  1. So believe it or not, I didn't ditch the Synapse run on purpose.

I actually started back at work this week. It figures the week after I revamp my warshade's build is when I can't come to kheld fridays anymore.

This works for me, since I always see my builds as a work in progress.
  3. The Ouroboros double header was unusually popular this week. Tesseract filled up quickly and launched early even!

(I totally stole the base formatting for that page from a similar page from Blondeshell)
So looking over that list it appears that in the first 5 years of the game we got roughly 5.4 new powersets per year(not counting proliferation), 2.4 of which were free.

In the past year we've had 10 new powersets released, 3 of which are free. So as VIPs our rate of free powersets hasn't gone down since freedom launched and because of the monthly stipend you can technically get most of the paid sets for "free" also.
  5. I think since freedom launched I've only actually paid for 1 powerset, the rest I got for "free" with my monthly points stipend.

Personally, I'd rather team with players with those attributes on a build with SOs than someone with a min/maxed build that refuses to co-operate with a group.
This pretty much sums up my feelings.

I once joined an ITF and we had a Shield/Elec tanker that had an amazing build. He could jump ahead and solo all the Cysts in the second mission very quickly. On the final mission he jumped ahead and almost killed Romulus by the time the team caught up. The problem with this was that it was advertised as a shard/xp run and the team leader asked the tanker not to rush ahead several times. Also every time he ran off the squishies of the team would die repeatedly because at that point it was up to my MA/SR scrapper to tank and I couldn't grab enough aggro for that.

That guy obviously had a lot of combat skill but I wouldn't consider him a skilled player. A lot of people don't seem realize that being a skilled soloer doesn't automatically convert into being a skilled team player.
  7. If you're looking for something different from your brutes I'd recommend going for /ninjitsu instead of /SR since Stalkers are the only ones that have access to that set.
  8. I did a strange build on my widow where I have a full melee attack chain and a full ranged one. However I tend to play as a melee character most of the time, only switching to ranged when I run into an enemy that uses Unstoppable (since my ranged attack chain has psi powers that go right through it). So I'd say it's just a matter of preference, swipe does do more damage, but poison dart makes up for it with being ranged so it's flexible.

    Help with doms

If later you find yourself with Domination on cooldown and a Boss grinning like a jackal at you, just pop some Lucks and go to town.
I use Domination as an end heal all the time. In fact that's one of the best things about perma-dom, you get a full end heal every time it goes off.

One thing I've gotten used to is when I know I want to do something with a long animation (like place an Acid Mortar) I will wait until I see the blue warning indicator then move to a safe place and drop it, that usually gives me enough time to place it and move out of the way of the next one. Of course then your Acid Mortar is in the middle of a damage patch, but traps is just at a general disadvantage in a fight like that.

Hmmm, yeah, the tatoos and back emblems would be a nice touch to add to the revamp. I won't hold my breath though, the CoT emblem on the forehead would have been a nice touch too but it didn't happen.

Some can be delete, some not.
I can confirm that deleting works for this temp power.
  13. I don't mind the revamp, the club hair is the only thing that bothers me. I've never seen anything look good with that hair. In fact, if someone has managed to make it look good on a costume please post it here, I'd love to see that.

Actually it's still there. I don't think it's changed at all.

Metronome is a disembodied entity that can possess things. That seems like a ghost to me. By your own logic (ie. the Well is magic because it seems like magic) that makes him a ghost.

I don't think this is an indicator because Shivans are also vulnerable to the ghost slaying axe. The fact that those ghosts drop magic enhancements is really the only valid part of your argument, and I agree with it.
  18. Haha, sept's dwarf form looks like it's doing a "talk to the hand!" emote.

Those three still exist, but they got an aesthetic makeover and became the Break Free, Emerge and Escape that we have today.
They also sell for a ridiculous amount on the black market.
  20. I've enjoyed my Elec/Dark brute and it's a combo I haven't seen from anyone else. It's great because most enemies that do dark damage are also weak to energy.

If they're not extremely tanky (like, say, the Goliath War Walkers in the Praetorian Invasions last year), then they die very quickly, which means we have to rush back to the zone a lot faster. Since the number of enemies is limited, there's only so long you guys will want to kill tentacles, Coralax, Flyers and Arachnos. At a certain point, more people get unhappy than seem to be happy, and that point has tended to arrive between 1 and 1.5 hours into the event.
For future events like this I think a good way to avoid the boredom would be to have an objective for the event. It would take development time but would make your lives easier if you could have some object that spawns enemies and the players need to destroy that object. The rate at which it spawns enemies could be based on the number of players within a certain range of it, you could probably use a modified version of the rikti invasion code for this. It could have an insane amount of HP but very low regen to ensure that the fight isn't over too fast but also that stopping to clean up the spawned critters doesn't make you lose all your progress. Maybe have it occasionally spawn a critter that will try to heal it so that players have extra incentive to watch the spawns.

That way all you guys have to do is drop the object in zone and it handles the rest for you. On larger servers you could drop multiple objects. Then any witty banter or signature enemies you want to throw out would just be icing on the cake.

Huh? Malta Gunslingers pull their guns out of thin air just like players do. Maelstrom has his guns holstered at his side when not attacking and then pulls them out of the holsters instead of thin air, leaving empty holsters once he's drawn them.
  23. Water spout does knockup, not knockback, so I'm not sure if the Overwhelming Force proc will do the conversion. It may just add a chance for knockdown like it does for any attack that doesn't have knockback.
  24. Yeah, personally I'd rather have to go fix costumes that are affected by this if it means I can match up colors better. One of the biggest strengths of the costume creator is the ability to mix and match, which is difficult with pieces that don't color the same as everything else.

We've had costume parts that change their behavior/appearance based on whether a specific power is active for years now (wings, rocket/winged/piston boots, jetpacks), and auras that only turn on when the character is in a combat stance for a while too. The Vanguard shield has "on" and "off" graphics -- and it even has an animation to transition between the two. I don't see any reason a scabbard couldn't work like the Vanguard shield.

I think it's more of a "this would be a LOT of work and we're very busy creating other awesome things" situation than a "we don't have the tech to pull it off at all" one.
Just a note to add to this: Maelstrom already has holstered guns that he actually draws for his attacks. I keep hoping they'd do the same at least for the other signature characters with weapons.
