  1. As a Empath/Psi I can say that a Nuke that does an sort of Mez is great to have. Even if your team is doing great (like one two nights back. Two bubble fenders and three blasters, we were slaughtering ) it's nice to run in an stun the heck outta the whole mob in one go, doing some decent damage too. Your team will tear up the left overs.
  2. Hokai, so, here's the build so far. It looks like anything that got hit with that would be in...shall we say...ashes?

  3. There were a few less 'personal' stands at the Capecon, as there had been for some years now. Longbow and Hero Corps tended to have small but proffesional stands, to spread the good word and jazz like that. And, this year, the last of the 'Big Three' was there; Vanguard.

Although it was almost a personal stand this time around, for one reason; the Vanguard representatives were the SABRE team.
Chief Centurion Z1, Kitsune Vixen, Z22 Pyre Fox and X21 Ice Wolf; four individuals that were near the top of the Rikti 'Most Feared' list. That and multiple other groups around the City and Rogue Isles. There was, however, more to the Vanguard stand then just representing.

    "You think he'll be ok?"
Fox had been stood by the front of the stand, arms casually folded and scanning the hall, checking out the other stands (and occasionally zooming his HuD in when he caught sight of the occasional cute female), but he turned as a hand touched his shoulder.
Vix had decided against wearing her full armour, instead dressing in the baggy combat fatigues that she wore around the base. Black knee length boots, grey camo trousers and jacket, and a black t-shirt underneath, as she had left the jacket unzipped.

"I mean, we practically had to drag him here as it was," she went on, glancing back to the back of the stand, where Wolf was leaning against the side in silence. He had come back to Vanguard Base just as the rest of the team were about to go looking for him, and Colonel Lyndon had point blank ordered him to go with the others. Wolf had looked like refusing, until Chief literally picked him up by his collar, marched him out and slung him through the Portal back to Paragon.

"He'll be ok," Fox murmured, patting her gently on the shoulder. "He just needs to loosen up a bit, is all. Get him outta the warzone, let him geek out a bit. See if theres any tech-heads he can argue with about computer systems and stuff. You don't forget that kind of thing," he added with a chuckle.
Another hand rested on Vix's shoulder, although this one was about half the size again of Fox's. She looked up into the sky blue visor of the Chief.
"Don't worry. We got him out, and thats a start," he said, quietly but kindly. "Let's all have a bit of a break, hmm?"
Vix nodded, smiling faintly as she looked around the rest of the con. She had to admit, it'd be nice to remember she was twenty again, and geek out a bit at some of the Heroes she had admired when she was younger.
  4. Nice work Sam.
My only nit-pick is it should be 'New Venice' technically
Other than that, looks good. And does to show that any Rikti Monkey can run up some new load screens.
    ...
    Get marketting to do it.

    but,
On the topic of "More Content":
I often cringe when that cry comes up.
The thing is, MOST people will only accept . . . MORE ZONES, to satisfy themselves that there is more content.
More places for people to be.
(I don't claim to know if P_P and hubby mean 'more zones' when they say 'more content'. )
We do know we will get some of that in GR..

The problem with More Zones is . . . The more places you add for people to be....
...The fewer the people that are in any of those places at any given time.

If, over time, we add 6 or 7 more zones to redside,
We cut in half the average number of people in each zone.

You think we have a lot of people whining about "There is nobody on!!!" and "CoX is becoming a ghost town!!!" now?

Hide and watch after several more zones get added!
More zones is not the thing to make more people love the game.
Zone redesign maybe. More zones just thins us further.
    .
    Amen!

But there is lots of great stuff added that I am looking forward to that should more than make up for that.
    And this is where seem incapable of understanding;

Epic AT does NOT mean 'Super' AT. Epic literally means 'tied into canon story with a unique storyline of their own.' Its not a 'zomfgwinzz0r' AT. Yes, large teams of all Khelds or all VEATs are somewhat badass. Ever been on a team with 8 Rad/Rad corrs? Thats pretty damn epic. Or more than 3 Masterminds? Mobs go boom, all fall down.

They should slap that up in really big letters somewhere...or make a fore-head stamp. Until people learn to read...

  14. I guess no one plays Human only Warshades then..?
  15. Is there anything I should really aim for/avoid? I'm going to give WS's another go (I've given up on PBs) and would like to try and 'do it right' this time. As in not fail hard

    So far this is what I've got for a 'lvl 50' build;

    I. Hate. Bugs and Glitches.
It grates on every single artistic relay in my chassis. Like the square rocks in the snake caves that havent been fixed in ages. Little things like that.

And I've played the game for around three years, some of it on blueside. I think Im immune to repitition by now

    I chuckled
Then again, our 'feline' face is still quite monstrous/evil looking.
  20. Techbot Alpha

    PB forms

It depends on your playstyle. Triforms are quite adaptable, and can do very well. They also have the added bonus of a mez shield.
Some people play twin-forms, while others go for pure human form. A friend of mine recently got his PB to SO level with just human form, and was cackling over the SG channel like a...well, like an exploding thingy made of pure light and energy and whoopass
  21. Techbot Alpha

    Oh my gosh... XD

I would LOVE more ambient music like that in game! Made me think of something you could use in one of the tech labs that Crey use so often...
    So. Much. Win

Seriously, I know we've strayed far from the original topic, but there's one thing we have to keep in mind in terms of where this discussion is taking us - almost any genre and filed of artwork, regardless of how many people may "hate" it, has the potential for greatness when given to a good artist.

For my money, I trust BABs, Jay and their minions to be good artists and bring this specific, seemingly minor addition into the game with flying colours and much inspiration, not just as one more amazing piece of the costume creator, but as a symbol that, no matter how odd or minor our desires may be, someone's listening, taking notes and trying to do a good job. BABs in particular has taken a lot of heat for refusing to do things that don't look good, but that's kind of what makes the game so great, in my opinion - everything we get is not just "there," it's good and worth the wait.

That, in fact, is why I'm still sticking with City of Heroes despite trying Champions Online. They may (or may not) have more variety of pieces, but their artists just aren't up to the task. Despite the game's (supposedly) superior graphics, their artists dropped the ball, and so the great graphics are left not amounting to much. Cel shaders and ambient occlusion do not good visuals make, not on their own, at the very least. You need talented artists to make use of this more complicated tool kit. I thing City of Heroes is one of the relatively few games that do.
*Grumblegrumble awesome grumblegrumble not fair grumble*

But yeah. In my opinion CoX graphics and style > Champions graphics and style. Im sure others have a different opinion, and thats more'n fair.
But the great looks really are a cornerstone part of why I love this game.

That said, I've always wanted to see a two-handed version of Broadsword, Battle Axe and War Mace. Well, Broadsword, anyway. Axe and Mace options aren't big (rather, long) enough to be two-handed, as the hand tends to travel on the hilt with them, and there isn't enough hilt for that. With swords, by comparison, the hands remain on the hilt at all times, as there really isn't too much room for them to travel anyway.

Since we're highly unlikely to get a two-handed axe or mace set, I've always thought that the next best thing would be for us to get a two-handed HAMMER set. It could work kind of like Super Strength, with a Ground Slam power right at the end
Thats why I didnt list sword The sword animations work pretty well on the most part. But axe and mace are basically sword clones with a different weapon, which is annoying.

Also, your wrong about the wolf spiders using katana animations. They have a two-handed swing to the side, the 'pummel' attack that is basically brawl, which does look like the katana version, and another big swing attack. I think the principal is the same. But they aint identical.
  24. Buff Energy melee.
Theres a reason I gutted my Invul/EM and made him Invul/Elec.

Thats about all I could fault with Tankers at the moment. That and Stone Armour as a whole, but thats something I know will need a lot of work (Castle himself said that Stone was 31 levels of fail for 19 levels of win, which he didnt like, but also was going to have nightmares fixing.)
