Something is probably crazy with the drivers. You might need to go through the whole clean driver install thing.
-
Ooops, somebody forgot to put something on the model!
I presume you /bug'ed the problem? -
Hmmm, that's interesting... the 195.xx drivers enable the latest beta version of the Adobe Flash player to really use your GPU instead of trying to do it all CPU side. That might be kinda neat.
Whenever I want to know how the latest drivers are doing, I pop over to Guru 3D's forums and try to get the overall gist of how well they work. There's always people that have some problems and always people who get great benifits so you have to read through a bunch of posts before you can understand how good the drivers are likely to be for you.
Ooops! ROFL! The Download button on NVIDIA's website (at least for Vista 64-bit) messes up and just puts script on the page instead of starting the download! See what happens when you try to make people work on/near Thanksgiving? -
I've got Vista 64, too. "Not a valid application" tends to mean that the exe is corrupted, or isn't really an exe at all. (If you make a text file on your desktop, type some junk text into it, save it, rename it junk.exe, and run it then you'll get that same error.)
Quote:I don't quite understand that. If you run instead of downloading? Huh? Maybe you should tell us exactly where you are getting the coh updater program and where you are putting it on your computer. Also if I run the updater instead of downloading the updater screen comes up but nothing happens -
Quote:No need to worry there, the phone system is set up so they can't actually hurt your ears with loud noises. If they are purposefully putting a choke on traffic, it would sure be interesting for us and NCSoft.
If I call they might just yell at me and tell me to get Time Warner to cut malware traffic or this will continue.
I had a heck of a lot of lagging and lost packets to the west coast servers, oh, about 8 months back. It was fixed eventually but 'eventually' was several weeks. These backbone companies' willingness/ability to fix their issues has gotten well into the unacceptable range. -

Do you have any idea how much time Dark Respite spent learning how to get characters to walk in videos??? And here you just do a "quick and dirty capture"! Something just ain't right about this. Maybe DR should be given exclusive access to the power for a couple of weeks before the rest of us get it.

Ghaa! Don't even say that! It hurts me terribly just to see that military guy standing in the Storm Palace zone. Before him, humans were mainly in Firebase Zulu with a small molepoint base in the Cascades and Justin Augustine (right next to the exit) in the Chantry. And what does this nameless military guy so deep in the Shadow Shard do? Well, he sells jet packs, of course.
Sorry to be a wet blanket but, honestly, I've been a lot less excited about the Shadow Shard ever since those portals got put in without any change to the molepoint system. The store NPCs are nice and some are fairly interesting NPCs - but why are they all placed right next to the zone exits? That essentially puts them all next to each other. Then the devs go and do the same thing again with the jet pack vendors. Arg. Why not just put ONE vendor in at Firebase Zulu?
All the Midnighter Club stuff was a welcome addition (and my heroes would all be quite happy if somebody were to drop a tactical nuke on Darrin Wade, even if he is standing next to a hospital) but, before they add more in, I really think they need to hit the retcon button and fix the place up a bit. Having Portal Corp and the military working together to slowly punch into each Shard while also having portals to all zones and a guy sitting in each one handing out jetpacks? That's outright nonsense. -
Demo edits for the win! There are some programs out there (like mine and Balshere's) that can help with the seriously tedious parts but you'll probably still be doing a lot of the work in Windows Notepad.
(They're good for neat little screenshots, too, and it doesn't take nearly as much work to set those up.) -
Certain venues? Diverse manners?? Oookay.
!!! Dark Respite? FOUR in the next two-and-a-half months? Wow, I sure hope so! -
Quote:Well, there's one problem right there. I guess Europe has a different registry entry for whatever reason? Jeez, that will mess up Demo Launcher, too. Arrrggg. I'll see if I can fix it this weekend.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\EUCOH]
The date thing could be caused by different date formats. I would trust what your driver itself reports as its version over CoH. (CoH Helper just runs the DXDiag program with XML output then picks the dates out of that.)
P.S. Why would you just go to SP2 when SP3 has been out for something like a year now!? -
Looks like it's working now. Did we get a new patch?
-
Quote:You seem to have it in your head that somebody went in and changed something in these specific TFs. That's not real likely - possible, but not likely. It's more likely that they made a change to another part of the game to fix some other bug (like maybe Amy's tendancy lately to attack the team that summons her) and it broke something over here.My comments about getting a code logging system into beta testers and semi public users still stands though.
These things happen ALL the time in programming. The only way around it that works well is exhaustive testing. If any changes need to be made to fix bugs found in the testing, you start all over again. If they tried to take that tact with this game, we would probably have just gotten issue 3 - assuming the game even survived this long, which wouldn't be likely.
So they have folks run through a bunch for a few weeks and catch what they can. Beta testers will always miss things but they probably aren't game breaking bugs. Once the patch goes live, the players will find a bunch more bugs and those get fixed over the next month or two - assuming they are fixable and serious enough to fix. -
Your own demos or demos recorded in game?
-
I deleted the checksum file and the relevant pigg file. It still broke. I'm pretty sure the version out on the Test update server is screwed up. Don't expect to play on Test this weekend, folks.

Already!? Wow, I'm impressed! Great job!

Low level weapon types might want to see if they can find a Observer boss hunt in the Shard, too. I think you'll be able to get the badge and snag yourself some Rularuu weapons. (Though I never tried it on Test.)
There will be a TON of farmers screaming and saying they will quit because their boss farms now give one quarter the XP. Might want to practice singing to them. (Yes, you can still use MA for farming, but I don't think it will be as trivial as it is now.) -
Yeah, it's sounding like we'll all get to go through this sooner or later. Just save up that PTO time, folks.
Get well soon folks! PLENTY of liquids, as much sleep as you can manage, and some real good computer games to keep you distracted as much as possible. -
Updated the Demo Edit program so it can handle the new color tinting. It doesn't do anything fancy with them yet but it no longer throws out the commands.
Also, I found a bug that was causing all the FX commands to set themselves to a 0 time delay. Most of the FX commands I've seen are 0 anyway (or very small) so I never noticed the bug before. -
A change sounds good to me. The old rock and lava armors were changed, I'm not sure why granite was left alone. It should definitely cover more to go with the slow speed and huge resists. The clipping is going to be nuts but encasing a 6" thick arm in a foot and a half of rock and expecting movement is pretty nuts already. Reality is going to have to take a back seat until you can dynamically morph the armor with our movements.
I'm not a terribly big fan of the whole 'granite' thing, either. We've already got rock armor. What's it made of? Sandstone? Granite isn't exactly the strongest stuff I've ever heard of. Iron armor maybe? -
Laughing to tears!!
What's this guy going to do when I16 hits?
Oooo, I wonder if somebody could trick him into clicking on an Oro portal? Would he ever be able to make it back to Atlas Park? -
I've still got most of the bugs I've posted as screenshots when testing.
Vivisect a robot?
Let's see, right arm on the left side... or his left side... or... oh dear
And, of course, the all time best bug ever... sideways skirt -
It's actually called Thank You and can be found at http://maximilia.net/
(which is on the list)
