"Hey guys, what's going on in here? Reboot Batman? Hang on... let me call my agent."
Paid for the by Friends of Terry McGinnis. -
Quote:I'm a bad person for not being placated (when I had no need to be) by the flicking of an event switch (that I grow tired of when it's in its usual form at its usual time). You're all absolutely right.
Next time when the devs have to do a lengthy downtime to fix an accidental server rollback, they should just either A) Not fix the server rollback and let their players deal with losing stuff they gained the previous day, or B) tell them to suck it when they're upset about losing a whole day of playtime.
Yes, those would be MUCH better ways of handling it than giving us a weekend of an event normally only available to do 2 weeks a year as an apology.
I was happy with just 'sorry, database snafu. Working on getting it online.' If they wanted to do a token gesture of goodwill, 1 day of game time added to accounts (which they've done in the past) would have been token-y enough.
Instead I've had 2 out of 3 evenings spending up to half an hour fighting off the mindless dead, a task that isn't really exciting. It's more annoying, especially as it disrupts my chosen form of entertainment in game (Zone-based outdoor social RP).
You may think 'Half an hour at most isn't much' but it disrupts my train and setting of thought, breaks the flow of roleplaying, and the inevitable questions of undead in April come up. Thankfully genre savvy characters have been there to shrug it off with 'A Wizard Did It'. For another player who is currently on shift work, it eats away at a huge chunk of their available playtime. -
Quote:Cyborg Pack: I get quite a lot of use out of the belts, the helmet (well, hat stuff) for power armour, and the auras. You can put Hot Pink Cloak of Fear on everyone of your alts! They just have to be Dark Armor users!
That said, I have to ask, how often have you used these new costume pieces?
Maybe the reason the have made them into booster packs lately, is because a lot of people stick to the basics of what they had available way long ago.
I know while I have everypack made available, I'd say the Emote pack gets more of my attention than the costume pieces.
Cybrog Belt is about the only piece from the Cyborg Pack I use (and often, I love the belt).
MA Pack, I don't recall using many of those options aside from Ninja Run.
Science, yup, none of them.
Mutant, okay this has some pieces I use.
Valkyrie = boots.
Magic = A few pieces from this one actually, gloves, witch top (never the boots...have you seen how big they make the feet!), witch bottoms...and I only wish I could change out the Fur Shoulders on the magic jacket, for another shoulder option!
Mutant = Another one that gets some use when I have a concept that can use the pieces.
But really, they're like nice to have, but I can't say I've used most of the items in it. So, if the majority of players are that way, then they'd make money off their time with booster packs.
Whether or not you agree that they should, is of course a different story.
Magic Pack: The Baron Jacket gets a whole lot of use, I find it makes a great overcoat, and I have a character that uses the Baron stuff pretty much. Witch stuff gives some nice boots for the more femme fatales, and I've got a couple of characters who use it a fair bit for that. Disappointed that the big hat and big coat aren't for women though.
Super Science Pack: I've got some characters that rely on going from Female > Huge for power armour (magical or tech), and the gas masks and some of the other goggles come up in use on characters.
Martial Arts Pack: The Tai gloves get a whole lot of use, as does the robes for pretty Chinese dresses or sorcerer/witch battledress. Helmet I find works well on making a cool tech helmet, or a cool magic/armour helmet.
Mutant Pack: Organic Armour face, for the cool glowing eyes. A few characters use the Organic Armour headpiece for horns, and others use the wings. Don't really use the Bio-organic stuff. Don't like the face.
Origin Pack: Use a lot of the auras, love the magic cape as well.
Wedding Pack: The bridal stuff makes good fancy shoes or classy evening wear.
Valkyrie Pack: Love those Valkyrie Shoulders 3.
GvE Pack: Justice is in use for a power suit for my fire scrapper, sinister mostly gets used for boots on occasion, or gloves.
GR Complete Collection Pack: One character uses the omega hairpiece along with the organic armour piece. Alpha tends to be used for some power suits or tech uniforms. Occasionally use the auras and love Villainstance2.
Issue costumes I've gotten the most use out of? Issue 13 Civilian clothes. Love that casual blazer especially. -
"We're sorry the downtime on Thursday went on so long that the EU players lost pretty much a day's worth of play. In exchange, have an annoying raid event with toxic damage, a lot of -to hit, and a zone event that unless you have a large team is pretty much unwinnable."
At least it isn't the winter event again. I'm hoping not to see that for a long time, seeing as how it dragged on so much. -
The Doctor: Why do you have to be so... human?
Rory: Because right now I'm not.
Nuff said, for me. Can't wait until the next season (Though part of me will always hope that the 12th Doctor will be David Mitchell, with his wit and penchant for bursting out into intelligent and very amusing rants.) -
1: More Colour and Skin Tone Options.
2: Making sure all the items have matching parts elsewhere, when logic would dictate they're part of a set: (Heart Plus Boots/Gloves to go with the Top/Bottoms, for example.)
3: Makng sure certain costume options have the right colour editing abilities (IE, Bridal Gloves/Top/Shoes. The skirt can take two colours. The rest have the pattern for it, but can't.)
4: Giving Auras from level 1. We have a load already, there's no logical reason not to simply make the rest available. The Aura mission is chaff with a direly bad premise in any case.
5: Likewise for Capes. We have the option to have them at level 1 now, why not give us the option then just reward a special cape from the Cape Mission.
6: Fixing the gender imbalance in missing costume pieces. Huge does not have Smooth/Sleek Sleeves options in the glove deparment, for example. Male and huge don't have access to shoulder cats/pandas. Females don't have access to the excellent Baron jacket, or the leather non-biker jacket.
7: Work on giving some of the mask options 2 colours, for example: Make Up, allowing for separate lip and eyeshadow colours.
8: Ignore some clipping concerns. There's plenty of items that clip already. Saying we can't have others as they may clip is just a bit silly, we can use such items for interesting purposes that do look good. Give the player base some credit.
9: Allow keyboard presses to jump you to that letter on the menu. So if I go into the chest emblem menu, and want Symbol 4, I can just press S and it takes me to the s section, rather than scrolling through all the letters to S, or backwards through all the greek letters, other chest pieces and so forth to S.
10: Allow us a button to hide the UI in the character screen, much like in the power customization screen. Then centre the character and have a small panel allowing you to control the zoom and camera position. PS: An option for a white/black/green/bluescreen background would be nice. -
The thing about the bombs is, some land and explode straight away. Some don't. We can't stop the ones that explode straight away, so apparently they'd still do damage. Which means it's kind of odd to then go and stop the unexploded bombs when an exploded bomb previously hit there and exploded with all its might.
So while some heroes do go and work on taking out the other bombs, the others gather ready for the invasion, because the Rikti have the sound tactical thinking to beam into the largest group of heroes. (Yeah, beats me too.)
Some civilians that go to the statue go and shelter in Freedom Court, or heroes that aren't fully fighting fit. Those that stand around talking about the weather or fashion or what not, do so to pass the time. Pretty soon they are going to get swarmed by aliens, which has happened to a lot of them before, so they get their minds off things while it happens. Some characters will just remind everyone of standard tactics, sometimes explain things to people who haven't experienced a Rikti invasion before (But wish to fight them off) and then when they start beaming in, people go to business. Sometimes they'll quip during fights, sometimes they'll be silent.
At the end, they make sure everyone's alright, treat any injuries, pass around praise where needed, and then carry on, as that's all they can do.
Edited to Add: IC Reactions to the raids tend to go from 'Not this again', and 'Oh, I am not in the mood for this' to 'What do I do what do I do what do I do aaaaaah' and 'Hells yeah, time to get me my fight on!'
Of course, when it's LGTF Strike Target Week, player will to fight can wear a little thin. -
Azure Arrow has a folding bicycle that he uses to get around the city.

I hope that with the generous aid of nations, groups, companies and individuals, Japan will not only rise out of this stronger, but be able to share their expertise in how to deal with these sorts of natural events and disasters to other countries, especially those on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
With generous donations like this and the countless others, that hope can become closer to realization. -
A: End of Summer seems like a fair time away from the announcement.
B: In the meanwhile, as Zombie Man states, if someone were to make a US global with my global name in a month's time, I'd be the one to lose it, having played in the beta from January 2005, because I have the sheer audacity to be an EU player?
C: Not even taking into account the chances of a long inactive, long dormant NA account holding claim to the name?
That ain't cricket. -
Quote:Only if I can get some Peanut Butter M&M's, some Bubbleyum (if it still exists), an In-and-Out Burger, and some S'mores. There are 4 things that the EU Community must bring with them to the NA Servers
- Döner kebab
- German Beer
- English Breakfast
- Birmingham Curry
That is all.
(We can also provide Devon Cream Teas, Cornish Pasties, Fish and Chips, sunday roast dinners with yorkshire puddings, staple stodgy sweets like spotted dick and roly-polys, and more.)
ETA: I forgot Welsh cakes! -
Quote:Am I the only one who finds this to be very disappointing, and a bit of a disservice? For a game that touts customization, saying "Oh, you can't have a street clothe wearing hero, it's not heroic." strikes me as being a big mistake.
Nate: We've discussed street clothes but they're not "very heroic"
Heroes can be caught offguard, or maybe not have time to get into their costume. We have Pocket D and Studio 55 for roleplaying, there are characters that aren't spandex clad heroes, that street clothing would suit, it would suit villains to for similar reasons.
Also, if street clothes 'aren't very heroic', then what the hell, Party Pack? How heroic is dancing like Michael Jackson, or bouncing a basketball? -
As a preventative measure, the Japanese government will be distributing iodine to protect against any release of radioactive iodine. (Iodine binds to the thyroid gland and prevents uptake of radioactive iodine.)
-
I'm hoping my old penfriend Hitomi is alright, and I wish luck to the countries efforts to not only deal with an Earthquake and a Tsunami, but the trouble at the Fukushima-Daiichi reactor as well.
(ETA: And even more luck for dealing with the Fukushima-Daini reactor problems.) -
My blaster secondary effects and mezes weren't worthless.
There's no reason for me to use my holds on my Ice/Ice Blaster. -
We do, but you can't get booster add on packs or the like in it. Just character services.
-
Congratulations to you and the little one! Here's hoping for a good recovery for you and health for the daughter!
-
Agreed, especially for characters with eyepatches, monocles and faces that have an eye closed/damaged.

18 hours so far with no response.
The odd thing is, my question I was asked? It wasn't any of the usual ones. It was just a word and a question mark.
Heck if I know what the answer is. -
14 hours now, no support response. Not surprising, but someone earlier said they were tempted to rage-quit CoX?
You're not the only one.
If this isn't resolved reasonably soonish, I'm phoning my bank to say "Hey, these guys? Don't let them have my money."
I'd lose my accounts for this and Guild Wars, but eh, I doubt I'd play another NCSoft title if this doesn't get sorted. -
Quote:Well, I get the reasoning, sure. They didn't want them farmed. Theoretically, a MM can camp the spot and if his pets are capable to defeat the enemies, he can step away from the computer and level up without doing anything. Events produce infinite foes to a single spot. And since they use the scaling-battle code, the player will never outlevel them.
So, all the rewards were moved to the reward table at the end of the mission.
It's just not very good reasoning to me. The fact that it means no inspirations boggles the mind.
I did the Imperial Zone event on one character. I don't plan on doing any more. It's just not worth the effort. -
Floating orbs of power.
That's what I'd prefer.
Floating orbs of glowy goodness. You can take that to mean essence, or some power from an artefact, or from the well, or what have you. -
If this was done to relieve the workload on support when dealing with hacked master accounts, congratulations: you've just increased your workload by a huge amount.
Roll this system back.
Because currently I'm fretting about trying to get all the information support needs, plus my first born child and some inherited silver just so I can access my Master Account.
I made this account in late December 2004 for a beta that I wasn't sure I was going to continue with. We got this announcement not only extremely close to the roll out of the system, but also with no clear instruction of how to change said questions beforehand.
The worst thing? I'm on recurring billing. So I'm dreading the possibility of being locked out of my master with no way to stop the billing. Because this move has dented my faith in NCSoft's competency.
And having it tied to IP Addresses?
Just pull a Blizzard and offer Authenticators. Give using them an in game perk, as the other game did with a minipet.
It'd be a damn sight more secure. -
Terrible idea, terrible introduction, just glad I didn't try more than five times.
Sent stuff to support, going to bed now. -
Something I've wondered since the introduction of them, is the lack of rewards from the mobs in the tasks.
We get the usual things from Rikti, Zombies and Supernatural events, and from troll raves, ghost ships and hellion arsons but we don't get the following from the i19 Zone Events:
Experience
Influence
Enhancements
Inspirations
Salvage
Recipes
Prestige
The Inspirations one bugs me a lot, and the lack of rewards from mobs kind of discourages me to do them on a Praetorian I'd be levelling, as I'd do all that effort just for the end reward.
Has there ever been a reason from the devs as to why there's no reward-y goodness?
