  1. Is this any different from when you had to decide how much resources you wanted to spend to "Hami-O out" all your 50s or just some of them? Or "IO Set out" all your 50s or just some of them?

A long time ago, I decided only one toon will be the badger...

Because the whole idea is for greater security and not less?

That's why I buy mine with a level 10 toon.

However, this question often comes up because the icon for it shows up sporadically under the health window. Ignore it. It doesn't reflect the reality that it's always on.

You may want to consider /windowscale

    /windowscale tray0 .8
    /windowscale tray1 .8
    /windowscale tray2 .8
    etc...
  6. More Feedback for the Mods to Pass to NCSoft:

Let players authenticate their account on their ability to use the credit card on file.

If they are paying for the account, send them a link to get into it.

This settles lots of problems with family accounts and people blocked from accessing their credit card auto-renewal controls.

People are dressing that way for sexiness' sake?!! I just thought they were getting ready for an underwater zone!
  8. In case you didn't know. There's a new section of the forums: I20 Beta. The Devs are running limited windows of Open Beta to stress test the two new Incarnate Trials and the Turnstile (other I20 stuff is available to see and test, but keep in mind its not fully finished, this includes the exact powers and costs of the four new Incarnate Slots which are still not settled yet).

If you're a logged-in active account members and you can not 'see' the new forums, send a PM to Avatea or Zwillinger. If you can not get onto the Beta Server it's because it's only available during the announced times. If you *can* get onto the Beta Server but probably shouldn't, I suppose you could demand to be locked out... but probably not worth the trouble.

Here are the specifics for those beta sessions:

The focus of this testing session will be the Behavioral Adjustment Facility, the Lambda Sector Incarnate Trials and the Turnstile queueing system but the Issue 20 Hero Task Force, Villain Strike Force AND brand new Incarnate abilities will also be available.

If a GM, someone presumably hired to be a game support tech, made this sort of decision and approved its implementation, then it wasn't a professional security person, it was someone who thought they could play one on TV.

The actual professional security community is not all that big. If there is a CSO at NCI I'll eventually find them.

Add this to your arsenal when you find them:

After several attempts to log in, they 'locked' my IP... and my main email. I couldn't use my email address to get into my Support Account.

When I finally get to Support with an alternate email, all the questions they asked me not only could be found in my main email... they pretty much told me to look for the info they sent me in my main email.

This means, if my email was hacked, and they didn't want to just send a new password to my email because that's 'low security', then all the information they wanted to verify who I am.... could be found from that hacked email account.

That's highly unlikely considering the mechanics of the game. All other effects are circular, spherical, or cylindrical... all based on a regular circle.
  11. Run a CC with a 10 mil Inf prize and give *everyone* 10 million!

Convert it to prestige and buy the biggest raid base.

Find newbies zoning in next to Ms. Liberty. Give them 10 million Inf if they /em dance for you. You use the /em plot emote while they dance.

Manipulate the Rare Salvage market back to under 1 million inf prices.

Stand around in a PvP zone. When someone kills you, email them one of those Rare Salvage with a message: "Thanks! It's the only way I can feel alive is when I'm pummeled to death!"
  12. A Taunter, or a Melee with Aggro, should certainly move back FAR ENOUGH OUTSIDE BM'S RANGED ATTACK RANGE.

So, even if BM is immobed, the immob doesn't last forever, and then she'll move. But if the agro magnet is in range, well, then she'll use her ranged attacks first and not move.

I've seen too many Tankers taunting from right outside BRoD. If the intent to keep BM from hitting the squishies... sure, that works. If the intent is to make her move, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

If you move out of range and you have agro, then she hits... no one! And she's going to move to you when she can.

OTOH... flyers with AoE immob and AoE damage wind up locking down and killing all the adds, making it safe for non-flyers. Melee-ers can close in and beat on BM until a BRoD comes and then jump-joust as described above until the BRoD goes away.

As many as you can conveniently find. Search email for "PlayNC serial code applied". I certainly didn't provide every code, nor even had the account ID number. They just want to know you're not an account thief.

    Hi ZM,

Yes, I just uninstalled it thinking that maybe I was supposed to do that when the exe file was downloaded for the new loader.

Yes, the new NCSoft Launcher - will not execute

Are you sure you're launching the NCSoftLauncherSetup.exe file?

If you do that, you shouldn't be getting a CoH screen, you should be getting an NCSoftLauncher screen.

Or, did you already install it, and are now launching the Installer itself?

Anyone out there having this issue? Do I have to install the game from my Main Account again or will it download from the new installer (should it ever work...)

Big tick off here.. why must they change it?? WHY I ask!?
It's possible NCSoft is looking at future security measures for all its games. Maybe even a Pay-One-Price for all its games.

Maybe they want people who play one of their games to play the others. While you may not want to see reminders of Aion and GuildWars, remember, Aion and GuildWar members are now being reminded of CoH, and it may bring more players.
  18. We've seen people get caught in a perpetual installation loop if their registries had more than one installation pointing to the same directory. This happened cause a lot of folk just switch their -test shortcut to -beta rather than create a new installation.

The Launcher should look to make sure multiple installs don't point to the same directory and at least warn the user. It should be smart enough to not get caught in a perpetual installation loop because of it.

In the properties of City of Heroes, it says 'This game does not support patching through the NCSoft Launcher'.

I'll be off playing Just Cause 2 if anyone wants me...because...that works!
That sometimes happens if you have Live and either Test or Beta all pointing to the same directory. Right click on the Live, Test, and Beta installs and look under properties to make sure each installation is pointing to a unique subdirectory.

Nope. The four slots and the four tiers of the four slots will be available in I20.

But um.... getting to that fourth tier won't be something you can grind to in just a few days. Just warning ya.

You keep saying that. In the same exact form. As if it that makes it true. It doesn't.

I've read that actual comics where they call themselves gods because... they are.

Where they go back and forth from Earth to Asgard over the Rainbow Bridge. Where mystical goats draw his chariot.

This is the Marvel universe where magic exists. And magic is used to fix Thor's hammer... not advanced tech.

The usual modern scientific explanation are that gods are beings from extra-planar or parallel dimensions where the scientific laws of our plane don't apply to them.

Otherwise, could you please point to a galactic map and show me which planet is Asgard?

WRT Kirby: Kirby originally penciled Thor. He didn't actually write the plot.

Kirby tried to write a gods-as-aliens plot for DC with the New Gods, which never completed. When he went back to Marvel, he tried to recreate that kind of story with the Celestials who were battled by real gods: The Asgardians. It was a minor hijack in the Thor canon which no one else goes by.

So, no. Thor was not an advanced alien from creation as written by Kirby. That statement has all sorts of wrong in it.

    Welcome!

To help us help you tweak your system for best performance, please post in a new thread in the Technical forum the results of these two programs:

    • CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
    • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.
