  1. I don't tend to mess with the formula (so to speak) anymore when I go out to regular places.

When I hit up Sonic's, though? I go for broke and really try to pick an interesting flavor every time I'm there.

Pineapple rootbeer? Awesome. Grape Dr. Pepper? ...Not so much, akshuly.
  2. I personally find red-side before 25 to be a little light, but once I hit that point I tend to start enjoying myself more often. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time to seriously dedicate play sessions to levelling, and almost certainly not when there'd be the chance of a team. :/

Curse of a wonky sleep schedule. C'est la vie.

EDIT: MA's actually helped a bit, at least. Especially in making it so I don't have to run the Radio if I don' wanna. And I don't, really.

Elitism can work in both ways, you know.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Being a veteran who doesnt wince at a phrase is far from elitist. I play the game for fun, I leave my ego at the log in screen, I dont care if I'm considered or called a "healer" on my defender since its pure semantics and has nothing to do with me personally. If you get kicked off a team because somone wanted you to heal, then hey tough. But honestly how much does this happen? and in the end you'll get another team. And so the world keeps going. See in the end , after you sign off and head to the real world, the giant ego you have on the boards about a phrase, is diluted by real life problems and or agendas.

Thats what people are doing here, arguing over semantics. Because you just cant accept a phrase as "healer". I suppose your one of those people who call waiters "servers" or Stewardesses "Flight attendants". Whether you do or you dont, its all semantics, if you let some thing like that bother you, then you seriously need some down time. Rethink your life, because you failed somewhere along the road.

Any other assumptions or general antagonism you want to throw at me (or the general public)? I'd really like you to get it all out of your system before I even bother replying, as you seem to delve into them quite frequently and frankly they do sort of reduce the chances of actually discussing the topic with anything even remotely resembling civility.

As that's all I'm interested in doing - discussing a topic, and explaining my viewpoint on it, and why I think a particular term is both inaccurate and a little shortsighted to use.

Going to emphasize that for your consideration: My only feelings in regard to the term in question is that I feel it's fairly inaccurate and shortsighted.

With that out of the way, please. Do get any further negativity out of your system, and try to debate like a thoughtful, mature person. I can't guarantee I'll do the same, but I certainly find pretend fun enough to give it a shot if you will. :3

    Blue Steel Facts

Behind his shield, Blue Steel has another shield. No one has yet managed to see what is behind that shield, however, as most people tend to be defeated by the first and only glimpse the second before they pass out or expire.

    The Sea Witch

Elec/Storm can be brutal, especially at Elite Boss (or is she an Archvillain, and would've scaled down to it?) levels.

When you first face her as a Boss, she's nothing special, but in the time between then and the next time, she takes a level in badass. :/

Do not resist. Instead, embrace your dark side. Get to know it. Be real good, chummy friends with this thing that was always there. Lurking in the shadows like an old friend, embarrassed to show it's face.

It's not an embarrassment. It can be an ally.

All you have to do is join us. Come to the dark side. Feed your inner darkness' hunger for evil deeds. And maybe... maybe, one day when you're ready... You can feed it something more.

But we'll wait for you to figure out what it wants. What it needs. These small, tiny acts of evil are enough to help it along for now.

Embrace the evil. One little bit at a time.

    SO NOT LISTENING!

    [/ QUOTE ]

What's the worst that could happen? :3 You start to enjoy it?

Come on, it's not like we're all bad people. What really makes the things we do so bad? I mean, when you stop to seriously think about it.. Isn't Longbow there when they shouldn't be? Golly. That's trespassing. We can't have that, can we? And to make it worse, they're even paying other groups and peoples to come over, too, and cause even more trouble. That's not very fair, is it?

Who's to say you're exactly wrong for going over to Paragon and maybe breaking a few things. It happens. I'm sure their insurance will cover it all. And the bank? They're bloated, corrupt facilities that just support even more broken ones. Crey has an account, I'm sure. And we know what they do there, right? What about Nemesis? I bet he has a number of them. And then there's all the subsidies that they make money off of. You're stealing from criminals. That makes you a hero, doesn't it?

And look at all of these vile villains running around, unchecked. Someone's got to stop them. The RIP? Hah. They're villains themselves. They're just a ruse, thrown up by Lord Recluse to say that he does police his own. But they're corrupt, almost to a man.

Maybe there's good people in the Isles. Maybe. Or, more likely, they're all pretending they're something they're not. Throwing up a mask to help them sleep at night. That nice old teacher, just trying to help people reform? Please. She's starting a little rebellion, and once the movement gets big enough, she'll set it off. And think of all the truly innocent people that would be hurt in that scuffle. You're doing a good thing by stopping her. You don't even have to hurt her - just hand her to the right people, and they'll take care of it all. No death. No mess. Problem solved, nice and clean.

Just because you do things that are bad... doesn't mean you're a bad person. You just gotta be more careful about it. You can be careful, right?

Or if it's not, you at least get into one over-the-top kung-fu battle that makes up for it later!
  12. S'what I recommend, honestly. I personally love the snot out of both sets, and would prooobably say 'BOTH!' enthusiastically.

I mean, I have both on both sides.
  13. Can we at least change that quote to the one where I didn't bugger up? That's a rather embarrassing comment, considering I was going on a tirade about scientific certainty and then contradicted myself both grammatically and scientifically.

As we have proven that animals have both of those things!

It is hilarious to see people who think they are any different than the animals we see. Doesn't mean you aren't special, just means you aren't special for THAT reason.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find it equally hilarious you think you're the same as a piece of furred flesh that does not communicate, does not build or create, and does not have an immortal soul. I find those traits to be rather special.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Show me indisputable evidence of an immortal soul, and I'll grant that your claim animals do not possess them has plausibility, until such time that you show beyond all doubt that they do not, indeed, possess these things.

And to appease the court in Switzerland, I'm also going to have to ask you to provide infallible evidence that plants also do not have immortal souls (to appease those among us that feel plants have memories and emotions).

Honestly? I hope you can't. That's something that belongs purely in the realm of faith, and once faith becomes knowledge... you tend to take it for granted.

    EDIT: Whoopsie. Wrong kingdom there.

    Since I'm here

Hmm. >> << Ah, what the heck.

    For the villainous of mind:
    #105556 - Competitive Interests
A shady tale of shady business, all starting from a simple anonymous contact and leading up into a rather violent investigation of a small firm that's making a little name for itself...

Small warning - the group set in opposition for this arc is a highly trained/modified security force, and they behave like it (by all reports so far). Means they're a lot like Legos - the more they stack up, the more impressive they look. It's by design, and I did try to make sure that particular feeling stayed, while keeping them in the realm of 'soloable'. Still working on that..

It ain't normal; never will be. Just another fetish, less creepy than some and more creepy than others.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's actually quite common even outside of the world of humans. It's not like we invented it, or are unique. And to say it's not natural is a stretch. Normal? Hard to say. What's normal, really?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am not an animal. I do not engage in cannibalism and incest. I do not take my behavioral cues from the mindless ant that will march in circles to its death, nor the shark that eats its own kind when frenzied. The natural law of mankind takes little to nothing from animals.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the point is that it's an aberrant form of behavior from any logical standpoint, but it's one that's prevalent in more then just the sentient species, which tends to suggest it's caused by something deeper then just the thinky parts of your brain.

Maybe it's genetic. Maybe it's chemical. Maybe it's not any one thing, but a mix of everything at once. Maybe with enough of one thing, you can make a solid choice to do one or the other, or both if you're a freak and roll that way.

I'd say it's a stretch to call it 'normal' reproductive behavior, but there's more behaviors then just reproductive. Clearly there's something there we're just plain missing that needs to be looked into, as well.

But, I'm not going to over-analyze it. I'm happy with my cuddly girl, and hell what the rest of you people think. If one thing I'm gonna do is piss you off, my romantic preferences will probably be the least likely.

    [ QUOTE ]
However, I'm fairly certain that the main reason that it doesn't currently work in an AoE is because then it would actually affect the caster (single target buffs don't for the simple fact you can't target yourself), and it may be felt that coupled with the rest of the +Damage and +Recharge buffs in Kinetics (and the End Recovery tools), that may be far too much for one set. And I can't say that I would exactly disagree with this sentiment.

It would be nice, but in consideration for greater game balance, it may just be a pipe dream.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure if this was brought up, but doesn't the fact that Grant Cover does not affect self say that it's possible to make this exclude yourself as an AoE?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hm. That's a fairly good point, but I'm sure that would get a lot of people foaming at the mouth, as well. Still, that's not exactly a bad suggestion... and makes me wonder what other kinds of powers they could apply it to, should they feel it's necessary.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Well, I didn't think it was that worth discussing because like you say, the functionality is already in the set. I do think it's somewhat redundant and maybe that should change, I just didn't see it as that relevant to my point.

If you did make the change I suggested, the +speed portion would still have utility as a supplemental travel power (if you want teleport or fly, it could give you some horizontal movement.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah. So you're still not even going to address the point that having two powers whose sole function is increasing travel speed and nothing else is redundant and silly, and instead ignore the fact that the powers you're seeking to change have other uses that reduces that redundancy.

Ah well. :/ And here I was hoping for something far more interesting.

  23. [ QUOTE ]
For the record, objecting to the term "healer" has nothing to do with being opposed to the use of healing powers. It's more that calling support sets/AT's "healers" is the functional equivalent of calling Tankers "knockback resisters".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Glad someone gets the basis of my argument from the other thread. :3
  24. :/ And yet, none of this addresses my problem with the term and usage of the word 'healer' at all, no matter how well thought out (though I question the accuracy when applied in the specific context of the OP) the argument may be.

And I do believe I've gone on record stating both what my issues with the context/usage are, and my general feelings about Healing in support sets. Though I'm perfectly happy to reiterate that for the billionth time.

Still, math is always fun to see when I don't have to do the work myself. And I do like a good discussion of logic. :3
