One thing that is useful for Stone Armor is to use IO sets to build up your run speed to help with combat manuverability as Dechs mentioned. In particular Aegis, Kinetic Comabt and the Gift of the Ancients Global IO provide good bonuses in convienient packaging.

Also, I agree with Dechs re: Tanker damage. A team friendly tanker is one who holds aggro. Your teammates will help keep you alive, but you need to deal damage to help keep them alive. A Shield or Invulnerability scrapper (for example) can peel aggro off a tanker, not dealing damage makes the problem even worse. -
Quote:Actually the random secondary effect would be possible. Just give every power a bunch of secondary effects with different proc chances, sometimes you get none sometimes you get several). The problem is it decreases the differences between sets of the same type even more. It's the sort of thing that would work better as the special feature of a single set rather than something AT specific (i.e. imagine if Dual Pistols applied a random shot type to every attack rather than letting you choose).Trickster: I just don't know how this would work in-game. First off, you'll need to define what a "Wild Card" secondary is. After that, I'm not sure how much the game can apply random effects from the same power. Though I guess that it could work similar to the Tarot card power. I just don't know how easy that kind of thing is to code into attacks and controls.

Yep, in fact Smoke Grenade alone is enough to evade most mobs. I regularly use it to get guarded glowies (where stealth doesn't work due to suppression).
-
Yes and no. It doesn't provide a huge overall bonus, but it does provide a nice bonus where you really need it: solo facing a single tough enemy (i.e. a Boss or EB).
-
Super Speed, Hide, Stealth IOs and Grant Invisibility are the only stealth powers that I'm certain stack with anything else. In addition to those you can have one other stealth power affecting you (Cloaking Device, Stealth, Shadowfall etc.).
I'm not sure certain if Group Invisibility and the various Stealth granting temporary powers are stackable or not. -
When the IO procs the pet will get the benefit, not you.
-
That makes sense. Of course, Corruptors get Scourge which increases their damage further (albeit in a hard to quantify manner).

Quote:Actually a shortage of goods is in a marketeers best interests. The nature of a double blind market like the one we have is that items that are in short supply have significantly more variation in transaction price than items that are in higher supply. Since a marketeers profit essentially comes from that difference it is in our best interests.I'm no marketeer, but I fail to see how it's in a marketeer's interest to create a shortage. Marketeers make money on transactions, not on the absence of them. AFAIK, the only time marketeer activity creates shortages is in the initial stage of a price increase, when they buy up existing supply at a lower price so they can sell it at a higher price. Of course, I don't know much.
However, that doesn't mean that we cause the shortage since in practice maintaining a profitable shortage for any significant period of time is impractical. Sooner or later someone will come along and start offering goods at a price (or rate) where it is unprofitable for you to buy them out. -
Well, it's confirmed to be a damage bonus that scales up or down based on the number of teammates present. 30% decreasing by 10% for every teammate (minimum of 0% obviously). Interestingly this is apparently being layered on top of the current Vigilance so we still get the endurance discount.

Quote:It's not a function of the slash commands, it's a function of how the power system works. If you are in the process of casting a power and select a second power to activate you'll notice that you get a red ring around the second power, this is used to indicate that the power will be automatically activated once the current power is done. When you use any of the powexec (except abort, auto and unqueue) this is equivalent to selecting a power by any other means (such as clicking on the icon).I thought that was for each different command? So powexec_name would only activate once, so would powexec_toggleon and powexec_toggleoff, meaning you could technically do 3 things in 1 key press (Or more but I can't remember any more bind commands off the top of my head)?
When you have a macro with multiple powexec commands what happens is it queues each of them to activate in the order given in the macro. It queues the power up to activate but then immediately unqueues it in order to queue up the next one with the end result that only one power gets activated. Now obviously nothing happens truly instantly in computing and it is possible for the first power in the macro to activate (rather thna just being queued) before the macro finishes. However CoX servers operate on Arcanatime (0.132 seconds) meaning that when you select a power to activate it doesn't actually get activated until the end of the current 0.132 second step. So in order for this to happen you would have to time it so that the severs performed an update step in between when the command to activate the first power arrived and when the command to activate the second one turned up. Since we can't use any sort of command delay in macros this is impossible in practice.
Now two of the powexec commands (powexectoggleon and powexectoggleoff) do behave a little weirdly in all of this. First, turnign a toggle off is, to use the D&D parlance a Free Action; it doesn't impact our power queue so a macro can turn as many toggles as you like off in one click. Secondly if you use powexectoggleon to activate a toggle that is already on then the command fails and it doesn't impact the currnet power queue. -
The theory I've seen banded about is that with Corruptors the devs are deliberately only giving them sets with strong -res debuffs or +dam buffs in order to try and minimize the problem Defenders have where the soloing ability of different defenders varies wildly. No clue if that's true or not.
Other possibilities are simply that it's low on the priority list for proliferation to Corruptors since it's less compatible with their team role than it is for other ATs with buff sets or simply that Devs hate villains.
If you want a secondary that gives you a strong defensive bonus I recommend Traps. Traps' Dispersion bubble is actually more powerful than the one in FF. -
Quote:Did you tell them you were going to rez them? People often assume that if they aren't rezzed within a short period (and definetly before the end of combat) that your rez power is still recharging.Off Topic - Oddly I am finding even with recall friend and aoe some people just don"t have the patience to be ressed. I had 4 die in a grp last night because we split.. I tried to tp them to aoe ress on next grp and 2 used wakie, 1 went to hosp. and only the last one stayed dead.. I just don't get it.

Quote:Unfortunately not. The way binds work is they read left to right but if you have multiple power execution then only the right most one will activate, essentially the others queue up to activate but are immediately replaced by the next one in line. In general you can only activate one power per click although there are a few things you can do to partially circumvent this. First you can use the command powexec_toggleoff to turn off any number of toggles with a single click. Secondly you can use powexec_auto to set a second power as your auto attack (so it queues up immediately after the one you're executing). Finally you can take advantage of the powexec_toggleon (as the OP is) to have a macro that either turns on a toggle or executes a click power. That might save you the 2nd press I think. It reads from right to left and should be clever enough to use a clickie and a toggle in 1 press, I know other binds do similar things for other AT's.
In regards to the OP, it's an interesting idea, although given the 4second recharge for the ammos you'll need to be careful with your attack cycling (and possibly l;eave out the ammo change for Pistols and Dual Wield. Ihe one thing I would definitely change is Piercing Rounds. It only applies the resistance debuff if you're using lethal rounds so it would be better to use:
powexec_toggleoff chemical ammunition$$powexec_toggleoff incendiary ammunition$$powexec_toggleoff cryo ammunition$$powexec_name Piercing Rounds -
Quote:You know, I've never understood this viewpoint. Having to enter a PvP zone means simply means that you might not be able to get them at the exact time you want to. I frequently go into the PvP zones for PvE activities and if I encounter PvPers I simply come back half an hour later and the zone is normally empty.Look at the other temporary pet powers in the game. There are only TWO that are obtainable multiple times at full strength, wthout having to have a specific contact to get the mission that grants it. One of them requires a significant investment of time if you're not on a ship raid. The other requires you to enter a PvP zone, where you may or may not be attacked by another player. I would call that fair and balanced.
Saying that they are more powerful because of the PvP risk is, to me, functionally equivalent to saying that they something is more powerful because when you go to get it there is a 30% chance that you will have to come back at a later time. Ok, if you need them for something right now it would be frustrating but that's why you plan ahead and stock up ahead of time. -
I'd second Energy and Elec. They are frequently regarded as the two weakest blast sets.

Since he said the mids accuracy was 91% I assumed he meant the former, since getting 91% accuracy slotting in each power of an IO'd build sounds unlikely to me unless he's making some very strange slotting choices.
-
Quote:I've never tested it but my understanding based on the description is that it doesn't stack with stealth, you need super speed or a stealth IO."I can get closer" and "You can't see me*" - Cloaking Device is of the former. However, you can combine it with pretty much any other stealth power and get the latter. There is Stealth from the concelment power pool, Super Speed from the Speed power pool also has stealth, and if none of those powers appeal to you, with the inventions system there are four IOs - one each for Running, Jumping (sprint, which everyone has, is both of those), Flying, and Teleport powers - that grant stealth to you (Again, "I can get closer") when the power they are slotted in is used and for 120s afterwords. (Those types are usually called 120s or proc120s.).
-
Set bonuses only work if your combat level (as opposed to security level) is no more than 3 levels below the level of the IO. Consequently people who want to keep their set bonuses when they exemplar down for TFs and such will routinely slot lower level IOs so that they do (level 30-33 are popular since they are slightly more powerful than SOs and work for two-thirds of the sub-50 TFs int he game.

Quote:AR/Dev isn't going to win the Blaster of the Year award but it is a perfectly serviceable combo. Some general suggestions:The second issue is my power set, an AR/gadget Blaster with tech origin. So far I've gotten all the main power set attacks, and I plan on getting leaping for flavor reasons. Is there any major stumbling blocks for this build (other than late game resistances) or suggestions on what I should take?
1. M30 Grenade is a real endurance hog early game, I recommend taking Buckshot first and pushing M30 off until the mid or late 20s when you have stamina and spare slots for endurance reduction slotting
2. Ignite is an extremely powerful attack, but it causes enemies to run away. What you want to do is use Web Grenade to immobilize the enemies (against bosses you'll need to hit them twice with it) and then cast Ignite underneath them
3. Caltrops is an excellent power for keeping enemies out of melee range
4. Beanbag and Taser are both stuns, I'd recommend beanbag over taser since it's got a longer range but if you take both it allows you to easily stun bosses
5. Cloaking Device is less effective than it sounds, the defense is minimal and it doesn't prevent NPCs from spotting you. It's a useful power if you want to be able to stealth missions but the description makes it sounds a lot more useful than it actually is
6. Time Bomb is useless -
Quote:I don't think it's as large a problem as the issue of sub-50 recipes but I do think the supply is lower than it really should be to support the demand and that is driving up the prices. It's symptomatic of the overall market issues IMHO in that items tend to have either excess supply or almost no supply. You stated the availablility of Basilisk's Gaze and Kinetic Combats as a problem. I disagree. The problem in my view is the availability of sub-max-level recipes. If I can buy a big-ticket item within a week at a "buy it within a week" price, I don't personally consider the supply problematic. If it takes a month to buy at a "buy it nao" price, then it's a problem.

Well it would get you to the cap for one thing. Going from 91% to 95% will basically halve your chances of missing. Additionally Mids calculates your hit chance assuming even con enemies with no defense. If you're going up against +1s or higher, enemies with defensive powers (like Cimerorians) or enemies with to hit debuffs (like Malta, Carnival or Arachnos) you're hit chance is going to be lower than 91% (possibly quite a bit lower). Now if you're only going to be using the character to farm +0 enemies with no defense then you're probably ok with 91% (although a Kismet +6% to hit IO is a cheap way of getting you a little extra) but if not I'd try and find room oft a little more accuracy.
I also agree with Zandock, 3-slotting purples is not really that effective. The good bonuses on purples are the 2-slot bonus (high regen or recovery) and the 5-slot bonus (recharge) so unless you're doing some very weird franken-slotting 3-slotting generally means you're spending a lot for no real benefit. The 3, 4 and 6 bonuses are mostly not ones people are really focusing on (the ranged defense in the confusion set is a good example). -
Quote:Well in the case of the Unbounded Leap and the mid level LotG that would be helped by allowing us to specify the level we want for the recipe when doing random rolls (which you'll note I supported).Last five sales of the Kinetic Combat Dam/End/Rech lvl 35 Recipe redside: 2010-04-12, 2010-04-09, 2010-04-09, 2010-04-09, 2010-04-09
Last five sales of the Unbounded Leap +Stealth lvl 35 Recipe redside:
2010-03-20, 2010-02-18, 2009-10-16, 2009-09-22, 2009-09-18. And the last one sold for 150 million, as have many of the recent low-level stealth recipes. Not surprising, since if you're outbid you will have to wait a month or two for another recipe to be listed.
I consider the second scenario to be a bigger problem than the first. I want that Stealth IO while I'm leveling. I want those level 35 LotG +rech for exemping. I want to be able to get them without freezing my character at 35, or buying them outright with merits, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the same and would roll for recipes at a lower level if possible.
The Kinetic Combat is more a matter of education. Personally I do my rolls in the 35-39 bracket in part so that I can get Kinetic Combats precisely because it tends to sell well. The problem is if you don't follow the market and study the tables on the wiki you have no real way of knowing which level bracket offers the best options so the instinct is to roll level 45-50. I don't think that there is technical solution for this other than replacing the current set of rolls with a single one that awards a recipe of any level. I'm against this since it would hurt the supply of recipes from the upper brackets which are generally more useful than the ones in the lower level ranges (there are exceptions obviously).
