Quote:I have made my case more than once, and in personal chat.I don't seem to recall telling you what you should and shouldn't want. In fact, I pretty much explicitly said the opposite. I said I'm tired of hearing the same requests (for Scrapper Ninjitsu specifically) with the same lack of support behind the arguments and if it was up to me, it wouldn't happen. And I could care less about Shield either - by performance it's one of the better sets when fully kitted out but I just don't like how it actually looks so I have all of 2 Shield characters, neither of which I play much.
Since it's not up to me, you just have to make a real case to the devs. But you haven't made any case, you've just been whining.
I also have 2 SD characters, and just don't like the way it looks. I want Nin for scrapper because I have concepts I want to play that would use nin. I like the set, and the spiffy things that it does, which includes Caltrops, smoke flash, and blinding powder. I have never been a fan of SD and I may never be.
Quote:You have a level 50 Ninjitsu Stalker, but insist that Scrappers should have it. So I take that to mean that you refuse to make another Ninjitsu Stalker in order to play the set on the AT it was built for, instead insisting that the status quo be changed to suit your personal desires.
The only reason I responded to you at all is because you accused me of whining, which I found offensive, and still do.
All I am doing is trying to get something more (I don't even want a huge buff) for the AT I like the most. Much like the stalker players did for years. You want whining? Go read some of those threads.
As for my builds, plenty of them are listed on the scrapper and now stalker boards, feel free to take a look. Hey, feel free to take a look at any of my posts, where I pretty much remain respectful to others (in most cases), and stay away from personal insults. You may learn something from them, as that seems to be something you are struggling with.
Note: Now that I can play stalkers blue side, I am sure I will have more of them. The only problem I have ever had with the AT was red side. I dislike the content and the environment there. At this point the AT plays just like a scrapper except with better Crits, and less AOE in some sets, which means that it is more fun. Which I also said all through this thread. -
Quote:I do have a lvl 50 Nin/Nin stalker, I also have a lvl 50 MA/SR stalker. Both incarnates. As you know jack squat about me, don't bother telling me what I should play. And you sure as hell have no room to tell me what I should want. You're welcome to the utter crap that is Stalker Energy Melee - complete with reduced-/non-critical Total Focus and Energy Transfer and nerfed stun rates.
Ninjitsu I've posted about before - I'd prefer each AT have one unique set but that's not how the devs felt like dealing with proliferation, so my "compromise" is until Stalkers get Shield there's no justification to give it to Scrappers claiming they "need it" that doesn't come down to "I'm too whiny to play a Stalker to play a ninja (but I'll complain about how Stalkers are too similar to Scrappers now!)" and Scrappers should be the last melee AT to get the set purely out of my being sick of reading all of the threads about "when are Scrappers going to get Ninjitsu". And it should be ported exactly as-is, with Hide (on an AT where the kMeter is meaningless so it's only a suppressed stealth/minor defense toggle), Smoke Flash, and Caltrops; no replacing them with something that Scrappers might find more useful. Because otherwise you're not getting Ninjitsu, you're getting "a positional defense set with click mez protection and other tools" - which is exactly what you already have with Shield (which Stalkers didn't get).
I don't give a flying fart in space if Stalkers get shield, I didn't when it was released, and I don't now. Why not every other power Scrappers have have been given to the other Melee AT's. But bring up Ninjitsu and this is the reaction every time.
It is the "I should get to play with your toys, but you can't play with mine." Stalkers ahve gotten everything else Scrappers have, and in some cases better versions of it. Crits I am looking at you.
You argument is one of the worst here. When stalkers got Broad Sword the devs lost any justification they may have had in not giving scrappers any power set any of the other ATs have.
I have more, but you have already pissed me off enough. I will leave it at this. Hell yeah Scrappers should get Nin, because Stalkers got Broad Sword. -
Quote:It would be hard. You would have to contact CS because I think there is a $400 limit for card purchases in the store. I guess you could spread it out across different cards, but that may take a while.I bet if you actually did buy 60 million dollars worth of Paragon Points, they would have no problem making a powerset for you
Now, if had that kind of money I would do it. -
The only alternate animations Street Justice needs is a Thai Round kick for Seeping Cross, and a Jumping Knee for Crushing Uppercut.
Past that the set is perfectly animated imo. However, if you want to add this to a thread all about alternate animations I will point you to here.

Please say your piece. -
If I felt like it I guess I could dig through posted builds and see who has it. Thought I would just ask instead. Do you take confront on your scrappers?
My own answer is no. I never take it, it is that one power I can skip that makes me feel better about the fact that I have to take Boxing or Kick to get tough.
How about you, do you take confront, or skip it? -
Quote:This covers it pretty well.well, since this thread is about alt animations, thats fine, you would have the option to use some or all the the new animations in conjunction with the adapted db ones, or if it didnt fit the char, you could stay entirely unchanged. part of the appeal of alt anims relative tot he strength of coh is that you can pick and choose what fits you. just like your costume, just like your effects.

I would say drop it completely, and stick an attack there. Give every scrapper set a ranged, or ranged like attack in that spot.
Katana and BS should have an attack like shield bash. Give MA Forms, or a fire ball, well you get the idea. Or Stick superior conditioning there. -
Quote:Don't post things like this on the internet. When buildings start to go up in your area they will use this post against you. J/KI'm addicted to fire. 2 fire blasters, 2 fire corruptors, 2 fire scrappers, an earth/fire dom, a fire/kin controller, and an ss/fire brute. Several other toons also have the fire epic pools.
I also play a lot of /wp, and I've rolled several energy aura toons since the changes, though most are low level. -
Energy Armor and Street Justice. It is all I an do not to use one of these on every melee toon I have made since i21.
Guess it is a good thing though, because EA used to be avoided like the plague. Now I look at and think "I can do it ALL with this!" -
Quote:I would prefer new animations, but I could also live with some retro fitting. There are surely DB animations that could work with claws.Wasn't the reason for people being angry because they were in GR beta for a good couple of weeks, and Posi even said something at a con saying how we'd get new dances with GR, then they got pulled and put into an overpriced pack that only had eight emotes in it? I remember a lot of people saying they'd pay for them, just not as much as Paragon was charging.
Anyway, on topic, I agree we do need alternate animations for older sets. Variety is good, and we have tons of animations built up already. Just rework some of them to fit with animation times of powers and I'd be set. I, at least, am not asking for entirely brand spanking new animations for each power. I just want to be able to play Fiery Melee or Broadsword without seeing my character move horribly slow and clunky. -

Whatever they do it, I will test if they let me.

yup, here they are.

My main is a KM/Ela Scrapper and he is a beast. However the lack of a taunt aura in LF is VERY frustrating. AVs will run from it, which will make you want to beat your head on a wall.
There have been several times I had considered re-rolling him as a Brute, but I had already started badge collecting, and everyone said KM sucked on brutes compared to scrappers.
One thing I would like to bring up though is Power Sink. At lvl 50 it will bottom out all but an AV's end bar, and LF can keep it there. That adds a lot more to survivability than it is given credit for. With the right combo of Incarnate powers I have bottomed out the end of GMs and kept it there. -
Quote:Can we have our junk back?He IS trying not to cry. Did you see how much they Statesman'd the poor guy?
But Really love the rocket pack and the bubble helmet. I will buy the bundle on day one. I am not a huge fan of the genera, but there is enough there that I can mix into other costumes.
Great work Dink, most of all though thank you so much for sharing the process with us! Seeing behind the curtain is so cool! -
Quote:I bought them too. I put my money where my mouth/finger was. This thread reminds me of when people said they'd be willing to buy dance animations, then when the dance animations came out everyone flipped out that Paragon was charging money for dance animations.
Then BaBs got fired.
There is a difference here that makes that and this thread apples and oranges. The old method was to sell bundles and those bundles were set at $10 came with costumes, and a power, and CC emotes. The dance pack lacked some of those things and complaints came.
The paragon store allows for a different transaction type, in that people can buy part of what they want, w/o buying all of it. I believe those dance animations could be purchased separately, or part of the PD pack recently.
I know I would pay 800 points for a Broad sword animations set, because that would turn broad sword into a NEW set to me. I don't care that the mechanics would be the same, it would LOOK different.
Another option would to be to sell the animations like they do costume parts. Piece by piece, or in a bundle. For melee I would always buy the bundle personally, but some want just one or two animations.
I love Street Justice. It is my all time favorite power set in this game. However, I really wanted, and begged for during beta, a Thai Round Kick animation for Sweeping Cross, I would still be willing to pay for that animation.
Quote:So yes, some tweaking would be needed. But at the same time, I'd be willing to pay for that tweaking. -
Quote:All the alternate punches for MA look like untrained haymakers to me.It's funny you mention this, because I was just saying last night how I actually liked the alternate punches for MA because they were not as "smooth and flowing" as the Street Justice animations. All of the MA animations, including most of the punches, give me a sense that the character knows how to apply a focused amount of force into a single strike, much like a martial artist should. Where as Street Justice's attacks give me more of a "practiced brawler" or kick-boxer vibe.
-
I hope at some point they will share some of the StJ animations with MA, if StJ had been purchased that is.

Quote:This is a very very fair statement. The reason I like scrappers so much is because they fit what I feel my favorite comic book characters are.I was under the impression that all sets would be ported eventually.
Im still not getting this whole "give scrappers something unique" thing. Brutes are unique, but you would rather play a scrapper. Stalkers are unique, but you would rather play a scrapper. Every AT has something unique, but you would rather play a scrapper. Scrappers must already be something unique, or you wouldn't love them so much.
Boss, I don't want some crazy mechanic. Shoot, the only idea I have had that I really like is giving them a higher end total.
What I get is that people like them how they are because they are simple. I don't want that to change either.
As for power proliferation, it kind of a wait and see thing. :/ -
-
They are fine. What they lack is anything that in uniquely theirs. That is what EG states, and what I have been trying to get across also. Scrappers don't even have a power set that they don't share with the other melee ATs.
He also points out in another thread that all but 3 of the stalker primaries have AoEs or Cone attacks.
Everyone keeps saying it is no big deal that stalkers and scrappers share crits. How would all you pro stalker folks feel about scrappers getting Energy Melee and Ninjitsu? -
An endurance buff. Give them Superior conditioning as part of their inherent. Have it grant +5 end total every 10 levels. So that at lvl 50 scrappers have 125 base endurance. That is what I would do.

Try to find out how much the IP is. Oh to be boss. There would be new animations...and clown summoning! Just kidding on the last.
