Last night at FF...
Shanna arrived at the fountains to find Tam and Richard chatting about something. She was informed that Theo and Issa's baby had been born on the 2nd of March and sent the proud father a congratulatory text. Tam then accused her of cheating at the guessing game when Theo's reply included the baby's name.
There was much giggling over rumours at the fire station and a new sport involving trampolines and swimming pools was invented, although Shanna would really prefer it if her name was kept out of it. People also got to sort of see Jane as she returned to impart vague warnings and pop culture references.
Then she called it a night citing the need to be on her game for more spying and gossip acquisition at the station! -
...itty bitty living space! (Sorry, had to. )
But to make a point for my posting that little bit of silliness...
I personally prefer to avoid actually playing a god regardless of the power level. There are definitely some interesting ideas that have already been brought up in this thread and they are the kind of things I would certainly watch with interest as things develop, but I generally prefer my characters to be a little more...mundane?
My main is certainly very powerful - a botched CoT ritual left her with access to power from a demonic realm, but didn't actually possess her as was the original intention - she has also recently discovered that said ritual made her immortal but (and I would like to stress that) she is not a god, nor will she ever be.
Possibly the only exception to my statement about preferring less god-like characters, is someone I killed off lately (yes, I really did, but that means nothing to any god worth their salt! ). He's snarky, a know-it-all, better than everyone else, will only help if he's in the mood for it and a highly opinionated individual. He's also rather fond of fish.
Oh, and he's a cat. That probably explains it all! -
Personally, I'd go with two things:
1. Wheaton's Law.
2. If you're not having fun, something's wrong. -
Primarily, I'm thinking of Cassandra Baudin - a magic researcher and teacher at PCU. Also thinking of Fea aka Shanna Connell who has very strong views on demons and what should be done about anything connected to them.

Okay, in all seriousness, I think what most people are trying to get at is that there is a general objection to the idea of you attempting to dictate the game world and it's established lore.
You liken your portrayal of established NPCs to an actor playing a part in a Shakespearean play, and while I'm glad you have that kind of confidence in yourself, it brings me to ask: Have you ever actually been in a play? Even in the tightest budget am dram production there are auditions. The director dictates the direction the character is taken, and while an actor will inevitably bring their own spin on a character, they must always do so with the director's blessing.
As for jealousy over the fact that your characters belong to someone else? Um...no. Just no. Definitely no. I, and (I'm sure) everyone who objects to your statements, have several original characters that I came up with and worked into the CoX world. They have been there at major events, they have taken part in invasions of various descriptions, and they all have their own lives and problems to deal with.
I can confidently say that I am at no point envious of what I consider to be a misguided attempt to hijack the lore of CoX.
Of course, I'm sure you will find reasons to disagree with me and call me a WoWtard or whatever, but before you do; did you really expect any other sort of response when you made that first post telling everyone to conform to your view of the world? -
Ooo, looks interesting! I have a couple of heroes who'd definitely get involved as soon as they heard about that!

Quote:I think that's really entirely up to you. Bios can take almost any form. I've seen potted histories of the particular character, origin stories, FBSA (or other organisations) file extracts, or a very brief description of what you would actually be able to tell about the character from looking.Another question is if it's important to put the Real Name/Aliasses in the in-game description? Do people read that? I read it on almost any PC I encounter, if they have one.
As an example, the following is the in game info for my main:
((RP'er))
((Name: Shanna Connell. Age: 26 (but can pass for 18-19)
She speaks with a soft Irish accent, and has quite a nasty hand print shaped burn scar that covers most of her back, which she always keeps uncovered.
She is surrounded by a continuous aura of warmth.
She wears a pretty gold necklace with a pendant made with precious stones.))
I hope that's helpful -
Personally, I would say wait until i23.
As it stands, while he may die in the latest SSA (which I haven't actually played yet, so I don't know the details), the fact is that he's still handing out his TF and turning up all over the place. Until the game world has moved on, it just doesn't make sense to acknowledge his death, especially with the SSA being VIP or paid for content that not everyone will have.
While it will obviously come up in the near future, it makes sense to me that we treat it as an event that has not yet occured, otherwise we're going to have to have a serious re-think about the current state of Skyway, that the Freedom Phalanx has fallen, and the fact that the Rikti and the Praetorian conflicts are very much treading water in terms of current events. To acknowledge his death at this point could easily lead to far more conflict than neccessary.
I suppose when it comes down to it, what I'm trying to say is that if Statesman is considered dead now, it really breaks my suspension of disbelief when I can just pop over to IP and he's hanging out trying to get people to go and take down Recluse.
Just my 2 inf. -
Quote:I know what you mean: Randomly turning up can be rather daunting, not to mention awkward, if your toon has no reason to be going to a bar, which does make things rather difficult. The main advantage of PD though, is that as a place to socialise, it is a natural gathering point.Next to that, as I said, I'm not such a fan of just showing up at Pocket D, some kind of RP story leading to it, would be more suitable in my opinion.
Look forward to seeing you and your friends soon! -
Last night at FF...
The Return!
Shanna arrived at FF and was busy looking through a file that she had been given recently. She was joined after not too long by Squish, and after the obligatory happy new years (as they hadn't seen each other for a while) there was discussion of the well-being of friends and family and of new tattoos.
Shortly afterwards, Richard arrived and the chat turned to monster trucks and if Garmr was capable of squashing three cars at once. The rebuilding of Helena was touched upon along with the complications of Four passing a driving test. There was also musings on the wisdom of building a moat around Huntington Manor, but it was decided that such an improvement would be a Bad Thing. -
Last night at FF...
...Cassandra arrived and informed Richard and Mar (and later Tarvin after he'd turned up) that she may have found a solution to the empty body that's currently secured in the Nachthaus. The main problem being that it would be very risky to get the additional information required, with no guarantee of success in the end.
There was a bit of general chattage, and then there was a grumpy little girl who needed emergency hugs, so I left. -
Last night at FF...
A poor little lost silver tabby kitten was rescued from a tree. He was wrapped up in Richard's cape (which he will never be able to use again now that the kitten's through with it! ) and later a blanket that Keevan was sent to get. After a little uncertainty, he also polished off the saucer of cat milk he was given.
So far, not much is know about him other than the fact that he is a Great Hunter of hands and tails (although he's currently still too wobbly to be a real threat to them) and that he has the good taste to give Theo Attitude.
Once he had curled up to sleep, Ellie took him to the tower to be checked over etc.
Shortly after Ellie and the kitten left, Shanna arrived, having had a falling out with some Malta operatives - for some reason, they didn't seem to understand why she objected to them kidnapping people. There was a little more chat, Shanna was cheered up by tales of Cute, and then she and Richard went off to explain, yet again, to Malta why their usual mode of operations is frowned upon.
After last night we are left with one vitally important question; what will the kitten be called? Lol, Eddy or whatever Tam comes up with?

I know I was only able to run one mission last week before getting called away by RL (Pesky RL! ), but I had a great time!
Any thoughts on when the next one should take place? May I suggest Thursday? -
Sunday night at FF (as the forums were down by the time I got round to posting...)
Shanna arrived to find Tam and Richard discussing Ellie's departure and the hopes of being able to get everyone back home quickly and safely. Tam was highly suspicious of a big ol' robot brain-inna-jar guy who was looking for the hotdog vendor before briefly joining in the conversation. As it turns out, Dr Richard Heddingly(?) was quite a nice chap although his current form was no longer quite dexterous enough for him to continue his work as a neurosergeon. The question over how on earth he was going to actually eat his hotdog was answered when he put it in a slot just below his mouthpiece!
The good doctor left, and Cara arrived shortly after. Shanna decided that as she'd missed lunch and dinner, she was having pizza! The idea of which perked Tam up rather a lot. After taking requests, Shanna headed off and RaurĂ arrived (after having met and teased Shanna at the pizzeria over the number she was ordering) bearing pepperoni pizza and a bag of peanut butter cups for Helena to add to her slices. He was mean to Tam and refused to share, stating that the potential wrath when he got home with only a partial pizza was not worth it.
He left and Shanna returned with vegetable goodness. News was confirmed. There was chat about how boys were only after one thing, how Richard needed to be called a dirty old man, and about Tam not leaving any leftover pizza for anyone else.
And then everyone went home.

Last night at FF...
Shanna arrived to find Mar, Alex, Keevan and Ellie discussing the successful return of Toppa, yay! (Mean Forse is obviously saving the Mean for later! )
There was talk of Christmas presents and the good news of everyone making it home okay. Mar thanked Shanna for the previous night's pizza as he'd got to have some for breakfast!
...And my brain shut down at various points, so I know I have missed quite a few points. -
Agreed! People definitely care!
I hope things sort themselves out soon, and I look forward to more plot based shenanigans! -
I really like this idea. Especially as, with my rather limited game time, I don't have that much of a chance to actually play. I have a few toons that are currently languishing in the 30s and 40s who could really do with more levels!
Any thoughts on a particular night of the week? Personally I don't think anything should be set in stone, but it might be good to pick a night to get the ball rolling, as it were. -

To Catch a Demon
Isaiah Creed received word from Cassandra Baudin that her tracking spell had been a success, giving her the location of a warehouse in Independence Port. She also warned that there was a large magical trace around the building and that the team should expect heavy resistance.
Upon arrival, Richard went ahead to distract the demon, while the rest of the team caught up. It was not long before a hostage had been found and freed. Dr Nathaniel King, a physician and empath who had been kidnapped just after his shift at Crowne Memorial in Kings Row several days before. He did not leave the building, and insisted on helping the heroes where he could. Unfortunately, shortly after being freed, a large group of Circle mages and demons attacked and downed several team members as well as the good doctor. He was mediported to the hospital and the team continued on, now reinforced by the arrival of Michael.
After clearing several parts of the warehouse, the team caught up with Richard and, realising she had been tricked, the demon attacked.
A short but vicious fight later, and the heroes were triumphant in bringing Sha'Atael down. Once Michael had released his binding spells, Isaiah took her to a secure facility to await separation and banishment, while the rest of the team went through the building to check for any more hostages.
Fortunately, there were no more, and the only casualty was Ellie's magic pendant which had protected her in the market several days before.
Upon returning to the fountains, some left shortly after, while the others who stayed got to speak to Issa over web cam via Theo's laptop (which spent a large amount of time balanced on the edge of the pool!) about various subjects, including, but not limited to, things you should never say to a pregnant woman, the fate of previous laptops, and the possibility of Issa borrowing Richard. Shanna also called the hospital and was relieved to find that Dr King was in a serious but stable condition and they were hopeful that he would make a full recovery.
...and then I was falling asleep at the keyboard so I (and Shanna) went to bed.
Thank you to everyone who came along on the mission and for helping me wind up that part of my plot. For anyone who wants to run it, I'll be leaving it up for a few days. "To Catch a Demon" #529631 -
For those who are interested, the mission to capture the demon will go ahead on Friday (25th) at 8:30pm.
I'm hoping that this will give everyone who wants to the chance to get in game and also not take up too much of the evening's RP. -
Right! Assuming nothing goes horribly wrong during testing, the capture mission should be good to go. I'm going to suggest Friday/Saturday at around 8:30 as the options for when to run it.
What are people thoughts? -

Sounds good to me. Unless there's sudden short notice p'n'p gaming on Saturday, I shall be there!
-
I'd certainly be up for it!
-
Thank you to those who were able to make it and I do apologise for the incredibly short notice. Patience is a virtue that I apparently need to do some more work on.
For those who're interested in running it, #528468 Eye of newt, tongue of bat... -
For those who are interested, there will be a short mission tonight. Will be aiming to start at 8pm.
Sorry for the short notice!
