. I still run Hasten. Between all the melee attacks, Lightning Bolt, and Ball Lightning, and cycling Aim and BU, I rarely find time to use Charged Bolts. When I exemp beneath it (took it at 47 I believe), I simply don't miss it.
I've been thinking of respeccing into Voltaic Sentinel. It fires the same damage as Charged Bolts, doesn't it? And you don't have to activate it except at the beginning, so it's like a free bit of damage every once in a while. -

Howdy Pos'!
Will the sniper blast powers available to Stalkers in the Patron pools be able to do Critical damage when executed from Hide?
Don't work too hard in your digital salt mine, dude.

Can you tell us why certain powers (Lightning Rod, Chain Induction) won't be effected by Fury? Will they be just too uber with it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Lightning Rod does build Fury, we fixed that very recently. Not sure about Chain Induction though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, not sure what you mean here. Do you mean Lightning Rod will now EFFECT Fury, or Lightning Rod will be EFFECTED BY Fury? Because the OP was asking about the latter.
It sounds like you are saying Lightning Rod did not build Fury before, and now it will. But more people are concerned about Fury not boosting its damage.
[ QUOTE ]
And Lightning Rod gets my vote for Coolest Use of the Power System.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I think most people underestimate exactly what it going on here, or think it's just a foe targetted attack. But it's a teleport followed by a PBAoE attack. Which if I'm guessing right is not possible. Instead you probably have a delayed reaction Location AoE that goes off at the same time you arrive. The way you chained together a bunch of different powers to make it look that way is probably pretty cool.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm rather curious about that too, but considering the fact that he's human, I'm sure he simply mispoke; it wouldn't matter much to me if it built a couple points of Fury, but would matter is if the thing used Fury to boost damage. If it doesn't, it better have one big BI, like 20 BI, to compensate. -

Gah, no one asked the important question:
Is there plans to give elec melee to heroes (preferrably scrappers)?
[/ QUOTE ]
I figured the important question was the quality of Elec Melee. I'm sure when I8 is hyped up big time there'll be another "Can we ask Posi questions?" thread, and then we can think about asking if there's Elec Melee for scrappers or tanks. -

OK, last question I'll answer today. Apologies to those that are typing up questions as I write this.

Woot! Got in the last question.
And I agree; the mere thought of tele-smash is amazingly cool.
Thanks for taking the time to answer, Pos! -

And if you can't answer that...
Will there be more Nemesis in CoV when I7 hits? I love their arcs. All the plots within plots within plots to stop a good guy's plot to undermine his plots to stop the plots, etc. -
Kitty the Necromancer! You horrible creature, this poor thread is DEAD!
-
Yay. I claim 1 influence each usage of the term "thread necromancy"!!

Interesting guide, but you messed up BoneSmasher's damage. It's not 4.5, it'd suck if it was that low.

Sonics has a lower accuracy than Electric, I recall.
[/ QUOTE ]
Charged Bolt: 100%
Lightning Bolt: 100%
Ball Lightning: 100%
Short Circuit: 130%
Zapp: 120%
Tesla Cage: 100%
Thunderous Blast: 140%
Shriek: 100%
Scream: 100%
Howl: 100%
Shockwave: 90%
Shout: 100%
Sirens Song: 90%
Screech: 100%
Dreadful Wail: 140%
Sonics doesn't have *bad* accuracy, in general, but Electric has very good accuracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you very much for clarifying the lack of Sonic accuracy problems. Very VERY appreciated. -
Gah. I will hold you responsible for the imminent mass of Ice tanks that will soon infest the PvP zones. Ice tanks are about the only thing my Nin/Nin cannot kill. Believe me, I've tried. I can take them to about 50%, but then they hit their bloody Hibernate and it's back to square one.
Either way, a very nice and very in-depth guide, and I know at least one person who'd be rather interested in seeing it. -

Surly some of these things could be fixed with a simple run through with a spell checker.
[/ QUOTE ]
You should see far fewer typo's in powers with I7. Thing's like "it's" for "its" on the other hand, are still likely to crop up and be low priority fixes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Does that mean that the Invuln typo is going to be fixed?
Note that I think that Invuln is fine the way it is, and was merely kidding. -

1.) If PlayerA gets hit by PlayerB for 1001 points of damage, PlayerA will end up with 10 hit points and still be alive, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Right.
[quiote]2.) If PlayerA gets hit by the Psychic Clockwork King for 2600 points of damage, PlayerA will end up with 10 hit points and still be alive, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Right.
[ QUOTE ]
3.) If PlayerA is damaged & has 800 hit points left, then something (PlayerB or a mob) does 1001 points of damage, will the player be at 10 hit points & still be alive?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong. Player A would be dead.
[ QUOTE ]
4.) If PlayerA is damaged & has 800 hit points left, then something (PlayerB or a mob) does 801 points of damage, will the player be at 10 hit points?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, Player A would be dead.
[ QUOTE ]
5.) If PlayerA is in a damage field (multiple Caltrops for example) and something does 1000 points of damage, will it even waste the time to do the calculation? Having 10 hit points in a persistant damage field is meaningless.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, it would do the calculation. Yes, at the end of that server tick, PlayerA would be left at 10 HP. At the next activation period of the Caltrops, however, if he has not been healed, he will be killed.
[ QUOTE ]
6.) Does this mean that people will survive exploding buildings in Steel Canyon?
[/ QUOTE ]
In theory, yes.
[ QUOTE ]
7.) Also, will this niffty new one-shot code introduce lag?
[/ QUOTE ]
Any new serverside check will introduce a small amount of 'lag.' However, since we are constantly working on ways to improve the servers, this really shouldn't not be a noticable factor.
[ QUOTE ]
8.) What is being done to compensate (if anything) the Stalkers that could one-shot? How about the Brutes that can one-shot?
[/ QUOTE ]
No compensation is being given, nor is it warranted.
[ QUOTE ]
In my opinion, the one-shot code should apply to pve only (unless someone can come up with a good reason to have it impact pvp).
[/ QUOTE ]
It is PvE and PvP for a variety of reasons.
[/ QUOTE ]
_Castle_, so is it no longer possible for a player to one shot an NPC? Or does this only apply to being one shotted as a player character? -
[ QUOTE ]
1. We're looking into the tweak to Endurance for mobs that's affected Endurance Drain abilities. Sorry about that!
2. We'll be putting in a check that prevents "one shotting"; if anything occurs within a fraction of second that brings a player from 100% Hit Points down to 0, we instead give the player 1% Hit Points.
That's all for now.
[/ QUOTE ]
*Ahem*
Doom.
That is all. -

I caught a mid-20 level-ish Stalker near the Hero base couple of days ago. He was one of a group that was gunning for me for me being one of those who like to use tp-foe into NPCs as tactic. Anyway I discovered him just as he was beginning the AS animation next to me, and I immediately popped him with a hold, which interrupted the AS and also slowed him down. Being a stalker, he got off a super jump and began to jump away. But just as he jumped, I threw a web grenade at him. Slowed and immobilized, he landed smack in the middle of a group of Tsoo. As he got beaten to death by the tsoo inkmen, I watched from a distance and laughed
