I think I would have less of an issue if there wasn't a population cap in place. I realize that it was like everything else, done for a reason, but... it's really limiting. That's not even full 8 person teams, with 50. And I think I brought it up at one of the conventions in years past, that right after the raid changed, I was still losing most of the visuals if someone's aura went off - even with only 50 people in the zone. I think that may have sparked some kind of action, but not really sure, as I didn't bother going back to try again too often.
I don't want this game to feel like WORK. I have reality to do that for me, my reality sucks. I want my game life to be fun. Yes, I know, you need to earn stuff... however after doing probably more than 50 raids with the old style on my one 50, and then 2 on my later ones? It just didn't feel like it was worth my time or effort. I wasn't enjoying it, I won't bother going to do it again.
While it's true that "setting yourself on autofire" is "abberant" (since when is "what players like to do that isn't griefing" so wrong I might ask?) the old raid felt more like an assembly line of chatty workers. The new one, more like you're the tools being used, rather than the people using them. -
Well... see, that's the thing. We didn't. We didn't have to slog through endless yellow deaths, tp, rez, repeat. There were deaths, certainly, and there was griefing... but...
I think what I miss most about the old Hami raids was that you could pretty much set yourself on autofire halfway through the event, and just chat like a maniac with 100+ of your closest server friends. The social aspect is what seems quite missing, at least when I've done it. With only 50 people in the zone, for one thing, you're all having to really run around doing that walking uphill both ways.
Everyone could get their shots in, and as long as everyone (or most everyone) paid attention to the raid leader and their team coordination people, everyone got their hamiO with reasonable ease and lack of debt.
Plus it was something that could pretty much be done at the drop of a hat - "HAMI RAID! COME GET IT!" and anyone with a 45+ on the server could show up. Now, with the limit... not so much.
I dunno, I think it's just a kind of disappointing replacement difficulty for something that was pretty much a hilarious social gathering. -
lol no, they sucked. I was really shocked to see that what I thought I'd scanned in full glorious bitmappy goodness was 16 colors. Just goes to show: make sure your programs are all working together and you know what settings they're at

I hardly ever had the ability to dual box because my desktop just can't handle it, and my wireless router rarely worked so lap/desk was a bit difficult.
At one time I had four open accounts, mostly for padding sg's and trading items. However for those supergroups I never made "generic padder 12" or whatnot. I managed to get attached.
Most of mine are existing pre-COH characters that are slipped in here with whatever closeness I can make to their appearance as I know it. However, one supergroup, Spirits of Paragon, is pretty much all unique to Paragon.
Winter's True Spirit, Trickster's Jackalope, Icy Grip of the Bear, Thunderbird's Cry, those are some of the members. All magic origin (except one but she's technically magic, since she IS a mage... immortality has its benefits, you learn magic after a while) and mostly animal/nature spirits in upright form. Spiney Surprise is a hilarious porcupine... -
Did you need higher rez scans of the three you've done for me? (retail retali8r, winter's true spirit and trickster's jackalope) I know I sent you something but I also realized long after sending them that the reason it was so horribly under-colored was that the scanner decided to do things in like 16 colors instead of millions... durr.

Quote:Problem as I've seen it is that the backlog of work doesn't take a year - it's been more than a year for most of that work BEFORE he started dogging his commissions. Not to defend the situation, but even if Gil "finished" all the work. It could probably take him a year at best. A year of not getting paid to finish work he promised to do. Artist's, even mismanaging ones can't afford not to get paid. I'm not saying he did the right thing. A full cross the boards refund would be a good solution. It might even save his rep, what ever is left here that is... but who knows if he can afford to do that, is able to do that. Perhaps the money was spent... medical bills for his accident last year or so, or on new gear to support his new website. If it were me, the guilt would be gnawing at my bones. I was always amazed he could command such prices, it made me dream of being able to do so one day. But let's say only 5 commissions at $300 a piece? A possible $1500 worth of work due out there in virtual lala-land.... yoinks, that would put me in a coma!
Seriously, it is a comedy of errors on his part. He might be a great artist but right now I wouldn't pay ten bucks for anything from him because he *doesn't produce*. What someone's worth artistically speaking for commissions is not JUST reliant on the quality of their workmanship, it's also their professionalism.
He is not a professional artist. He is a scam artist, perhaps, at best, who can also draw. It's just very sad. I'm glad that I never had the inclination to be put on an already-complaining long waiting list to get something from him that I know I'd never see. -
It actually looks more and more like a building I've seen in a g-mod that you can fight in/around. But it isn't, it's just hideous.
-
Not really a buff but it seems to me, that with the designs used - lack of parking, complete lack of suburban areas actually shown... It almost looks like they've taken picture postcards of skylines of cities, the shiny building exteriors, and put them down into a square grid.
Founders Falls changes all that, when you look at it for the first time. That zone shows a lot of flavor that does seem to capture a more old-world look or at least an older american city feel.
The entire feel of the COV zones is very different, and though I could poke lots and lots of holes in the layouts of their streets and buildings (like ... trucks backed into a space and there's a fence not 3 feet from their front end? how'd it get there?) it feels more realistic and very old-worldish. Not like, so old-world to look truly european, but not modern particularly, and that's nice, because half of it is rubble anyway so it all looks like a very worn, war-torn area. -
I'd just like the traffic lights to actually, you know, work...
And maybe a bus or two. And taxis. Not for us to use, but just to be there. -
Quote:I'll see your 4 riders and raise you a 5thIn all seriousness, my most 'disturbing' characters?
As a personal 'group' I made 'The Riders'. They don't have proper names, so I'll just give the names I wanted:
War:
Pestilence:
Famine:
Death:
Not exactly the most disturbing people out there, but I didn't make them for creep factor.
Atrocity: originally created for a Deadlands game I never ran, lives up to his name, thriving on death, sex, leather, and generally messing things up for people. He's a version of another character I have (who has many, many dopplegangers in other genres as well), who has a tragic past - but this one enjoyed it so much he allowed all the horrible experiments his master was doing on him to continue, and actually WANTS to be evil, unlike most of his peers who got away from it.
As far as my most horrific creation... that'd have to be Eye-Sore.

And reminds me of Half Life 2. What a ... fugly building that is.

Hehe and perhaps the only good line from the Lost in Space movie, "I would know, I'm a monster." *because Zorg is also Dr Smith... *

Oooh ooh, another of my faves:
5th Element
Robber: GIMME THE CAAA--ssshhhhhhsshhshshshshs!!!
...
Corben Dallas: Nice hat.
Robber: Y'like it?
Robber: *does a dance* -
I don't really want this game to be plagued by more Michael Jackson dance moves. Honestly.
More dance moves in general, yes. But not those. I love the disco pack idea lol. But then again I designed a fake power pool around roadies and raving rock fans, so... -
Oh hells yes. I would so want this. A dayjob accolade would be perfect for it, actually.
-
I miss them too. Right now it's too complicated to figure out who's commented or when on what posts, I would far rather just deal with whoever decides to slam me on a single basis.
I mean... that's how it SHOULD have been dealt with, right? Why punish those of us who don't spam awful things on accounts, when it's obviously just one or two (or a dozen) people who should have their priveleges taken from THEM? Seriously. Stop punishing everyone for the bad actions of a couple. -
The only problem I have ever had with it isn't really it's fault at all. I went negative in my bank account while trying to move money FROM paypal TO that account, but because there was a negative on the other end it kind of threw its hands up in the air and said I dunno wtf to do here.
Other than that it's a lifesaver in my opinion. I have no trouble with it, as long as I know there's an open account on the other end of it, I'm good. -
Quote:It's been a long-known issue that purchasing *anything* through NC in rapid fire has been a problem, though. It's hardly paypal's fault. It was a pain in the butt to fix. I'm in North America. And trust me, funding wasn't the problem.
They didn't say why, but I think it was because I made two of the exact same purchases at the same time.
And I had to change my Paypal password, resubmit my credit card information, and go through an automated phone call to confirm my account. And THEN spend 15 minutes on the phone to fix it. So, yeah. That torked me off. -
Quote:Wonder whether this may be the same kind of weird teeny bug that hit npc's occasionally? Where there would be two normal sized Hellions trying to steal a tiny midget woman's purse?Okay just took Babbage down in Skyway on Freedom and Babbage was "teeny." He was barely bigger than the heroes fighting him; is this a bug or the new, improved, economically challenged Babbage?
Have the clockwork felt the recession pinch? Has the stimulus plan not provided enough work for the Gear Union? -
Wow, that's odd because I could swear they've been normal on most of my other toons, but then I haven't checked up on em recently. Wonder if this was a 'this update' problem? Or whether they were like that and no one noticed much? Because I like those shoulder options, they're ... sinister.
-
It's not necessarily either of their fault. Do you have enough money in the account?
Are you buying from a country which doesn't deal well with NC? They have a number of problems with south american countries, though I thought they'd fixed some of those by using paypal at all. Dunno. But I don't think it's worth getting your panties in a bunch about. -
"I'd buy that for a dollar!" - robocop
I think even though it's been like 15 years or so since I've seen Robocop (the first one) I can still quote a lot of it. It was probably the most quotable movie I bothered to quote from, actually. I mean, I love other films and Robocop is *not* my favorite movie ever, but it's certainly got a ton of quotables.
"Pretty simple math, huh Bob?"
"Stay out of ... trubble."
"They'll fix you. They fix everything."
