Contact a mod or someone on these forums and I think they can change it for you.

I, and a few others, brought that up in the Retro Scifi beta. Dink said she tried and wanted to add an opaque version, but it'd take too much time that they didn't have. So hopefully someday someone can squeeze an updated version into the schedule. I still would love to see it, myself.

no thx
The year long Halloween event is bad enough. Let's not repeat that mistake. -

Don't stop at Titan Weapons. Beam Rifle needs the Rikti Plasma Rifle, too. Bots MMs get it, but Beam Riflers don't.

Mythological's probably a bad word to use for this. It's very vague, and I'm pretty sure fezzes aren't a myth.
I totally support getting some culture packs, though. Tribal, Middle Eastern, Russian, etc. are all cultures and themes that are sorely under represented in this game's costume creator. -

Awhile back this was brought up in a thread about Energy Aura, and I mentioned how it was not suppressing. About five other people jumped on me about how it does suppress, and they just saw me through my stealth even though I was aggroing lower level enemies. Good to know I'm not just "playing wrong."

Having non reflective versions of all the old pieces that got the super gloss effect, like Armor Plate, Metallic, etc., was something quite a few of us asked for back when Ultra Mode was on beta and hit live. Now'd be the best time to at least make it known we still would like that option, if time ever permits. Noble Savage just shot it down due to time constraints and "it didn't fit in his vision of the pieces."

I, and a number of other folks I know, would leave this game as soon as the announcement was made if they removed AE. It's one of the very few things I can consistently enjoy that I don't get burnt out on over time with this game. Sure it needs attention badly, but that doesn't mean we gotta nuke it.

Haven't read everything in this thread, as a ton has been written. But as to the whole "for the greater good", "villains are stuck being heroes", etc. discussion, I honestly feel one thing can be done to fix it all.
Give out one arc, or even one set of repeatable missions, in a co-op zone that's actually heroic or villainous in nature to each specific side.
Let's look at Dark Astoria, for example. And villains, although written better than in the past, ultimately play hero. The repeatables didn't help at all, as they just deal with cleaning up various messes throughout DA. Meanwhile, we saw a variety of new groups getting the Incarnate makeover. So what if we took advantage of that to give someone the villains can smash that aren't just the big threat at hand?
What if villain repeatables involved stealing supplies right out from Arachnos's nose inside of Dark Astoria? Or taking advantage of the chaos, and also being so close to Paragon City, some villains go out to rob a bank or something even bigger, bumping into the new Incarnate PPD in the process?
Meanwhile heroes could get variety in the form of stopping villain groups from taking advantage of the chaos. Possibly a 5th Column raid on Paragon City, or uncovering a plot where Arachnos are kidnapping defeated Incarnates in Dark Astoria for sinister purposes.
It'd only have to be one side story arc or set of side-specific set of repeatables, but I feel like it could make all the difference without uprooting a zone's entire to put in a million villainous options at every turn. This could even be done for the Praetorian war. Give heroes missions where they rescue civilians from the crumbling dimension, while villains loot, pillage, murder, and do whatever they want. -
Quote:So are we supposed to just be quiet and hope for the best, then? I didn't see a dev create a thread centered around figuring out the meaning of Cybertech, Chinese Dynasty, Cosmic Corsair, or many of the other sets we've gotten. But in this case we did work so closely with a dev, and so far it's gotten us nothing. And all you've had to tell us is "Guys, calm down. We'll get to it when we get to it."I get it. I understand that you're passionate about it. The arguments I, and the rest of the OCR team, makes advocating your causes to the development and business team are just a passionate. Just remember that our current development schedule is in no way a reflection that we don't appreciate your enthusiastic requests and that in all likelihood, we agree with it.
I'm not putting you, specifically, in the fire here, Zwill. But we'd have more to hold on to than "hope for the best" if there wasn't an actual problem here. -
Quote:I've seen the Retro Sci-Fi gloves used on gritty assassins and mercenaries, the Ninja Boots used on robots, and the Barbarian boots used on modern age ice-themed characters. These are only a few examples of versatility. Like someone above said, if a costume piece can be used so creatively for things aside from their intended purpose, then it was well designed. The more specific a costume part looks, the less and less it'll be used on a smaller variety of characters.I would say that they aren't. In fact I would say that they expected people to ask for that which is why Dink said in the first post that they would NOT be making them.
I'll reiterate since nobody read my last post about this.
We will NOT get clean versions of the Post-Apocalyptic pack parts in the Post-Apocalyptic pack because they would NOT fit into the theme of Post-Apocalyptic. The idea behind all the costume packs is to enable the players to make more characters in that vein. If you start to add stuff that is not in that theme you loose focus on what you were trying to accomplish in the first place. The packs must be limited in some fashion.
So if you want to use X,Y, and Z costume parts for something else ask for it in the forum of a new pack or an individual costume pack.
As good as these pieces look, and they do look good, adding a clean version of them would open them up to so many more characters to use and would see this pack become far more popular. Right now, the opinion seems to be in between "meh" and "good." Let's see if we can't shoot it past "good" into "great" like Retro Sci-Fi. Offering our opinions and speaking up is the only way this will happen. -
Quote:People bring this up constantly, Zwill, that we want to see this specific type of costume part. As I've posted, it's been such a big issue Noble Savage discussed it with us over the course of two large threads where we brought up loads of various ideas. This was seven months ago that we finally made such a break through.I'm not exactly sure where you get that we're not being responsive to Community sentiment. Just because we aren't working on one specific costume set we're not being responsive? Are we discounting all of the other changes and additions, not just costume specific, that we're working on and have accomplished in the last year+?
And yet since then we've seen hardly anything in the way or progress on our ideas. It doesn't help you're coming in here and pretty much saying "Maybe someday." And it's not just a a few of us that are asking for costume pieces along this theme, either. Sure, a small handful of us are more vocal about it than others, but we've both seen so many people show incredible interest in wanting to make Captain Marvel, or Green Arrow, or Green Hornet, but fall flat due to the limitations of our costume creator.
So what do we have to do to actually make you guys legitimately care? Shell out a few hundred bucks on plane tickets and express these ideas at the next Player Summit? Because that's all it took for you guys to make Post Apoc, and we're already seeing progress on that. -

"Rhymalist" wasn't at all what I was talking about. More like "Course of Bill" if we're gonna keep rhyming. It's a Natural themed set. Which ties into Origin-themed power pools. Like Sorcery being magic.
-
Quote:No I meant Psi Melee. Psi got leaked same time as all the other leaked sets. Rad's still WiP, I think. You mean Rad Armor? Its ok to say it as it was published in a PC Gamer article by the devs. They even listed what powers it had.
Well, it's magic themed. So it's a pretty safe bet we'll get something themed after the other origins as well, for fairness. That and something also leaked a Natural-themed set. Google dat if you want to see it, yourself. I don't feel safe posting links. -
Don't forget the new Origin-themed Power Pools. But if the word powerset was used, it's probably that one that's still left that everyone knows about but we're going to act surprised when we see it. Just like Christmas presents.

Quote:I actually mentioned something about that, if you didn't notice. Totally understandable, I typed a lot.Well, there are these, coming in the not too distant future:
But that's not only a "Work in Progress" picture, which means nothing's set in stone or possibly even really started on beyond a general idea, but it's very modern age as opposed to Silver Age. It's also kind of busy looking, which is the opposite of what we talked about with Noble Savage. And, to top it all of? That picture came out at the same time as the reveal for Cybertech, Cosmic Corsair, and Post Apoc. And we're seeing or have seen all three either finished or in progress now. No updates at all on the tights, though.
So is everything we discussed being flat out neglected or what? -
"More Golden and Silver Age comic book costume parts for our characters" has been a frequent request by the playerbase for years. People always have been, and still do, ask for more heroic costume parts to help portray their more classic comic-book inspired heroes. These requests became so frequent and heated that, back in January of this year, former CoH developer Noble Savage created two threads dedicated to ironing out precisely what it was we wanted to see. These threads can be found here and here. We worked closely, kept it civil, and expressed a multitude of great ideas we'd love to see to help improve our costume creator. Things were going very smoothly and we were hopeful for great things to come.
It's been seven months since this discussion, with Noble Savage no longer working on City of Heroes. And since then, we haven't seen much of anything that shows our devs are working with our requests and ideas. The only hint that we may get something someday was a Work in Progress picture of two possible tights designs, which was shown very briefly at the recent Player Summit.
Meanwhile, those attending the Player Summit only a few months ago got to decide on a new costume set themed around Post Apocalypse. We are now already beginning to see the results of this. In addition, we've had finished sets for Cybertech and Cosmic Corsair, two other sets revealed at the same Player Summit, in beta for weeks. But nothing about those few new tights options, nor any statements at least hinting at things to come in the way of the Golden/Silver Age. When we poured our ideas out to Noble Savage were they completely dropped once he was reassigned? Zwillinger had this to say about the issue when I brought it up.
Quote:This is what he had to say on the matter before he asked us all to not speak another word of the subject in that thread. The beginning comment wasn't necessary at all, for starters, and made me feel like these requests aren't taken seriously in their eyes. But it's the bolded part that makes me a bit suspicious. If the devs actually took in our ideas we discussed so thoroughly with Noble Savage seven months ago, wouldn't there be more than just a chance we'll see them implemented? Like maybe a "We're working on something you'll like" or a "You'll see" or even a "We can't discuss that right now"? They give out vague hints every other time someone mentions something they have in the pipeline. But they didn't this time. Zwill specifically said there may be a chance these parts will be created. For each person that asks for one thing, there's someone asking for another . Not counting the people who are asking for both. I know for a fact that Post Apoc items have also been requested for years.
Both requests are valid, this is just the way we decided to go out of the Pummit.
I do understand that many people want certain themes to make their way into the game, Golden/Silver Age being one of them, and over time, there's always the chance it will happen. In this particular case, the development team grokked this theme and had some great inspiration presented to them by the players.
Whatever happened to our Golden and Silver Age costume parts? Will we ever see proper domino masks with optional white eyes? Or classic high collar cape options? Or even simple designs like trims to put on our capes, gloves, boots, etc.? Or has the design team decided it's just not worth the time, or that they just aren't interested and don't care about our ideas and requests unless we shell out the money to make them in person?
TL;DR We asked for Golden/Silver Age parts. Seven months ago Noble Savage worked with us and took in our ideas. All we've seen since is a small WiP picture. Meanwhile we're seeing Cybertech and Cosmic Corsair already, while Post Apoc is made in far less time because it was requested by some people in person at a Player Summit. Whatever happened to our Golden/Silver Age parts? -

At least the few players that had enough money to shell out to fly to the con, or lived in the area already. I, along with a large number of folks that have asked for years, would prefer a Golden or Silver Age Heroes pack over a Fallout pack any day.
