Solo = One character
Thats 1-20 in 3 hours by being power leveled by your own 50.
You can argue semantics as much as you like.
In normal content, there is no way to get to 1-20 in three hours...Not solo. -

No probs Bun

Well, if it's for both red and blue...
Blue:
City Defender award - (general all round do-gooding)
Shield award - (defending others with no thought for self)
Officers Recognition award - (Leadership skills and uniting the community)
Paragon of Fasion award - (Best dressed Hero or Heroine)
Heroic 'Most Wanted' - (The Hero or Heroine that the most people go crazy and drooling over
)
Red:
Arch Villain/ess award - (Generally being a nasty type)
Master/Mistress of Mayhem award - (Destruction and chaos on a large scale)
The Mastermind award - (Manipulating others to do your dirty work, before revealing how duped they were)
The Slick'n'Sharp award - (Best dressed Villain or Villainess)

Hmm...
Maybe have a few more 'serious' ones, like Medical awards, Rescuers and suchnot, along with a few more light-hearted ones like Gamey suggested?
*tries to get get brain in gear...needs more gears* -
Quote:Open to interpretation. There is at least one example of killing in the game, in Seer Marinio's arc, where the Huntsmen ends up getting topped, by the player no less.Might I note that you never kill anything. You defeat it and it either is taken away, or runs away.
Killing stuff would change the game and how its viewed. Saved Civis, that'll work.
But killing?
/unsigned
I wouldn't say anything as plainly abrrasive as giving a badge for it. But it'd be nice for citizens in Mayhem missions to be 'defeated' (wether thats caught in the crossfire or simply hitting the deck and staying in a cowering heap is up to you) -
Quote:Note the 'level prices across the board'. I.e. make them affordable, and not so daftly priced as they are now, requiring sold IO recipe drops or a level 50 inf dump to fully slot when you hit 22 (YMMV, I've *always* run into a problem, and Im pretty damn sure Im not playing the game 'wrong')In other words, making it impossible for low level characters to get enhancements. No, thank you. Even if you don't use Training and Dual Origin enhancements, I do and would not appreciate having them vanish from the game and be replaced with 15 000 inf a pop enhancements. Besides, enhancements of increasing strength are one of the ways out power increases, and I'd rather keep them as they are.
That'd be fine. If the recharge on Rest wasnt so damn stupidly long. Given its a level 2 power, you'd think they were trying to discourage you from using it. Being one-shottable while using it is fine. Having to wait for it to come back up when you need it most? Not fun.Quote:Infinite endurance is exactly what people are asking for, even if they're not saying it in these exact words. The fact that you run out of endurance is how the game is supposed to play. Endurance management is supposed to be a meaningful part of the game, and Rest is meant to be used. The way some people talk, you'd think having to stand still for 10 seconds or hit rest is tantamount to a blood insult. -
Fair point.
In that case, it'll be a wait to see whatever alternate animations we get for Sword and Dual Blades, and what new models occur. -

Quote:Slightly off topic, but;People keep asking for more challenge, smarter AI, more complicated missions and so forth, but...
I'd just like my pets to recognise a railing when they have to jump over it. Or, when I hit 'Follow' for them to ACTUALLY stop and follow me...NOT keep on hitting the mob I dont want them to hit >_<
Cheap AI: Bad
Non-retarded pet AI: Good -
Hmm...my take on it.
Fencing
Lethal Damage, Default Range 10'
Tier 1: -Cut: Melee, Moderate Damage
Tier 2: -Thrust: Melee, High damage
Tier 3: -Crippling Strike: Melee, Minor damage, Mag 3 Immobilise
Tier 4: -Riposte: Melee, Minor damage, +To Hit, +Damage
Tier 5: -Parry: Melee, Minor damage, +Def Melee, Smashing, Lethal,
Tier 6: -Feint: Ranged, Foe Taunt
Tier 7: -Sweep Cut: Melee, Moderate damage, cone (90), range 15
Tier 8: -Lunge: Melee, Superior Damage, DoT, Range 12
Tier 9: -Fleche: Ranged, Extreme Damage, High Acc, Range 50, AoE Knockdown
The defences of the original were all over the place. Energy and Negative def? From a sword? Really?
This was thought up to bring it a bit more in-line with balance and the other sets (you had 8 powers, not 9, for one thing) and to make it a bit more like actual fencing.
The Fleche (Flay-sh), in case you are wondering, is an all out, all or nothing charge, where the goal is get right up in your opponents face so that they struggle to defend themselves. Hence the high acc. The knockdown, well, it's either that or repel. Maybe fear? Who's going to get in the way of a madly charging swordsman?
I also added in a Cone, because a set with NO AoE will get slated. Its that simple. MA get slated repeatedly by people for 'doing only Smashing damage and having poor AoE' This way the set has some nice pro points, as well as being a bit different to some of the others. -
The civies in bank missions do, thankfully, all peg it for the door.
I actually concur with civilians on the street though. I'M the god damn Hero. You get out of MY way!

Hmm, I wondered that too. I kinda forgot about it until now, but I agree. It was fun to use, and I for one would like it back.

Quote:I'd prefer it if we simply had vanilla IOs made the standard, instead of the other Os.I see it the same way, but take it a step farther. SOs (just as TOs and DOs) just aren't worth it since they expire in a few levels. I go straight for the regular IOs when my characters get to level 22 (because pre-level 25 IOs are just too weak). It's a bit more expensive for sure, but worth it in the long run.
They give less of a bonus at level 10 than at 15, than at 20, etc etc. But they dont run out. So, you can upgrade if you want. Or leave it, but still not be un-slotted.
I'm waiting for people to wail 'DOs and SOs are cheap, its not hard to slot them.'
Well, sorry. We obviously have different playstyles. Because, until the 40s, I've never found it easy to keep DO/SOs in the green without getting lucky drops or inf transfers. Last time I checked, the game was meant to be balanced around SOs, not IO drops. -
Quote:I dunno...Epees are actually the most viscious of the three.I had a friend that was into fencing. He pulled out one of these:

I pulled out one of these:
I said "I'd say we got different ideas of Fencing."
((Yes, it was a joke, but most twenty-somethings have never seen Fencing Pliers, and there was never any worry of him actually stabbing me with the sword.))
They hurt, and the target area? Anywhere

Quote:TOs and DOs really arent worth what you pay for them, though. At TO levels, you do level fast enough that its only really worth slotting drops. DOs cost is so much so that, unless you have a few recipes to sell, a level 50 to dump cash from, or shear good luck, by the time you've got to the point you can slot a character with level 15 DOs, they are now level 16.Don't you think this...
...has something to do with the underperformance you see in the low levels?
Not slotting TOs I can understand (if not agree with, I still slot them from 7 onward), but if you're not slotting DOs either then it's no wonder you're suffering from lack of End and Acc. Sure they're not as good as IOs, but they make a difference.
If the game is balanced around SOs (afaik, thats the case) then why not make them the only enhancements? The ammount of descrepancy between the different xOs feels like some huge leftover from the reign of Jack. -

I may have to take a hand at the March one (even though I'm not in the long haul comeptition), when my Uni schedule isnt so choking.
Looking great, Bind. -
Quote:A very OTT one.i was thinking more along the lines of the rapier that richie(stan kirsh) used in the highlander series after he became immortal. it was a thick, well not so much thick as it was wider, bladed rapier. and if you get the valkerie pack, you get a saber style sword in broad sword.

This;

is what I'm talking about. Or this;

Quote:hero side the low levels are a tremendous waste of time and do the game no favors. It is a parade of ancient, pointless content that reflects the mindset and technology in play at launch, not the current reality.
Villian side is technically & philosophically much better, but suffers badly from a lack of diversity. No matter how engaging the storyline, you can only jump down that snake hole so many times before your eyes start to cross.
That said, modern innovations have done wonders to ease the burden of the lower levels, especially for longtime players. Vet powers, bank temp travel powers, MA, low level acc buff, exp smoothing, all go a long way to help reduce the tedium of the low levels.
But if GR delivers a rich, detailed 'lowbie' gaming experience, it will be doing us and the game a huge favor.

Well said -

Quote:Just get rid of TO and DO entirely, and level the prices across the field. The current enhancement system as it stands now really doesn't make that much sense.Hmmm......
Chance Endurance enhancements from the current schedule they are on, and have all of them (TO/DO/SO) do the same that Endurance SOs do now?

Quote:Dual blades is not even close to how a real rapier works.well, if you want a rapier, then use dual blades. use a rapier in one hand and a main droite in the other. or get the ninja pack and use the chinese jian in the broad sword set. other than that, i would just ask if they could put a rapier style sword ( although it would be a thicker blade ) in broadsword.
A Sabre MIGHT looks ok in the broadsword set, because thats a bit more slash and hack than the other two weapons (foil and epee) but it's still a slightly botched job.
