The Third Annual Mr. and Ms. Paragon City/Rogue Isles Costume Contest!


Each server will be represented by a Hero, Heroine, Villain, and Villainess, who will have a chance to become the City of Heroes Mr. and Ms. Paragon City and City of Villains Mr. and Ms. Rogue Isles!



Contest Categories:
  • Mr. Paragon City (Male Hero)
  • Ms. Paragon City (Female Hero)
  • Mr. Rogue Isles (Male Villain)
  • Ms. Rogue Isles (Female Villain)


Contest Dates

The contest dates are as follows for individual servers. All contest times are 9:00 pm - 12:00 am EST.
  • 12/11/09 (Friday) Liberty & Pinnacle
  • 12/12/09 (Saturday) Justice & Victory
  • 12/13/09 (Sunday) Virtue
  • 12/18/09 (Friday) Guardian & Protector
  • 12/19/09 (Saturday) Infinity & Champion
  • 12/20/09 (Sunday) Freedom & Triumph
  • 01/08/10 (Friday) Test Server – Finals Judging
*Note: If you make the finals you must attend this date for the final judging or be disqualified



Judging Times

The following are the specific times for faction and gender. Your character must be in Pocket D for judging. The times are the same for all servers.
  • 9:00pm EST - 9:45 pm EST -- Male Heroes
  • 9:45pm EST - 10:30 pm EST -- Female Heroes
  • 10:30pm EST - 11:15 pm EST -- Male Villains
  • 11:15pm EST - 12:00 am EST -- Female Villains



Prizes

All server winners will receive gold titles that will last for 6 months.

The four grand prize winners will receive in-game gold titles that will last for 1 year and their choice of 1 costume code per overall winner from the codes listed below.
  • PPD Hardsuit
  • Freakshow Tank Boss
  • Carnie Harlequin
  • Knives of Artemis
  • Carnie Ring Mistress
  • Praetorian Clockwork




Contest Rules

Note: Judges for individual server events will not be representatives of that server.
  • Any Hero or Villain may enter.
  • No member of PERC may enter.
  • The winners of the finals will be representatives of their respective games and should personify that game.
  • Huge body type heroes/villains will be determined to be male. Monster heroes/villains will be determined male or female by body type, and/or name and biography if necessary.
  • Judging for the contest will be scored for costume and creativity. The final contests will be based both on costume design and on a short series of interview questions. Interview answers will be judged in the finals only. Costume scores will be formulated the same way in both individual server contests and finals.
  • Judges have the right in the event of a tie to refer to character biographies and how they apply to the character concept.
  • Interview answers will be judged in the finals only. Interview questions will be available to answer online after the last server competition judging is complete. A link to that site will be made available to our finalists at that time. If you do not complete the questions you will not be allowed to participate in the finals.
  • Character screenshots of the finalists must also be submitted by January 1st, 2010 by 12:00am (midnight) EST. This is to ensure that in the unlikely event that one of the judges is unable to make it to the finals judging, the finals will still continue as scheduled.

I heard some chatter about this last year - should interview questions be answered IN CHARACTER? or AS THE PLAYER? Just wanted a little clarification. Thanks!

Interview question can be answered as you choose. Most players answer in character, but some answer as themselves. If you are chosen to move on, please feel free to answer as you feel most comfortable.

Ok Folks, We Are Upping The Ante!!

New prizes have been graciously added by Paragon Studios! Each server winner (4 winners per server) will receive the costume code of his or her choice from the list above. Each winner who is crowned Mr. or Ms. Paragon City or Rogue Isles will win 2 costume codes and a Hero Con exclusive Fifth Anniversary City of Heroes T-shirt (in addition to the code from winning the server).


Final Prize Tally

Server Winners- Six month title of Mr. or Ms. Paragon City or Rogue Isles Protector and one costume code of choice.

Final Winners- One year title of Mr. or Ms. Paragon City or Rogue Isles and three total costume codes of choice and the Hero Con exclusive Fifth Anniversary City of Heroes T-shirt.

I think it should be outside of game in the office.

I am befuddled...
If I could enter a character for each category, I would enter some dudes, but since we have to pick 1 per global, I had to go with who I thought looked better, and they happen to be females on both my accounts.

Hey, can we get a link to the results of the last ones? I can't offhand remember the winners/runners up, and I'd also like to see whether I entered one particular character last year or not. I think I did.

Oh hey, excuse the double post.

If I send a screenshot can we *please* have them larger than 100k this year? Seriously - my screen resolution is 1680x1050, I can't even TAKE screenshots less than 300k. Losing the detail in a low-quality jpg, or shrinking the image size loses way too much.

Can we not just link TO screenshots if we have them online? I've got plenty of mine, and photobucket is hardly difficult to link to. At this point I'd say that the era of small-k-sized screenshots is way, way over.
