Quote:Supply and demand, they used to go for 30-60million because that was what the market would support. We can discuss the reasons (less interest in them, fewer people playing level 50s, higher prices on other IOs leaving less available inf for them) but that fact was prior to I13 the market prices of purples were stable at those levels. Since there was generally supply available it seems safe to conclude that the demand would not really support higher prices. My husband and I, never farmed the AE. We never did anything with that. He doesnt even make stuff up in it. So I am sure when he posts that he doesnt think about that at all. Purples should have never been only 30 million. You can make that much in 1 afternoon.
The changes to the game since then have lowered supply a bit (due to AE farming as a partial replacement for regular farming) and increased demand (more level 50s being played, merits and tickets lowered the prices on a lot of mid-range IOs freeing up more inf for purples). In addition the earning power of a level 50 increased dramatically (both the bug fix and the new difficulty settings) so the value of 1inf has dropped. -
As far as I know Ignicity is correct. The important thing to keep in mind with procs is wether they affect the caster or the target. Force Feedback is a buff proc and as such it affects the target meaning it only gets one roll.

Quote:Yes in a standard military convention that would make sense. But in CoH it's a reference to the more classical meaning Alpha and Omega so whiel it might sound silly from a military standpoint for the superhero genre it makes perfect sense. If you are making two teams, and one is supposed to be a secret team, why would you name the first team "Alpha Team."
Doesn't that imply at least one more team? Wouldn't any competent enemy commander be saying "Okay, there's Alpha. Now, where is Beta, Gamma, and/or Omega?" -

It doesn't matter. Transfusion works by summoning a pseudo-pet at the target's location and it is this pet that performs the healing. As long as the target is alived at the time the to hit roll is made the pet will be summoned and hte heal will go off.

Quote:If I was discussing balance that might be a valid response, but I'm talking about the mechanics and I don't need to play the set to be able to tell you that the mechanics of the power won't work on a player. How about playing the secondary before weighing in on the subject?
As I said above it might be possible to make it work using a variant of the Mystic Fortune code (which grants a limited duration temporary power to the target) but that could have other complications. I personally think a toggle makes more sense from a usability and power perspective for non-masterminds. -
Quote:Be that as it may, I interpreted his post as claiming that there isn't inflation going on when this is clearly not true.He has been playing this game since 1 week before me. I think he doesn't care about the price of tea in China because he has always had more $ than me in this game.
But still, I agree with him. People whined about the process when they were 60 million. Now they whine because we are in a recession? And they can't have what they want rite nao.
I recently took all my $ off of Love Hysteria. Down to 0$ Inf. It took me 4 days to get 750 million.
Is really NOT that hard. Plus, I didn't sell ANYTHING worth over 200,000. I just crafted it and stuck it in the base.
When people team in this game, and talk about how great teaming is. How much fun they have. How awesome their characters are... Then turn around 5 seconds later and gripe that they can't BUY something they OBVIOUSLY don't need to have fun.
WHY??? WHY??? -
Quote:I'm not sure it would need to be rebalanced, when cast on a pet it has an effectively infinite duration correct? I imagine it'll have a moderate 20-30 second recharge to prevent quick switching but the endurance cost shouldn't be to high.Of course, making it into a toggle will force them to reduce it's effectiveness and/or give a significantly high end cost/recharge. Unless they use the same kind of "toggle duration" code used for Hibernate and Phase Shift-type toggles. Either way, it's probably not going to be as good as it is now if ported to Corrs. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing the set on something that doesn't have to use pets to dish out damage. DP/Poison would be awesome....
-
Well, as a disclaimer I haven't actually played poison, I'm going off what RedTomax says about it so it's possible my interpretation is incorrect. In any case it appears to function using the "Grant Power" command. This is the same command that the mastermind Equip powers use and is something that does nothing on player characters.
For a non-mastermind set this would need to be changed. I'm not certain if it would be possible to do it as a click power. I think that it should be possible using a variant of whatever method the devs used for Mystic Fortune but I'm not certain. Also this may prevent it from working on Controller pets (I'm not sure about this one). I do know that the toggle method would work for both players and controller pets and I think it might be a better option from a balance perspective. -
Quote:I'm not talking about mid-level in terms of IO level. I'm talking about the IOs that sell in (as Fulmen's said) the 30-300million price range. There are a handful of IOs that sell in the 2billino plus range but there are a lot more (both in number of IOs and quantity sold) that sell in this range. Increasing the amount the market skims off here would help a lot with curbing inflation.Except that it has already been stated that the mid-level IO economy is basically near non-existant.
Hence the mid-level IO generating activities of some of the folks posting in this thread.
Also the crap load of inf is NOT coming from midlevel activity. It's coming from 50s who now thanks to the devs correcting that bug, and the SSK system, can make a crap load more inf than at any other level.
Unless you know something about fire/kins and fire/psi who farm in the 30s.
EDIT: Let me amend this. It's not that mid-level IO economy is near non-existent (though trying to set IO out recent mid-level toon I have currently has basically made me give up on getting any complete set IOs until I'm level 40), it's that the amount of inf you make via ALL inf generating activities (mobs, market, merits, tickets) is BETTER at 50 than at any other level. -
I believe you're correct. Procs are coded to affect either the caster or the target (rule of thumb is that buffs affect the caster and debuffs affect the target). The Performance Shifter is a wierd one. It's coded to affect the Target but becuase of the wide variety of powers that can use it who the target is can vary wildly.

1. The current version of Noxious Gas wouldn't really work on Teammates. I'd prefer to see the mastermind version kept as is and a new version for Corruptors that is a ally centered toggle like Disruption Field.
2. Removing the interrupt and decreasing the casting time sounds reasonable to me. It's already weaker than the traps version since it's a sleep rather than a hold, the cast time is just stupid. -
Quote:So, how long have you been playing? Purples have more than tripled in price (form 60million to 200million) since I14. The price of low end stuff has gone up as well but not by the same amount. Part of this is due to an increase in level 50 earning pwoer so it balances out somewhat but prices are definitely higher. Hence inflation. What ****in inflation are you people griping about? I go to the market and see the same stuff costing the same as before. Purples have always cost the knot. PvP IOs have always cost the knot. And crap has always cost nothing.
Nothing has changed. Why is this such a big deal?
If you cant afford it, you cant have it. If you want it. EARN IT. -
Quote:But the thing is the really big ticket sales aren't generating Wentfees anyway. If something is selling for >2 billion inf then the market would need to be changed to accommodate the sale (and people would probably still prefer to sell off-market to avoid the fee anyway). Increasing the Wentfee increases the rate at which WWs sucks inf out of the economy at all levels.Good counter arguments. But most of the true black market pvp io sales I've been hearing have been for 3-4 bill, not 2,000,000,001. I think folks will do anything for more inf, including just avoiding the market.
The ones in the 20-300 mil range aren't the ones I'm worried about. The ones with money to burn are the ones the fee really should be targeting.
EDIT: From some pvp sg members I've talked to, it's also not at all that hard to sell stuff off market if both are standing next to the market while they do it. The level 53 stuff they store their above 2bil inf in is probably why. -
I really don't think you can blame the players for all of the market's woes. Sure the PL'ing didn't help but there were several dev decisions (merits and the fix to level 50 inf earnings come to mind) that contributed at least as much.
-
Yep it will work, the same goes for Buckshot and Slug
-
Quote:That sounds reasonable to me (even if it does make it harder to do the math in my head). The Wentfee is the best tool they have to combat inflation and while they need to be arfeul about upping it to much a little extra on high value transactions would help smooth things out without breaking it I think.6) 12.5% Wentfee (5% before, 7.5% after) on anything over 10 million inf. If you flip or crap something for double the price now- say, buy item + ingredients for 20 million and sell for 40- you're generating a total of 6 million of Wentfees. Under the new system you'd generate 7.5 million (the item and ingredients, individually, are under the limit) so, in theory, you'd only be able to spend inf 8 times instead of 10. Inf in the system should drop by 20% as a result. And people who are buying low are unaffected.

Quote:No, no. The price of costume recipes went down because people refused to pay the extortionate prices that the ebil marketeers were charging.Have a seat over here, Castle, and let's discuss how the Evil Marketers got together and secretly decided to lower the prices of costume recipes.
Quote:Without getting into the semantics too much, it looks to me like Castle is specifically referring to the price of PvP recipes being greater than the theoretical inf cap, not saying that the market itself is "horribly broken". The fix could be as simple as increasing the drop rate of PvP recipes.
If it helps, Mod8 has a dissenting opinion: -

It's a security thing, there's a limit on how many purchases you can make in a given time frame. There is nothing you can do except wait 24hours and purchase it then.

Quote:Well it really depends on what you're looking for. All of the primaries are pretty good, Super Strength is one of the more powerful ones at high levels but it is a bit weak at low levels. War Mace and Battle Axe are both decent sets and are almost clones of each other Dual Blades, Claws and Electrical are all solid sets from what I've heard. Honestly for primary I'd say pick the one that appeals to you they are all good.so a Brute? what sort of powers? there are many to choose from and if I decide to stick with him to higher lvls I would hate to end up like "one of those guy" . You know the ones that did not choose wisely and should have chosen something better. I know all things work but somethings work alot better. Somethings are broken and some arent. So whats ur opinion with Brutes and power choices early on from lvl 1?
Secondaries are a little trickier. As Tonality said Willpower is an excellent solo set, the downside is in a group you can't aggro control very well with it. Stone has the best defense and aggro control but really lowers your damage (and makes teleport almost mandatory). Invulnerability is a nice compromise that has good survivability and aggro control with no negatives to attack. Shield and Fire will both boost your damage but you'll be a bit squishy compared to some other brutes. -
I'm planning to make a trench coat wearing DP/Storm Corruptor when DP goes live. There's a reason the cliches became cliches after all.
-
Quote:All ATs can solo reasonably well but Scrappers and Brutes are probably the easiest. They deal very good damage with their primaries and get pretty decent defenses through their secondaries. One last thing tho. What would be the better choice as in most likely I will have to do alot of things solo, which class or whatever you call it in this game is best for someone that is going to be soloing alot when there are no groups around?
Quote:I mean I dont want to create some healer type and not being in a group being a healer is a kinda pointless. -

Rule of thumb is that Virtue and Freedom have the highest populations. Of those populations Freedom has a higher percentage of power-gamers and PvPers while Virtue has a higher percentage of RPers.
