Includes:
A serial code for account creation.
Access to the full City of Heroes® game via downloadable client.
Full City of Villains™ game.
One month of game time. Activation with a valid credit card or game time card is required.

Game card is an upfront charge, but you do get your free month. Otherwise...
They don't put this warning on GvE page, though
And yes, although I understand security reasons and bysantine rules of online payments cause that, not NCSoft being so cheap they're after your 9 euros... It's still not fair. Maybe they could provide discouinted ver without the free time forr those who can't claim it... -
Rucksacks/jetpacks/some weird looking thingies (like lump of cyborg/SP/clocwork/bio stuff on the back)... Jetpacks would work like wings, - special animation in the air, but no other effect, maybe unlockable together with their counterpart power. (So, jump-pack lookalike would be GvE item, pseudo-raptor after Atlas bank, etc...) The only problem as I see it would be replacing costume pack with the "real" version when jetpack power is activated and that they won't look good together with wings...

Technically you don't have to pay. You just have to register to play.
The 'free game time' gets used up before any paid for game time gets charged, so your friend could cancel the payment before the free month is up (like NOW), and will still have access to the full game features for the free time included with the game purchase.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it only works that way with credit cards now.
All other methods do charge upfront, and sometimes you don't even get your free month. (They warn you of that in small print at the bottom of the order page.) -
Love the name And the whole idea of -fly PBAoE.

No, it's Penumbra Elite's grenades blasts caused too much brain damage...
Over-excitement after all-night soloing finally paying off. And yes, what Thyristor said was what I meant.

After lots of grinding, some XP debt and money for the cyborg pack, I've got my cossie just as I wanted it... Only to discover slots, and all the possibilities binding them implies... Not just wings, but RETRACTABLE wings? Hey, I need that Back to grinding

If you want to experience team play but are levelling too quickly you could always wait until you're a level or so above the mission level and form a small team of players maybe 3 or 4 levelss lower than yourself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or you may ask for someone to exemplar you... That way you get temporarily get back to whatever level your group has, earn no inf or XP, except for debt payoff, if no debt, you get INF but no XP. -
HARgoyle... Anyone catching the reference played too many games for too long... (Although OMF2097 Gargoyle was much taller and more robotic.)

Atlas is a player hub. There's always someone there. 11 people in the busiest zone in the game, at any time, is pretty dire IMO.

Well, 4-6 AM isn't 'any time' especially for server where most players are from close TZs, anyone who stays that late/rises that early on weekdays to play computer game is well... Chronic insomniac like me (EDIT: Yes, I was one of those 3 ), or real fanatic. So, teen/low tens count at that time isn't any kind of disaser, IMO.
(and the alternative is server where "hottest" time is when you should have been sleeping... Been there, done that, hated it guts. All the cool events scheduled so that you can't participate, for one.) -
and "back" button in Opera now works again as it should. Excellent! (in wikia you had to click it 3 times to get 1 page back for some odd reason.)

Personally I’d like everyone to say, “Please may I have a buff when you get chance to do it?” but I suspect typing that out would cause more deaths.

That's why I never play fantasy MMOs... Chatspeak is necessary, especially in combat, but all those TYs, OMWs, Plz, etc., just don't mix with high fantasy, IMO. But in CoX we have mobile phones and holodisplays, so why not chatspeak?
That said, I don't like it outside of combat too... -
http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Negotiator_Badge Ok, I can see some superheroes solving the issue by just shooting both gangs, but, well... Calling that "negotiation" is too Clint Eastwoodishly cynical...
-
Well, I know it probably "harder than it seems"[tm] but customizable shaders of costume pieces would be very nice thing to have. (So odd combinations like metallic cloth, or plastic armor, etc would be possible. ) Even better would be to haave different shaders for primary/secondary colors, and (totally pie in the sky) chrome shader.
(E.g. I wanted to use "insect" boots with robot character... But look is a bit off, because of different shaders... Or make secondary color true gold instead of yellow for a rich robe...)
I understand that shaderless cards are still supported, so it may cause problems there, esp. with chrome, but it would be soo nice... -
Although (5) is almost always a bad idea, for a lot of reasons, it is _sopmetimes_ doable if both dev teams coordinated their development from the beginning. But generally, that's not the case, and even then is much harder than it sounds to a non-programmer.
-
Oh, it isn't that sort of thing... It's just that arrows don't look cool enough (Archery/Device blaster...) OTOH they don't obscure what's going on by tons of FX...
-
Ok, all solved, UK ver downloaded, NV card installed instead of builtin, and tutorial + one solo mission completed... Works fine so far... although I'm not sure I made a good char...
-
As a totally crazy experiment I tried to launch it under WINE. It didn't work wall, it seems that WINE DirectX doesn't have some necessary functions, but when game warned mi of mismatched requirements, it displayed that minimal cards are now Intel 910/GF 6xxx/Ati 9200... So it seems that linked requirements are out of date...
Anyway, I did a stupid thing and just got cheap NVidia 7300 card, not really good for gaming either, but It doesn't glitch all the time. I'd buy something more powerful later...
Ty all. -
Yes, I've seen those specs, they say Intel is supported. And TBH, CoX isn't exactly Crysis or whatewer in terms of graphics to require "gaming" PC to run.
As for my PC being rubish, - well, as I said when I bought it a year or so ago I didn't think I'd ever want to play anything again except, maybe 2000 stuff for notalgia value, was on a budget and it was big improvement from a 2001 heap of rubbish with 256 mb ram. And it cost less than that EEEPC, which is nearly as good as free for a new PC... -
[ QUOTE ]
I would stuff the warranty. A machine with specs that low aint worth having a warranty anyway. As it is it is basically useless for anything but "vintage" gaming.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, now when I think about it... I do have EEEPC now and in an emergency it could do everything else I need, for a month or so, with proper mouse, keyboard and monitor... So the only reason I haven't done that already is kind of no longer here...
OTOH, I don't really game that much now, so I don't want to spend too much on upgrades. What is _reasonable_ gaming vidcard nowadays? Something that surely will work with most games of 2008-2009, if not that fast, I'm rather tolerant of low FPS.
P.S. No ATI, there are some issues with ATI and one other program I use, -
One that places "Warranty void" seal on the case. They can install new hardware in their own service centre, it doesn't even cost anythng extra, but, well, nearest one is placed just so that I'd have to spend the whole day on something I can do myself in 5 minutes
And yes, it's SOP here and it's legal. I knew assembling my own was a better idea, but this one was on sale... Besides, I'm a bit lazy.
BTW, _game's speed_ and even graphics quality are fine, except for that. And the issue isn't lack of pixel shaders or something, it's a standard bit blit not working , as far as I can tell. Oh, well, I do understand that it's easy to fix anything as long as you aren't one doing it, but still... -
No, It isn't laptop, but unfortunately its warranty makes it next worst thing as far as upgrades are concerned Besides, it does everything else I want just fine, so I don't plan to upgrade it either in at least half a year.

What I tried: Higher& lower resolutions, gamma 0-300, windowed mode, details settings, - does not do anything.
Safe mode displays NO UI AT ALL,
So I'm out of ideas... Is there anything else I can do* -
Ok, re-downloading seems to be caused by that EU/US confusion. Although file called ftp://client.coh.com/CohUpdater.EU.zip should be an EU updater...
Anyway, I still have "invisible bars" problem... But I'll write on that into technical.
