Quote:And there's the answer.Much of what I would like to comment on, I cannot for a variety of reasons. That means most of my posts are relegated to things I can comment on without stepping on the toes of marketing or potentially saying something that is incorrect.
I know there is some good info being released sooner, rather than later, but what it is and when, I can't say.
We do aim to please!
EDIT: REmoved line the showed I am an idiot who thought he was posting in a different thread.
Marketing is still evil.
And the Devs are still doing there thang.
Nuff said.
(In a good way) -
He makes a good point; Warwitch was the one behind the Faultine revamp, which does have some fairly unique maps in it, too.
I put faith in our 'Not-quite-dead' leader!

I rest my case.
On topic. You're right that a lot of people would be immensely annoyed by PvPvE.
Honestly? This is one of the things Im on the fence on when it comes to what might be in Praetoria. Theres also the problem of 'who is right'?
I wouldnt even risk betting 50p on an outcome.
(Thats probably 50cents for you yanks

Quote:Thats like saying 'Ignore the person who occasionally wanders by you and pokes you with splinters.'Theorizing about new features that excite us, and pining away for scraps of information is markedly different than stalking every thread to complain in it. You know who you are, you know exactly what we're talking about, and yet you still come in to deliberately complain.
"Doctor, it hurts when I do this. Doctor, it hurts when I do this. Doctor, it hurts when I do this. Doctor, it hurts when I do this."
So stop doing it.
P_P's been whining in every single GR related thread. I *like* thinking and speculating. Like discussing what they might do with DP.
Going 'Waaaaah no new info, we're being neglected!' is not theorising.

Quote:Because it's got to the same level as;Exactly! I don't know why people are getting so uptight about others posting GR questions. If they are getting tired of them, just don't click on the thread. It's that simple.
"Merge the servers!"
"Moving hair!"
"Fix PvP!"
"Fix ED!"
And suchnot.
No, complaining will not make it better. No, it will not magically make the information appear any faster. No, it will not defeat the Evil that is Marketing. -
Great. My post got eaten.
Whining doesnt magically make information appear. It just makes other people annoyed with you.
Indeed. Complaining is just that, complaining. Its what you are doing too. And it achieves nothing. -
Quote:This ^If they'd done that people would have spent the last six months or more having fits about the low amount of new content released in 2009.
(Well, alright, they did that anyway, but they'd have done it more if they hadn't known about GR.)
They're damned if they do, damned if they don't.
And, surprise, the complaining's effect on information coming out faster? Zilch. -
Quote:Likewise. I got my new rig when I got to UniI just got a brand spankin' new computer, couldn't afford it but my laptop died. So the game looks so much better now it's like a whole new experience. So while people sit here and chomp their bit over GR, I'm going to go play the game.

Game is the shiny now.
Heres to hoping the card I got can handle Ultra mode. I should think so. But its better than running on full Minimum *shudder* -
Quote:This is assuming that the level of damage turned into Fire/cold/toxic will be the exact same as the lethal damage. i.e. 100 -> 70/30Plus lethal is more resisted than the others, especially Fire/Cold. On the flipside, having two types of damage makes typed defense more useful against you, but I'm having trouble thinking of anything with high fire/cold defense that doesn't have equal or better lethal defense anyway. Actually, I'm struggling to think of anything with high typed defense, but not positional defense, in PvE at all.
The 70%/30% divide might (Note, might. This is speculation) be simply how they divide up the effects. See the speculatory explanation in the post above.
So, it could be 100 lethal damage becomes 70 lethal damage with 20 fire DoT. Or 70 lethal and 15 cold damage and slow effects. Etc. -
All 'Invasion Code' mobs are unbalanced for lowbies, cos they are balanced, IIRC, around level 30. This is why Rikti and particularly Zombies are real pains for anything not in the 20s+; because they hurt.
-
Beat up the techies to find a way to have glows thart are not hard-coded into costumes, then. Thats the issue with it, same as other NPC parts we dont have due to hard-coding.
It essentially makes them non-customisable, and thus a no-no.
For now. -
Quote:My assumption is that either Standard rounds have something like -def, OR they do more straight up damage, to make up for being S/LHere's the imbalance I see with the effects if someone chooses lethal only rounds:
Fire messes with oil slick
Cold effects with slows
Toxic effects ? (Puking would be fun)
But the lethal I think secondary effects should at least be -Def so they wouldn't be at a total loss, unless you have no choice but to replace lethal at some point with one of the other three. It's all a guess to me -
Quote:S/L roundsAfter hero con people were talking about the secondary effects of dual pistols, fire, toxic and S/L? or was it the third had no effect. But that's part of the problem, unless you went to Hero Con everything for the most part is hear say
Hmmm I think it was 4 types, S/L, Ice, Fire and Toxic (or Chem), which was strange to me seeing that S/L is resisted in the game more than the other types
Incendiaries
Cyro
Toxic
Its given that the standard rounds are 100%. Apparently the secondary types replace 30% of that damage with the effects.
That doesnt mean that, if an attack did 100 damage (to stop my head hurting with maths ><), it doesnt mean that it will be;
100 Lethal dam
70 lethal, 30 Fire AND effect
70 lethal, 30 Cold AND effect
70 letahl, 30 toxic AND effect.
That mean that, by simple dint of being standard, the basic rounds would get completely ignored.
What I would guess would happen is that 30% of the S/L w/e damage is removed entirely and replaced with SOME Fire/Cold/Toxic damage AND an effect. Effectively, whatever dalances out as 30% straight damage in combined different damage AND effect. That would make more sense, at least to me. -
Quote:I for one am interested in where you get your exact information from, as those statements seem very certain.Which is more than they had to give, but felt more like "here's something now stop whining".
-snip-
From what I recall people talking about after Hero Con, I especially want to know why there is an imbalance one of the three different secondary effects of dual pistols, and will it or can it be addressed before beta. -
Wrong, actually. Wolf Spider Assault's tend to pack a sub-machine gun, and they also use those guns as 'pistols' on other Wolf Spiders.

Quote:I got lucky in that the orangey skin tone was just the right colour, and it matched the ears when coloured too, so much so that she does actually look quite fox-coloured. My arguement IC was that, since she started off in-game as looking fully human, that her mutation kicked in a little bit more during a certain event, resulting in the fur and fox ears.Yeah, making decent anthropomorphic character is pretty difficult, insomuch as it's hard to make them NOT look like people in face paint and cosplay gear. I have two - a bunny girl and a panda girl - that I went a LONG way to make sure they looked the part. I'm not interested in cosplay characters, so I had to improvise with patterns, faces, proportions and specific costume pieces, and I think I did a good enough job. But it's hard. Really hard. And I don't think I'd be able to make another one, what with only one anthropomorphic face that doesn't look like a butt crack with fangs...
I dont think a full anthro head would work on her (unless it was *really* good), but I know it would certainly work on other characters I could make. -
Quote:Thing is, given the Frankenguns original look, I'd be inclined to think it's less of a shotgun and more 'Buckshot', as the name suggests. Possibly a canister loaded into the grenade launcher, and fired with an effect much like grapeshot in old cannons, which were great for mauling the hell out of multiple targets, but less good against single targets.Tweaking Buckshot to count as a single-target attack would single-handedly SAVE the set in my eyes. As it is right now, it has a lot of AoE, but between caps, resistances and the general lack of single-target, that's not a well-balanced set. Just a third single-target attack would help it a lot.
As well, most any game I've seen presents shotguns as VERY powerful, but only effective at close range. Almost no game I've seen represents them as a weapon useful for hitting multiple target, so much as a weapon useful for hitting a single target HARD. It'd too late in the game to suggest Buckshot be made into a single-target heavy hitter, and adding more damage to it would not happen, but at least lowering its endurance cost to that of a single-target attack of the same power would be GRRRATE!
If it was more an actual shotgun attachment, it woulda been called 'Shotgun' =P -

Meh, cashed out one hundred squidies (Approx £90-ish) for my Nvid 9800 gt, in the new rig. I'm pretty confident it can most of Ultra modes goodness as it is. I will be a tad miffed if it won't. But even then, I guess I'll be waiting for a gfx card price drop, because students aren't known for deep wallets.
