Lol...it's not that big guys. Acting like it's some game breaking advantage is just silly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not silly at all, it opens up a lot of options for vets who have played for YEARS while the rest of us are screwed in that regard.

Anyone who has played a PB or WS knows how nice it is to have a REAL travel power at low level as opposed to a crappy knock off temp power.

People here, to my knowledge, haven't even mentioned what I think is truly game breaking. You can now take the pre-requisite to another pool, and then the travel power from another pool, freeing up at LEAST one power pick to take other things. That's very powerful. I can now take Hasten and Super Jump! Gone, for 60 month vets, are the days of getting stuck with Super Speed cause they needed Hasten but couldn't fit another travel pool! They can just mix and match now!

Also, if there isn't a limit to this, like, if they can now take Flight, Super Speed, Super Jump, Teleport without any of the prerequisites, they could stack the hell out of those sexy Universal Travel bonuses (not that I would waste all 4 pools on travel, but you COULD if you wanted).

This just screams of unfair advantages in too many ways to count. This feels like the devs lied to me when they said that vet rewards would never give unfair advantages, only perks... but that's exactly what this is.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, it means you can SKIP taking the first or second power in the Travel Power Pools and, at level 6, pick the travel power immediately. No pre-requisites.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's [censored] [censored].

So much for vet rewards not giving unfair advantages.

Consider me a very pissed off customer who may NEVER get this reward, because it's so far in the future.

I doubt I'm the only one.

Too many kinds of lame to [censored] count.
  3. I for one, am happy the mission teleporter has such a long recharge. I wish it were longer. Actually, I wish it didn't exist at all.

I'm being completely serious. To me this power crosses a line I don't think should be crossed. It's anathema to the spirit of the game from my point of view. That said, it's here, and it has a suitably long recharge. I will probably use it myself, but I just find it... it just doesn't feel right to me. It feels cheap, like cheating.

Nice background story. I appreciate the efforts you made with camera movement, just wish you weren't so zoomed out for several shots. Nice montage of content though. I enjoyed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thank you

Yeah the zoomed out thing is frustrating. Even though I make a conscious effort to zoom in, I have an automatic habit to zoom out that I don't notice a lot while it's happening. When playing normally, my camera is generally zoomed out quite far (check out my other vids there to see what I mean ). For some of the shots, it was intentional (Rikti Raid), for others, not so much (Cimerora, etc.).

  6. Learning a new system doesn't make your writing automatically lose a level. I know this from experience. If anything, it should make a writer better. Writers are artists. Highly creative people with deep thought and feeling, generally. Introducing them to new situations should challenge them on a critical level, and allow them to learn and grow as artists. Maybe they were just playing it safe. In that case, please stop guys. Write from your heart, not from your brains, we'll all be happier.
  7. What the hell are the writers doing with all their time? The other devs had the time to basically build 14 all new ATs (while they were trashing PvP), and the writers only got a few, short story arcs out? Story arcs with no new tilesets or anything? No new game systems? and they aren't even INTERESTING? WTF? There's not even a human element to them, they are just flat and bland. They are just THERE. There is nothing even remotely exiting or interesting about them, I don't feel involved, I don't FEEL anything. I may as well just go over to Valerius and run his random missions, cause they're actually more interesting.

I know this is harsh, but I say this under the distinct impression that you can DO BETTER. I have a genuine faith that you are better writers than this, but I am incredibly disappointed in exactly how mediocre the writing has been since I11 went live. No, not just disappointed, CONFUSED.

I create a longer Oblivion mod with custom meshes, textures, and voice acting in less time. I wrote 250+ pages in my novel during October. You've been working on I13 for like, what, 6+ months? All you have to do is WRITE, you don't even have to make anything new or special in terms of gameplay mechanics or new tilesets, all you have to do is WRITE and get the player engaged. You're failing. I urge you to re-examine your efforts for I14, to rethink what you're doing. You need a human element, a personal element, not just "Hi, I'm awesome, go here, do this, come back". It's lacking, and it's killing your story arcs.

Us players are not stupid, and neither are you. After 6 or more months working on the story arcs for this issue, I expected a lot better.

What I'm further perplexed by is the lack of open writing positions at NC NorCal. Writing is integral to a game, it's the glue that holds all the glitz and explosions and XP together for many people. It doesn't seem like you have enough of them. I suggest hiring more. I'd work for you, I'd gladly deal with all the orders and the pouring of whipped cream and beer on my head for the chance to help, but the chances of you guys wanting me around is .. well, that feels like a joke.

Subjective Feedback: How it Feels? It feels really disheartening and discouraging, actually. I feel as if I have little to no chance to ever gain any of the more desirable inventions. It feels as if I've been punished for actually playing the content previously. It honestly feels as if the only factor that was considered was "This Group of People are getting these recipes too Fast!", and instead of Fixing the Problem, you Butchered the system and put in a new one, with limits designed to specifically affect those individuals that were 'Too Fast', without a thought in the world about how it would change things for the Casual Player.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also nailed it. This is also the same thing they did with PvP. Instead of curing the disease, they murder the patient with an axe.

I used to absolutely love this game, but after I13, I am just wondering what the [censored] happened to our devs. Bring them back, please.

    Subjective:

    Merits feel like a grind.

Let me emphasize that, A GRIND.

Before Issue 13, even before it went live, when the Merit System was revealed for what it was, my interest in playing the game dwindled. I lost heart.

Under the old system: Finish Task Force: Oooh, I get a shiny! Maybe it would be something good or useful to that character or that could be shared, or maybe it wouldn’t, but there was instant gratification to this.

Under the new system: Finish Task Force: Oh, gee, um, merits. Kind of dry, tastes like cardboard. Gee, how many more TFs do I have to do to get my shiny? No instant gratification. Even if the task force was long enough to meet the 20 merit goal of being ‘worthy’ of a random roll, the player still has to make a trip to turn them in. There’s no excitement to this.

I understand the goals, both stated and unstated, behind the Merit System. I like the OPTION to save merits to purchase a desired item, to no longer be reliant on market flippers.

What I don’t like is that the zest of doing Task Forces is gone. The excitement of a reward at the end is gone. Comparing and trading rewards with your teammates is gone. I think you have underestimated the importance of this.

    My experience:

I just don’t feel like doing Task Forces anymore, where I used to do 5 or 6 a week. Why bother? Where I had a chance at the end of each for something great (or maybe useful to my SG or vendor fodder) I now can save up box tops for the eventual day I can buy ONE enhancement. Just ONE. Or I can invest considerably more time than I used to have to in order to obtain a random roll that I have to visit a vendor to get, also not inspiring.

I also don’t like that 10 or so of the people I did Task Forces with regularly have quit the game. If I actually wanted to Task Force, most of the people I did so with on my main server Liberty are gone. The only suggestion I have for that is to have another Reactivation Weekend soon and hope some of them come back.

I haven't given up on this game, I still play, I still love my friends and family whom I play with here. I have played COH/V for 4 1/2 years and I very much disagree with the attitude that "people that leave are accounts you would have lost anyway". That is simply not true.

Look at my signature. It’s there for a reason. I bought a Lifetime Account on LOTRO a month ago. Issue 13 swept me off to Middle Earth. I play both games now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nailed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This!

Also, it's ridiculously skewed towards Heroes, ridiculously. Villains need some VILLAIN ONLY SFs, a couple of long ones. We need the equivalent of a Villain Posi and a Villain Dr Q (except, not boring).
  10. I actually have an angel character, who doesn't look, act, or behave like one, but the halo will be sweet on her!

Time. What a funny thing. In retrospect it seems like it was only just yesterday to recall my first posts on the forums. Yet, when I fill in everything that ensued over the last two years, a collage of details swims up at me: Issue 8, Veteran Rewards, lewtz!, Aliens, comics, Fanzines, flashbacks, player events, Trade shows, City Scoops, articles, all the awesome people at NCsoft I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and so much more. Yet through it all – it’s been you, the game’s community, which stands out to me the most. When I’m in game playing and see a new player getting advice in /help or a global channel, when I read threads on the forums or when I open e-mail or private messages, I’ve always been impressed at the quality and caliber of people that make up this game’s community.

However, this world we live in is not a static place. If anything, one certainty we have is the knowledge that things change. It is with this in mind that I write you today to say that I’m making a change. I have decided to pursue other opportunities outside of NCsoft.

Even having said this, I’m still excited to for the future of the City of Heroes franchise. Having been privy to some of the many plans that are in work, know that I will be right there beside you playing and enjoying the fruits of the Development Team and NCsoft’s hard work. I leave knowing that you are in good hands.

I want to wish you all the very best for everything the future holds in store.

Can you open IE and go to the Help menu item and then to the "About Internet Explorer" item from that drop down menu and list for us which version of IE you are browsing the website with?

i remember seeing some where that the day job badges were linked to costumes

    [/ QUOTE ]

Day job badges are NOT linked to costumes.

The day job related costumes are free, unlocked at the start, content in Issue 13.

And the 30 days is what we are initially going with. The values may change in beta.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I sure hope it does. No offense, but it's kind of absurd. That means for the badges you have LISTED, I have to log my main, my badge hunter, my favorite character out... for AT LEAST A YEAR.
