Is this a laptop? It's looks like it's a video driver issue, and with that onboard chipset, I don't think you'll get much better out of it as you're pretty much borderline for the minimum spec for the game.

No, It isn't laptop, but unfortunately its warranty makes it next worst thing as far as upgrades are concerned Besides, it does everything else I want just fine, so I don't plan to upgrade it either in at least half a year.
Well, you're going to need to add a decent video card to that if you want to play any games. I can't think of ANY warranty that wouldn't allow you to install a video card though. Installing cards in PC's is standard stuff!

One that places "Warranty void" seal on the case. They can install new hardware in their own service centre, it doesn't even cost anythng extra, but, well, nearest one is placed just so that I'd have to spend the whole day on something I can do myself in 5 minutes
And yes, it's SOP here and it's legal. I knew assembling my own was a better idea, but this one was on sale... Besides, I'm a bit lazy.
BTW, _game's speed_ and even graphics quality are fine, except for that. And the issue isn't lack of pixel shaders or something, it's a standard bit blit not working , as far as I can tell. Oh, well, I do understand that it's easy to fix anything as long as you aren't one doing it, but still...
The issue is likely to be a combination of low/shared video texture memory, and poor drivers... The Intel stuff really is rubbish for modern games and is more suited to presentations etc. I'm assuming you've tried updating the drivers?

I would stuff the warranty. A machine with specs that low aint worth having a warranty anyway. As it is it is basically useless for anything but "vintage" gaming.
I really should do something about this signature.

Well, now when I think about it... I do have EEEPC now and in an emergency it could do everything else I need, for a month or so, with proper mouse, keyboard and monitor... So the only reason I haven't done that already is kind of no longer here...
OTOH, I don't really game that much now, so I don't want to spend too much on upgrades. What is _reasonable_ gaming vidcard nowadays? Something that surely will work with most games of 2008-2009, if not that fast, I'm rather tolerant of low FPS.
P.S. No ATI, there are some issues with ATI and one other program I use,
Most modern games want high spec video cards for the special functions they have, such as shader model 2.0 or 3.0 support, not for speed. They simply won't display properly without those functions.

Minimum specs here: http://eu.plaync.com/eu/games/info/city_of_heroes/
TBH that machine shouldn't have been on sale, they should have been paying you to take it away.
Yes, I've seen those specs, they say Intel is supported. And TBH, CoX isn't exactly Crysis or whatewer in terms of graphics to require "gaming" PC to run.
As for my PC being rubish, - well, as I said when I bought it a year or so ago I didn't think I'd ever want to play anything again except, maybe 2000 stuff for notalgia value, was on a budget and it was big improvement from a 2001 heap of rubbish with 256 mb ram. And it cost less than that EEEPC, which is nearly as good as free for a new PC...
Dont need to repeat what others have said so wont patronise you there.
Looking at those min specs Lost posted I have a small thought that they may not be the updated specs. The game is near on 5 years old now and through the various issues the gfx have been updated somewhat and the min specs if I remember correctly did change. But I could be totally off the mark here.
Just a quick thought though.
They did update it since launch, I think with i7 but not 100% sure it hasn't been updated since.
As for chipset I misunderstood, thought you said 745 not 945.
As a totally crazy experiment I tried to launch it under WINE. It didn't work wall, it seems that WINE DirectX doesn't have some necessary functions, but when game warned mi of mismatched requirements, it displayed that minimal cards are now Intel 910/GF 6xxx/Ati 9200... So it seems that linked requirements are out of date...
Anyway, I did a stupid thing and just got cheap NVidia 7300 card, not really good for gaming either, but It doesn't glitch all the time. I'd buy something more powerful later...
Ty all.
