  1. What, is it my breath? Jeebus, people, it's an honest question...I don't know jack about Defenders and I want an opinion, that's all...
  2. ...What can I expect playing a Defender?

I wanted to make a hero for a change, so I rolled together a little concept which became a Dark/Rad Defender. After a little checking, I realized Corruptors can have an identical Rad/Dark build, and since I am well-veresd in the Corruptor gig, I figured I might have a shot at this.

However, I am a soloer. I like fighting, not supporting, and I'm concerned that a Defender isn't going to be up to the level I enjoy. To be fair, I was debating on a Sonic/Mental Blaster instead, but Radiation Blast is just so darn nifty I wanted to try it.

So, can a Defender dish out Corruptor-level offense, or should I scrap the idea and roll a Blaster instead?

    2 New IO Sets

Interesting concept, Bill. You could turn MA into psuedo-Fire Melee, or add some Energy damage to your Talsorian weapons...It would be awesome if a graphic could be added to the impact animation, just for flavor's sake. Maybe set them to have their typical side-effects, on a very minor scale? DoT for Fire, -end for Energy, slow for Ice, etc.

The question is, what sort of Procs would be present on an AS set? I can't really think of much that fits well, while being interesting. The most I can think of would be a Lethal DoT, to represent bleeding.
  4. I knew there was a reason for all those Posi's Blast pieces I've been picking up lately...Game over, man, game over!

    2 New IO Sets

Now that I never realized, or did and totally forgot about (More probable than you'd think...). No interrupt reductions allowed, huh?

I really don't see why not. AS and Snipe are two breeds of the same animal. If my Corr can slot for interrupt and throw Snipes in his normal attack pattern, why can't my Stalker do the same with AS? It's not as though it's a huge deal out of Hide, the damage is quite comparable to Snipe. Very odd, IMO.

    2 New IO Sets

I was unaware of other TP powers, but that's all the more reason to have a set. I think a rather appropriate proc would be chance for Disorient. After all, your victim was just ripped unwillingly through the fabric of reality...I'd be severely confused as well.

    2 New IO Sets

One of my characters is a teleporting Stalker, and I'm feeling like I got the short straw on IO sets for two key factors: AS and TP Foe.

I believe a new "Accurate Teleport" set is in order. Just one, granting +Range, Acc, and Recharge. I've come up with the name "Forced Summoning". Obviously intended for TP Foe.

Secondly, if Snipes get their own category, why don't Assassin Strikes? I think it's only fair that a couple AS sets be made, comparable to the existing Snipe sets.

    Your thoughts?
  8. I dunno about anyone else, but I can't solo an AV. If I put an AV in my mission, it's so that a team can take it on. I cannot always pick up 7 competant people to run Test with, therefore I cannot always ensure that everything after the AV functions properly.

For the record, the Devs have a literal "I Win Button" power. It's part of testing, and any developer worth their salt needs the ability to break the rules of the game. I once worked on developing a MUD, and had a similar "Finger of God" ability which flat=out killed anything, no exceptions.

While these abilities are justified, the existance of Test badges complicates the matter.

But...I have had a few terrible experiences with folks who expected healing healing, and can't understand that a Kinetics user has trouble throwing a Transfusion when you're waaaaaay over there, or that a Dark can't rez with no enemies in range. That sorta thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Clearly it is your fault for not having infinite range.

I know your pain. I've had the "OMG, why didn't yoo buff meh!?" from people halfway across the bloody map. Or when I stand in the middle of everything with my clearly visable giant bubble, and some moron blames me for coving the team instead of them exclusively.
  10. Amusing little side-note:

Cap has the University, BM, AE, Vanguard, and Midnighters.

St. Matial has a Lab, BM, AE, and Vanguard. It's a ghost town.

Both are accessable from the same Ferry.

Clearly, the Midnight Club is just that cool.
  11. Mitigation is mitigation. Healing is one, albiet powerful and direct, form.

I run a /FF MM. I have successfully held up a team on many occasions. Why worry about healing or reducing damage when you can flat-out prevent the damage?

Pick your flavor, it doesn't matter which, because in the end the results are the same...You're alive and the Mobs aren't.

    EDIT:

My main is a /Storm Corruptor. I am not a healer, something people find strange and alien, because I found O2 Boost to be a waste of a slot. Rather, I am a sapper/summoner/debuffer/agent-of-chaos, and it works just fine.
  12. I would certainly appreciate organized "Good vs. Evil" battle royales.

I think it would be awesome to have a "Supervillian" match. One vs. Many. One character, either a crazed villian or otherwise berserk hero, is granted HUGE buffs, scaled to the number of players. The remainder of the players are charged with taking him down. Simply apply GM properties to a player, and you simulate the epic struggle to stop one man often seen in comics.

Um.. put away the Apple 2E and buy a new rig? Upgrade? I dunno..

Only if you're paying. Sad to say, I don't have a couple G's burning a hole in my pocket. If I did, I would be paying off the debt from my utility bills and buying some decent food for a change.

Does that mean that if costumes were toggles you'd get pantsed by Toggle Drop Powers? =-3

    *Stops...Thinks...*

I am 110% behind the motion to make costumes toggles. Yes indeed.
  15. Fun Fact:

There are 18 AE Buildings in CoX. 11 Hero, 6 Villian, and 1 Co-Op.

There is nothing special about the ones in Cap Au Diable and Atlas Park.

I'd like to stop crashing everytime I come withing 100 yards of Aeon City and the Atlas statue. kthnxbai
  16. Doesn't it just make more sense to key in some macros..? It's simple enough to change costumes, unless you're using the menu...

Also, Toggles can be removed in combat. Mez may not anymore, but a new "toggle drop" property was added to certain abilities that are intended to remove them.
  17. I found that Wailer Lords have an Achelles Heel for sapping. Since that's my forte, I love taking them on...And then they rez, and I get more stuff out of them.

The EB is the easiest of the lot for me, I find anything lower rank to be more threatening. So sort of a love/hate.
  18. For a second, I thought the question was "Should I get DOS"...

...To which the answer is yes. Who needs Windows?
  19. Tentacle Control.

    Exactly what it sounds like.
  20. Heck, with Damage slotting and Assault, I do just dandy on damage, at least by Elec/ standards.

If anything, a chance to Crit on the opening Snipe would be nice. But since you have no Hide mechanic like Stalkers, it's impossible with the current engine.

Actually, increasing the "ignore" list just pushes your "fingerwag incident" out further.

But an auto-drop of accounts once banned would be great!

[/ QUOTE ]That won't ever happen, because that's NCSoft informing you of customer service actions against other accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So they don't have to tell us. I don't care if they get banned. I just want the name to be quietly whisked out of my bloated ignore list, by the invisible cyber-pixies under cover of night, never to see the light of day again.

Don't tell me, and I'll never know or give a rat's rectum.

To amend this: Add some sort of tag to story arc missions before you take them, so you know what you're getting into. If a tag is too awkward, maybe some additional (Possibly color-coded) text from the NPC...

"Once you're in, there's no backing down."
"I get the feeling we'll be working this case for awhile..."

Just off the top of my head.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There already are tags, or rather titles. Story Arc and Mini-Arc missions will always say, "Story Arc Name: Part #". So, if you come across a mission that says Part 1 you will know that it is part of an arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some do. I've found several examples in which they do not inform you. For example, I recently did a story arc for Technician Naylor (I already knew what it was, and was specifically trying to do it) which did not have any title or subtitle.

I admit, I had a bit of a brain lapse and forgot about the already existing titled arcs. I'm sorta drowzy But in any case, they should all be labeled as such, to remove such discrepancies (sp?).

Seriously. They took the evil Kheldians and made them heroes. WTF.
