  1. Yes my fire scrapper has something like 71.2% res to fire in RV.... and For taunt the -range is auto hit but the actual taunt needs a tohit check. Its cool either way either they get the debuff or the get the debuff and you messed up their targeting.
  2. Scrappers do "well" in PvP. They are good starter ATs. Just dont be one of "those" guys that just spam Lazer beam eyes and nem staff.

    Primarys that do well are Broad Sword, Spine, and Fire.

    Armors that do well are Regain, Fire, and SR trailing behind.

    The most common power combos people use are BS/Regen or Spines/Regen. Regen is a hard cookie to crack. With tough or phase even more so. Spines has impale that goes well with lazer beam eyes and can immoble a squishy so you can get into melee range easyer.

    BS has more burst melee damage than spines just lacks the ranged power. But headsplitter crits are just NASTY. disembowel is no slouch either.

    Fire melee is a weird set. Greater Fire Sword hits like a truck and the other powers do alot of damage but a good portion comes in dot dot dot. You wont see the big orange numbers you get from BS but in the end it edges out BS and Spines in total burst damage.

    Fire armor offers really solid resists and a solid self heal. Along with a 2nd +Damage power. WIth tough your resists become fairly impressive. It just has no KB protection so you need to slot for it and take acro. I personaly like fire more. It is less easy mode than regen and has more damage potential.
  3. No not FA...... really man. Trust me. Try it out. And give it more than one or two chances. People do well with sonic/therms. And leviathan is for the more solo play. And Soul would be more for teams.
  4. For /Psy its a toss up. You need PBU for +damage +tohit. And it helps the -def toggle and heal from rad. It boils down to play style. I have a Cold/Psy and i started out with power mastery and went psy and it just feels better. I almost never solo PvP so this could be a big factor too. I'll be honest I have had a rad/psy for a long time and never have taken him out so i cant speak too much on the subject.
  5. You will do fine. This is why tough is worthless. Just go with tactics and hibernate and Amplify+Melt Armor+Heat Exhaustion then your attack chain.

    The SS/SJ combo is useful to kite the scrappers and tanks to stay out of melee range to give you more time to get off your attack chain. But its more about staying alive while HE does its job.
  6. Yes because RV in virtue is so much different than the almighty fredumb. (Where people would post on the forums when they killed a LoL Dm/Regain. and back in the day a single emp/blaster duo could take over the zone. Let me tell you how impressed that makes me of freedom zone PvP)

    I agree that fenders did get the short end of the stick with the changes to debuffs. Corr colds feel so much better. Colds are still useful and do well with all the -def -res -recharge they can throw out. Fender damage feels so lackluster compared to their corr counterparts. My thoughts are always centered around team play. So you dont "have" to have a way to self heal. But yes if your trying to take on teams solo with your cold/ fender you will have more trouble than before, because your -movement was hit with the nerf bat and DR just sucks. Psy mastery will help though. It adds a heavy hitter with dominate and a "sit and watch" power in TK.

    Lastly LoL@top tier in zone pvp.
  7. Well deflected and evaded are a result of high def, and you not having enough tohit/acc to hit them. So they were either in their tier 9 and very hard to hit or your slotting does not have enough acc in it. Were you using amplify? Still missing in aim can be frustrating . Unaffected is the message you get when they are phased. Stop attacking them until they unphase.

    Best PVP Combo

    Rad or Sonic/Pain or Rad or Sonic or Elec/Therm are solid choices for Arena and Zone PvP. Unlike Ultima I skip the first tier attack on both rad and sonic and use the epic pool attacks to fill in the gap. It makes for sub lvl 50 pvp to be a pain.

    Elec is a different story. It does not have a tier 3 attack. Just more end drain and that's not bad. Just rough in open zone to get kills. When people get HEed then start to get sapped they normaly book it back to base to let the debuff go away.
  9. Colds do very well in RV. I lean more to psy than power for colds for a few reasons.

    1 PB does not help cold a tun. Being Ice you already have aim so dont need it.

    2 Yes Total Focus hits hard but its melee and a long animation. Stalkers lick their lips when they see a fender go for a total focus. Where dominate hits hard probaly harder than anything you can throw from ice. Can take 3 damage procs to make it hit harder. and does not have you frozen in the air while that stalker is laughing hitting BU+A/S.

    and finaly 3 TK.... Tk is so nice with the new mez system. The hold is only broken when they take damage and its auto hit. So that means you can debuff them while they are TKed then "wake them up" with a sleet and your attack chain.
  10. Id go with something like this. Alot of +HP good amounts of +Recharge, +Heal, +Acc. and a solid amount of KB protection. Can solo in PvE and PvP. Also wont be a plague on teams because you have some buffs. The idea of a therm in 1v1s is to survive long enough for them to run out of end. Then win. If you get the +HP accolades you will be close to the cap. and thats not too shabby for a not that expensive build. You can sub the ranged damage purples for ruins for a smaller +HP buff but still a hp buff.

  13. I highly recommend taking our advise. I guess its your choice. I just dont understand your build choices. There is a reason that most of PvPers take SS/SJ. With SJ your open to -jump with SS your open to -movement. With both you are not open to either.

    insp management is a skill and takes time to develop. Its easy to do so in zone because you can PvE in the lulls to get some quick pills.

    All around def on a blaster will fail. The SR scrapper had 10 times the def you can get from sets. The most common sets to go for from blasters are +damage +hp +recharge and +Acc in that order. Do not forget about KB protection either. More often than not acro is not enough in PvP.

    Finally i agree totally that the new system is really really fail. With the power vacuum made by the exodus of older PvPers the new players are starting to think that being good in the new system involves some kind of skill. Where a team of all damage will beat a team of damage/debuff/buff/heal. Just kinda sad
  15. Yes you can get PvP IOs in BB. at any level.

  17. Invuln actually offers the best resists with tough out side of its tier 9. The def power is "skippable" because it only give the bonus when they are in melee range. So dont count on that small +def 9 out of 10 times. But With a solid build you can cap HP with dull pain and keep it perma. Then you also have a tier 9 that has a nasty crash but still can be useful. The problem with invuln compared to say fire armor is that it makes for a tight build. You need to take all the auto resists powers for it to be effective. But invuln is not forced to slot for as much kb protection. Or take acro like /Fire has to.

    Alot of people seem to be drawn to fire armor because it offers similar resists, has a tad better heal, has a 2nd +damage power and frees up the build some. On paper they are neck in neck out of the box and out of tier 9. Practice is a different story. I dont think for one sec anything other than invuln could have done what i saw a invuln tank do on test. That would be taunting 4 psy blasters for an entire match and not dieing. The blasters were no slouches either.

    it is. Tough/Weave is useless for corrs. Not taking SS or SJ is bad news. Not only can you slot a LotG in Combat jumping but you can also get +8 more mag KB protection from it too.

    You are wrong sir. It gives KB protection. And KB protection is DRed at the same rate as KB so the mag 12 KB protection it gives is not too shabby
  21. I guess i dont understand people wanting to spend billions of inf on builds on live. Yes purples and PvP IOs are nice. But the edge you get from them is so minimal especially with dr on. I have 1 toon purpled out and thats my Fire/Psy dom to farm with. All others I have not spent more than 200mill. Save the 34058903234 inf builds for test.

    Dont take either it comes down to gimping your build for the sake of set bonuses. dont take a power you wont use and 5 slot it. Take a power you will use and 5 slot it for comparable set bonuses.
