Quote:Please don't assume. When you assume, you make an a$$ out me and you!It reads as though there will be just one starting zone and it will be the destroyed Galaxy City. The biggest issue I see is that people don't like gloomy zones as much as the shiny nice ones. One of the reasons people frequently give for not wanting to play villain-side is the more gloomy feel of the zones. I just think you're going to put off a lot of new players if the first thing they see is a demolished, depressing area.
You need to keep one nice shiny starting zone, and make sure people know they have that option. -
As a vocal Redsider, I'm all for the destruction and proliferation of Blueside zones.

I'll be your friend, Dinah!
Have to see what my boyfriend aka Financial Advisor/Accountant says about me playing after i21, but I'd like to stick around. -
You know, until I came back and started making new characters, I had no clue who Apollo and Midnighter were!

Quote:I got pissed yesterday: The RedsidersI used to get extremely annoyed by this 'hero-centricity', and Paragon Studios/NCsoft effectively dismissing the 'City of Villains' brand in any media or public forums (it's rarely, if ever, mentioned in any of the media interviews, although sometimes the terms 'villain' and 'Rogue Isles' are used). Now, I continue to be annoyed, but just accept that this is the status quo.
Kudos to you and your Hero AT Villain. City of Villains needs more players like you! -
Maybe I should just switch realms. Honestly, I'm pretty much fed up with the hero-centricity.

Quote:It would be nice if people would spend as much time in Cap under Aeon's monument as they did under Atlas' statue.I play almost exclusively villainside and it's because the quality of the content is so much better, even if the quantity is smaller. So I don't feel villains are screwed at all.
It would be nice if Villains had as many supergroups as heroes. -
Quote:Sure. The point is Villains got screwed at the beginning and it hurt us later on. It's a case of life imitating art, too. Villains always lose at the end of the comicbook.Interesting version of history but not particularly accurate in it's language.
Let's try again.
After City of Villains was released, Cryptic slashed the dev team for the entire game to less than 20 people, so the studio could focus on new projects and still technically meet their contract with NCSoft. The dev team made a conscious decision that the things they could do should be things that had the biggest impact for the most players, so neither side got much in the way of specific development. NCSoft saw it was a money maker for them and a game worth improving, so when the time came they bought out Cryptic and took over the dev team and made it much larger.
That's a severely trimmed version of events, but it's more accurate than the slanted synopsis you were given. Beware oversimplification, the full story is often a lot more complicated. -
I was talking to someone, I can't remember who, but they explained Redside vs. Blueside thusly:
Just after City of Villains was released, Cryptic Studios was in the process of losing the reins to the game. So there was no support or new content released. By the time Paragon Studios got a hold of it, interest had waned.
If you think about it, how many content updates have Villains seen since 2005 beyond VEATs? -
I want to make an unstoppable killing machine in the vein of Bane, Killer Croc, Metallo, Darkseid, etc.
I've already decided on Stone Melee.
Should I go /Invunlerable or /Electric Armor Brute
OR
Should I go Invunlerable/ or *something* Tanker? (Do Tankers solo well?) -
Quote:Been to Atlas Park on Virtue, lately? That's a statue.Out-of-character, it seemed rather dull just hanging out under a statue- it didn't contribute much more than just using Global chat for socializing... and global channels let you do whatever you want wherever you want while socializing. In-character, it seemed even less sensible.
Quote:Again, what hours do you play? Because I still see people around, and I play mainly on Champion which, quoting Celestial Lord, has allegedly "always been rather anemic" in redside population. I have yet to see evidence of that anemia, but oh well....
Quote:Having said all that, I love redside. I love the archetypes, I love the maps, I love the mission design and I love the SFs. I even find badging much less tedious than blueside (I'm not saying it's perfect, just that I find it easier to get badges, particularly Accolades). My main Brute is one step away from being villain again after being blueside since GR, and I can't wait to have him 'home'. -
Quote:One way or another, it means Villains will get another zone! This is Deductive reasoning:
Meteor Shower = Space
Coming Storm = Shivans
Shivans = Meteors
coming Storm = Space
This is Abductive reasoning:
Coming Storm = Space
New Zone soon
Paper gives mysterious warning of Meteors
Paper + knowledge of Coming Storm + Knowledge of New Zone = high probability of new Zone being in Space or pertaining to space.
You could also mention how 'Galaxy City' is littered with astrological terminology.
This is me being happy:

Zone PvP always reminds me of Galaxy Quest. The scene where they are fighting the enemy group and Jason Nesmith says, "You may be bigger, but I'm trailing mines!"
Except, my mines are Shivans. Or Arachnos soldiers. -
Galaxy City becoming a trash-strewn eyesore? Villains will take it as a new zone. We need more zones, anyways. It's even cleaner than Nerva!
-
Meh, there's garbage all over the Rogue Isles. You don't see us (Villains) complaining! Suck it up, capes!
-
Quote:But now you're back on Virtue...? I haven't seen any Arachnos Elite around, but I've seen a heckuva lot of Arachnos United.QFT! :P
The "original" Arachnos Commander was a Mastermind long before VEAT's. After 4 years of playing nothing but the MM, I grew tired of him and killed him off. (Arachnos Commander laid to rest) The original AC didn't have much of a story, so I rerolled him to make a concept I enjoyed.
His new bio:
I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. -
I'm not talking about teams. I'm talking about seeing people. Around. Back in 2006 when I was leveling my Brute, I remember seeing loads of people going to mishes and traveling and around. Hanging out under Lord Recluse's statue in Grandville was popular.
Now... -

Maybe what we need to do is collect all Redsiders on one realm?
It just feels so quiet on Redside. -
Coming back after a four year break I was r to get back into the game I remember. As a preferred Redsider, I thought that the new Alignment System would reinvigorate CoV - As I remember it being much quieter than CoH.
Now that I've been back for over a month, I'm disheartened to realize that Redside is even quieter than when I left!
So? Is Redside dead? -
Here's my etiquette for Zone PvP:
* I will use Inspirs.
* I will use Accolade Powers
* I will aggro NPCs to distract you
* I will interrupt fights to gank
I'm a Villain and my PvPer is /WP so I fight dirty.
