  1. Hey, can we get a link to the results of the last ones? I can't offhand remember the winners/runners up, and I'd also like to see whether I entered one particular character last year or not. I think I did.
  2. The Jingle Cats albums were recorded - very clearly - when the cats were asking to be fed. I've had that inspire my kitties too.
  3. My first 50 and long-time main Retail Retali8r would - because she's from another universe where they lost the war and the efforts to stop the mothership wound up having it land *on Paragon* instead of in the hills nearby. Imagine the entirety of Talos being covered by it, and the flooding - not to mention the damage done to the underground Oranbega? Those things would definitely provoke her to help do things differently.
  4. My first 50 was my emp/dark defender Retail Retali8r (seen in my avatar usually). I've even had other emp defenders stand around watching how I solo - I had to abandon her briefly before the Elite Boss code was in place, but once that was there I could grab one person and hit all those higher level Supervillains without just dying constantly. At this point, I know I couldn't do that again - I have no clue how I did it back when. This was how I usually wound up lol. She took over 19 months of existance and probably 16 of that was play time, to level to 50.

My second 50 is my current still-favorite, ice/kin troller. No pets as I can't stand Jack Frost's behavior. Winter's True Spirit was created on test waaaaay back, when they did a level boost to 40 to test out Recluse's Victory. I went around and did all the cape/power missions, instead lol. So I had a good idea of what I wanted out of an ice/kin since I'd never played one before. Right now she's absolutely tricked out on IO sets for holds and slows - I can hold the Flyer in the STF with her.

My third was my first melee character that I was serious about. I knew I liked ranged and I knew I liked self-sufficient characters, and I was SO bad at playing scrappers on other servers, so I chose a fire/fire tank. Trickster's Jackalope is a lot of fun, he made it possible to play melee and still not die a lot and learn through the process. I gave superspeed a chance for about 20-24 odd levels and hated it, so dropped it for leaping, and have loved him ever since.

Right now I'm working on a scrapper, dual-blades/willpower, she's 45, and a psy/mind blaster who is in the high 30s. Those will be my next 50s, they're both quite fun to play.
  5. I'm suspecting that "looking out windows" and "looking at electronics" might also be indicative of sleep - obviously I don't know at what rate these photos appeared (every 15 minutes, but how many of the photos were 'still at window' versus 'now it's moved'). I know from living at home and being here pretty much all day that my cats DO spend about 40% of their time asleep curled up somewhere, either on my bed or on the floor/couch.

As for interactive noises and activities, I've never noticed my cat trying to "lick himself clean from the stench of me". I know that they do 'possess' me with rubs, but almost all my cats prefer to be scratched in places where I know they itch, and you can't tell me that a cat who paws at you for more dragging your hand back to them is just in it for the possession points

I just wish my mom would have ever learned her / our cats behaviors. She doesn't even really understand that her cat's stone deaf now, and didn't answer her when she was hearing anyway - if the cat wants to be in the sunshine on the porch? The cat's got legs. She'll move... but try telling that to my mom...

  7. "Cite your sources" and "credit where it's due".

Aside from that... well, I don't swipe from artists. I use plenty of stock art found on deviantart, because *that's what it's there for*. I have my own stock account there, and I *love* seeing what people do with my photos. I've seen everything from charcoal sketches to full on manips where you can't even tell quite what part was used from my stock, as well as basic recolors and lineart. I've got no problem with any of those. If I did, I wouldn't have put the photos up as stock.
  8. Hehehehe. Needs more chin slider!

Yeah no kidding. I think she's got some other pictures of him in her DA gallery, but I haven't been back to check in quite some time. He's the kind of guy you just can look at *forever*.

    HAHAHAHAH owch lol.
  11. Nah Wolfie I think the point is, that most of us would far rather teamwipe ad infinitum with friends here on Protector, than deal with the same crap on another server where you know you're alone.
  12. .... I just saw some girls talking about this on the Pony Island forum. ... that's right, Badge must be a young teenage girl who loves My Little Ponies

I never watched the show but for maybe a couple moments years ago. It sounded like a fun show but I just don't sit down and watch tv any more.
  13. Not too many of my female characters have real-world counterparts except for Retail Retali8r who is me, but at one point a certain character that I have in many, many genres and games (where ever I can put him he's there) ... Sanger is an olive-skinned, black haired and blue-eyed guy with a strong nose and jawline, and long hair...
Friend of mine rendered this on Poser,

This is one of my favorite drawings of him,

How he translates into COH / COV -

And then Crampthatbites posted this gorgeous guy on DA.

    He's got the perfect face.

Then.... I happened upon this dude, who could literally BE my character - he's the same age give or take a couple years (early 60s believe it or not) and has exactly the right muscle tone and bearing... yum.
  14. OMG lol that's probably the most ... hilariously obscene outfit I've ever seen...
  15. You know what I discovered though? Before he left for Image and got such a darn swelled head, when he had been working for DC under good stern editorial watch - he was okay. Not amazing, not great, but better than adequate.

Take away the editor and deadline and (oh yeah) the writer and the rest of the bunch that keeps everyone else in check... and you get exactly those things in the first post. Highly flawed, from start to finish.
  16. Actually the flipping thing does work. It works really well.

Works much, much better in traditional format though, digital I dunno so much.
  17. Nothing whatsoever is a crutch when it comes to art. Do you think that Michelangelo didn't use guides? Who's Chris lol unless you mean Rob?

Many artists just have a feel for their work, enough so that they don't need to use too many sketches before they finish the lines. However if you presented them with a different subject or character idea, they would likely go right back to using them.

The best artists do. The worst, usually don't know how.

    Edit:

Let me give you an example from my own stuff.

All three of these were drawn using basic shapes, but the one in the middle, you'll notice that her cheetah body has no sketching whatsoever. I even surprised myself with that These lines give the artist the idea of what the outline will wind up being, and be able to catch obvious mistakes before they're really a problem.
  18. AAaaaayup. It's times like that I just switch to another contact.
  19. Can't post links because most of his work's NSFW, but Tim Vigil also has a tremendous talent for both male and female forms. A bit hairy, lol, but the characters in Gothic Nights were just astounding. (it's an adult only book, be warned if you search for it.)

And there's something wrong with that, how?

I'm also going to bring up an odd choice, but one which maybe will spark interest in her stuff (given that she IS an eisner winner and all), Carla Speed McNeil. The author of Finder, and collaborator on several interesting projects otherwise here and there.

Also, for *beautiful* as well as manly men, Colleen Doran. She's worked with major DC and indie authors as well as having her own projects. I've got a page from Distant Soil which is yummeh, everything she draws is just beautiful.
  21. I'd go with Jim Lee. His Magneto in the first 3 issues of the then-new Xmen were... DROOL worthy.
  22. Heheheh I thought myself, "CATFIGHT!" when I read that too

  24. Oooh you guys have your own paper printed? Or is that just a photoshop overlay?
