Invuln/Fire - feedback requested

Hi all,

I just rolled a invuln/fire tank for PvE purposes.

My objectives:
1. Sturdy (good def/resist values...even to fill some of the Psi hole by addressing ranged def and etc...). Decent regen/recovery too should help.
2. Mix of AOE and single target damage. Not trying to scrap here btw.
3. Get honest feedback. I don't pretend to know it all so welcome any constructive feedback.

Background:
While my favorite tank is my Invuln/Dark Melee b/c it can take just about anything and keep going. It is a little hard to solo with b/c damage output is lower. My hope is that with this tank, I can preserve many of those qualities and do a little better solo when I cannot find a team.

Side Note:
I do realize that with Obliterations and Touch of Death would grant more S/L def but I chose to work on other areas like ranged def and etc. Furthermore, I figure that since my def for S/L is 44.8% with only one bad guy around, that goes up to 51% with 5 bad guys and 59% with 10 bad guys around.

Latest build below. Thanks for ideas from board members

A few things stand out and are in no particular order...

1. I would drop resist elements and add in resist physical damage in order to get the extra DDR. I have no problems tanking the ITF and I think 50% DDR is a large part of that. The resist needs for fire/cold are somewhat rare.

2. I took the Pyre pool as I just don’t think Physical Perfection is needed. I do not have end issues, even long drawn out AV fights.

Regen is of no concern to me because I just don’t get hit much. I ran an ITF where we had an Ice tank. We usually split up, with the healer and buffer usually staying with the Ice tank. I popped DP twice. Regen just isn’t necessary with this build in my experience.

Also, this pool allows +17% recharge enhances, the way I have it set up. Admittedly tho, Char and RoFire are mostly mules. I just don’t have a need for those. So I can see some folks not doing this, as I requires taking two seldom used powers to get one mediocre power in FB. If it wasn’t for the +17% recharge I probably wouldn’t take it. Having said that, I am not sure what I would put in its place.

3. I dropped GFS in favor of BoF. I like BoF and SoMu as either a ST or AoE. (tho I don’t use SoMu that often because of its long cast time). I also like it for the Posi set.

4. I would drop one of the Hami’s in Invincibility and put a LotG 7.5% in its place.

Here is my build.

Ty for taking the time to respond. I will give a close look to your suggestions. One question about combat jumping. Did you consider the 4th LOTG for added accuracy vs the to-hit unique? I may have other questions as I study your recommendation. Thanks again!

Update- I have been working on the build and will have a new one to share later today or tomorrow. While I have eliminated the power mastery epic pool, I do not plan to pick up the pyre mastery pool. Sure I would love to have fireball, but not at the expense of picking up 2 other powers I will never use. Overall my 2nd version of this build will be much better. More to come

I read somewhere awhile back, so my memory could be off, that tohit is roughly 3 times the strength of accuracy. It has something to do with how the multiplier works in that tohit is taken first then accuracy. Or something like that. Do a search on the boards for it. I believe it is stickied somewhere.

Also, with each of your powers enhanced accuracy in addition to your global accuracy, you will generally be at the accuracy cap anyway. So 9% accuracy is negligable at this point. I don't think you can get enough tohit %. That is why alot of folks like either tactics or focused accuracy in their builds.

If anyone out there wants to tell me I am full of it, I would not debate you. However, I think I am in the ballpark.

As far as adding def/rech to the LotG set, you will only increase your defense by .1 or if you put in end/rech you would only gain .01 end/sec. It would not help combat jumping or your other stats at all. So you would not be missing anything by having the Kismet unique.

So after a ton of time playing with mids and considering my goals, I have come up with my final build (for now anyway lol).

A couple of points:
1. I skipped the epic pools b/c while I like fireball, it is lower damage than my other two PBAoE attacks. Also, I did not need char or fire cages to mule any sets in my final build. The epic powers would have just ended up being a waste of 2, maybe 3 powers.

2. I did choose both of my big single target attacks with build up b/c I want to be able to deal some damage to an AV when needed.

3. I am capped on all defense types except psionic. I am capped on S/L resistence.

4. I have a travel power

5. I am capped on HP, my regen is 317%, and my recovery is 3.51

All in all I think this build will work great. Of course if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

I am not ignoring you. I am waiting until Mids issues a new release. The latest has too many issues for me to trust what I am seeing. When I get a new release, I will take another look at your build.

I will say that what you posted in the text, seems like you are going in a good direction. I am an AoE junkie, which is why I took FB. Getting all of the extra bonuses was just icing for me. I hope you are happy with your build.

Happy Hunting,

Aaron
