Now I do hope they add some sort of bank so that I can give inf to my other toons but this current system was never supposed to be used in that way so I didn't expected it to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
I remeber back in beta for COV and an open questionaire with States back then... I stated that there should be a treasury in the SG bases, with specific access authorization. IE enter player names that could access the treasury (very SWG, but it worked).
I still stand by a treasury of sorts. -
[ QUOTE ]
Player A1 puts up a Level 12 TO for 5,000,000 inf.
Player B1 puts up the same Level 12 TO for 1,000 inf.
Player A2 (trying to transfer funds) offers to buy that level 12 TO for 5,000,000 inf.
Since player B1 wants less, and is obviously trying to move his items faster, his "for sale" is processed first, so he ends up with 5,000,000 inf (minus fees).
[/ QUOTE ]
but if the auctions are labeled by server/player names, then wouldnt we obviously be able to which one to buy? -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't see how you can be griefed if someone intercepts the auction.
I mean, the only way to transfer influence to a lowbie on another server is for the lowbie to list something simple, like a lvl 10 TO at 2 mil infl.
Then you get on your rich guy on another server a buy it, thus giving the lowbie the 2 mil -%7.
If I step in and buy that 2 mil TO before your alt does, did I not in essence just give your lowbie 2 mil for nothing?
You can't put up an auction for infl.
What I mean by that is, you can't say, I am selling 2 mil infl for 30 infl, thats just stupid.
The only griefing that could happen is you listing something expensive like an HO to get to an alt on another server for say 2 mil infl and someone else buys it, but then that is your fault for having the list price so low.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT
Well said. And I hope the devs dont prevent this from happeneing cuz my alts on different servers need that influence -

* Some of the sets (the rarer ones), have parts of them that are only attainable by completing a Story Arc.
Now I hear you guys... you all seem to dislike the Story Arc aspect of this system. I've had some discussions with the team yesterday about what we could do instead, and still keep the flavor of the four pool system, because having the extra three pools allows us to not only reward risk/reward, but time/reward as well. Takes longer to do a Task Force? Here's a nice bonus you can't get anywhere else. Finish the Respec trial, but already have all your Respecs? Here's a nice reward that carries with it some good inherent value.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dr. I dont mind this, AS LONG AS our old and outdated contacts (especially for us 20-50's)allow us to go back and complete the story arcs/missions.
Even if we autoexemp like in TF's, im ok with that, Im sure its not as easy as it sounds to make this happen, but you allow this to happen post i9 but before i10, i think this will be a non issue. -
best issue yet!
ive said it once, and ill say it again, you sir are very talented! cant wait for the next one! -

Now, its popular to bash WoW around here in some quarters, and I'm sure the game has its flaws. But with seven million subscribers (according to their advertising anyways), there's probably something for CoH to learn from WoW.

So tell me, Deathstrike, what does the playerbase want right now?
More costume pieces? Well people are complaining that the devs are wasting their time on those.
More high level content? Well people are complaining that they'd rather run alts or low levels than focus on a loot-heavy end game.
More missions? People say it's all the same mission, just different enemies and textures now.
Faster updates with fewer bugs? Do you really think cutting down on the development time would mean less bugs? Do you really think that making a new issue every 3 months wouldn't drastically cut back on the amount of content each issue had?
[/ QUOTE ]
well im not deathstroke but to address this:
a. Id prefer more costume pieces with every issue and sometimes in between. (and didnt that poll by cricket/lighthouse, have new costume pieces in 1st or 2nd place? as for what poeple really like?)
b. I want both high level content and mid level content. theres a lot of 1-25 content.
c. missions are fine, except when you spend an hour looking for that 1 glowie in the room you checked 5 bajillion times.
d. more updates but less in size. ( faultline in sept/oct., safegaurd missions coulda been out in oct, and vet rewards soince that has been the main hold up coulda came out in november/early december.
d. could be feasible, giving new content every couple months, the player base would have been really happy if the safegaurd missions and faultline were separated from the vet rewards and each other. we would be able to experience all these new features while waiting for the other content.
but the devs have always tied everything into one patch, and when 2/3 of it is done, they cant release it because that 1/3 is tied into the code. and stalls EVERYTHING. you think they would have learned by now.
oh well. I still give props to the devs, i think we still have the best development team, with SWG and WOW coming in DEAD last. CO* ftw!!! -

Release: 4/27/04
Issue #1: Through the Looking Glass (June 29, 2004)
Issue #2: Shadows of the Past (September 16, 2004)
Issue #3: A Council of War (January 4, 2005)
Issue #4: Colosseum (May 4, 2005)
Issue #5: Forest of Dread (August 31, 2005)
Issue #6: Along Came a Spider (October 27, 2005)
(City of Villains (released October 31, 2005))
Issue #7: Destiny Manifest (June 6, 2006)
Issue 8 - late Nov/Early Dec.
Anyhow, I don't want to sound completely unhappy. I continue to enjoy the game a lot. Given the hours I spend playing, the $24/month for the two accounts is a blip. But there is this vague feeling of staleness that creeps over it when the updates take so long (I7, I8) or feel anemically lacking on content (I4, for example; which was pretty much only PvP, which quickly manifested so many problems that took a while to fix that it didn't even feel to me like it added anything, even though today I *like* PvP quite a bit). I guess I just want to know what happened to the robust feeling of the updates from the first 9 months or so. Did CoV cause the slow up? And if so, does abandoning plans for more boxed expansions mean the update schedule will begin to look like it's robust former self, or after all the years of development and the 2.5 years of being live, is Cryptic just starting to siphon off resources from the game to plan for End-of-Lifing it in favor of future projects?
[/ QUOTE ]
Although I agree with you that yes it seems like we are getting fewer patches, let us not forget that:
i4 brought in a lot of new art work regarding costumes.
i5 also brought us 2 new power sets.
i6 brought us 3 new zones (yes even though it was planned for COV).
And i8 is going to bring us even more stuff. As I said in another thread, if they broke each issue in mini issues it wouldnt seem so bad. Since vet rewards took the most time, they should have Released Safe gaurd mission back in sept/october, then faultine in october/november, and Vet rewards in late november.
Issues: 8, 8.1, and 8.2 if you like.
But i think its too early to say these are signs that CO* is dying. -
Shoulder mantle needs some fixing. This is the link to the thread.
However, This Link shows specifically the problem with the half mantle.
Thanks Jay!
ps. Jay is sexy! -

What happened was players hated it. Its the most underused facet of the game. It received almost no coverage in the press. And theres nothing like it in any other MMP. Emmerts hypothesis is that people dont like contributing money to a group to express individuality. ... At its heart, these MMPs are individual game experiences in front of a computer terminal.
[/ QUOTE ]
And theres nothing like it in any other MMP
Hmm,
Maybe he should try playing SWG? Just for this specific option SWG has. Granted in SWG it holds no function except for crafting purposes... but... yeah... at least I only have to pay rent for a HUGE lot and I can craft any furniture I like, and any LOOT or special items I receive DOESNT cost me to place them in my own base that I pay rent for. *cough* supergroup items*cough* -

Let me get this straight... <snip>
I've played... 5000 hours, he's played 1000 (arbitrary numbers), but we've paid for the same amount of time... I would receive more Vet rewards than him?

HAHAHAHAHA OMG, i LOL'ed at work and almost got in trouble. thanks for that! LOL -
Loot is almost always a bad idea.
Skills if done correctly can be a great addition to the game. If i remember correctly the Player Base DID want skills ala the universities, but devs couldnt come up with a "fun" concept.
Crafting, now I am biased because I love crafting. And COX has crafting to a certain extent. Once bases are 100% functional youll see more (yes more, cuz ive seen it already) "i need blank Salvage, willing to pay X influence." its happened already. it will happen more.
SWG was successful to apoint because the game had a community, both ingame and out of game. You could craft or dance and have a great time chatting away. It was something that you could do out of combat without leaving the community.
This issue is a double edged sword. Idont see COX getting massively more subscriptions if they added crafting or loot or skills. BUt I dont think the main Player base wants to continually re-roll a character once theyve hit 50. I know i dont and im an altiholic :P With my 50 i would love to see him craft some magical abilites or learn the arts of Magic (skills) and get a % defense or offense against MAgic Origins's. But that requires balancing and a lot of whining from PLayers who want EVERYTHING everyone else can do.
*shrugs* all i can say is Speak for yourself on what you would like, and not everyone else, because we dont all want the same thing, except make COX last forever -
Posi's interview had WAAAAAAAAAAAY more information... this interview really... didnt have anything except a PVP type Mayhem Mission possibly coming after PVP raids happen, which is coming LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATER.
sorry but this interview was...
yeah...

Agreed. I don't understand how some people can get pinched about this, but then some people like being pinched, regardless.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im pinched just because I wont be able to enjoy it.. personally. Why would you have this event on the same weekend as one fo the biggest comic converntions that draws this player base? To bring them back?
Umm, considering people pay money to fly, get hotels, buy badges etc etc, i dont see them running back home and losing out on non refundable items such as these to play for one weekend?
They should have done this next weekend.
COX has a presence at SD Comic Con, advertise double for weekend of July 28th= Possible New subscriptions.
And this way I can get to enjoy the double Xp as well :P
Anyway, just a thought. -
[ QUOTE ]
You all will get emails on it monday. It is happening.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cuppa, why of alll weekends, would this happen on an event as HUGE as Comic Con, and not this weekend? or the weekend after Comic Con?
I love the free XP (double xp) event, but many of us won't be able to enjoy it -
This has to be a joke!
First of all why would they do this on the weekend of the biggest COmic COnventions in the US? Im talking about San Diegos COmic Con.
Someone needs to PM Cuppa or another RED NAME, im sure NC Soft is going to have a presence there and try to market their games, so what better way to do that and say, hey buy our game, and guess what, on sunday night whnen you install it youll have a chance to get double xp for 2 of the 72 hours! WOOHOO!
This is LAME. I am grateful for the double XP event, but on a weekend with a huge event like this, and yes its a huge event, becuase this game caters to COmic Book Fans, hence it being a Superhero MMO.
Come on DEVS! This is RUDE! -

Many have complained that this hinders creativity and roleplaying. After all, not everyone wants to be a villain that works for Arachnos.
[/ QUOTE ]
States, I coulndt agree with you more. However. I dont want to work for his cronies either. But I would like to work for the mooks, hellions, crey, council, etc etc.
And same goes for heroes. Maybe become a member of the Hero Corps or Longbow?
After going up in the ranks you get a special power with that based faction and even an extra Costume slot with their costume? Get special missions where you have to gi into their base and help defend it?
States, do you see anything like this going forward in the future?
p.s. I just got s friend into the game and he loves it! All we do is talk about its flexible customization. States, you and your team have created a wonderful game! Keep up the great work! -
Positron,
Would you and your staff like some pie? *holds out pie* With the storage capability of bases coming in i7, will we be able to store infamy/influence as well? sort of like a treasury with permissions settings? -
maybe the buff will be that when the MM dies, your pets remain! and draw agro so you can use an awaken.
i mean how silly is that? If lex luthor were to die/incapcitated all his employees would drop dead? -
I SAW TRENCH COATS!!!! THEY LOOK AMAZING!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

No trenchcoats! Middle American fashion is still reeling from the double impact of Vampire the Masquerade and the Matrix.

Preach it sister! If you think the endless schoolgirls were bad when issue 4 went live, the thoughts of the army of Neo clones that will plague Rhode Island's most dangerous city the day after Trenchcoats go live sends shivers down my spine.
[/ QUOTE ]
O.o
I bet you guys were the same people complaining about Dragonball Z wannabe's and all the battle of the planet wanna be's (new helmets). oh and the school girl costumes... Oh Pirates! ALL those pirates when COV hit!
Hmm I wonder what happened to all those people...
I KNOW! They got bored with that costume cuz it was cool at the moment and they got to oher costume options.
If you do not want a particular costume piece, fine dont wear it. Let new costume pieces come in the game for those that want them... Why would you want to stop other people from enjoying new "content" as costume pieces? -

Still on back order.

Neither are in I7 (fyi)...BUT Geko and I have talked a little about Shields. We're thinking that Shields would be a Primary AND a Secondary Power Set for Tankers - and a Primary Set for Scrappers...but this thinking might change. I'd imagine the set is mostly about Defense, but again, nothing has been designed yet.

So what, if any, new power sets ARE going into I7?
