As one of my high school students (and this was some decades ago) said to me: "Hey Paul, did you know McCartney was in a band before Wings?"
[/ QUOTE ]
... ow. -
No. Grav's -kb is built into its holds, not its immobs.
-
Try placing the reticle about ten feet from the mob's original position, towards you. When they bounce, they'll likely be back in the same spot. Won't stop the scatter, but it will help.

Crabs have the greatest AoE potential, but at the expense of both defense and ST potential.
[/ QUOTE ]
Eh, what? Crabs have better defences than Banes and Huntsmen... they stay at range to make use of their CT, plus have Dull Pain and a toggle armour. -

Stalkers have a playstyle that often encourages spacing

Whoa. Uh.. no. Stalker = Scrapper with a badass alpha. -

I'd rather D-Shift be some sort of AoE Knockup power or patch.
[/ QUOTE ]As long as you are comfortable acknowledging that no matter how much you like this idea it will not happen, then that's a perfectly fine mental mode to be in. If you want to talk about changing Gravity, then you had best move past this desire.

Care to explain why it's impossible? -

Fire ball is designed to deal more damage while foes remian aggored and able to retaliate, while explosive blast has the added bonus of mitigaton by reducing aggro considerably for a couple of seconds via knockback.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would argue any mitigation value obtained in a team setting is offset twofold by KB's tendency to scatter critters outside placed-AoE effects and debuff anchors.
Between the two powers, Fire Ball is clearly the superior. Even if one ignores the obvious benefit of damage as a mitigation tool, the scatter effect just has too many ramifications--ones that I didn't even mention above.
As for Wormhole, it's inferior to powers like Stalagmites for the sole and simple reason that Wormherding isn't that desirable an effect. It's fun, interesting, a little useful, and can speed things up a mite, but it's not a worthy trade when it gives up nearly half a normal AoE stun's radius. Like a poster above mentioned, Wormhole has a 16 target cap, but trying to fill it is futile in all but the most extraordinary circumstances. -

Every single other set has an "up every fight" power that doesn't piss teams off with the knockback, unlike wormhole:
[/ QUOTE ]
Wormhole is for herding, not controlling.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, pissing teams off is never a power's fault... it's the fault of the player using the power.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I think the power has something to do with it...
For instance. Let me chunk Fire Ball into a crowd. Then chunk Explosive Blast into a crowd. Same person, same skill, different effect. Powers like Explosive Blast must be contained while providing no true benefit, and because of this, they are intrinsically inferior.
Wormhole gets around this because you can choose to place the critters back in their original positions (roughly) by putting the reticle a little more towards you, but its KB is still a little annoying. -
You're overusing your controls. Alternate between Stalagmites and Earthquake for groups, keeping Volcanic Gasses in reserve. Note that critters don't need to be controlled 100% of the time for you to be doing your job. You do great work by negating alpha strikes and controlling spawns when they're at their worst--fully massed and all of them still alive.

You dislike this new-fangled Sonic Blast--we used to play REAL Sonic Blast back in the day!

Never mind that Energy Doms are clearly doing much more damage than the other Secondaries
[/ QUOTE ]
... and then the six Doms fought more than one foe...
Seriously, Energy is only the king of single target damage, and not by much. -

After you get Wormhole and Singy, it's all gravy and it becomes one of the best control sets in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Erm, no.
After Wormhole and Singy, the set is merely adequate. It is surpassed in every way by all the other sets.
[/ QUOTE ] How?
[/ QUOTE ]
Flashfire does the same thing Wormhole does, with a shorter animation. It also doesn't aggro the critters before it takes effect, limiting retaliatory strikes. It also has a significantly larger radius, meaning it can effect more critters. It also comes 14 levels earlier. Also, you don't have to find a spot to place the critters, because they don't go anywhere. Finally, Flashfire is not unique in its pros, sharing similarities with powers like Stalagmites and Seeds of Confusion and other less-than-total AoE control powers.
If Wormhole operated differently and had a larger radius and came sooner, it'd be a wonderful power. It can be very fun to punt one group into another group and wail on the both of them, but other than that, the novelty of Wormhole wears off soon.
Another problem with Gravity is that Dimension Shift is pretty much useless. Other primaries have powers like Quicksand or Arctic Air or Hot Feet or Carrion Creepers that give the set a good amount of flavour and adds utility. Gravity gets an AoE pause button.
And even worse, one of the glories of Gravity is its high single target damage when compared to other control primaries, largely through its use of contained Propel. Dominators don't get Containment, and powers like Blaze and Power Push and Thorn Barrage kick Propel in the nuts, steal its lunch money and key its car (or forklift).
In short: It's adequate. Mediocre. Not the best. In fact, easily the worst. -

I don't see it as a bug. Men at war should stay on guard.
[/ QUOTE ]
NPCs don't role play. If the devs want their non-combat animations to change, that's fine. The point I was making upthread is that all NPCs are designed in a particular fashion. Some are inherently mezz resistant. Others have toggles they put up, and it adds a tactical element to combat to be able to mezz them before they raise their toggles. This sounds like a bug.

And this sounds like someone who wishes for the good ol' days when the Cimerorans were easy pickins. Hurrah for more interesting behaviour from mobs. -

if you see any players saying doms got nerfed because domination doesnt boost damage anymore, please correct them and let them know the domination damage is on all the time now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes but for many veterans who have permadom, there *is* a decrease in individual performance due to the loss of extended damage boosts from multiple stackings of permadom.
This change is indeed better for lowbies, but in this regard the individual performance peak of dominators has indeed dropped so it's understandable for some to call it a nerf (surprisingly enough, not the new players but rather the veterans). It must be noted though that on the flip side there *is* more to gain from teammates who buff.

In other news, the massive surge in the economy has been a major boon to the work force. However, due to the fact that the upper-upper-top class doesn't actually do any work, their pay was cut. Reports are coming in that this has had a cascade effect in the sports car, yacht and call girl services nationwide. -

I just want the news to shut up about this, we have North Korea about to start nuking people, the economy the worst its been in years, the Iranian government gunning down its own people, and we need distractions from real problems with stories about this clown dying?

Big f'in deal.... superspeed was also a bigass"bug" left in after 12 issues of gameplay so nanner fo fanner. Amazes me how people can't wrap their mind around the basic facts of the developer reaction in this game. Basically? If players figure out a way to make something work better than the developers could think up for themselves it gets called a "bug" and nerfed to kindom come.
Op? You're character will be fine just get extra recharge to battle the slow rech penalties imposed by issue15. You will need to add the aoe cone or a few st powers to your attack chain. Doms are still fun. Enjoy yours ;D
[/ QUOTE ]
My dear clueless forumite, this is laughably false. Psychic Shockwave was given damage, recharge and endurance costs as if it were a single target power and not an AoE power with a 25' radius. This wasn't so much a 'bug' (in the traditional sense) as it was a design oversight. As time wore on and the oversight became known, Castle made a very wise choice to let it endure in order to give Psychic Assault some measure of potency.
Face it: without Psychic Shockwave, Psychic Assault would've been in a truly pitiable state. Now that the Dom changes helped rectify Psychic Assault's issues, Psychic Shockwave could be toned down to sanity without leaving a dessicated husk of a powerset in its wake. -

The obvious answer is that the devs post when they work, and they don't work on weekends. Fair enough. But why? Is it not possible for them to log into their redname accounts outside of the office or something?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it's absurdly selfish to ask them to post on their days off. -
Hope BAB takes me off ignore long enough to see this! If someone can quote me just to make sure, I'd appreciate it.
For female characters (and likely all models as well), Hasten, Build Up, Aim and similar animations will cause the female character to "lock" into the idle stance. A character "locked" into idle will not transition into the combat stance after an attack is activated.
