  1. I had the temp power warwolf whistle and the radio pac. Both call pets. I was doing the FlashBack Posi arc with one other and we both lost charges but did not get the pet. We did not alter the settings at all.

Is this as intended, a bug or never heard of before?
  2. I am new to Fenders. This is my first one. I am tanker/scrapper oriented, tho I have rolled a couple of blasters.

I am looking for a Fender that can solo 2/8's and be a much wanted toon on anyone's TF/Trial/etc.

Influence isnt' a problem and I am not worried about how to get this toon to 50. This is a final build.

I am attempting a Stamina-less build. I think this would work in theory. If this is not feasible, please let me know. I don’t mind eating blues the few times I might miss.

I have a few chain thoughts so please critique and highlite my strengths/weaknesses. I am completely open to suggestions.

I am not including Blizzard, due to the high recharge. It would become situational and not part of a chain.

    Solo mob chain...

With Arctic Fog, SS w/stealth IO and Oppressive Gloom running, run in middle of mob and fire off Heat Loss, Soul Drain, Sleet and finally Ice Storm. While all of that is going on, use Freeze Ray and Bitter Freeze Ray on the boss(es) and finish off with Ice Bolt and Ice Blast.

    Solo AV chain...

I am not sure about this one, it might not even be possible. I suspect I need to try it out thru trial and error. Unless someone has a real good idea how to go about it. I think it would probably be similar to Team AV chain (see below).

    Team AV chain...

After I put shields on everyone, Benumb, Heat Loss, Sleet, Freeze Ray, Bitter Freeze Ray, Ice Bolt and finally Ice Blast. Rinse and Repeat with the powers available.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

  3. I am not ignoring you. I am waiting until Mids issues a new release. The latest has too many issues for me to trust what I am seeing. When I get a new release, I will take another look at your build.

I will say that what you posted in the text, seems like you are going in a good direction. I am an AoE junkie, which is why I took FB. Getting all of the extra bonuses was just icing for me. I hope you are happy with your build.

    Happy Hunting,

    Aaron
  4. I read somewhere awhile back, so my memory could be off, that tohit is roughly 3 times the strength of accuracy. It has something to do with how the multiplier works in that tohit is taken first then accuracy. Or something like that. Do a search on the boards for it. I believe it is stickied somewhere.

Also, with each of your powers enhanced accuracy in addition to your global accuracy, you will generally be at the accuracy cap anyway. So 9% accuracy is negligable at this point. I don't think you can get enough tohit %. That is why alot of folks like either tactics or focused accuracy in their builds.

If anyone out there wants to tell me I am full of it, I would not debate you. However, I think I am in the ballpark.

As far as adding def/rech to the LotG set, you will only increase your defense by .1 or if you put in end/rech you would only gain .01 end/sec. It would not help combat jumping or your other stats at all. So you would not be missing anything by having the Kismet unique.
  5. A few things stand out and are in no particular order...

    1. I would drop resist elements and add in resist physical damage in order to get the extra DDR. I have no problems tanking the ITF and I think 50% DDR is a large part of that. The resist needs for fire/cold are somewhat rare.

    2. I took the Pyre pool as I just don’t think Physical Perfection is needed. I do not have end issues, even long drawn out AV fights.

Regen is of no concern to me because I just don’t get hit much. I ran an ITF where we had an Ice tank. We usually split up, with the healer and buffer usually staying with the Ice tank. I popped DP twice. Regen just isn’t necessary with this build in my experience.

Also, this pool allows +17% recharge enhances, the way I have it set up. Admittedly tho, Char and RoFire are mostly mules. I just don’t have a need for those. So I can see some folks not doing this, as I requires taking two seldom used powers to get one mediocre power in FB. If it wasn’t for the +17% recharge I probably wouldn’t take it. Having said that, I am not sure what I would put in its place.

    3. I dropped GFS in favor of BoF. I like BoF and SoMu as either a ST or AoE. (tho I don’t use SoMu that often because of its long cast time). I also like it for the Posi set.

    4. I would drop one of the Hami’s in Invincibility and put a LotG 7.5% in its place.

    Here is my build.

  6. Fooey, but I figured that was the case.

    Thanks for the info.
  7. Bonfire. I know the power calls up a pet, don't quite understand how the proc will work in this power. The power last for 45 sec and I know the critters will pick themselves up and just keep running into the fire. So will it try to fire each time the bonfire is hit? If it does and because it is a pet, will it give me the proc or will it give it to the pet. I am lost when it comes to this. Help?

Thanks to all ahead of time,

    Aaron

I tried to make this build, but could only get roughly 34%/34%. I wouldn't use him anyway as he was too gimped for my taste. I couldn't take hasten as I had to get all of the defensive powers, so that also made my endurance cost higher. I don't see how it could be done and also be a practical build.
  9. I had explosive arrow on all my previous builds. This is the first one that doesn't have it, and frankly I don't miss it. BU + Roa + FoA almost always drops all the minions and lieu's. I then use Aim + BA + AS + rinse and repeat for the remaining bosses.

I recommend taking Boost Range and Ranged Shot. (I like the Sting of Manticore in RS. Every one of the set bonuses are useful). I will sometimes BR + BU + RS and snipe a lieu. At that range, I find that about half the time, the rest of the critters won't make a move or they might just scatter. You are usually so far from them that there is no incoming alpha. If they do come after you, I drop Bonfire and blast away. I actually like this method the best because the mobs seldom act the same way two times in a row. It keeps the game from getting boring. Just my opinion tho. Oh and this works with RoA also.

I tried the Force Pool and hated it for the following reasons...
PFF - I found myself watching my health bar way too much. You really have to time it right, wait too long and your dead. If you have mediocre defense, your health bar will drop fast.
RF - If you KB 3 critters and they get up and attack you again and again your end bar will plummet. Its high end cost, plus the end cost of each critter hitting you each time, plus using your offensive attacks will drop your blue bar like a brick.
RB - recharge is way too long for the damage it does.
FoN - This is just bad all the way around. 1000 sec timer and comes with a crash. Sheesh

My reason for the Flame pool...
Bonfire - For solo is great. Toss it at your feet and fire away. 90% of those critters you fail to kill will charge at you and get thrown back. Sometimes they actually get to you, hit you once, the get KB's in the same direction they were traveling when they ran at you. It is actually kind of funny to watch. This power has saved me quite a few times.
Char - A very solid hold and uses the best IO set for the slots required, Basilisks Gaze. Def, End and Rech for just 3 xtra slots = nothing better.
FS - Your standard resistance toggle
RoTP - This is the only rez power I recommend for squishies. Some thinking goes along the lines of not getting a rez power because that means you are planning to die. Or, why use it when you can use BF's? I like it because of its damage and stun component. A mag 4 stun and 500 dam, it is basically a mini nuke. Have you ever died with critters standing on you, a BF won't help. This most definetly will. Besides, your a squishy right? You will in fact, die sometimes.

Every thing I have stated is just my opinion based on my experience. You may or may not agree. This is why I strongly recommend using the test server to iron out all these questions and varying opinions out.

    Happy Hunting
  10. Over all, I don’t think you will like this build. I have had this blaster at L50 for quite awhile. I have respec’d him 7 times or so and just recently got a build I actually like. (btw, save yourself some time and get him to 50 with common io’s and then build him on the test server, boy I wish I had done that) While your recharge seems outrageously cool, your RoA comes up only 2 sec faster and Aim and BU only come up 3 sec and 5 sec sooner than mine, respectively. I only have 134% global recharge.

I did a build where I had 190% global rech but 0% defense. I was constantly mezzed and died often. I was extrememly unhappy with the build. Your defense is very poor. S/L is 21% and all else basically negligable. You will probably be at range most of the time so Ranged def will work better for you.

Just an fyi, you will lose 4% regen by replacing the Regen Tissue Unique with a Heal IO. Why spend all that moolah on 4% regen. Your could probably drop the Numina Unique and get away with it if you slotted a little differently. If you get the end accolades and drop the Numina Unique you only lose .03 end.

I will post my build just so you can see another idea. He has 43% ranged def and I hover blast. By the time I get hit, they are dead. I took bonfire for some melee cover. While I haven’t quite got the knack for that power, it has kept me alive quite a few times. The KB is great, especially in buildings where I can direct them into a corner.

This is a fairly inexpensive build compared to yours and I believe is way way safer. So, no, I don’t believe this is a “dream build” based on my personal experience with this particular AT, nor do I think mine is. I am sure he can be tweaked even further, but I would take mine over yours, expecially for the cost.

  11. The rule of 5 does not just apply to the number, it applies to the entire description of the bonus.

So no, the Basilisk does not add to the rule of 5 for the LotG.

Basically the LotG is a stand alone for that bonus description.

As far as the Oblit and Crush Impact, they read the same, so they do count to the same rule of 5.

    Hmmm, point taken.
  13. I am working on this build, and have him to 38 with just common enhances atm. When I get him to 50, I am going to respec him.

Before I get there, does anyone have any comments?

Also, I just can't get worked up about not hitting 45%. For me 40% is good enough. An extra 5% chance to hit me, come on, give them a chance, lol.

  14. Not sure what happened.

Nothing to see, please move along.
  15. I also tried to purchase 3 or 4 of these at one time. When the second wouldn't purchase (I also got the exact same message you did) I fired off an email to NCSoft support. They responed within the hour. I gave them some follow up info and they told me I could purchase freely.

Interestingly though, they told me to hurry up and get my purchases done. After just now reading there was a 1 item per day limit, I suspect they did a work around for me.

I really like the NCsoft support. To make it even better, they did this on a Sunday afternoon.

P.S. I did not know about the limit. If I had I would have just purchased the one per day. Sometimes though, just asking customer service a question can get great results.
  16. To all who have posted so far, as it relates to boredom and playing with friends, I didn't really think of that as being a large part of farming. I guess my image of farming is more business like. It seems like playing the game, doing content, rolling various toons is the fun/friendly part and farming is business/serious. I guess my perceptions are off. I don't farm much at all. I have never hosted a farm and participated in very few. They seem stiff and not very fun. Perhaps if I incorporated a fun factor into farming my perceptions might change. Also I have been reading more on the boards about farming. I suppose I have had a preconceived notion about farming.

To be fair, it is more AE farming than mission farming I see. For example, I have rolled 3 new toons this month and in AP, it is not uncommon to see a 4:1 ratio of AE farm requests to sewer team requests. Steel is the same way, but with a lower ratio. I haven't been to PI as much, but it is still more difficult to get a mission team that it is a farm team. At least to me anyway. If it matters, I am on Freedom.

Thanks, to all, for the perspective.
  17. I have been playing on and off for the last 3 years. I just over the last few months came back and noticed that farming seems to be just as heavy as it was a year ago. Tons of broadcasts looking for more people and such.

I could understand it before, as you needed at least 6 on a team to get the map's mob size up. But now, with the new difficulty settings, you can set that same map yourself without help. The pro seems to be that you don't share the loot with anyone else. It is all yours. The con would be if you aren't quite strong enough to clear a map, but then you could just get one more and at least then you are only splitting loot with one person instead of 5 or more.

Then there are speed runs, which I would assume are being split up as to clear the map faster. But again, it is the sharing of the loot that makes even this seem illogical. If a fire/kin can clear a map solo with incredible speed, and a team of 8 can do it, say 3 times faster, but the fire/kin is keeping everything, then why? You don't get 100% of the drops, you are wasting time trying to get more ppl and you have to do some coordination with the team. Plus there will always be chit chat which takes away from the game time.

The only thing I don't see anymore are the fill/bridge requests. Which is a good thing, I guess.

Overall, if the purpose of farming is to "farm", why isn't the solo act the ultimate way to go? And if it is, then why don't more folks do it that way?

    Thanks,
  18. I am trying to get my mind wrapped around how they work with each other.

If I am short of the soft cap for defense, say around 40, and I have -tohit debuffs thru DM, can that cover the last 5 somehow? It seems like it should but I just can rationalize/quantify it in my head.

I have a DM/SD scrapper that is a few point shorts of the soft cap and just wonder if this can cover the difference.

    Help anyone?
  19. For those interested, I believe this will be my final build for this set. I will still welcome any suggestions if anyone sees anything glaring that could be better.

Thanks again for all the insight and suggestions.

  20. Claws,

Thanks for the explanation. I really appreciate answers that not only simply tell me what I am doing wrong but actually explain why. That makes sense and will definetly be changing the way I think about powers now.

    Fury,

You are absolutely right. I have gotten in the habit of putting alot more of my bonuses towards the lower levels. I check and my endurance is actually better than I thought at those levels when exempted. I don't really need the extra endurance then. I need it more at the higher levels when I get more of my other offensive powers. Nice insight.

I have been playing this game on and off for two years and am actually quite happy to have learned some new things. Looking forward to seeing what other ideas I have that could be better. Thanks again all.

Well, I normally put them as early in a build as possible for when I exempt down. It seems like they make the power they are in stronger, which is something I never realized. I assumed it was purely a global proc and it would be utilized from any power, no matter where.

I know I would give up some, but I am really going to have to decide if I want it more for exemptions or not.

Can anyone give a brief explanation about why the procs work better in the power they are slotted for?

    Thanks,
  22. Okay I think I have it now. I really don't like adding those two BoZ KB IO's, but I don't see any other way of getting there.

    Thanks ClawsandEffect for the inspiration.

Anyone else see something glaring or missing? Thanks in advance.

  23. This is the build I have taken as far as I can or want to w/out purples or pvp enhancements. I am a little bummed that I can't quite manage all three def position softcaps. If you have any suggestion to improve this build in anyway please let me know.

Thanks to Enot and Werner for their help with my previously just okay build.

edit...(I posted my final build at post #16 below, if you wish to skip this one.)

  24. Okay, I went from a murkey understanding to cloudy with Enots explanation. Then Werner basically turned the light bulb on. There were quite a few things I had never really considered. I guess my blinders were on a bit. I really liked Enots last bit of advice about using the test server. I had completely forgotten about that as I haven't used it in well over a year.

Thanks for the help and advice.

    To the OP,

I just realized that this thread seemed to be about me, and I apologize. I should have started a new post. If I have any other questions I will do just that.
  25. Enots,

I took your build and put it side by side with mine. I still don't get it.

I did a power by power comparison and for the most part our recharges and end cost are a wash because some of mine were better and visa versa.

You damage was better but only by 10% on two powers and less that 5% on the rest.

Soul Drain gives a tohitt buff so kismet seems like a wasted slot.

Hasten only has two slots, that screams to me that it is underslotted.

You picked dark consumption over touch of fear. DC can only be used at best every 60 sec. If endurance is not an issue, then to me it is a waste. TOF recharges every 3 sec with a mag 3 fear plus a healthy tohit debuff that I understand stacks. I don't understand how DC is better.

Also, my regeneration is 100% higher.

All other numbers in my opinion are fairly close. I know you probably threw this together and could probably make it a little tighter.

I still don't understand the feeling that you guys think this build is gimped or somehow less than he could be.

I do sincerely appreciate the help and time spent with this.

    Thanks,

    Aaron
