For sweet f all, yes. Certainly not enough to reliably finance a character until around the 40s. Trust me, I've been playing that way for a good few years now.

Quote:Really don't get your hopes up on that one. The devs have said, multiple times, that vehicles are not within the limits of the game engine to do well.I'd like a vehicle-based booster pack. Why?
I want my Batmobile.
I want my A-Team Van.
I want a crazy motorcycle.
I want my Petercopter!
I don't want all of my characters teleporting, flying, leaping or superspeeding with rocket skates (I really want to get rid of those rocket skates, too). Some of them are more down-to-earth, and have to get by on the normal gifts they've got. It would be nice if they didn't have to rely on the Raptor Pack to get around. -
PFF gives you 75% def to everything and 40% res to all except toxic. It might as well be a perfect defence. But, frankly, I dont see this set making it in game (nothing new for the suggestion forums then..)
*bows out* -
It's to do with animations and game engine limitations, not want of ideas. Whips, especially like the ones in the Demon set, took a lot of time to get right. A whole set worth would take nearly twice as long as a normal set, if not more so.

Quote:*steps away from Green*Yeah but, they not famous Heroes, hell they not even B Rated heroes, If Being Fat Was Famous in Comic Books, then Super Man and Bat Man would be be Both Fat People. However you do Make a Point, however Mosty Villains can pull it off, by being Ugly, Sinful, Demonic and Grotesque. Super Heroes follow a old designs like they are suppose to look like Greek Statues, Gods like, Tall, Sexy and Strong.
I smell a can of worms opening here... -
Quote:I never said that.Huh... Didn't you just complain about having to use an optional element of the game, such as the Market and Inventions? If they just dropped SOs altogether, THAT IS ALL THAT WILL BE LEFT! Think about that very carefully before you support these ideas.
I would vote for making enhancements not decay. Anything to stop the mundane re-slot every five levels just to function at base levels. -

Quote:And yet, here I am, a PvE-er who's *asking* for Diminishing Returns to come to PvE. Not only wouldn't I mind, I'd cheer for it. The PvE-ers who wouldn't like it are the same crew, or at least the same mentality of the hard core PvP crowd who min-max to hit the caps. Diminishing Returns reduces that hard-target obsession.
And in fact, we *do* have DR in the PvE world, it's called ED, which, once the IO system came out, is regarded by most PvE-ers who understand game mechanics and balance, a good thing.

...What?
Sorry, that actaully doesn't compute? How is it impossible that someone can afford to play City Of on a month to month basis, but doesnt have the cash to sink into a new rig?
Im a student. Before hand, I was still at home, running City Of on my old laptop. It ran fairly well...on minimum settings. First thing I did when I got to Uni was to take some of the money I had saved and invest in a new desktop rig. I could afford to do so, so I did. I know of a friend or two, however, who simply cannot afford new rigs/gfx cards and the like. PS has long held onto helping out those with lower end rigs, hence not making Ultra Mode mandatory. This is just another example of that. -
Quote:GIVE. NOW.One thing I've always wanted.
City of Heroes: Enemy Mine: Wanted to be park of the Freakshow pack, a Commendant in the 5th Column or just love to party it up with the Carnival of Shadows, well now you can.
New Costume pieces:
Carnival of Shadows Face mask, Bodices and boots (female only, Bodice comes in Harlequin, Seneschal and Ring Mistress versions, boots have Harlquin or Ring Mistress pattern options).
Strongman Helment and shoulders (male only, Helmets come in the Bronze, Iron and Steel variants).
Freakshow chest details and cybernetic arms.
5th Column and Council face mask, 5th Column/Council armoured chest (with or without medals).
Wyvern helmets and chest details.
Legacy chain helmets and shoulder options.
Spectral Pirates shoulder parrot (for male and female).
Crey tank armour variants, Special agent robotic hand and comms unit options.
New temp power: One of us: a temp toggle (like the GvE jetpack), the crooks and criminals (or heroes and heroines) all think you're one of them (Works like the midnight costume/Freakshow disguise for a short period of time).
I would probably pay twice the normal booster pack price for a booster pack like this one.
Sadly the devs are about as likely to do this as the sun is to turn into a chocolate marshmellow...
/holds the Dev team up at Pulse carbine point. -
*checks thread length*
Yeah, that's about right, now...

Quote:Theres the rules. And then theres Hamidon. He's nasty like that.Actually, and I could be wrong about this because I've never actually taken Phase Shift to a Hami raid, but Hamidon ignores Phase shift. He can attack you through it as well as Hibernate.
Still, he explodes real nice...
Uhm...not quite sure what you're getting at there. And that analogy isn't sound, either. Phase IS an unbeatable defence. You CANNOT kill something while its phased. End of. Except in PvP, but thats an abomination anyway (Mechanics wise. Im not trying to be nasty)Quote:Think about it this way: This is a combat oriented game. Your objective, more often than not, is to defeat the enemy. If you can't defeat the enemy, you fail (or do not succeed). Phasing is not an unbeatable defense, no more than having the end boss being on the other end of Independence port without any attack long range enough to hit you with.
And popping evade or unstoppable to take that alpha strike will give you just as much (if not enough to simply not be defeated) protection while being able to actually win.
Sorry, but chalk me +1 up for 'broken' too.Quote:To state something is broken, you'd have to have proof. You can be of the opinion that it's overpowered. Sure. But to say it's broken without proof is rather pointless.
Thats a really bad comparison. WP and Shield are NOT immune to death. Yes, if built right it's easier to make them really tough. That is, in large part, thanks to IOs. And it depends on just who you're fighting. Both die just as fast when fighting Malta, Carnies or Nems. And even then, other groups have their ways. Needless to say, no set is immortal. Nor should it be. Heck, Shields attack is to make up for its slightly lower res/def numbers, when compared to, say, Invul. Shield characters do more damage, yes. But an Invul will outlive them, in my experience anyway.Quote:No one seems to have an issue with Willpower and how it can wade into a mass of weak to moderate enemies and stand around all day without worry of defeat (please, someone crunch the numbers on that. How much danger is a WP brute in a group of +0 minions and Lts? How many of them does it take to defeat him and how long?). Or the Shield Scrapper that gets absurd levels of damage with a huge AoE attack to swing around with it.
Except Stalkers are already ST focused as it is. And besides, the armour as it seems to be proposed IS broken. The other stalker sets have to fight one vs one style while the REST of the mob is hitting (or trying to hit) them. This one set would, the way it got proposed, blow all the others out of the water. Why would you bother playing anything else, when you can toggle immortality on and off nearly at will, and pick off enemies one by one without ANY fear from the rest of the mob?Quote:So what's wrong with an armor set specifically designed to handle single targets rather than masses of them? It's what a Stalker does best and why I proposed it as a set for that AT. Just like the masses of weaker targets pose no threat to the WP tank or the masses are simply fodder for the Shield Scrapper, a hard single target would be snipped by the Phasing Stalker. It's what it does well and would seem overpowering if only it's advantage were considered rather than everything the set provides. I bet if we never got WP or Shields and I told you the numbers and tactics of them now, you'd probably say they were overpowered too...and they just might be....but then fighting hoards of enemies with masses of AoE is 'the fad' of the game so should seem far above focusing on that hard boss. -
Quote:Nor would I. Tbh, the further away we can move from 'gear' base MMOs the better. IOs work out fine but, again, they don't expire.I don't think its dated, exactly. I think it was always broken that they expire. I know why they expire: because its gear, and in an MMO gear has to wear out, expire, break, or otherwise force you to buy better gear. But if you ignore that presumption, there's actually no reason for enhancements to expire in City of Heroes.
However, if the devs were to wipe them out and replace them with common IOs, I wouldn't complain.
I can see arguements for why they do. Inf sinks, etc. Doesn't mean I agree with them. -

I can't stress heavily enough how great an overhaul of the store/enhancement screens would be. -

Quote:Thats a really bloody attrocious reason. Frankly...simply no.
the explosion is one of the things tht make lvling fun..having the chance to get rid of it makes lvling a lvl...well...boring and not really omg yay.
even if it is an option the knowledge of it there is somewhat...a downer in my view
Not everyone can afford a great rig. I shelled out when I hit Uni because I was dog-tired of running the game on minimum settings because, if I ran it on anything else on my laptop it crashed.
/Signed. People should be able to have a choice, and being able to turn off/dim things that can potentially hamper their fun (when reasonable) get my sig. -
Quote:Oh, the sweet irony makes me chuckle.*rolls eyes* It's a game. Please take your moral superiority complex somewhere else and stop forcing it onto other people.
Thank you.
Or is it hypocrisy? Hmm.
If the point of above comment isn't clear, then the comments I am hinting at are either meant in jest (albeit not obviously) or said comment is true. -
Hmm. Some of it was interesting little tidbits.
T'be honest, I'd be more worried if the Devs were spouting off 'Oh yeah, we'll have X, and Y and such-and-such and it will all be soon and great with unicorns on top!' rather than being a tad more reserved but confident they can make it awesome. Jack was like that. We all know what happened to Jack.
And I know I didn't know about things like insp vendors in Praetoria that may move over to Paragon/Isles as well, and the newest GM, and that a 'notch' of side switching is aimed at around a week.
And, actually this; http://www.formspring.me/askcohteam

Will you ever change or update the Loading Pictures when you enter a zone?? by Magma09
[David Nakayama] Yes, this is in the works!
I didn't know that. But I'm glad I do now. -
AS really doesn't need its own sets. ST damage suits it just fine, really.
-
I also think it's wierd how 'Board Train' maps exit onto maps with absolutely no train connection. And would, ideally, be changed, because most Train missions are flipping Defeat Alls on huge outdoor maps. Not fun.

Quote:That would explain a LOT why I run out of End on my MA/SR scrapper, I would guess =SStorm Kick doesn't actually follow the rules *now*. It costs too much endurance for its base damage, and conversely it does more critical damage than any other tier 2 scrapper attack. Its allowed to break the rules for a reason. Before you conclude that my change would break Storm Kick unacceptably, you should consider why Storm Kick is allowed to break the rules now.

Quote:For you, maybe. However, if they made an alternate set of animations that was less flashy, that'd be cool too.If they're trying to make every new powerset like Dual Pistols, they're definitely working themselves too hard for an end result that isn't necessarily desirable.

And the whip was hard due to the physics and stuff involved (I would guess) which is totally unique in-game right now. So, a whole lot of coding and stuff, rather than just moving the character rig. -
