For example: a Stalker with defender/corruptor control duration modifiers or Controller/dom level buffs, debuffs, and (ally)heals.
Or a Blaster that could use scrapper armor modifiers (which... would amount to basically jack since the scrapper's armor modifier would only mean the blaster gets about an additional 1.5% to resists and defense self buffs) or MM level buffs, debuffs, and (ally)heals.
Or, in damage terms, a scrapper or tank gaining dominator ranged damage mods so that those ranges APP powers they get don't suck quite so bad.

This thought had actually occured to me as a possible suggestion for Incarnate abilities, but I scrapped it mostly because they're already this late into development.
But the point wouldn't be about gaining new powers, but making even more use out of the powers we have.
Or VEAT/HEAT scales. Since, y'know, they are an Assault/Armour AT. And they work perfectly fine.

Yeah, High was a bit of a vague term. One thing that bugs me in game is that sets are not classed 'minor, moderate, high' etc in relation to other sets. They are classed in relation to the same set. So, even though Flares and Charged Bolts do the exact same damage, Flares is classed as minor, while CB is classed as Moderate. Gets really darn confusing real fast >_<

But yeah, bump up the Shrieker shell to Superior/Extreme damage, whichever is normal for snipers.
  5. And thus completely negating the point of them being AV rank?
/Unsigned. It's already possible to do some quite nasty things to AVs, even with PToD. This would just make them laughable, and I quite like AVs the way they are.

Sheesh...is it a curse or something? It's like the giant spiders...
    Well, it's not. But still...
  7. /Signed. That and to have all the options in the Alpha and Omega auras ported to the other auras. As it stands, those twho have a few more options, some of them very classy, like only right or left arm auras.
  8. Ranged or Assault combined with armour does not a tank mage make. VEATs do it, HEAts do it, and it's worked out non-tankmage flavoured so far.

This, however, is not a well planned idea. So /unsigned. I'll just wait till a proper Ranger or Assaut/Armour AT is made, thanks. Without relying on something that sounds like a CO clone.

    The Resistance have it.
    I want it.
Simple, neh? I don't actually know what powers they have, and the wiki hasn't been updated with anything yet, so here's a WIP to stand in until I go get shot at in the name of science.

Arclite Autocannon - Blaster + Corruptor Primary, Defender Secondary

Tier 1) Double-Tap - Minor Damage, Lethal + Energy, -Def
A quick double-tap burst that lowers your enemies defences and does moderate damage.

Tier 2) Single shell - Moderate Damage (Lethal/Energy)
A single aimed shell that does moderate damage.

Tier 3) Heavy Burst - Moderate Damage, Cone (Lethal/Energy), Knockdown
Three shells fired in an arc for maximum exposure and moderate damage. The shockwaves have a chance to knock enemies down.

Tier 4) B-10 Shell - Moderate Damage, Targetted AoE (Lethal/Energy), Knockdown
An explosive shell that does moderate damage and has a chance to knock enemies down.

    Tier 5) Aim - +To Hit, + Dam
    Enough said really

Tier 6) Echo Shell - Minor Damage (Energy), Stun
A special stunner round that does decent damage and stuns an enemy for a while. (More damage than the likes of beanbag for reduced mez duration)

Tier 7) Shrieker Shell - Sniper, High Damage, Targetted AoE (Lethal/Energy), Fear
A high powered round that explodes on impact. The hollow shrieking sound it makes in the air is enough to case some enemies to quake in fear.

Tier 8) Piercer Round - Superior Damage, Narrow Cone (Lethal/Energy), -Res
These special Piercer shells not only do excellent damage, they can also pass through one enemy and hit others behind them. They also leave foes with reduced resistance for a time.

Tier 9) Shell Storm - Extreme Damage, Targetted AoE (Lethal/Energy), Knockdown, Stun, Self -Recovery.
An Autocannon fired on full auto is a terrifting spectacle, not to mention a deafening one. Shell Storm inflicts extreme damage on all opponents caught in the blast, stunning them and possibly knocking them to the floor. Such a barrage is incredibly taxing on your weapon, however, leaving you unable to recover endurance for a while.
(Note! This does NOT cause you to end crash, but it DOES stop your recovery)

So, there we have it. I suddenly though, why don't sniper attacks cause fear? I mean, thats what tends to happen with long range attacks from out of the blue, right? Make sense to me...*shrug*

    Anyway, big weapons please?

What /EA can do is provide an end hungry AT with enough endurance even without the fitness pool. That's a lot of powers you don't need to take on an EA brute (I still do, but at least players had a solid option).

There were a very few sets that didn't need fitness before. In the case of /EA, that was almost (not quite totally) all it provided by way of unique advantages.

    That's a lost relative advantage.
...Thats false on so many levels. Thats assuming that no one else took Stamina on their Brutes/Stalkers... Heck, people still take fitness atm with Willpower and Regen, and I bet a few take it with EA anyway.
The changes just means that EA is doubly good at keeping end. Stamina doesn't magically make all your endurance problems go away. It just means your not absolutely smegging useless past level 20.

Woh, woh, easy on the caps and high horse please. I never said you had less slots, anywhere. And, actaully, it's kinda hard to take powers that don't require slots. I like to at least get some use out of powers I take without them sucking.

I'm saying these changes will require some build tweaks. And I've still never been sure why the last two powers have always been slot starved in comparison to others at the high end. Still, I didn't design it *shrug*

Now fair enough, that alone would be me being "over dramatic" about this situation. Unfortunately it has become apparent to me that a lot of the arguments between some of the RP'ers here are primarily based on a general dislike of each other because of some past history ether of some argument/fight over something involving this game and in some cases, more personal matters (And no, I am not going to name names or try to sly a pointed finger at anyone!).
It may be fair enough for the characters creator to not mind the consequences. But they alone aren't the only ones that would have been effected by this.

Let me try and slap it into diagram form, 'cos my description tends to get too convuluted.

    ONLY POSSIBLE OUTCOME;
Death/destruction of every character in the Court.

This is unless the universe was god-moded further and saying 'Oh, they couldn't kill us all, etc etc'. It would happen. US armed forces, Freedom Phalanx, a bunch of other Hero and possibly even Villain SGs, ALL versus the Court. They would ALL die.

And thats simply not fair on all the other players who are in it. I personally don't mind the Court; it's another RP super group, whats to dislike? I may not see eye to eye with all the players that are part of it, but thats niether here nor there. I can't just shrug and wave away the destruction of a SG full of other peoples chars, nor can I just fudge it to 'oh they ran away' or some fail reasoning like that. It had to be fixed to avoid breaking.

That's what I take issue with more so than anything else. Personal animosity towards someone is going to inevitably poison a reasonable group debate and potentially drag others into rivalries they don't ever need to be dragged into. So yes, there are some here arguing for the sake of it because they just do not like each other.

Can't speak for anyone else but I have already made it known on other areas of the RP forum that I hate being dragged into that sort of crap and feel I am forced to choose sides, to which I end up choosing nether and walk away from it all.
I've probably made it fairly clear before who I don't see eye to eye with. But I'm never going to let that get in the way of RP so long as the RP is being handled ok. God-moding an entire setting isn't being handled ok, frankly. CB changed it and was agreeable and decent about it. Others...weren't. I'm going to leave it at that. But I for one am arguing for the sake of 'Stuff not being snarfed up on a Unionverse level', not just because I don't like people.

Now for the charge of saying people were over analysing when they were not.....

    0_o

They were going onto Long Island NY, district council websites to try to say that a school wouldn't hold that many students anyway and that none of them would have been there at that specific point. And then went as far to suggest that Tomb's psychological personality was inaccurate because that mentality would not manifest in a person until she reached her 20's!....among other things.

What on Earth would be classed as over analysing?

Could be said I don't have to get involved in any of this if I am so iffy about it. Thing is I wasn't really expecting to get dragged into all this as virtue of allowing my SG and toons to get itself into Open Season. Then again, no one wants to be accused of being someone who takes their ball and goes home.

    I need vodka.
The fact about the schools numbers and them being on or just off holiday was valid. The over-analysis of Tomb? Yeah, what I said; over-analysis. The world can be pretty messed up, people! But theres a difference between one messed up character and actively messing up a game setting.

    Did ya get your vodka?

    Exactly.

    The same.

    No change.

    Identical.

You won't get any more slots, but you [/i]will have 3 more powers[/i] to use. You can opt to move/put slots into those powers, or not. If you don't, your build will remain the same, except with 3 more utility/situational/fun powers.
No, he's actaully right on this one.
Think about it, at current, say my DP/Psi blaster has all her powers and the fitness trio. That works just fine.

Now Fitness is made Inherent powers. So I have the exact same powers, and as you said the three new ones. Say I take boxing, tough and weave.

I now need to find the slots to put in tough and weave (boxing I'll leave at one) to make them actually worth having. And thats if I dont want to keep Health and Stamina 3 slotted.

So, there will indeed be a slot 'shortage' as it were. It won't affect every AT or every set the same way, but some may find it trickier to balance than others.

Still in full support of it, but it may lead to some radical build re-shufflings across the board.

As for balance how much armour is enough to make the concept work, while at the same time keeping the damage out put in line ? take for example the Defender level of damage , would that be higher or lower than your example of a DP/SR ? what about compared to a Corr ? to fit a DP/SR into the exsisting AT structure would be tricky to do in such a way as to make the DP/SR a viable AT.
Give 'em VEAT scales. Veat's have decent damage output and a decent defence output. That way both the defence and res based sets would scale to a level that was more balanced.

And *I* damn well play a Huntsman variant on my bane! Pre-24 SoA's simply aren't that bad, especially once you get the holy AoE barrage that is AoE Web, Venom grenade, Frag and Heavy Burst. Stuff dies. And it ain't you. After 24 they just get nastier. Hide? More armour? The chance to get critical damage for jamming a bayonet in someones ribs?
    Nuff said.
  21. Ok, I actually do see what people mean by the 'tightness' that builds may face without the Fitness pool in there.

Because, really, 1 inherent slot in swift or hurdle, 1 base and +2 in health, 1 base and +2 in Stamina.

Now, instead of taking them, I can take, say, boxing, tough and weave on my DP/Psi blaster.
Boxing? Stays the same. Tough? On basic SOs it needs + 3 slots (2 res, 2 end red) and ditto for Weave. Thats another two slots moved from somewhere else.
It gets tougher when you go to IO, as theres more stuff that needs some slotting, but...it gets a little hard to juggle.

I'm still all for the changes. Im estatic that it's finally happened. I just understand where people are coming from with the 'tight builds' comment, and it is still a valid point. We may just need to work around it a little is all.

See, this is the problem; people are so deadset that armour instantly has to mean scrapper or tanker levels of tough.

We already have a blast/armour AT. The VEATs. People blithering on about how 'Oh, a ranged/armour AT would be OP, tankmage!!1' No they aren't! Niether the HEATs or VEATs are OP'd! But they have blasts, they have armour. Why is it so hard to move that to, say, a DP/SR? Energy/Invul? Fire blast/Fire armour? It could be balanced. And I still hope it happens one day. I'd have to break my metaphorical piggy bank on character slots...

If you can't back it with game play mechanics, don't do it. We aren't playing pen and paper after all.
For the most part I'd agree. I do get annoyed when the game simply won't allow cerain concepts (Like Jen Kerringer, who would be a DP/SR 'Something', but I can't do that. So bleah. I guess I'll mess around with her slotting more when I19 comes around)

PnP nothing, 'Lev. I've never PnP'd in my life, and I think the original death toll was jsut plain daft. It left no room at all for any other outcome other than 'Total war on the Court, resulting in their destruction'. The original figure was only a k short of the 9/11 attacks, and all of the victims were kids.

I...really am struggling to see why people have a problem with why it was asked to be changed. I personally was quite interested in not seeing the chaos that would ensue when an entire SG was asked to disband and delete their toons, due to having been hunted down and exterminated by the US, UN and Heroes/Villains of the Isles. That was the only outcome that those figures could allow. Anything else would just be a god-moding counter-godmode spiral. And I dont want to go into that, cos we'll be here all day.

The attack? Fine. I have no problem with it. The plot? Again, no problem. Tomb? She's creepy as hell, and thus I find her an interesting and so far well written character. She might not be to everyones tastes, but thats perfectly normal.
