Quote:Ridentem dicere verum quid vetat. As for being "too early" for the Pocket D or Roman costume pieces, beta currently says the Roman pieces are only available until Feb 20, 2012. I feel pretty strongly that's what we're getting in the store tomorrow.
My Latin is terrible. -
Quote:It's 99.99% certain to be at the Dinah again. We haven't singed contracts yet, so hence the .01%.For what it's worth... when I called Dinah's Garden Hotel (where it was held back in November), apparently it's listed there again this April. Mention Paragon Studios for the discounted rate.
Whether they're going to change it, I don't know. But when I called the day the Pummit was announced, that's where it was.

It's very likely many of you went and jumped on Beta and played through this arc already. It's our fault it was published and we're taking steps to ensure it doesn't happen again. We're going to edit out some specific references as well as any screenshots that we do not feel focuses on the character in question.
Let's refrain from sharing any further details about the arc here on the general forums.
For those asking about Penny's new face, we're going to be introducing a new normal mapped Asian female face with the Imperial Dynasty costume set, so be sure to keep an eye out for that to hit the Paragon Market if it interests you. -

Quote:I once saw a guy walking down the street with a toilet paper tube colored black with some kind of marker and taped to the side of his hat. When asked what it was, he said it was his handsfree.I've always been a huge proponent of giving hands-free devices to homeless people so they look less crazy walking down the street talking to themselves. Call it Blue-Tooth Dignity.
I kind of believed him. -
FYI, the lower body on the "Mystery Character" is tights (if you look at the high rez version you can see the sheen/reflection). The midriff is actually the only skin showing (aside from the face I believe).

Quote:Keep in mind that this Eulogy is delivered in the voice of Positron the character, not Positron the developer. That's an impressive catalog of great deeds for a superhero and a multi-generational portrait of a family man. What's missing, though, is a fully articulated worldview that motivated him to become a hero, differentiating Primal Earth's Marcus Cole from the villainous versions apparently in every other parallel universe. All the classic superheroes (and their nemeses) have defining creeds or personal outlooks that ground their high-flying adventures. We certainly know the philosophies behind Lord Recluse's campaign for world domination and Tyrant's quest for total control - and they're justifiably celebrated or reviled from here to Praetoria. Statesman, however, never possessed any shades to his character besides a four-color "might for right" comic book heroism.
If we don't really know what Stateman stood for, why should we be moved by his fall?
Positron the character probably wouldn't delve into all of that, especially not in a Eulogy. -
For those asking for lions and tigers and manbearpigs...oh my...
This is just our first foray into the animal-ish travel powers. There's plenty of fertile ground for us to draw material from. Based on the success of the Coyote Travel power, it's fairly likely you'll see other incarnations. -

Quote:This is certainly something we've considered, however we also weighed in our history of involving the Community in the story of CoX. It's actually far *more* work to include a Community character (legal, taking submissions, making a selection, vetting backstory, etc) than just writing a character ourselves....
If you really feel like you need the community to pick a replacement (and not just have one of your paid writing staff do his or her job), then I implore you to simply pick 4 or 5 NPCs that are long overdue for a promotion and the character development it brings.
Even by selecting a Community member, our paid writers will be earning their salaries by writing this character into the lore of CoH. -
Guys...guys...guys...

2 things:
- Let's reserve judgement and wait and see how the story plays out. As I said after we announced States was shuffling off to the great hereafter, there's still 2 more chapters to go, and anything can (and probably will) happen.
- When writing these stories, we have to make them personal, and yet still all encompassing as they have a definite impact on the game world. In talking to Dr. Aeon, I know for a fact that he does everything in his power to convey a truly villainous experience, but please understand that we cannot take each and every character, origin or backstory into account. Don't get me wrong, we would *love* to give you all the opportunity to take over or destroy the world, but unfortunately that particular story telling mechanism is a bit difficult to convey outside of a medium like console games.
In a world (tell me you didn't just hear Don LaFontaine's voice)...where other people would be affected by it, how would we get to chose who actually presses the button? I mean, aside from the obvious...
The obvious is I push the button. -
This has been forwarded along to Seattle to check into.

One of the beautiful things about my job is playing a small role in the facilitation of this wonderful online Community. The friendships we have made over the last 7 years transcend distance and time, and creates something that is truly special: Friendships built without assumption and on a shared love.
Thorgar, I send you and your family my deepest condolences. It is evident by the memories shared here that your wife had a lasting effect on the people she touched, both in "real life" and in our Community. -
Quote:No need to stalk. I play on three different servers on a regular basis. While one of them is Virtue, the other two do not include Freedom or Exalted. You hear that devs? Snow Globe has apparently been stalking you.?
Here's another hint: My day one server was Victory. Ok, that wasn't much of a hint. More like a statement. Meh, I've said it publicly before.
I also play on another server from time to time with Tunnel Rat and Honey Badger. Not telling you which one that is because I do not wish to feel the wrath of Tunnel Rat.
On my dev account, I lurk in multiple server global channels all the time. Just ask the people who I surprise when they're trolling me in channel .
No, I will not tell you what my personal global is, although I've received PM's from people who got tells telling me that someone thought I was them. Those poor, poor people. Nope, I'm not going to tell you my +3 Troller or +3 Scrapper's name. Nor any of my other countless alts.
Anyway, yes, I play. Maybe not as much as I would like to these days between the kids, wife and work, but I get my playtime in. -
Quote:First, we have no plans to ever sell badges. Also, I would love it (seriously) if you could give me a good reason for allowing other people to view your collections other than selling badges under a different name. I honestly don't like to think Paragon's going there, but it's the only possible explination I've seen given and I can't think of any other.
Second: We needed a way for players to easily track what costume parts or other items they still need without having to dive into the costume creator. Collections seemed like an ideal solution since it already lends itself to categorical listings that can be referenced in a relatively quick manner.
That's about the extent of it.
