I had a reply, but decided there was no reason for me to become a troll too.

Quote:Who would they let ascend to that level of power though? Is there paperwork that needs to be submitted.I don't think so. It was said that Rularuu was an 'unauthorized' Ascended and that Prometheus' organization would have stopped his ascension if they had known about it.
I am basing my opinion on some hints that were dropped in a ustream a (long) while back. I will see if I can dig it up and post a link to it later. -
-
I think it is Rularuu. Which would explain why the menders stopped him from being killed. The well makes us incarnates, and we need to be incarnates to defeat the coming storm. If Dream Doctor had managed to Kill Rularuu then there would be no incarnates, and we would be screwed.

Quote:I agree, but a man can dream.Ah, I assumed you were saying to model it after the D&D crits, where Battle Axes crit half as often but for double the bonus damage.
Simply making Scrapper crits x3 with the same odds would be a fairly significant buff.
I am not sure why no one likes the idea of increasing scrapper endurance max, but the suggestion just isn't taking root with anyone. :/ -
Quote:Think I see where you are coming from, and I may not be being very clear. I am not suggesting lowering the current crit chance (or changing the increase the ATIO gives) I am just suggesting making scrapper crits do x3 instead of x2 damage when they go off.The problem with this is that, while it leaves the average contribution of crits where it is now, it makes the discrete behavior feel "more random". In any given fight, there will be half the chance of a crit happening. Sure, when it happens, it will be larger, but it's going to happen less often, making it less likely to be a factor against each foe.
In other words, in order to observe convergence in damage towards the calculated average you're more likely need to fight for longer.
That seems pretty unattractive to me.
No one seems to like the endurance total increase except me, so I thought I would throw something else out.
Either way I wish they would replace Conserve with Superior Conditioning in the Body pool. :/ -
I don't want it to trigger any less often than it does now. Sorry if I was not clear there. I am just saying rather than buffing the crit chance (except for the ATIO proc), buff the damage the crit does. x3 damage crit would make it different from the stalker crit.

Quote:Is that really how many of us on these boards play our scrappers though?I like that Scrappers, at least with many or most combinations, are the easy button.
I feel comfortable posting this because I am not really asking for a buff, just something unique to the scrapper.
For me when I play my scrappers it is all about what I can do w/o any help. Things like Pylon Soloing, the RWZ challenge, Soloing GMs (who run too damn much), or any number of other things we do just because every scrapper feels like Chuck Norris. Let's face it, if you have to take an inspiration to beat a spawn it feels like you have failed. Shoot there are times I feel I have failed if I even need to use my click heal during a fight.
I am pretty sure at some point this will be thrown back at me with statement of "How can you post this and still ask for a buff?" Because I don't want a buff, I just want something that is unique to the scrapper. I could live with the Costume option, the Emote, the Costume change, Dang give me a T-Shirt option that says "I Kick More *** than YOU!" and I would be sure that every scrapper I have has one costume that uses it. I do think anything cosmetic would have harsher reactions than any unique mechanic could though.
Also for the record I am not a fan of every suggestion made, but it is cool that people are making suggestions. I think Johnny has been ignored for so long because of how unreasonable he can be. Most of us are not really being unreasonable. -
Quote:Cool. I love you math people, where would the world be w/o you? That's pretty spot on. Formula for single target is -- recharge/60 x PPM
SK is on a 6 second recharge sooooo 6/60 = .10 or 10% multiply now by PPM - normal version is 4 PPM superior is 5 PPM.
Normal version is 40% chance with Storm Kick.
Superior version is 50% chance with Storm Kick.
Keeping it in SK I think is going to fit my play style a little better. It still leaves me wondering if I am going to take placate sooner than 49 though. :/ -
Quote:That would cause more ******** than anything discussed so far. I mean really go look at the costume threads!Give scrappers a new costume change emote. Done and over with.
On a serious note, I posted this in the other thread too.
I was thinking about crits in D&D last night. The Long Sword has a roll 19-20 x2 damage crit iirc, the battle axe has a roll 20 x3 crit.
Give scrappers the Battle Axe version, and leave their crit chance where it is.
Quote:I will mostly agree with Brutes, but not with Stalkers. Fury is not ignorable in my opinion, but it's easy to build, especially solo. I do not ignore my Assassin's Focus. I spend time paying attention to where it's at to gauge when best to AS. I don't have to do that, but I need to if I want optimum performance from AS, which I do want. I like that Scrappers are "stuck", just like a lot of people prefer powersets that are "toggle and go". Don't get me wrong, I like my Brutes and Stalkers, but how the Scrappers play is my favorite experience, because they just "are".
Quote:AKA: Keep it simple stupid. -

I think the game could beniffit from new animations for old powers as much as it can by selling new power sets. Think about it, if a whole new set of animations came out for claws or bs would you buy it? I know I would.
How about Spell casting animations for the blast sets? I am pretty sure stuff like that would sell in the store.
Shoot, I am not sure why they have not made combat stance toggles that are 0 end to sell in the store. You can fight from the Ninja run animation, it just costs a ton of end.
On this, I am sure I am the odd man out. -
Quote:I will test it tomorrow, but it seems to be procing at lease every other activation of SK.Not a bug. All the ATO procs work off a Procs Per Minute formula instead of a flat % chance. What this means is that powers with a longer base recharge will proc more often than quick spamming attacks. Per the formula, AS recharge is long enough that it will proc everytime.

Quote:If it always fires from AS, I am betting it is a bug. Has anyone seen a dev comment on that, and are you sure it always fires from there? For whatever reason, the ATIO Hide proc slotted in AS always fires off when you use it. It pretty much turns AS into Placate, so if you slot it there, there's no good reason to take Placate anymore.
I was really only looking at Placate as an "Oh CRAP!" power any way. -
Right after i22 I played a Nin/Nin stalker to 50 and incarnated (T3 only), but that stalker was already lvl 40 when i22 hit. So I pretty much followed the mids plan I already had in place.
A few days ago I made a MA/SR stalker. I hated MA on scrappers, but I really love it on this stalker. I think the lack of Dragon's Tail and Crane Kick later in the selection are what I like. So far he is a beast. I stuck a full set of 6 stalker ATIOs in Storm Kick, so the hide proc goes off a lot and I get a very good amount of crits. No real need for the old way I played stalkers, which was slow because I was waiting for hide and AS. Now I just fight along, which is a bit more fun to me.
Here is the real question though. How long should I wait to take Placate? I did a full build and all of a sudden realized I had not take placate at all. So I dropped maneuvers and stuck in at 49. I am thinking I should take it sooner, but I am just not sure what to skip, or where to stick it. Shoot I am not even sure if I should take it with the play style I am going with.
Here is the build thanks for any advice.

Quote:One time I was duo'ing (or in a team of 3 maybe) doing DA arcs and I was on my grav/thermal controller. I think it was a Sibyl mob that I was trying to attack/hold/immob/etc while my teammate(s) were attacking other mobs.
I saw the mob start to attack me/do a wind-up type of animation but didn't move because, "meh, I've seen all their attacks" and just wasn't really paying attention/not caring since I could heal the damage done or was close to holding the mob (I think it was an EB).
The next thing I know, BOOM! *dead* O_O It happened so fast but I think it was some sort of meteor that hit me or something...all I know is I've never seen it before and haven't seen it again. Whether that's because I ignore most mobs when solo or the mobs die too fast to use it...
It was really sweet looking...and did A LOT of damage (basically one hit me...I know I didn't have full health but still heh).
I had that happen and had to go back through my combat logs to find out what had killed me. It was a lightening bold that was long and constant. The combat log called it Lightening Flow. It was awesome, I said to my friends over skype "I died, I didn't know I could do that any more."
The new attacks, and some of the new costumes used there are just awesome. -
Quote:And making changes to scrappers is pretty far down my list of things I want to see happen in this game. Just off the top of my head; blaster changes, new incarnate abilities, pool power customization, several new powersets I'd like to see, fixes for several existing powersets, zone revamps, and new purple IO sets are all things I'd like to see more than scrapper inherent changes.
See, those are things that are important to you (some of them are important to me too) scrappers having their own unique thing is important to me. It is what I choose to post on. -
We will each continue to fight for what we believe in then. Scrappers and costumes are what I care most about in this game. So, those are the things I will always go to bat for, as long as we stay polite the mods will stay out of it I guess.
Quote:And quite well. There are others here who have not. It is your choice to post it again Uber. There are a few here who just choose to post rude and condescending replies.I explained this in one of the other threads. -
Quote:I have never taken it, but I would hate to see it change. If it were a good power my builds would get even tighter than they are. :P
I don't think it really matters how much 'look at me survivability' they get, since at no point have significant numbers of people ever taken confront. It has always been skippable.
Increase the endurance max (with a level scaling bonus) of a scrapper and be done with it. -
Quote:Stalkers NEEDED a buff. I am not going to argue against that. They got a great buff that makes the AT fun and exciting to play. How many years are you willing to wait for the needed scrapper buffs?
Scrappers (most of us any way) realize that Scrappers do not NEED a buff. What we WANT is something that is unique to scrappers. Scrappers have no Power set or Mechanic that is unique to them. In the case of crits, Stalkers have a far better version of it, and with ATIO's added in, a more predictable version of it.
There have been multiple suggestions on how to solve this issue w/o killing balance, or adding complexity to the scrapper. We at least all agree that we do not want a complex mechanic, or one that needs to be monitored, to be added to the scrapper. I am sure those of us who have made suggestions like ours the best.
I don't think any of us who are passionate about this are going to back off though. This has been an odd subject in many ways. There are some posters that I have respected for years who have made me angry during these discussions. Some I have played and chatted with in beta who are really fun to play with and talk to. The shocking thing is really how rude some of us have been in these threads.
The up side is this is not a new fight for me. It just got more intense during the i22 beta. -
Quote:This is all true, but I think the IO system more than solved the problem. I can def soft cap a blaster, that is much better than pre-ed imo.ED bent Blasters over the table and did not nice things to them. If ED was/is necessary, the enhancement system is broken. Which it probably is.
ED is still a poorly documented mess. I was reading the Massively column recently where Elliot was trying hard to explain the system to folks. And he still managed to make a mistake. In what is probably the most casual MMORPG on the market, the enhancement system and ED in particular is a complicated mess.
/threadjack
There was a lot of crap done in that era that was just horrible. Look at the fact that a whole power set was completely changed. Jack, and Cryptic selling this game to NCsoft is the best thing to ever happen to CoX.
No, I am not over the regen changes. I will NEVER get over them. The cottage rule exists because of crap like that and crap pulled in that space MMO.
Oh, and were we not talking about scrappers?
