Hmmm, some posts got deleted rather swiftly. I think we got to see something that we weren't mean to see yet

Just release it already! -
Hmm, what levels are the Pure League running at? Von Schaden is only level 40, so...not sure how he'd fare against 50s and such
-
I find the sociological viewpoint here flawed.
First day? Cram packed with people doing WST.
Two days later? Business as usual. Sure, you see people asking for STF/LRSF on channels a bit more, but not to an obscene degree.
I have no idea what its like over the pond, but it really hasnt effected Union that bad. -
Quote:This is true. And also something I (try) to be quite careful of.Let's be clear about this. One of the reasons I view mechanics as a realistic limiting factor and get a little wound up that people totally ignore it is that I come from an actual roleplay background where the games have rules, not to stifle creativity, but to allow the players to have a challenge and enjoy themselves.
Take Champions (the PnP game, not the MMO). You can have utterly awesome power, but you are limited by the points you have to spend. Effectively unlimited power is available, sure, to Referee controlled villains, effectively the AVs and GMs of the world. It takes a rare kind of player to handle unlimited power without going off on a power trip and ruining it for everyone. It's an ego-trip.
As an example; Alpha is by far and away my most powerful character. He's still not indestructible and certainly not unbeatable, and I've never pretended he is. He IS incredibly powerful, however, and that's using the games own scale/mechanics to prove it. He can solo x8 without breaking a sweat, especially with his Rare slot. He can curbstomp EBs and I'd wager he could probably handle AV/GMs if I were to fine-tune him a little more. He's had yars of building all his own tech from scratch, using the best components he can lay hands on and researching and scanning everything he's ever needed to go up against. He has the resources and he has the means.
He's also a little arrogant. He's primarily a villain because he doesn't consider the rules apply to him, and if anyone argues they get blasted. He's got enough devious cunning and tactical savvy to get out of some tight spots...Providing he has his team with him. Seperated from the others, Alpha is tougher than a baseline human...and that's it.
I think my point is that...well, actually I dont really know >_> Alpha I've found the balance with. Leon and Nightwalker maybe not so much. Leon has his own weaknesses (wine, women and song...) T'be honest, you can kill him with just a bit of effort...getting him to stay dead is harder.
Nightwalker I'm still rounding out and working on. He's also awkward to balance power wise on a mechanics-RP point of view...if I could trade certain things out for other things in game I happily would. But the game doesn't let me, so I have to improvise a little. -
Quote:Exactly. I always try and be in range of the final fortress in the ITF, because the cutscene is simply a hundred times better when actually set to the music. Why the music is tied to location at all and not the cutscene trigger is a mystery to me in the first place.I actually played this when we started. Surprisingly (last night) we beat him in time for the song to end.
Good music can get your heart pounding, your adrenaline flowing and your mind racing. Playing this while tanking Recluse really amped up how "in to it" I was. While my allies were taking down the towers, here I was clashing face-to-face with the king of Villains, the Lord of Arachnos, fist meeting steel, spider claw meeting my indestructible forearm, electricity meeting Well energy, Bane Spiders surrounding me and fueling my Invincibility, all while I pop Unstoppable and throw everything I have at Recluse until the whole team surrounded him and smashed him to the ground!
.... case in point.
There's been two instances recently, one on the ITF and one on the LGTF, where I've taken to bootin up Ride of the Valkyries and listening to that, simply because the team is a literal embodiment of the Apocalypse
Please, Devs, re-hire the guys who did the GR music and add it to more of the game!
Edit: Should try playing something like this next LRSF in the final battle. Something to symbolise the crushing of hope and freedom beneath our armoured boots
Much like Lucas crushes all those with common sense and who loved the original trilogy...money-monger >_> -
Hey, Minotaur fans! Your about to bevery happy

-
Mechanics and lore-wise causes a few 'meh' moments for me. I think the worst case is Nightwalker.
I love the character. I really want to do him justice and, hopefully, use him in Plot in future.
But the game mechanics really get in my way there. I love the Warshades powers...except where they suck. He has no Mez protection outside Dwarf form, and that is slow nad unwieldy to use. Dwarf form itself I find rather pants for actual survival. Nova form is fine. I despise his lack of Mez protection. On a team, he can be a mosnter. Solo, he tends to be fairly so-so.
Now, I get the feeling that that divide would likely cause annoyance in RP, wether on forums or in-game, on both sides. For those who adhere rigidly to mechanics=lore and such, because Nictus 'can't do that', and myself on the flip side because what he should be able to do he can't. He'd need AV level defences, really. And oh, I can't do that in AE either, because WS power aren't an option. Fail.
Leon DeFeurard is another one. Katana/Regen with the Fire Mastery pools will serve him well enough mechanically. Really, though, it'd be more a mix of regen/super reflexes with some Fire blasts and control added in.
None of this is aimed to be a 'My Character is Bigger/Better than your character!' ; it's purely meant to represent a less rigid deisign that the game simply can't allow for balance sakes.
*shrug*
C'est la vie -
Quote:Blaster with Armour being godmode?Destroyer, yeah it's a blaster with armor, it had to be a little hindered in order to not be god modding.. Damage types; they will be resistant to fire cold energy ETC. and have such defense, so everything except smashing lethal will be some what filtered. maybe allowing them to get pool melee attacks would be ok.
Kheldians and Soldiers of Arachnos look at you with mild amusement and slight confusion. -
Quote:Because his art is shoddy, inferior, anatomically crap and an insult to pretty much every talented artist out there to the tune of 'Too much money, all of it mine!'OK seriously now, why do you guys hate Liefeld so much?
Yeah he has the tendency to go way over the top, hide the feet and can´t keep deadlines... so what?
He´s still one of my favourite Comic Artists, and gave us two of Marvel´s most iconic 90´s Heroes: Cable & Deadpool.
I mean all that hate and ****... does that give you something or what?
Can you draw better than Rob? If yes, why is he succesfully drawing and publishing comics and you not? If not, cool your engines, stop criticising (<- that word looks wrong, is it?) and try to actually become better than him.
And finally, maybe you should have a look at This.
Red, out!
Look at the art threads in the Creative section here. There are artists on these very boards (hell, our own Lead Art Dev David Nakayama for one) who outclass Liefeld by a hundred miles. Him getting paid the ammount he does just adds insult to injury. That's like saying that because he makes lots of money, Michael Bay must make deep, meaningful and restrained films that cater to all audiences.
And, yes, I will try and do better. When I get to the top, I will buy a megaphone and shout back a hello, k? -
No, it doesn't invalidate your opinion that new content should come first (personally that would BE new content, even if it was QoL), but that doesn't make the reasons you gave good ones.
Just to use the Patron example. Alpha has the Scorpion shield power from Scorp's arc. Not because Scorpion gave it to him, but because 1)Alpha stole blueprints and schematics from him and 2) proceedewd to kick the ever-loving crap out of him to field tests and diagnostics, all while under the perfectly 'lega' vurisdiction of an Arbiter. -
This might come as a shock, OP, but...the Devs aren't going to bend over backwards just to make sure your fully satisfied. And, as already stated, the WST is not all about Incarnates; non-50s get double exp and inf rewards.
Also;

Hmm, good spot there.
I'll be happy to not have to use the current abominations we have for better looking characters.
Can't....wait...for this to hit live....gaaaah! -
I like the outfit. It looks super-heroey and yet real. Real and like it's used, without magical pristeen-o power that seems to happen a lot.
When I first heard of the Cap Movie way-way back I thought it would be a self-glorifying farce. Happily, I seem to have wrong footed that one substantially. This genuinely looks good. Now, they just need to make Skull look good
-
Yeah, ran into this problem too.
All the horrible, boring arcs in Primal won't let me drop them at all, despite the fact I may well be level 50 with a level 35 arc still active. Now, when it gets to an arc I would happily crank the difficulty up a notch or two for to keep it even level...it doesn't let me.
Major fail. I shouldn't have to plan out each arc using the wiki just so I can actually finish stories. Sure, I can do that and use turn off Exp...And I'm sure I'm going to turn myself into instant flamebait for people calling me 'lazy' for this too...but I shouldn't have to go to that level of planning. For an STF or LRSF, sure. But not regular arcs that I already enjoy and just want to finish! -
Quote:None of those arguements hold water. I've said it before. If you really want, I'll say it again, too.I'm one of the few that aren't so bothered.
Khelds, well that's just the way they are. That bluey-whiteness you like really gets your washin... oh wait and the dark purple too... that's what distinguishes them and that's what they do.
With the PPP the powers are "lent" to you by your Patron. They are that colour because they are that colour. That's what you got, now live with it... and if you want to go tell Ghost Widow you don't like her as a patron because her soul extraction isn't a luminous yellowypink then good luck to you
Yes, Hasten does look HORRIBLE but nobody has to take it. It's in no way mandatory.
I'm surely in a minority but power customisation is far less significant to me than new content. -

I think Cashoo is full for commission at the moment, either that or dAs communication lines are all busted...or I'm really that annoying have have been refused a response, eheh ^^;
Would love to get a commission done of Alpha himself. I may just have to wait a bit for a slot to free up.
*Sets up base camp and deploys sentries* Miiiinnnee >:3 -
Not bad. As I said to others, the speech bubble order could have used a checkover; in places it's hard to follow what's meant to go where and said by whom.
That, and the lady being attacked by CoT magically morphs into a male hobo somehow, heh. -
Why would you do this to me, Bass?! Why do you hate me? My eeeyyyyeeess!!
-
-
Sorry, but I would honestly suggest playing the game a bit more and learning how ATs and particularly Solo/Team dynamics and diversity actually work. Because those three are horrifically broken as to be a waste of time.
-
Quick question; are Alpha slots allowed in the All Stars? :3

Quote:Run stuff at x8 +4 then. Hell, we can usually steamroller a +2 ITF on Union, so cranking it up to +4 would likely be fun.I'm with Damz in that I feel the challenge from many of the task forces we've come to know and love will be minimized - and in fairness, the Devs do have form when it comes to dumbing the game down.
I guess the alternative is to either up the difficulty or have some toons that ain't never gonna be incarnates.
OR... ask the Devs to give us an option when forming a TF. The normal version or "the Incarnate Version" so that we can choose our difficulty level when running it.
+5 option, maybe?
And, really, this is all totally subjective. You call it dumbing down; I, on the other hand, slotted my Rare last night and then went to clear out Levantera's arc on x8 settings on Alpha. And I was having a blast. It made me feel like an arctual Archvillain.
