  1. I remember when I got the beta email, but had missed the end of the beta testing hours for the week and had to stew for days waiting for it to come back on. I remember getting up early just so I could play the game the minute it was open for the week's testing.

I remember blowing what seemed like an eternity just trying to full grasp the number of options in the costume creator.

I remember having a joygasm the first time I blasted a glowing eyed punk with my energy blasts.
  2. I'd imagine that they're simple length, width and height sliders.

EDIT: Oops, -now- I see it.
  3. Atlas Park/Galaxy City Icon Mission: Wax 20 Skulls/Hellions.

I don't see why everybody else should be denied an option just to protect the stupid. If somebody wants to blow their pittance on fashion then let them.

If the developers don't want people going to Icons until evel 20 then they need to level lock the place because as of now, it's nothing a quick jog or teleport friend can't overcome. If they don't, then put the stupid store somewhere lowbies can easily get to. Just saying.
  4. Another week without Issue 4 eh? Wonderful.

I'm glad people are coming around to the new costumes, instead of freaking out over one five letter word.

EDIT: Oh, and the devs should just give it up and put an Icon in Galaxy City or Atlas Park already. All they're doing is making it a hassle for lowbies to get there. If they want to keep lowbies from updating their costumes then they only way they'll achieve it is by level locking the place.

DOUBLE EDIT: The Issue 4 pre download is on the test server. I guess I'll gladly put my foot in my mouth....but only halfway.
  5. There needs to be a way to either turn those HOs off or keep people with HOs out of matches whose creator doesn't want them.

And there sure as hell needs to be more ways to get them than fighting the same stupid blob over and over. Boredom and work shouldn't be rites of passage in something made for entertainment.
  6. There should be a way to ban people from PvP matches based on their level and what enhancements they have. That way people without the Hamidon enhancements never have to deal with those with them.
  7. [ QUOTE ]

As far as I can see, this taps right into the whole 'making an INFORMED decision' aspect of CoH which rocks so very hard - case in point, the boss changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except when you're fighting the Council. "Oh look, that lieutentant just turned into a Warwolf boss! Oh look ,there goes my head rolling along the floor. Good job, devs!"
  8. Pfft. So basically if you want to matter post level 45, you have to go fight Hammidon.

I'm glad I'm level 38. I can at least have 7 levels of PvP fun.
  9. The worst thing about the Hess TF is that it pretty much embodies what a TF -should- be, instead of the 6 hour same old mission marathons the game has now.
  10. Those who thought that the developers wouldn't eventually do something about this particular mission were simply in denial. They don't want players finishing the game fast, and they'll do what they can in the future to stop any fast tracks to 50.

With that said, it may be repetitive as all hell to farm the same wolves and farm the same hatched krakens all the time but what's the alternative? Running around the city to clear out the same office, lab, cave, warehouse etc that the player has most likely seen countless times, in the small hope that one mission won't just be a normal warehouse, but a warehouse with a new coat of paint?

It doesn't sound that much better to me.
  11. Test on the week of the 28th, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Live on the week of March the 24th.

    Observer Mode

    [ QUOTE ]
Aw, they're destroyable? Why not give us an option to make an invisible (thus non-distracting) version that can't be targetted, and just disable chat while in that mode?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Teamspeak.

But I do think there should be a match option for phase shifted cameras.
  13. Three things.

    - A listing of supergroups in City Hall, for players to research and learn about without having to go onto a supergroup's website.

    - The ability for a Supergroup to possess a supergroup vehicle, like the Blackbird, the Javelin or a teleportation chamber. It would work like a mission door, transporting players to missions unreachable by normal means. Like an island that you have to fly the superplane out to.

    - The ability for supergroups to buy out some of the billboards in the city and use them as advertising.

    Quick update...

    [ QUOTE ]
...Let's see Counterstrike compete with THAT!

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't need to. See, in Counterstrike, you can be challenged without having the controls flat out taken out of your hands.

Just another reason why in PvP, MMOs will always be inferior compared to a good FPS or Fighting game.

    Quick update...

Picking out the quotes that are important to me:

    [ QUOTE ]
In the free downloadable update "Issue #4: The Arena",

    [/ QUOTE ]

I liked "Colisseum" better. Oh well.

    [ QUOTE ]
Combatants will be able to face off against mano-a-mano or in super-teams of up to eight heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good to know that one on one will be possible.

    [ QUOTE ]
Battle zones will be instanced for the participants,

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess that means there won't be a spectator mode.

    [ QUOTE ]
and will be set up to replicate familiar environments such as city ruins and Atlas Park.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Excellent. I was afraid we'd only get one map to fight on.

    [ QUOTE ]
Another astonishing revelation: The arena will also house themed conflicts that incorporate mission objectives and even bestow temporary powers onto those bold enough to enter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Capture the flag? Last man standing? Kill competitions?

    [ QUOTE ]
Even the most seemingly mundane powers will be useful in PvP battle. For example, Statesman tells us that "taunting" another hero will force them to attack you... even against their will. Likewise, an opponent who becomes "confused" by a Controller-class hero will be unable to tell friend from foe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Lame.

    [ QUOTE ]
The "Issue #4" update will also introduce amazing "body scaling" technology to Paragon City's protectors, allowing them to tweak the size of waists, arms, and cheekbones... among other body parts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Excellent. Here I was just expecting to be able to adjust the muscle and height slider.

    [ QUOTE ]
And direct from NCsoft's arists in Korea comes new costume-design elements inspired by anime and manga.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Excellent. I just hope that their art style doesn't clash with the art design from Cryptic.

    [ QUOTE ]
But what about the rumored crafting and skill system? "I was so terrified that we'd produce something that wouldn't be right," says Statesman about the delay. "We designed a whole system and it just didn't cut the mustard. So it's my fault."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could this mean a total ground up redesign?

    [ QUOTE ]
In happier news, Statesman is gazing towards City of Heroes' first anniversary this April. Though details are shrouded in secrecy, Paragon City's first superhero promises a huge celebration and special events to mark the occasion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yay.

    Oh, and Youko: You rock.
  16. It's "Real post 50 content." That's my guess.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    I think its funny

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Aren't you easily amused?

    [ QUOTE ]
someone would cancel their account because a feature was pushed back another month or two.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Three months on top of the two-three it will take for Issue 4 to be released? It'll probably be July by the time Issue 5 comes out. That's $75 dollars in subscription money that could be taken somewhere besides a game that isn't being entertaining.

    [ QUOTE ]
I say, go ahead and cancel it, less lag on the servers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've already proven how much you care about other people, no need to drive the point home.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

None of the previous issues have offered one big new feature, why would we think that would be the case with I4?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me correct myself then. I hope that Arenas aren't the only thing in Issue 4 that matters.
  19. Well, a lot of my interest in Issue 4 just died.

I hope that arenas aren't all Issue 4 has to offer.
  20. Well I for one and sick of being lead around by the hand all the time by contacts. It makes heroes nothing more than hired muscle.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Which you could have EASILY accomlished by allowed just that: dropping a mish if you don't like it or it's too hard and you don't have time. Rolling back the Boss changes is exactly caving into whiners.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You will be able to "roll back" boss roll-back by selecting a higher mission difficulty level for your characters.

    EASILY accomplished.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bingo.
  22. You know what?

    I quit.

I am just so absolutely sick of this garbage that I have to deal with in this game! What the hell is wrong with you people!?

I mean, I complain about something....other people complain about something and what do you do? You.....listen!? What?! You actually consider what the people here have to say?! What kind of an establishment are you running here!?

I'm sick of this service, developers. I'm just sick of it. I'm going back to Star Wars Galaxies. At least there, I know that I can be ignored and marginalized in peace.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I really think that the major difference (aside from explanation of powers, etc.) is the feel of it. Think of a completely art deco Paragon City

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno about that other stuff but.....isn't that exactly what we have now? (To my annoyance. I wish there were more modern and post modern designs.)
