I do hope that this means there will be base access to the AH in future. otherwise I am very jealous and feel extra silly for quitting for a year.

if it only effects my combat table it wouldn't change anything about my pets. Imps are already useless as they are -5 .. I don't see that changing.

are you looking for an influence bid or a real money bid?

are you ashamed of your sg? or just unsure of its name? or are you not a member of the sg and just making this up?

Again bringing me to my malaise over whether the venture is worth doing.

I have nothing to prove. I don't have a need to prove. I was more looking for the fun of the venture. You folks arent making the idea terribly fun at all, lol.
did you read your own post?

"I was willing to take up a challenge but there isnt really one being offered as a whole."
    "I don't have a need to prove. "

so even if there was a challenge ( and I have read several but to your credit none of them simply said " I challenge you" )

you have no need to accept a challenge ?

if buying your way to #1 isn't fun, nothing we can do will make it fun.

however saying you can do it but won't; is hilarious to me. .. dance clown dance, tell me stories of how you have wealth beyond our scope ... and we'll all nod our heads and roll our eyes.

    ...

    I challenge you!

    ETA:
In fact I'll make it easy on you! If facing off to the big bad 88's to too daunting a challenge let's go head to head, you Vs. me, player Vs. player, no holds bard race to the poor house. You Name the server and we'll both get a toon to lv 10 start a sg and burn some inf.

Right -now- a solid IO build is well within the reach of anyone who plays normally. Right -now- I can get a cheap Frankenslotted IO build in the mid-30s with only the money I earned up to that part. My concern is that in future, this won't be that easy anymore.

1.) How do you (or anyone) frankenslot w/o using the market? I can't imagine how long it would take for every io I want to randomly drop. however now that we have A-merits I guess it would take somewhere less than 288 days to earn all the recipes assuming that is all you did and in doing so never got a usable drop

2.) The market is self adjusting becasue there is an infinite amount of drops and influance to be earned. Maybe if I put it this way:

" The more things cost to buy on the market, the more they sell for on the market"

3.) honest to goodness real new players are going to be so overwhelmed learning the game and the story and what not that by the time they even realize how to start in min/max a build and then realized the best stuff costs a lot. Hopefully they were smart enough to learn a.) how to make a lot AND b.) they don't need to top stuff to be a good effective player.

    inv/ss 2nd build

I am not sure how much wiggle room I have as 45% isn't the soft cap to +4 AVs I believe it is closer to 52% add on top of that most AVs have some sort of +to hit ... well you see where I am going.

I have been playing with the numbers and I think I can eek out anther 2 or 3 % Energy.

but that's outside the scope of this thread. I am asking if respecing back into unstoppable is worth it currently or will be in the near future; and I am starting to think that it will be.

I wish it it was easier to test builds out on test server and/or mids covered alpha slot bonuses.

for what it is worth I have about 6 lv 50 purpled toons, and somewhere north of 10 billion inf ( I burnt ~15 bil at the crazy 88s party last week) and I don't feel I am remotely rich either so it is all a matter of perspective.

the value of 1 inf isn't dropping at all SOs cost the same as they always have.

the price of the optional IO sets are going up in price, but seeings as those same IO sets fall from the sky as you play the game there is a balance there. so as you sell the stuff you don't need at the inflated prices to buy the stuff you do want at inflated prices that is just part of the game until there is a better inf sink, but then that would just slow the inflation not stop it.

There will be a massive increase in the total inf. in the game, which would result in a general increase in item prices across the board. This, in the end, would hurt everyone, and the new players the most.

I'm no economist, but that's just my theory. I'd happily like to be proven that my prediction is wrong for some logical reasons.
Here is the basic flaw in your theory. As the market price skyrockets people will be willing to buy things from the market for more and more, but the vendor prices stay the same; so say a common salvage that currently sells for 500 in the future sells for 5 million. A new player gets this salvage as a drop as he is punching street thugs in the face and being bombarded with SG invite spam, and other player created distractions. He is told to sell it on the market; it sells for 5.5 million and in less than 20 minutes of play time he has a bank roll that will buy all his SOs till he is 47 off of one drop! ....

nope I am not worried about the new casual player at all.

I always find it interesting that people think some how the sellers set the market price. often times I have seen a typo set the market price for a while. I saw a common going for ~1000 and then there was a bid for 10,009 and then with in minutes it was up to 30K+ before someone bid a 1000 and got his doodad...

I hold that more market prices are set by typoing buyers than any other factor.

There really shouldn't be any concern for the poor casual player, rumor has it somewhere in this very forum there is a player willing to give anyone that asks enough inf to buy all the SOs needed for a lv 50.

That, I think, is exactly where we disagree. To me, a game shouldn't be a direct representation of the real world. We come here to relax, have fun, and have a good time. To me, a game should enable me (and everyone else) to have loads of fun. High rewards, low cost, low risk. Being a Game Design student, that's how I look at games. And what I say is, why SHOULDN'T that new player feel powerful with minimal effort? Why SHOULDN'T you be epic with minimal cost? It's all in a virtual world and a video game.

As with any game there will be people better at it than others. well there is progressquest but even there some people will play that longer than others and get further ahead.

So better players will be better rewarded, its part of the reason we play games it's the competition. This relates directly to the market in that some people are better at working the market. and are rewarded for their efforts and skill.

if the designers did their job well you will feel epic with minimal effort, you go from punching street thugs in the face to shooting aliens with your laser beam eyes ... that is a pretty epic. There will always be people better than you, or with better gear but don't judge your fun by the achievement of others.

    inv/ss 2nd build

I have a pretty solid inv/ss build now: ( S/L 58%, E/N 44% F/C 37% psi 18%) went with the end mod alpha to help my blue bar woes.

    however this post from CMA

Wait out the crash phased and eat a blue, retoggle and dull pain and you're ready to continue on when the 30 second phase runs out. I've used that temp on any number of characters as an "oh crap" button; it gives you a 30 second time out to recover from whatever's killing you. It's also dirt cheap to buy at Wentworths.

    Got me thinking,

with the lv 54 content out now, and assuming it will only get harder maybe it is time to look into getting back into unstoppable and the tactic above seems rather doable as I doubt any TF would need more than 5 uses, and if needed I could drop a crafting table and get another 5 in an emergency.

So before I go and spend the time and inf on a second build I am asking the forum if it would be worthwhile adventure, or a fools errand.
  21. instead of taking the easy way and getting virtue's sg to 667+ I say we start a satellite office of ebil of freedom ... and do it right.
